Pokémon Soul Generations – Johto Saga

Chapter 20: A Bitter Cold Battle! Vs. Ice-Type Leader Pryce!

After reaching the Pokémon Center, Michael and the girls had decided that they would challenge Pryce for the Glacier Badge tomorrow so to give him more time to rest today. During the down time, Michael was doing two things: Planning his strategy for the gym, which he admitted was his hardest battle plan to come up with yet, and figuring out what Team Rocket's true plan was. He decided to do his battle strategy first. Despite how many Pokémon he had on him, Michael had quickly decided on who to use. As for what Team Rocket's plan was, that was an entire ordeal itself.

Michael - "Now just what is Team Rocket planning under Arianna? First there was the incident at Slowpoke Well, but it feels completely isolated from their current plan. That was more likely to make some money to pay for this hideout. As for the lone grunt that was at the dance hall in Ecruteak City, he was acting on his own. As for this event, a transmission through the radio forced the Magikarp in the Lake of Rage to evolve into Gyarados, then rampage. But then that means..."

Realization then suddenly hit Michael.

Michael - "Wait! Arianna said that her group's radio experiment was a success! And their hideout's radio was just targeting the Lake of Rage! And there's only one antenna in all of Johto that's strong enough to cover the entire region, and that's Goldenrod's Radio Tower. If they DO get their hands on it, then Johto is in a lot of trouble."

The rest of the day then went by quickly. Soon the following morning arrived as the party had breakfast, then made their way over to the gym. After the girls each had their turn, it was finally Michael's turn.

Abigail - "This is the Mahagony Town Gym Battle between Gym Leader Pryce and Challenger Michael Masi of Pokémon Island. The battle will be three vs. all. The battle will continue until all Pokémon on one side are unable to continue. Are both sides ready?"

Pryce/Michael - "Ready!"

Both trainers activated their Battle Disks.

Delcatty's combo attack blasted right through Cloyster's Icicle Crash, knocking him out in one hit.

Abigail - "Cloyster is unable to battle! Delcatty wins!"

Pryce returned Cloyster.

Pryce - "Thank you Cloyster. Go Dewgong!"

Abigail - "Will you change Pokémon challenger Michael?"

Michael crossed his arms, silently saying no.

Abigail - "Delcatty Vs. Dewgong! Begin!"

Due to Auto Charge, Delcatty quickly finishes off Dewgong.

Pryce returned Dewgong.

Both Ground-Types sent a tremor at each other. But due to Swampert being faster, his combo attack smashed through Mamoswine's and struck, knocking out Mamoswine in a single hit.

Abigail - "Mamoswine is unable to battle! Swampert wins!"

Pryce's Remaining Pokémon: 1 – 1 = 0

Pryce smiled as he returned Mamoswine.

Abigail - "All three of Gym Leader Pryce's Pokémon are knocked out. So the winner is the challenger, Michael Masi!"

Michael - "Alright!"

Pryce then met Michael at midfield.

Pryce - "Very well-done Michael. Even an old dog like me can learn something new every day. Anyway. In accordance with the Pokémon League rules, I award you the Glacier Badge.

Michael happily took the badge from Pryce.

Michael - "One more badge to go guys! We just got the Glacier Badge!"

Delcatty and Swampert joined in the celebration. The party then returned to the Pokémon Center to get ready for the trip to Clair's hometown of Blackthorn City.
