Chapter 91:Hidden In Plain Sight
At the front of the clinic right now it wasn't that busy as they waited for the others to arrive from their examination. But as they did aruna kept glancing over at xander as he was doing some paperwork checking some people in.
The bengel faunus has fancied him before but it would feel very awkward to ask him out. For starters they've known each other for their entire lives and their particularly like cousins. Not by blood but their family have known each other for so long.
"Ughh what do i do, how can i ask him out. He must think i'm very dumb from all my antics"she thought recalling she can be childish at times. But she been trying to be more mature lately.
Coco sat their on her scroll glancing at her but looked at her scroll as she spoke.
"So you fancy anyone in this room kid or what?"she bluntly asked which made the girl tail drooped to the ground as she stared at her for a moment.
"Ummm nooo, why are you even asking me that right now?"she nerovusly said but coco just smirked at her knowing something already. She decided to mess with the girl as she placed one hand on her chin staring at her.
"I don't know, you keep glancing over at wolf ears junior over their"coco said gesutring to xander who luckily went to the back and didn't hear them luckily. Aruna just blushed bright red looking away messing with her shirt trying to keep a straight face.
"Um..well.i…uh..okay yes i like him…you gonna tease me?"she asked queitly as the girl shook her head.
"Nah i won't, i may like messing with people when it comes to love. But piece of advice just ask him how he feels about you. Plain and simple"coco wisely said to the girl who thought for a moment taking her words to hurt. But as they waited their soon from the four emerged as zoey stepped forward with a worry look.
"So how we doing? Is my dumb little brother even stupider or what?"zoey asked as he grumbled annoyed hearing that annoyed. He wasn't that dumb, was he?
Nadia just smiled because she got good news"for starters he'll be alright kath just said he needed to get some rest. But bunny ears and wolf boy gotta be his personal nurses pretty much"She joked as from the back xander rolled his eyes. He may be working as an intern here but he'll never wear a nurse outfit…ever.
"Ha ha very funny but thats great to hear. "Xander replied with his bag already in hand. They all soon got up to leave to head back to the house hoping the others had some luck. The guards made a formation as they stepped outside to a small crowd of faunus glaring at them. But they ignored them making their way toward the house.
"Okay once we get to the house whats next?"aruna questioned with her hands on her hip. They could just relax since the others are busy looking for any sign of talon forces on the island.
"Hmm probably just relax, the other are looking for those talon soldier on the island. How their search going?"nadia asked as onxyia looked at her scroll to text them. But noticed the messages left from sombra as she silently cursed to herself.
"Oh no those two people who were murderered was seth friends"oxnyia said getting their attention at the moment. Zane and velvet interest was peeked, was he some ex of hers or something.
"Umm whos he's your ex?"he asked as she just gagged at that several times because she wouldn't imagine that.
"So he is an ex…that isn't going to be awkward now"velvet replied
"Uh heck no you're actually my first boyfriend and girlfirned i ever had"she corrected which made them feel just a little special they were her first.
"Secondly the guys beening sis bully her entire life. Guy think since hes a pure blood he can make fun of her"xander replied in annoyance. Velvet felt a little sad hearing that because she been bullied before. Back in shade some of the beacon students did get bullied for losing their school, with gwens rumors.
"Well…the bullying back in shade was pretty bad for when we lost our school. Along with umm well a few…hitting me"velvet admitted which earned some looks.
"Alright who did it because i heard from sun that gwen spreaded a bunch of rumors theirs. That jerk"onxyia growled bearing her canines
Coco scoffed"hey at least one bullie changed his tune. I'm happy to say i actually like the new cardin winchester"she said proudly it seems as some of them found it funny how she forgiven him after all the torment he delivered back at beacon.
Zoey chuckled"yeah kids alright in my book actually a while back we got mail from him giving our condeslences for your death"she said looking at her brother who was surprised to hear this. He was a glad to have him as a friend now but part of him felt guilty right now for something
"That nice to hear he was such a–"he was stopped mid sentence as some hit him in the head. It knocked him to the ground as he felt around feeling glass in his hair. They all were surprised by this as he shook slightly.
Nadia growled in anger looking toward the one who did it"who threw that?!"she growled as they all turned to the culprit. They look to see seth with his three cronies as he tossed a bottle in the air for a bit as he smuggly smirked at them.
"I did, what you gonna arrest me for attacking a monster"seth taunted making his three cronies laugh as ava leaned against him loving.
