Chapter 14: Battle With Teacher & Student! Vs. Leon & Mustard!
Swampert, Delcatty, Trapinch, and Mienfoo soon reached the outer edge of the crowd.
Delcatty - "So how do we get through this?"
Swampert - "Simple. I lead the way while carrying Trapinch on my head, and you follow me while carrying Mienfoo on your back."
Delcatty - "Ok. I'll make sure I stay close."
Swampert placed his one forepaw over Trapinch.
Swampert - "Try to stay as steady as possible Trapinch."
Trapinch - "Ok Swampert."
Delcatty - "You do the same on my back Mienfoo."
Mienfoo - "Ok Delcatty."
Soon the four slowly made their way through the crowd. After a few minutes, they made the inner ring of the crowd.
Delcatty - "Finally..."
Twilight - "There you both are."
Swampert picked up Trapinch from his head and placed her on the ground next to Delcatty. Mienfoo then jumped off Delcatty's back and stood next to Trapinch.
Delcatty - "What's going on here Twilight?"
Twilight - "Chairman Alejandro Rose."
Swampert - "Just great..."
Swampert then turned back to Trapinch.
Swampert - "Trapinch. You and Mienfoo are to stay with Delcatty. Stay as close to her as possible. Ok?"
Trapinch/Mienfoo - "Ok."
Swampert then walked over and gave Delcatty a quick peck on the cheek before running over to Michael and his fellow starters. Meanwhile, Aleajndro had been running his mouth for a while now. Insulting Michael as much as he could. However, Michael seemed to be bored by Alejandro's efforts and it looked like he was ready to fall asleep.
Michael - "Are you done yet? Arceus you're so damn annoying."
Alejandro - "Q-Quiet you brat! Besides, your mouth wouldn't get you far in business."
Michael then decided to use Alejandro's own words against.
Michael - "Oh. So that's what makes me so different from Leon, right?"
Alejandro - "Of course! Unlike you, sure he's a good kid, but Leon's so easily to manipulate."
Michael - "How so?"
Alejandro - "Simple. He'll believe anything I say without a second thought. Hence why my company, Macro Cosmos, is his head sponsor."
Michael - "And his undefeated streak?"
Alejandro - "Unlike all the hard work you've done for yours, you could say I've used my power and wealth to 'influence' some of his opponents to throw the battle."
Michael - "That's vile AND low! Which also means that you no longer have any right to call yourself a Pokémon Trainer at all. And that goes double for Oleana too since she decided to assist you in this little scheme of yours."
Oleana - "Say what you want. It's not like what you say will make it back to Leon anyway."
? - "Wanna bet?"
Alejandro and Oleana's blood went cold as they slowly turned around. There they found Leon standing in front of the crowd, a look of complete disgust on his face. Lance was off to Leon's right, and he was just as disgusted with Alejandro's actions.
Alejandro - "L-Leon?! How long have you been there for?"
Leon - "Long enough."
Leon then slowly walked towards Alejandro and Oleana.
Leon - "To think that I at first fully believed what you told me about Michael. But ever since I heard that Lance's 'Benefactor' had lied to him, I've been thinking that perhaps you were doing the same to me. And low and behold, thanks to Raihan's help, I discovered the truth. So as of right now, I'm DROPPING Macro Cosmos as a sponsor. And until you BOTH apologize to Michael directly, it'll stay that way."
Alejandro said nothing as all he did was pass out from pure shock. Oleana was then forced to carry him away as the entire crowd glared at them.
Leon - "Man that felt good to get off my chest."
Leon then walked over to Michael.
Leon - "I scenery apologize for my rudeness Michael. I hope we can start over and be friends."
Michael looked at Leon, who had reached out for a handshake. Michael then happily grasped Leon's hand and shook it.
Michael - "I'd be more than happy with that Leon."
Leon - "Glad to hear."
Leon and Lance, along with Gym Leaders Raihan, Iono, Chuck, and Bae, had joined Michael's group for the time being.
Michael - "Gotta admit. Pretty smart idea to have Raihan and Iono in the crowd to record everything Alejandro said."
Leon - "Hey. Just because I look oblivious, doesn't mean I truly am."
? - "Says the young man with no sense of direction."
The entire party turned as they watched a group of three people walk towards them. Michael noticed them all right away.
Michael - "Mustard! Peony and Nia too!"
Peony - "Hey kiddo! Long time no see!"
Michael - "Honey's not here?"
Mustard - "She's back home watching over the dojo. But she says hi and sends her regards."
Michael - "That's nice to hear."
