Chapter 77: Rainy Day On Paradise
It was a cold and dark night on the island of menageri right now. But right now over at the campsite near the lake was zane. Who was doing a little better right now because he actually caught something from today. All day he went hunting for food but it was worth it despite his current condition.
Right now on some sticks where about maybe seven fish he caught for his meal today. Along with that he actually figured out some uses with that new form of his. Apparently it functions like a faunus because he had enhanced sense of smell and hearing along with nightvision even. Seem that form might give the user the abilities and traits of a faunus.
Though for a name it was pretty hard but after much consideration he decided to call it prowler. It fit the name nicely since he was so light on his feet when using it and that tail was something he had to get used to.
"Mhmm something smells good instead of protein bars and jerky"bane said
"Well its better than eating dirt i guess…thank god i set a few snare traps out in the woods just incase. At least i can eat something finally"he replied sadly stoking the fire right now with a stick to keep warm.
"Yep, although you can just head back into town"bane said again as he growled at him to stop it which the parasite relented.
"For the last time…i don't want to trouble my family anymore. I.."he stopped as the sound of bushes moving could be heard behind him. Immediately he drew his gauntlet hidden blade at the ready for whats to come. If its someone hunting him down he'll just break their arm or if its grimm he'll kill them. But it was a grimm not a normal grimm.
Because from the bushes out stumbled a familiar but small uras grimm faunus who dusted herself off right now.
"Piper?" he asked her as she smiled, running over wrapping her little arms around his legs.
"Scar man!"piper cheered making his heart melt away hearing that right now as he returned the embrace. Before walking to a nearby log he used as a makeshift seat. As she joined him he was curious why she was here.
"Sweetie why are you here? You should be back home wheres its safe and warm"he said but she titled her head confused.
"I wanted to come see you i could smell you"piper innocently answered
Zane sighed patting her head"that fine sweetie but its dangerous out here people could hurt you if they see you with me"he said but she ignored him it seems eyeing the fish right now with a little drool on her mouth. He sighed before handing her a couple fish to her as she began to have her fill. As he began to eat his fish for a bit.
This went on for a bit until she had about four as he had three of them as the girl seem satisfied before suddenly hugging him again tightly.
"Thank you for bringing big sis back"piper thanked with teary eyes.
He smiled before pulling her back whipping them away with a thumb"it was no problem sweetie you deserved to have your sister back. But i want you to promise me tell no one where i am where playing a game of hide and seek."he said as she smiled slightly hearing that.
"Okay!"piper shouted as the two sat their for a bit as she tried to stay awake for a bit longer. But eventually passed out leaning against him as he smiled before gently picking her up carrying her. Then he eyed the direction of kua kuono sighing because he has to go their now. As he began the long trek back.
He began to sneak his way through the town looking for mari house since he didn't know where it was but using his prowler form enhanced sense of smell helped. But in front of mari house right now was summer, her and fenix right now in their usual attire.
"Oh i knew i should have locked that dam window. Those soldiers must have come and taken her"mari said with worry
Fenix sighed"look i can call some of the others right now to search for her. Buts it very late and we don't even know how long shes been gone"he replied
Summer glanced to her right"We don't have to look far someone brought her back"She stated as jumping from a rooftop molting his armor off was zane. As mari was overjoyed rushing over seeing her niece snoring peacefully. But was also shocked to see him right now as she had great news for her boss.
"Oh thank you so much…and this will probably be great news for someone. Fen go grab nadia"mari asked as fenix reached for his scroll but zane quickly fired his grappling hook tearing it out of his hands holding it. To their confusion.
"No! D-don't call her alright..i just wanted to return her home. I'll be on my way now i don't mean harm"he said beginning to walk away.
But summer eyed him stumbling right now along with his aura flickering several times right now which meant aura exhaustion. Slowly walking over she quickly caught him making him jump.
"Why don't you come inside real quick. For starters i'm sure your starving along with that your very tired i'm sure. We need to talk"Summer asked but demanded as he tried to run but his stomach grumbled loudly as he held it in pain. Without any option he walked inside the home to an awake bastet in a maroon robe.
"Well you found her and him. I take it you called nadia?"bastet asked but they shook their head confused.
"No it seems the boy doesn't want us to, for some reason and i think i know why"Fenix said
"You don't want her to go on the run for the rest of her life, the same applies to your family"he added as he nodded, sighing heavily.
"I don't want her to ruin her life anymore than i have. Just..just please don't tell anyone i was here…please make sure she doesn't run off by herself again"zane begged as the adults glanced at each other nodding. But summer eyed him down glancing at her sword deciding to do something as she tore his hood off. Though to their shock it revealed the very dark bags under his eyes.