"Yeah sethy right, were just doing what we normally do with grimm"ava added
Zoey glared at them cracking her knuckles"kid you better start praying before i arrest you four for assault"she warned as her guard formed a small protect wall around her brother. Onxyia helped him up getting the glass out of his hair as he hugged himself looking down.
Mitch spat to the side snorting wiping his mouth"nah because i thought my uncle would have killed them after supplying him with those weapons"he said which made them relalize how roland got his weapons.
That he helped supply them which just angered nadia even more right now as she clenched her fist. Then she glanced at her kid nodding to her daughter.
"Take him to the house now before I have to give some spanking,"Nadia said, cracking her knuckles as they began to guide him away. But as they did Ava had a brick in hand looking at onxyia as she hucked it at her. It hit the wolf in the head as grunted slightly as she felt her forehead. She moved her hand back, seeing a small bit of blood.
Xander went wide eyed in rage growling as he brought his sword out"what the heck is wrong with you guys?!"he shouted in rage as his ears straighten out. Aruna took out one pistol at the ready as they glared at the girl.
Ava just laughed at him"what not fault that freaky faunus is dating some monster. Man can't believe kai told us that"she said which made the young wolf anger because now he lost another older brother figure. As if his name was said the peacock faunus came out of the clinic with crossed arms.
Coco looked at him for a moment"that guy tipped them off we were here…man what a jerk"she said as onxyia just felt betray because she thought he was nice.
Kai walked over in his normal attire as katherine came out in anger"you quit?! And your reason is because of my daughter friend?"she asked with annoyance glaring at him as he rolled his eyes giving her the middle finger.
"Screw off lady this internship aint worth it for people defending some monster and abnormal faunus"kai replied which just made his relationship with them sour. But velvet looked at the head wound on onxyia and it wasn't that bad.
"Its not that bad lets just go before they start something wolfie"velvet advised as they began to walk off but ava had the gull to throw another brick. This time it nailed velvet in the back of the head as she held her head. Coco went wide eyed in rage as she pulled out her minigun aiming it at them.
"Oh now you done you–"before she even finished a dark blue blur went past them. Then ava was slammed against a wall hard as they looked seeing zane in his prowler form. He snarled at her as he stared at her.
"You can mess with me all you want, but leave them alone. Or else"he warned holding her up with ease as she just looked scared. Then from the side kai tried to punch him but his ears flicked as he dodged it letting ava go. He quickly dodged it then palm strike him then grabbed his arm throwing him over his shoulder to the ground.
Kai grunted as zane panted slightly because he was still pretty tired, he hasn;t had breakfast yet actually. He quickly dropped his armor then from the side seth pushed him to the ground. Then for extra measure he kicked him hard in the chest as a small crack could be heard.
"Better step off murderer before i gotta put you–"but he was stopped as someone soon pushed him away from the kid. The others were shocked to see roland towering over the five looking at them as mitch just smirked at his uncle.
"Uncle great that your here you can finally ki–"mitch was stopped as his uncle jabbed him in the chest.
"Not one word you dam brat, i advise you five mosey your way on out of here. Now"he demanded to their shock and the others. Seth just scoffed as he presented his staff in hand.
"Why not we got this thing dead to right, don't you wanna avenge your da–"he couldn't even finish as roland roared slamming him into a nearby wall. Roland snarled in rage as his tail thrashed almost hitting them.
"Leave my daughter's name out of your mouth, she died as a huntress. Now go before things get ugly"he ordered as they tried to argue but he snarled as they took that as a no. they turned tail running away as he just stared down at the coughing zane holding his chest.
The man just gently helped him back up, guiding him back to the others to their shock. Nadia just stared at him confused because he tried to kill him twice now.
"What..what are you doing? You've tried to kill my kid twice now…what changed?"she asked as he began to walk away with his hands in his pocket.
"She right, your the one who shot him."zoey added to her mother anger but the man just simply sighed rubbing his neck. Then he glanced at them but him exclsuivly just seeing a scared kid with his eyes full of regret and guilt.
"Kid aint bad maybe he does regret what he did. And my little croc wouldn't like me trying to kill someone in her name. Also…team LZRD says thanks"roland said crtpyically confusing them for a bit as he just walked off. They stood their for a bit because maybe letting him go worked in their favor.
"Huh guess letting him go worked but…whos team LZRD?"aruna questioned as velvet thought for a moment.
"Hmm i think i know but lets head back to the house to discuss this real quick"velvet said as they walked back to the house in tow. They wondered how the others were doing right now.