Twilight - "Uh Michael. Perhaps you could introduce us?"
Michael - "Oh right I apologize. First off is Mustard. He and his wife Honey are the owners of the Master Dojo on the Isle Of Armor in Galar. He's also mine and Leon's former teacher."
Applejack - "Could you teach us as well Mustard?"
Mustard - "Perhaps whenever you all decide to visit the Isle of Armor during your travels across Galar."
Ruby - "Let's remember to do that Michael."
Michael - "Right. And as for the other two with Mustard, this is Peony Rose, Alejandro's younger twin brother. And Nia is Peony's daughter."
Rarity - "Where did you meet Peony Michael?"
Michael - "In the Crown Tundra, which is beyond Galar's southern border."
Peony - "I'm also the former Steel-Type Gym Leader for Galar, as well as a former Galar League Champion."
Michael - "Speaking of Former Champions. Mustard's a former Galar League Champion as well. Went undefeated for nearly 2 decades."
The girls were stunned at hearing that. Then, an unknown Pokémon suddenly attacks Michael, who stops the attack with ease.
Michael - "Nice to see you as well Kubfu."
Kubfu grinned at Michael, then jumped away and landed on the ground.
Kubfu - "Same to you Michael."
Mustard - "Do you mind if we use your gym's battlefield Chuck?"
Chuck - "Go right ahead!"
Michael brought out an Ultra Ball to catch Kubfu, when Delcatty brought over Trapinch and Mienfoo to him.
Michael - "Where'd you find these two Delcatty?"
Delcatty - "Swampert and I found them being bullied by four of Chuck's students. But don't worry. The two of us beat them up good."
Michael - "Hey Chuck!"
Chuck - "What is it?"
Michael beckoned Chuck over and explained to him what his students did to Trapinch and Mienfoo.
Chuck - "Don't worry. Bea and I will make sure to punish them thoroughly."
Michael - "Bea?"
Chuck - "Yeah. She's one of my best students. Along with being Galar's Fighting-Type Gym Leader."
Michael looked over to see the young woman Chuck was talking about.
Michael - "She's cute."
Bea noticed Michael glancing her way. She then blushed and turned her gaze away from his.
Michael - "Well guess she's now the third gym leader to reveal they have a crush on me. Anyway..."
Michael returned to his backpack and brought out two Premier Balls for Trapinch and Mienfoo.
Michael - "I already know Kubfu's answer. But how about you two?"
Mienfoo - "I'll happily join you Michael! I wanna see the entire world and everything it has to offer!"
Trapinch - "I second that motion."
Michael - "Good answer then."
Everyone then watched as all three Pokémon tapped the button on their respective ball, letting themselves get caught.
Michael - "Alright! I just caught Kubfu, Mienfoo, and Trapinch! Come on back out you three!"
Michael brought the trio back out.
Michael - "Now then. Trapinch and Mienfoo. I want both of you to join the others in the stands for now. Watch how I battle and see if you two can learn any strategies for when you start practicing."
Trapinch/Mienfoo - "OK."
Michael then turned to Kubfu as the other two headed over to the others.
Michael - "Ok Kubfu. Ready to finish the task Mustard gave us so long ago?"
Kubfu - "Ready!"
Michael and Kubfu then met Mustard in the middle of the battlefield.
Mustard - "There you are... I figure you'd choose the Tower Of Waters, so I decided to wait for you here. Michael, Kubfu-You've both done well to get this far."
Kubfu - "Of course! No one can stop the two of us!"
Mustard - "Your final opponent is little old me! It's been a while since I battled like this...but I think you can handle it! A stream too clear is avoided by fish Pokémon... We all need some darkness in ourselves. Let me be the one to teach you the final lesson on the essence of water!"
Chuck then decided to act as the referee for this 1v1 battle.
Chuck - "This is a 1-on-1 battle Isle of Armor Dojo Master Mustard and former Student Michael Masi. Both sides will be using a Kubfu for this battle. It will continue until either one or both Kubfu are unable to battle. Are both sides ready?"
Michael/Mustard - "Ready!"
(Insert Music: Pokémon Sword & Shield OST – Mustard Final Battle Theme)
Both trainers then went into their respective fighting poses, which the girls quickly realized was Michael mostly copying Mustard's stance.
Twilight - "I had been wondering where Michael's fighting stance came from."
Michael/Mustard - "Let's go Kubfu!"
Mustard - "I'll need to get serious if I am to take you on! Hone your senses now...and let this battle sharpen you! Show me how you can grow!"
Battle: Michael Masi (Kubfu) Vs. Dojo Master Mustard (Kubfu)
Chuck - "Begin!"