"Dear have…have you been sleeping alright you look terrible"mari said concerned
"I..i'm fine…the hard ground is uncomfortable is all."he meekly replied but summer decided to confront him.
"Really? Then why don't i see any crimson, from your chimera grimm"summer suddenly said making him jump up in fear visible shaking right now. As fenix stood up in a defensive stance right now to mari shock she forgot about that.
"I..i forgot you mentioned that…wait…are you actually dangerous?"she asked scared now. Zane sighed as he felt tendrils wrap around his brain before shifting his eyes to crimson rolling them heavily.
"God dammit…i did not want to deal with this. For starters silver eyes chill out i don't mean bane"bane said stripping off his jacket and shirt to their confusion but mari noticed bruises on his body along with his ribs starting to show slightly.
"Oh really because i've met eleven of you grimm knight so far. All of them have tried to kill me for the past ten years. But you…you look very normal compared to the rest"summer questioned as bane chuckled.
"Well most grimm aren't white with blue eyes"bane said turning his back but instead of blue eyes it was strange to her shock seeing silver eyes on a grimm. The women eyed him down stepping forward as his back bulged slightly to her shock thinking of something.
"Ozpin knew about this. He must have known about this that wyvern knight said one of them was different."she thought as he slipped his clothes back on before releasing control to his host.
"L-look…please don't kill me…if the others knew they might wanna kill me no matter what"zane begged thinking she'll do it but it was the opposite as she sheathed her sword.
"I won't for starters i should try to make you stay here. But it could cause problems i have a trade offer. Take this"summer started before grabbing a small bag filling it with a few cans along with a bottle of medicine. Along with some other small pieces of provision before handing him it along with a bedroll and pillow. Mari understood what she was doing.
"Yes look i'll hold my tongue for now dear. But thank you again for bringing both my nieces to their family. "Mari thanked making him feel better nodding slipping the pack on leaving the home. It took him an hour to get their since he felt tired but once he did he undid the sleeping bag before setting it up on the ground with a blanket. For once he felt comfortable to sleep for the night.
It was a cloudly day on menagerie as it was heavily raining outside right now as in nadia house right now everyone was already up for the day as cardin made them scrambled eggs with biscuits and gravy for today. With piper joining them for the days since jazmine agreed to babysit her
Nadia was in the living room now looking at an old photo album from her younger days. It showed her with on a podium holding the championship belt that was returned to her. Along with another of her with her three teammate back at beacon. Their was also when she got prosthetic arm holding both her kids. But one of them was ran out of town.
"Seems like today will be pretty hard to continue a search. Hows that katana coming along kid?"colt asked as yumi and velvet was looking over remorse with a frustrated look groaning right now giving up.
"For starters i give up seriously this thing i heavily modded. Most of the tech in it only comes from atlas or weapon companies if they have the parts. Seriously he must have spent alot of time making this"yumi said impressed
"She right its so advance most of these parts only are allowed in atlas. I'm shocked he made something so advance"velvet said impressed as well
"Well maybe if we found the guy we could ask him. Hes like a hide and seek champion right now"jazmine joked making neo giggle slightly.
Nadia chuckled slightly placing the photo album back"funny but we should go look for him. He'll get sick if hes out their too long"she said worried
Cardin turned the stove off setting the plate for breakfast today"bad idea. It'll be very hard for us to cover any ground with that storm out their."cardin said as they noticed him setting the plate out. They all began to dig into breakfast as they decided to discuss that.
"True, but we've search the island from top to bottom. Heck even the old white fang stronghold"jazmine replied annoyed but ate her breakfast with delight.
Neo nodded eating her breakfast but was disappointed"i know, but i wish your sister wasn't so ungrateful"she signed but hesitated to.
Jazmine looked down at that messing with her food"look i know sis came off pretty hostile, but she being to overprotective is all"she replied
"You aint wrong that what older sibling do, they try to protect their younger siblings no matter what. I understand she has her family interest in mind but her and that wolf didn't have to say that stuff"nadia growled even thinking of the two faunus.
"Hmph yeah though surprise they haven't sent anyone after him"cardin said
"Well if my dad does he probably knows that if he does. Then he incur the wrath of here"jazmine said as nadia sighed shaking her head.
"Call me nadia kid, though at least some of your family has some sense of honor. "She replied as the panther faunus smiled at that. She wanted to return the gesture after her and her little swirl saved her from that fire. They continued to eat breakfast for a bit until they finished, as they cleaned up. Colt washed the dishes while neo dried them off with her brother help. The other looked at a map of the island where they searched.
"This is so annoying! This guy is like a master of hiding…and whats this stupid mask he had"jazmine said pulling out the skull balaclava mask to vance confusion that he left that.