Meanwhile though across the island far off in the sandy dunes of the island was declan and his group driving over toward the taupe estate. Some sand got in their eyes since they were speeding over but they wore some goggles just incase.
But fenix still got some in his mouth as he coughed from the sand. "Ughh can we hurry up i can taste sand and its in places it shouldn't be"he advised
Nix chuckled as she had a scarf around her mouth"hey should have worn a scarf helps protect it from getting in those hard to reach places"she replied to his sagrin. But declan kept focused on the road as he was deep in thought right now. Mainly being what he saw back at the house when those videos were played. He recalled one that made him realize why he brought his friend back.
It was a video of his best friend hes known his whole life, protecting a kid from getting beaten. He still did but he saw the man still trying to do some good before he became one of those things. He was lost in his own world until someone shook him snapping him back to reality.
"Hey dec where almost here, your gonna ram into the gate"nix warned as he went wide eyed slamming on the breaks hard. This caused fenix to get launched slightly in the air but he held on. But they skidded to a stop kicking up sand as they stared at the gate.
Already their waiting for them was one of lisa personally guards as he greeted them.
"Morning you coming by to see ?"he asked as declan nodded placing one arm out the car.
"Yeah just wanted to come and discuss something with her. She here?"he asked as the guard went to his radio for a moment talking to someone. Then he nodded before pressing a button as the gate opened. They took that as a yes as they drove inside the large estate. The women may run a company since it was her family busines. But she doesn't like to be too flashy.
They pulled up to the driveway as a couple guards waited for them. They escorted the three inside to the air conditioned home from the blazing heat. The one plus side to ice dust, they make great for airconditioners.
Nix sighed in relief wiping some sweat off her"fianlly out of the dam heat i thought we melt out their"she said
"Yes, but try living in the vacou deserts. Its brutal their even with the local wildlife their"fenix replied as declan chuckled at that. He recalled the time he went one on one with a deathstalker which was tough. But he managed to kill it by taking out its stinger. Then he drove the dam thing into its skull with the help of his semblance.
"Your not wrong about that, but don't forget why were here"he reminded as they nodded. They needed to tell lisa that those two grimm on their island means no harm. It made him mad that she was so quick to turn them over and none the less a child. She need to be confronted.
The guards escorted them to a pair of wooden doors as they opened them to reveal lisa hard at work. Her office mainly consisted of large bookcase on either side of the room as the floor of the room was wooden like the rest of her house. But she also had a wooden desk with her company logo on it. While she also had a rug infront of that also had her company symbol. She was busy writing down on some paper work as she glanced up at them smirking.
"I see you've come to finally listen to reason and give those to those mercs?"lisa asked not looking up continuing her work. They all took their seats as they sat in silence until declan closed his eyes sighing.
"For starters no, i've already explained to you that those two mean no harm. That uras girl has been here for almost two months now. Shes just a child"he said as lisa became slightly irritated by that.
Fenix nodded placing his hand together"hes right, secondly we've discuss this before that my friends son means no harm. You need to stop trying to kill a–"fenix begun but lisa just put a hand up stopping him as he obliged.
The women just set her pen down then stood up as she walked to a small bar. She quickly grabbed a glass as she grabbed a bottle. Then she twisted the cap off as she poured the amber rich liquid into it. After getting it to a certain point to set the bottle down then picked her glass up.
Then she walked over to the window overlooking the vast dune of the island as she stared out it. "I don't care if those things are children, our entire island is in danger now. First we had the white fang to worrie about causing chaos everywhere they go. "She begun taking a sip then slightly looked back but kept her eyes forward.
"Yes we understand that, but where working on dealing with them right now. Once we stop the attack on havan we might fix the ties between our kind and humans"declan said in confidence knowing they could do it. But she just rolled her eyes taking another sip.
"Oh and now the second problem, grimm hybrids people who are part grimm. Abominations that aren't even normal, these foul creatures have no soul. Our entire society is based around killing them but you defend two of them like their on our side"lisa begun as she paced around as they looked at her.
"How long until one of those two decided to attack someone. What will you let that little girl get away with murder giving her a slap on the wrist? I've seen your daughter hanging around her, what happens if she attack her. Hmm?"she continued looking at fenix who went wide eyed slightly.
Fenix closed his eyes"its a possibilite but she hasn't harmed a fly at all since she been here. Those two seemed to have become fast friends even"he replied because his little lion seemed to be really good friends with the little girl.
Lisa then looked toward nix as she decided to recall what happened at the funeral.