Michael/Mustard - "Aerial Ace!"
Aerial Ace's Current Power: 60 x 2 = 120
Both Pokémon attacked each other, with Mustard's Kubfu being the stronger of the two for that exchange.
Turn #2
Mustard - "Focus Energy!"
Michael - "Aerial Ace again!"
Mustard's Kubfu focused his energy. Sadly, it was deemed useless as Michael's Kubfu came in and knocked out his opponent.
Chuck - "Mustard's Kubfu is unable to battle! So the winner is Michael and his Kubfu!"

Mustard - "Ahahaha! You young folk grow so fast! It never ceases to amaze me. What a team! Impressive... Most impressive! Fuhaha! I knew you were worthy of my trust, Michael! Despite how long it's been since you were last at the dojo, you have done well-very well indeed-in raising Kubfu to this level of strength! Leon was once my best student...a long time ago. He, too, attempted this trial... But he never made it to either tower! He got lost along the way!"
The others burst out laughing as Leon sulked at being reminded of his terrible sense of direction.
Mustard - "Fuhahaha! Now it's time for Kubfu to evolve! Chuck! Can you and Bea get the Scroll of Waters for me?"
Chuck - "Sure thing Mustard!"
Chuck and Bea then bring out a stand with a massive scroll on it, placing the stand behind Mustard.
Mustard - "Go ahead and show Kubfu the Scroll of Waters. She is ready now!"
Girls - "She?!"
The girls were floored at hearing this, as they all had thought that Kubfu was male the entire time. Meanwhile, Michael led Kubfu over to the Scroll of Waters.
Michael - "You ready for this Kubfu?"
Kubfu - "Of course!"
Michael - "Then show me your resolve!"
Kubfu did just that, quickly studying the Scroll and learning its secrets. Her body then glowed as she evolved. The light disappeared to reveal a new Pokémon.
Mustard - "Behold! Before you stands Urshifu! Sure to be unyielding armor that will shatter any blade turned against her... And she has mastered the style of water!"
Urshifu - "Awesome..."
Mustard - "Ha! You've certainly grown, haven't you? And too think, not too long ago you would've run and hid behind me the moment you got scared! Indeed, no matter how old I get, witnessing someone grow always brings joy to my heart. Michael! Urshifu! Thank you both, from the bottom of my heart."
Michael/Urshifu - "You're welcome sensei."
Mustard - "You're up Leon!"
Leon - "Right!"
Leon quickly took Mustard's spot on the battlefield, along with Lance acting as the ref this time.
Lance - "This is a 3-on-3 battle between Galar Champion Leon and Michael Masi. The battle will continue until all Pokémon on either side are unable to battle. Are both sides ready?"
Michael/Leon - "Ready!"

Greninja gave a silent thumbs-up, which Michael then followed with crossing his arms, silently saying that Greninja was staying out.

Peony was a bit shocked.
Peony - "You sure about giving me a turn to battle Michael?"
Mustard - "Why not. You've been wanting to battle Michael for a while now. I'm sure even he'll agree to it."
Peony then quickly jumped out of the stands and into the trainer's box that Leon was just in.
Peony - "Hope you don't mind battling with me?"
Michael - "Not a bit. I've been wanting to battle with you anyway Peony."
Peony - "Then let's have a jolly old time!"
Michael - "Agreed!"
Ruby took Lance's spot in the ref's box.
Ruby - "I'll be the ref for this battle. This is a 5-on-All battle between Former Steel-Type Gym Leader Peony and Michael Masi. The battle will continue until all Pokémon on either side are unable to battle. Are both sides ready?"

Congratulations, from the bottom of my heart! Fuhaha! I held absolutely nothing back, and yet you still defeated me! The apprentice surpasses his master... A true moment of pride for the master!"
Soon everyone met at midfield.
Michael - "Thanks for the fun battle, Mustard. You too Leon, Peony."
Peony - "Don't sweat it kiddo."
Leon - "Yeah. That loss was the most fun I even had."
Twilight - "So what are you guys gonna do now?"
Peony - "Well watch Michael and whichever of you girls battle Chuck for his gym badge. Then Nia and I will join you all to Olivine City and watch the gym battles with Jasmine. After that the two of us will meet back up with Leon and Raihan."
Lance - "Leon. You don't mind if Mustard and Peony give you, me, and Raihan a hand with the Team Rocket thing going on in Johto?"
Leon - "I'm all for it. You Raihan?"
Raihan - "Sure. We'll take as much help as we can get."
Chuck - "Well now that all of that's taken care of. Michael and his friends can rest in the Pokémon Center for the night. Then he and his friends can challenge my gym in the morning."
Michael - "That sounds like a plan to us."
Everyone then headed into the Pokémon Center for dinner and retired for the night.