"Huh weird mask must have picked it up in vale to hide his identity. Make him stick out like a sour thumb"neo signed confused as vance picked it up before walking to his room tossing it in the trunk as he locked it which piper noticed.
"What in the shiny crate?"piper innocently asked
"Yeah i saw you lug that thing in here with some others things. What so important about that…some things from your home in vale?"nadia asked but the lynx came up with a quick lie.
"Sort of…a few things actually that belong to Z. some doctor came by dropping off those syringes and that trunk. That ace ops bree actually…let us go with it, she wanted you to have some things from atlas"vance said quickly digging into it before pulling out a wooden statue of a tiger surprsignly. It caught her offguard seeing something so well made as she gently held it in her hands.
"Whoa he made that? Anything in their to give us a hint where hes hiding maybe?"jazmine suggested
"No just a few picture frames, clothes and things he made. But we should wait till we find him maybe going through it will cheer the guy up"cardin replied as that sounded nice.
Nadia was enamored with the wooden craving holding it close right now but colt recalled something he was told.
"yeah but any of you going to that funeral later today?"he asked as they all just stared at him even saying that. Some of them didn't really know the guy but wanted to go out of respect. Although they really dind't wanna go their mainly to not start a fight.
"Uhh yeah i aint going to that, for starters will probably punch me"cardin reminded as he bullied his daughter and two other teammates. Who seemed to have forgiven him all except for her it seems.
"I would be mad too, yes, but at least you realized your mistakes. It a good start when your on the right track making an amends for your actions in the past"nadia wisely said to their surprise because they thought she was just some orphanage caretaker who dotted on her two kids and likes to fight
"Huh forgot you can be wise at times auntie"vance teased as she flicked his ears as he held them rubbing them.
Colt chuckled"i did too, but i aint going either i may have gotten close to the guy. But seriously kinda ungrateful for all that work we did training the new fang."he reminded
"I'm not i…want to console wol..onxyia but she might just start something if i'm their"velvet sadly answered
"I aint going either, i'm guessing some of the others might not to not start a fight out of a respect."yumi added but a knock came to the door as piper was their as jazmine opened the door to reveal a dog faunus carrying a basket with two kids by her side.
"Umm can i help you ma'am?"jazmine asked as nadia stepped into frame
"Oh um well my name is stacy and these two are my lovely little angels are me and my wife kids. This is Ria and bennet"stacy introduced herself and her kids.
"Hi nice lady"bennet greeted making nadia heart melt slightly.
"Alright if your here about enrolling them in our daycare program i can–"she was stopped
"No i want to bring a gift for your son. During the attack he…he saved my kids from that aweful thing"Stacy said as nadia was caught offguard by that recalling that happening.
Ria nodded"he saved us and handed us to momma. She wanted to gift you something"she inncoently added. Stacy offered the basket as nadia looked inside seeing a few baked goods.
"I shouldn't stay long with the rain, but maybe try to gift those to him. I hope you find him, i run a sweet shop in town if you wanna come by sometimes for more baked goods"stacy said as nadia had tears in her eyes swallowing hard sniffing
"I…thank you very much for this. At least someone appreciating what my son did"nadia slightly cried as she nodded taking her leave as she set the basket inside fighting the urge to cry but they witness the entire thing.
"At least someone can appreciate what my cousin did for them. That was sweet of her"neo signed smiling.
Colt laughed"yep though…uhhh someone already digging into those baked goods"he said gesturing to piper who had a muffin in hand eating it. They eyed her down as she slinked down.
"Can i not have one?"piper asked presenting the muffin as nadia sighed petting her head.
"You can have some sweetie"nadia said as the uras began to enjoy the muffin in her grasp.
The entire group agreed that they shouldn't go to the funeral to not start a fight. They wanted to go to give their condolences but decided against it to not start a fight. But outside it was starting to pour onto the island of the faunus.
Hours later as it was almost time for the funeral,at the Blair Residents right now onxyia was getting dressed for the funeral today, it was strange having another one for her uncle again. She slipping on some heeled shoes right now as her attire mainly consisted of a black strappless dress that manged to cover everything. While she wore a black shal over it with some simple dress heels. Her tail stuck out the back so it wasn't uncomfortable.
The wolf faunus sighed looking out the window seeing it was raining, rain kept hitting her window hard. As she stood their thunder struck illuminating the sky as she thought about the last few days. She annoyed that their all against after hurting his feelings after breaking up with him. Even her girlfriend against her now which she finds annoying
From her perspective it hurt for what he put her through, she needed to give him a piece of her mind. But seeing him getting hanged was troubling but she doens't even wanna be near him right now. Though part of her still worries about her which confuses her still. As she stood their someone spoke up near her doorframe.