"That thing attacked you after you tried to restrain it, then you receive a nasty head wound. Are you insane enough to defend two monsters letting them kill more people. "She said as nix just stayed silent. She didn't like the kid at all but seeing that video that night, it changed her views a little. Hearing about these chimeras and how her teammate was being used by one. It pained her when she heard that happen to him. Then she finally got to declan as the two stared each other down for a while.
"Then theirs you, i heard that thing is dating your daughter. How long until that thing will kill her hmm or your son. It may say it won't but how do you know that isn't true. "Lisa begun as she set her glass down with arms behind her back.
"What then? You let your own kids join a terrorist organization that has brought nothing but harm to our people. She may have realized her mistakes but through the grapevine i heard she participated in several raids on villages. Along with your family association with , you need to stop making terrible choices' 'she continued making him reach his boiling point as his tail thrashed around. Lisa just looked at a frame photo picking it up because it was her with nix, declan and amrborise and finally her husband. Before he was turned into this so called monster.
"In my opinion my husband would be dis–"lisa didn't finish as declan roared in rage smashing his hand down as he made a small crater onto her desk knocking her stuff off. The guards in the room reached for their weapons but fenix and nix stared at them not to do it.
"What in the name of re–"she didn't finish as declan just put a hand up
"Stop! I know my kids made terrible decision but at least I didn't send my daughter to a boarding school for assassin"he spat back which made her visible back up as he began his rant.
"For starters my partner and best friend i've known since i was just a kid. He would give the benefit of a doubt…always trying to do the right thing. "Declan said as he took a deep breath to compose himself for a moment.
Then he stared at her with a somber look"but you'd spit on his name right now saying he be disappointed. You two fell for each other because of your compassion after he died you became resented anyone for helping those in need"he said as he walked around scaring her slightly but to her shock he just pulled the women into an embrace holding her gently.
"Your daughter is upset how your acting…she all you got left. I know your trying to keep her safe not wanting to lose her just like him"he continued as the women just went wide eyed because he hit the mark. She was scared of losing her little girl just like her husband, but she doesn't want those things to start another fall here.
"I..i..people are dying because those mercnaries want those two. We need to gi–"before she finished nix interjected on the matter. She pulled a chair up then placed it backward staring at her.
"Look we could cave into their demands, but those guys are the employed under the man who made them. "She said which made the women go wide eyed hearing that. The guards were surprised to as they decided to play this card.
"We give them up then he'll just turn them against us. Do you really wanna see an innocent little girl become a murderer. I've seen the other kid…and hes regreted his involvement…and so did your husband. "Nix sadly begun as she nodded to declan who released his hold on her as the three nodded deciding to make their leave. But as they did he stopped placing a hand on the doorframe looking at her with a somber look.
"I know your mad that they couldn't save him, your just mad those two are normal. But not him…if we got to him on time we could have. He loved you and your daugther till the end no matter what"declan said leaving the women who just stood their for a bit.
The guards looked at her motion them to leave. They did closing the door behind her as she just stared at the window seeing the three get back in their car leaving. The women just stood their for a bit until something hot ran down her face.
Lisa had tears escaping her eyes as she sat back in her chair sobbing because they were right. She resents those two because why coudln't her husband be saved. Their wasn't a day that went by that she missed him, and hearing he was alive pained her. But hearing he was a grimm hybrid hurt more and she just didn't wanna lose her little girl like him.
The sabertooth faunus just sat in her office crying thinking about what they said to her. While the jeep drove off declan just looked in the mirror seeing the estate hoping she took his words to heart. And she could show that heart of gold she used to have.
Early with some others who were searching the thick jungle and forest near part of the island. Their was nothing stirring as the wildlife minded their busy as some birds tweeted in their trees. But soon enough some foliage was cut curiosity of akata whos sliced through some vines and other bushes to make way. She kept doing this with the other behind her making some csaully conversation.
"So wait your telling us you, that lazuli chick and adam tarrus took down a legendary grimm"may asked with her sniper out at the ready pointing at yang who nodded.
"And that its been alive for like two hundred years"sun added as she nodded again.
"Along with seeing a ghost of some dead guy or whatever"akata added as she nodded yet again
Sombra seemed invested as she was starry eye hearing this"then you guys managed to take it down by tricking then killing it"she added in excitment as the blonde groaned very loud you could hear it from across the island.
"Yes! Seriously, i got to kill a legendary grimm which was fricking awesome"yang said as her and sun high fived.
Sombra right now was in awe because she always heard stories about what being a huntresses is like. Along with hearing several stories about her dad how he was the best huntsman around. She was glad to finally begin training to become one.