"Hey you doing okay in here?"blake voice spoke up as she turned to her. She wore a simple black dress with dress heels as well. But it had her family emblem on the back of it.
"Oh umm yeah just not really looking forward to it being in the rain today"onxyia replied
"I know, but lets get going. Your parents, my mom and auntie and some others are waiting for us"blake said as she followed her downstairs.
Once downstairs she was met by her father wearing a simple black tux that slightly from his mucles as his wolf tail stuck out. While for her mother she wore a black sleevless dress that reached her knees. Along with her necklace and simply dress heels. Xander wore something similar like her fathers.
With sienna she wore a black sleeveless dress that reached below her knees and had a gold necklace around her neck along with dress heels. Kali wore something similar but it had the belladonna family symbol on the back as she had sleeves.
"Their you all are, ready to go?"kali asked as they all nodded. With that they all made their way to the cemetery.
Everything was in walking distance from each other as they had a small building to have the funeral in. they walked for about twnety minutes to get their as they got to a single storie building. People rushed inside as some where friends it seems or family on the island to avoid the rain.
They headed inside as xander stood slightly away from his family it seems. While blake stuck close to her, declan had an arm wrapped around katheirne. But once inside they were met by a simple room with a large fireplace with decorated mantle that had two lit candles on each end. But their was several benches around as a podium layed in the front. But near the front greeting everyone was lisa and her daughter sombra along with nix. Lisa wore a brown and black trench cloak with a dark tan fur collar. She wore black heels.
Sombra wore a simple black dress with simply dress heels, along with a necklace that was silver in color. Nix wore something similar to sienna but hers had longer sleeves on it with some dress heels. People greeted the three as they were trying to make them comfortable it seems.
Sombra noticed them as she had a bright yet somber smile on her face as she greeted them
"Oh you guys made it. I thought you weren't coming for a second"sombra said
"We've had this funeral before, i'm still shocked to be doing it again"declan replied somberly.
Lisa sniffed as she rubbed her eyes"yes, but i still can't believe my husband is gone and he was alive. "She said
"I know, its still troubling to hear he went through those aweful experiments"kali replied
"Agreed, though we had to do a closed casket for my dad. If everyone saw a skeleton in their, i hate hiding what happen to him."sombra replied since they needed a cover story for how they found him.
"I know dear but it may cause people to panic, though has anyone else arrived yet?"katherine asked
Nix nodded"yeah fen and his family are here along with a few of your friends. Ghira will give the eulogy soon i think"she replied
Onxyia noticed everyone starting to gather for the service. But she noticed the large closed coffin in the center of the room. Their was a picture of diego their along with a small bouque of flowers for him, rose likely placed by his music played around them as everyone was getting seated. They took this moment to get seated as well, but she noticed some others being here. That being sun, aruna who was holding her little brother sorrel in her arms. Saber was here as well along with akasha, ilia along with summer. But front and center infront of a podim was ghira with a simple tux as he had reading glasses on.
Sun looked up seeing them joining them"oh hey you guys finally made it, thought we were doing it without you"he said
"Well we didn't wanna be rude, but you actually wore a suit to this"blake replied
"I may go shirtless alot but i know when to pay my respects. Sorry for your loss"sun replied looking at lisa and sombra who nodded. But sombra wouldn't mind seeing him in a tux like that.
"Thank you but…its starting soon"sombra replied as soon everyone got quiet as their chieftain took the podium. It was a rare honor for him to do this but he was a friend of the panther faunus back in the day.
Soon ghira spoke"welcome everyone, today we are here to remember the life of diego taupe. Strangely he died eight years ago but as of recently we learned he was still alive. Although he has passed from our world but not from sickness. He died on his own terms when he saw his death approaching. But today were here to lay him to rest again as he no longer could show anymore acts of kindles"ghira began pausing a moment. Blake knew her dad was good at speeches but was a little surprised at his eulogy.
"No more show of strength. No more acts of courage. No more battle flights. Today a very old friend of mine and of yours will be put to rest. He may have been just a simple huntsman but he cared deeply for anyone. No matter the act, no matter the cost he would always have his heart of gold. I respect him for his kindred soul, which is now gone"ghira said as he turned slightly to face the coffin.
"We hope you can rest easy friend. May you watch those beyond the veil and your finally where you belong. Home. i ask that you all silently pray"ghira replied bowing his head. Many of the other did as well as sombra tried to hold the tears back but onxyia wrapped her in an embrace as they silently pray. While sorrel was a little fussy but he kept quiet as aruna bowed her head.
Nix silently prayed as she held her eyes shut remembering all the good times they had back in the day. Declan tried to keep a straight face but tears escaped his eyes as katherine held him close. Blake prayed bowed her head as did many other for a sign of respect. Onxyia wasn't really sad to hear her uncle was dead she aready grieved for him before.
A full minute of silence came as ghira spoke up again.
"This concludes today service but we wish for some of you to stay as we transfer his body to be put to rest. "Ghira said as everyone slowly started to exit with umbrellas in hand. Some stayed giving condoslenes to the taupe family, declan and nix as they passed by. After they left they soon carried the coffin outside. Declan, nix and fenix carried it out a sign of respect for their old friend as they walked to the cemetery.
It was about a ten minute walked their as ghira did another small semnor for the man. Lisa sobbed her late husband like all those years ago again. Sombra did too as onxyia did her best to console her, it poured down hard on them as their umbrella shielded them. Ten minutes passed as it was over as mostly everyone left.
"Dear i'll be heading home, will you all be alright here?"ghira asked his wife who nodded.
"Yes, you all don't need to stay we'll console their family. Then join you all back at the house"kali said as he nodded leaving. Bastet took lavi with her along with aruna taking sorrel, ilia and akasha joined them walking back to the house. They stayed their as the taupe family cried for them as declan looked at fenix.
"I thought you wouldn't come today"declan replied
"I wouldn't miss this my friend, but still surprised some of you decided to invite the others. Although they didn't come"fenix sadly said meaning nadia and some of the others since the women knew him back then.
Lisa scoffed at that"i only allowed a few of them to come because my daughter begged me too. If they wanna protect that monster, let em"she said with malice. Sienna sighed heavily at that because even after showing the women those files she still hated her partner son.
"It'll be fine, my partner probably doesn't want to be near us anyway. But if you want we're having a small dinner together"sienna offered as lisa nodded. After a few more minutes as rain poured on them they began to leave the cemetery but someone else watched from the woods waiting for them to leave. As they left the cemetery after walking for ten minutes they started a small conversation.
"So you two gonna hold up okay?"sun asked concerned
Sombra sniffed rubbing her eyes"i..i will i've grieved for my dad before, but i'm still shocked to hear he was one of those grimm knights"she replied
"I know what you mean all thirteen of them"onxyia replied which made xander, fenix and sun eye her for a moment. Her brother just glared at her which she noticed as she ignored him. Lisa scoffed slightly.
"You aint wrong about that, shame your youngest wasn't here. Kinda rude, you should reall-"before she finsihed kali stoped her.
"My daughter made her own decision, i'm quite mad she didn't come. But she seems to not wanna be near anyone it seems"kali replied sorrowfully. As they continued to walk lisa felt in her trench coat pulling out a small bottle of liquor.
"Oh..i almost forgot i was going to give him a parting gift. I'll do it later"lisa said trying to walk foward but was stopped.
"No its fine, some of you head back we'll help her drop off her offering"katherien said as some of them nodded in agreement. Onxyia, blake, sienna, sun,xander, fenix, nix and declan walked back as the others returned to the house. but after they walked back onxyia noticed something near the recently buried grave of her uncle. A figure stood their standing over it as they placed a few things on the gravestone kneeling down praying.
"Huh it seems someone else wanted to pay their rspects, kinda late to the thing"sun replied
"Yeah, though who the heck are they even?"xander asked as they walked toward the person who was kneeling. Though a familiar scent came to xander, onxyia and blake because that person smelled an awfully like zane.
Onxyia scoffed in disgust"its zane why the hell is even here. I thought he was going to kill himself or whatever. "She said to their surprise. While declan was surprised he was even here, he was sure no one told him about the funeral.
"Well my partner hasn't been able to find him yet. I'm sure he scared after almost being hanged. Maybe we should try to gently coax him"sienna suggested as they slowly walked over as he was finishing a small pray as katherine could hear it.
"I…i can't thank you enough for making sure i didn't cry my eyes out back at that dumb lab. Always making sure i didn't receive those dumb beatings…you always said i was lucky number seven. You were right…i wish i could shown the same kindness you showed me. I'm sorry i couldn't save you"zane spoke quietly as from behind lisa just growled deciding to call him out.
"What the hell are you doing here you devil!?"lisa shotued as it startled him making him jump up backing up hugging himself.
"Yeah i thought you were never coming back to town man?"sun replied looking at him worried
"I..i..just wanted to pay my respect…i..i don't mean any harm"he replied stuttering as onxyia rolled her eyes because she was curious how he knew about this.
"How did you even know about the funeral, what are you stalking people now?"onxyia questioned annoyed making him just visible back up from that shaking his head. Sienna decided to take this moment to try and convince him to return to town. Its the least she could for her partner.
"Alright, though i'm sure you don't wanna forage in the woods anymore. I'm sure we can discuss with ghira a possible solution to you being here."sienna calmly said slowly steeping forward as he just kept backing up. A cold wind blew through almost taking their umbrella as he held his hood. But nix took her chance tackling him to the ground as he layed on his back struggling to break free.
"What the hell are you doing?!"xander questioned in shock right now.
Nix struggled as she placed his hands behind his back but he kept resitanting"dam…thing needs to be locked up. Enough of this coddling someone help me knock this thing out before it trys to kill someone"she said as he kept struggling starting to freak out.
"Get off…get off me…just please get off"he begged as declan stepped forward to help restrain him but fenix grabbed him by the arm glaring at him in disappointment.
"Nix get off the kid now, and dec i swear to remnant your not laying a hand on him. That kid doens't mean harm"fenix stated
"Look why don't we all relax. Their no need to hurt anyone right now we should discuss this with my husband"kali stated
"Or better yet we just kill him before it starts a killing spree. I don't care if this thing is a child it deserve to die."lisa said which made some of them slightly go wide eyed. But with zane he started to freak out more as he kept squirming. As he kept moving around soon enough he got free as he turned back kicking nix hard in the gut.
"Get the hell off me!"he cried in fear as the women was launched off him. But she stumbled backwards falling into a gravestone banging her head against it. Thunder flashed a little making onxyia jump slightly as nix hit the side of her head as blood dripped from it. They were shocked by this but onxyia noticed something immediately. His hood was thrown off as it revealed him with a look of fear, but she noticed something else the very dark bags under his eyes along with them being red.
Declan growled before walking over punching him square in the jaw sending him to the dirt"you dam brat! That it, we should just kill you i don't care if you knew my best friend. Your just a monster!"he roared as his wife looked very disappointed now but noticed that his current state looked terrible.
Zane got up shaking scared right now as he just threw his hood up before sprinting off toward the woods. They would have pursue but decided to look after nix as he shot off using his grappling hook as the thunder illuminated him as he disappeared. Katherine rushed over to nix concluding her injruy.
"Its just a simple concussion she'll be alright, but what were you thinking?"katheirne asked nix who rubbed her head.
"What she was thinking was getting rid of a threat on our island. We need to talk to your husband to assist roland in hunting that dam thing down"lisa said to kali who was shocked hearing her say this. Because for one she noticed his current state, but she sighed before deciding to return to the house. But with xander he just kept glaring at everyone as he was really mad right now.
As they left declan stared at what he placed on the gravestone, it was a small bundle of dandelions along with a small handmade wooden angel statue. He grabbed it. Once back they discussed what happened with ghira as katherine treated nix head wound.
"We should be hunting that dam thing down. I don't care if it says its here to help us it needs to be put down. I'm not risking my family when that thing goes on a killing spree"lisa said in anger as her ears tiwtched around.
"Miss. taupe, she did attack first the child was just defending himself. Were trying to come up with a solution to deal with him"ghira replied
"Dad might be right. But seriously i don't trust him one bit because all that stuff he brought may be useful. But he could be here to play us and is assisting those talon mercs."she said as xander and fenix eyed her down as bastet dropped lavi off at mari house.
"Wow now i regret being on your guys side. No wonder everyone hates you"Sun said as they looked at him.
"Oh their mad i wanna lock a murderer….no a monster up"nix asked as katherine finished patching her head up as it slightly stained in crimson red.
"Yeah though who even invited the creepy freak to the funeral"aruna asked as someone spoke up.
"I invited him"xander spoke up to their confusion as declan was very anger he did that without his permission. While katherine was surprised he did that as onxyia was annoyed that he isnt's litening again.
"Are you serious. You invite that dam thing to my husband funeral an innoconet man turned into a monster. Discipline your kids more and first off get rid of that stupid statue it left. "Lisa said as declna looked at before tossing it to the ground stomping on it to his son shock right now as he began to have tears streams down his face.
"I told you you could invite someone with my permission i didn't tell you can–"he was stopped as he threw his hand off surpsignyl pushing him back with a look of disgust.
"Shut up! Your all so goddamn ungrateful right now seriously i'm sick…god dam sick of this shit!"xander shouted as his ear straighten out. Katherine soften her gaze wondering why he was so adaemnt on defending him.
"Kid quit defending that thing seriously its a monster"nix replied
"Yeah and it may have been my leader buts its a wanted criminal now should be locked up or stay dead"onxyia added sending him over the edge.
"Oh shut up! Your all treating him exactly like everyone did back at base. Why do you think that winchester guy blew up on you when you called him a monster. Maybe why velvet doesn't want to be near you anymore"xander said glaring at his sister who looked away from him. Blake just rolled her eyes crossing her arms under her bust.
"Why should we care? For starters were just trying to keep everyone safe from him killing someone"she argued
"Seriusly maybe this is why your sister doens't wanna come home. Your too overprotective of her after you made her lose her leg and after the fire happened."xander said with venom making blake visible back up. Declan tried to stop his son with his small rant.
"Thats enough! I don't see the reason why you are so adamant on defending that thing"declan said as his son just lost it now as he had a very good reason.
"Wel if it wasn't for him i would be dead back in vale!"xander cried as tears slowly slipped away as they looked at him for a moment. They stood in silence as he took a few heavy breaths as he was beginning to walk away from all of them.
"What are you talking about?"aruna questioned
"I almost died back in the escape tunnel back in vale a grimm jumped me and dragged me away. But as everyone was leaving…he came back for me after just waking up after that coma. He saved my life wanting to make sure I got back to my family safe and sound"he begun as katherine listened intently.
"And I appreciated him doing that but for three days in camp. Everyone treated him like utter garbage and kept hitting him when he wasn't looking. The cook refused to serve him food and gave him spoiled food. But he spent an entire day making that dumb map along with that sword! He spent seven hours straight making it…as an apology gift for you! For the grief he put sis through!"he continued pointing at his father who was caught offguard by that.
"Like we care about some stupid sword, that thing should do us a favor and die"lisa said rudely as some others got involved finally.
"Nice job jerk, your just like everyone else. Their all mad for one reason because your all being ungrateful. Everyone kept telling him to go kill himself. Called him a freak,murderer, mistake, and finally…a monster"akasha said looking at onxyia who looked away
"Okay so what? Why should i feel sympathy for him"onxyia said but xander rushed over surprisingly yanking hard on her ear as she yelped.
"Shut up sis! I understand you don't love the guy but don't be a bitch! Your suppose to be their for your leader and teammate! This is why your girlfriend probably going to break things off with you!"xander said pointing a finger at her face as she looked away with shame. As he began to walk away but nix rolled her eyes.
"Kid chill out seriously you shouldn't do that to your family"nix said as bastet decided to get involved.
"Oh really? For starters that boy also scafrieced the chance to see his blood family. Someone that is very familiar with and his mother's best friend."bastet added to their shock as sun joined them along with fenix and akasha walking toward the door.
"Yep though seriously…you guys are jerks pretty sure i'd like to meet my family if i don't know who they are"sun adding more guilt. As xander got to the door looking at them glaring.
"Their also mad because he wore a collar their getting shocked every move he made from that captain. After helping with the attack on havan you still think he wants to kill you. But he hoped that his friends wouldn't treat him like dirt…your all jerks!"xander fisnihed slamming the door as the five left the house as they sat in silence for a bit. As lisa scoffed.
"You should go control your kid before i.."lisa couldn't finish as declan stopped her.
"Don't tell me how to raise my kids, i…i need to process alot of things right now. "Declan said as lisa rolled her eyes taking her leave with nix in tow. Sombra began to leave to as she had a very shocked look hearing all this. Blake sat their shocked too realziing something she should have relaized sooner.
Kali just closed her eyes"so…that why all your friends are mad at you. Although dear we should really solve this problem"kali said to her husband who nodded.
"Agreed, but their isn't much to go on right now. We should discuss this tomorrow sienna on what to do about this problem."ghira said as sienna nodded holding her son close as he was awake.
"I..i know..but i'm guessing i should talk to my partner about this tomorrow"sienna suggested as they nodded in agreement. They all soon returned to their repsecitve homes for the night. Once they were back at the blair house xander locked himself in his room refusing to answer anyone it seems. Declan returned to his study to contemplate many things while onxyia sat in the living room looking at the team photo in hand. Her mother was changed into her pajamas as was she. The girl just stared at the photo with some tears forming, her mother noticed taking a seat on the couch with her.
"Dear are you okay, i'm sure your brother didn't mean to do that"katherine reassured wrapping an arm around her daughter who just stared at the team picture.
"I..i know he didn't but…i..i didn't even check to see if he was doing okay"onxyia said to her mother confusion but she knew who she was talking about. The women pulled her daughter down slightly holding her close.
"Let me guess you mean that leader of yours, i noticed it too those bags under his eyes were dark. It seems he hasn't slept in days from the looks of it"katherine replied as her tall daughter just stared at the photo seeing all four of them smiling as tears dripped onto the glass frame.
"Your not wrong…i'm worried about the twins everyday. I'm hurt that velvet hates me now. But..i never thought to see if my…leader was okay"she hesitated on saying leader which her mother noticed.
"Oh why did you hesitated on saying he was your leader"katheirne kwnoingly said made her ears flopped over as she deciding to leave.
"I..i need to get some air…its too stuffy in here"onxyia said as she got up luckily the rain stopped for the night as the porch had watering dripping off it. But she grabbed her coat walking outside but he mother followed but not before grabbing something from the closet. After a bit of walking the girl soon arrived at the same koa pond near her house. She just sat down holding her head right now as she began to quietly cry to herself. Katherine was close behind joining her daughter on the bench placing what she brought behind them.
"Dear are you doing okay? I know your probably upset hearing that from your brother but you didn't know"katherine reassured as her daughter looked at her with tears flowing from her eyes.
"Really? Because i just realzied why cardin was mad at me…i..i probably broke his heart tearing it to pieces. Bun probably hates me since he probably already apologized to her. I was so mad at him for sending that video thinking he did nothing wrong"she begun as her voice slightly cracked as her mother just held her in a side embrace rubbing her back.
"But…but i hate when people mess with my emotions..i thought what we had was special. I grieved for him for a month, but…seeing him alive again made me happy. But i let my stupid emotions control me, i called him what everyone called our people"onxyia continued as her lips quivered before lunging for a hug as her mother returned it.
Katherine shushed her rubbing her head"i know dear, i slightly expected that after everyone reactions that night after the assaination attempt. But i've been where you were before"she said which made onxyia interest peak as she listened to her mother who took her silence for her to continue.
"When i first met your father get in stupid fights every week after we started dating. I thought he was using me for free medical care and maybe after a year togheter i was sick of it. I told him to never come near me again getting sick of healing his so called scraps"she continued
"Though one day i'm told he got in a serious accident by diego that made me rush over to his aid. Grabbing my coat as it was cold that night expecting him to have a broken leg. But instead of that i'm met by a small picnic, i was anger at first but it was the only way i could come"she continued as she reached to her side pulling equinox to her surrpsie as she stared at the koa pond.
The broken moon reflected off it as she smiled at what happened next"i sit down enjoy that small picnic as he apolgized for his antics. That he didn't use me for my semblance, he loved me for who i was. "She finished but decided to ask her daughter a question.
"For starters, i'm sure you feel terrible right now for what you said. But i'm not telling you to give him a second chance that for you to decide. "Katherine said
"But this is important how does he make you feel?"she added
The dual traited faunus thought for a moment recalling the time the two spent back at beacon. She thought he would find her disgusting with two traits, her two different colored eyes, her association with the white fang. He never really cared, he treated her with kindness no matter what. Always looking out for her best interest.
"I..he made me feel special back at beacon, when he finally asked me out. I was overjoyed actually, I thought he found my two traits or different colored eyes digusting. But he called them cute. Vel did too it was weird being in this type of relationship but we made it work very well actually"onxyia said as her tail wagged a little recalling that night on the rooftop.
"He never cared if i was in the fang, he always tried to look out for my best interest. But…all i did now was not even give him a chance. I..i really did love him…but he probably hates me now and so does bun"onxyia finished as tears slipped away. Her mother decided to place the sword on her daughter lap to her confusion.
"Well for starters why don't you see the features of this sword. "Katherine suggested to her daughter confusion. But she hasn't even looked at it because she didn't really care for it. She looked closer seeing her colors on it along with her symbol. Then she noticed a button pressing it as it changed into a hunting pistol.
She studied it"it's a hunting pistol…how did you know about this?"she asked
"I asked your brother about it yesterday, he told me it was meant for your father. But told him it was too thin for him…though you praticing with his sword. "Katherine said as onxyia turned it back into a sword. Then she undid the sheathe staring at the engraving of the blade. She read them outloud.
"Equniox, when light and dark meet at the perfect time of day. Bringing balance to the world"she read aloud as she had a few more tears escape.
Katherine wrapped an arm around her"i know your upset, but try apolgizing tomorrow to your friends. Then decide what you wanna do about you three relationship"katherine said wisley to her daughter who nodded. Soon the two returned to the house as she headed straight for her room. Once inside she placed equinox on her desk as she got into her bed. She just hugged the pillow infront of her crying her eyes missing being held by someone. Her heart ache for that same feeling again as she cried herself to sleep.
Soon enough though a certain blonde will be coming to the island to check up on a cat faunus and her other friends.
The funeral was crashed by zane but this resulted in declan attacking him and others badmouthing still sending xander over the edge. Finally they got their tongue lashing on why everyone was mad. As onxyia missed the same feeling of holding someone close. Thanks for reading!