May chuckled"really? Well all we've done in the last few weeks is managed to stop two grimm knights. We win"may said to the dismay of yang who rolled her eyes hearing that. Because she managed to take a legendary grimm that terrozied the anima for years, but with some help.
Yang just cracked her knuckles for a moment"yeah well anything you guys wanna talk about. We gotta check this place then head back to the house"she asked as the group tried to come up with a topic to discuss. As they kept teaching through the dense forest as akata grunted slashing at another vine it hit may. she stayed at her and zoey place for a while now and was curious how these two foxes met exactly.
"Hmm i got one, and its for the fox faunus where following"may said which made akata glance back at her as she kept slicing through the thick forest and brush with her gunbreaker.
Akata slashed another vine and bush sweating slightly"alright ask away…what do you wanna know about me?"She asked as she asked a very strange question.
"Heres a question how'd you and that foxy of yours meet. Surprised you two aint married yet"may asked catching them offguard as akata tail drooped slightly but wagged in excitement at that. The girl had a mischievous look on her face as she hummed at that.
"Oh that its kinda interesting actually….wanna hear it?"she asked as they thought for a moment because they had nothing better to do right now.
"Eh sure thing might pass the time while we keep looking for any sigh of these mercs"sun replied as the arctic fox faunus began her small tale how she met her current love. Because she recalled that day just like it was yesterday.
Flashback five years
It was five years ago on the island of menagerie right now as it was a bright and sunny day on the island. Nothing was wrong as the faunus were doing their daily task for the day not bothered by anything. Although in the streets right now was a younger akata who still a huntress in training at the time but visiting the faunus island in awe of the place.
Right now she was wearing a pair of icy blue yoga pants that had a hole for easier access for her tail. While she wore a mini skirt that was icy blue as well along with blue knee high boots. Also she wore a simple white long sleeve athletic shirt. With some pouches on her hips along with her weapon strapped to her side.
For one she never been here before and was very new to the place, but she was so enamroed in the scenery. Because their were faunus she never seen before here as she spun around smiling as her tail wagged around.
"Man this is something i never expected to be here. The island of the faunus"akata said in awe as she kept walking forward humming to herself. But off to the side a couple faunus eyed her for a moment smiling because they decided to follow her.
It wasn't long as she kept walking for what seemed like minute until soon enough she was about to turn a corner. But then someone wrapped an arm around her to her annoyance. She looked to see a male faunus their who was very close to her right now. Mainly grabbing her chest which just disgusted her.
"Hey their pretty fox you new around here?"the first guy asked
Akata rolled her eyes"why no i'm actually a native of the place believe it or not"she replied trying to break away but soon felt something press against her hip. It felt like a gun, a pistol judging by the barrel size.
"Oh really because we overheard you saying you never been here before"the second said hiccuping as a smell assaulted her nose that being both of them were intoxicated.
The second smirked looking at her chest"yeah we could show you around for a fee of course."he said as she just readied her grip on her gunbreaker growling at them. She had enough of this because she may be in training still but she won't let them just get all handsy with her.
"About that i'll be fine i'm meeting a friend here just let me.."before she finished she felt something prick her in the side of the neck. Then something rush into her neck she managed to break free as she felt slightly woozy. She looked seeing a syringe in one of the man hands as she slowly stumbled into an alleyway.
While she did the two men slowly approach her with as she stumbled down the alleyway trying to stay conscious. The two drunken men were slowly approaching her as she quickly brought her gunbreaker out. The fox took a swing at one of them and managed to hit one of them slightly taking one of their auras. But he just smirked as he just taunted her.
"Aww does the little fox have some bite…good that means the more fun"he said as he lunged at her as she struggled slightly. But then pushed them away but as she did she dropped her weapon to the ground. Her head felt funny along with her breathing beind heavy as she could barely keep a thought going.
The girl just fell against a corner panting as one of the men grabbed her arm squeezing it hard almost painfully. The girl was starting to lose consciosu as her weapon was out of reach.
"No..please…someone…anyone please help me"she woozily said as she looked toward the passing faunus who just ignored her. The second man just laughed as he ripped off her part of her top tearing it at the bottom.
The first just laughed"no one going to help you time have some fun"he said as she slowly passed out from the drugs effectives. But as she did she could make out a blur coming forward that rushed forward toward her aid it seems then she blacked out. Along with a muffled voice she couldn't hear along with someone carrying her to somewhere safe it seems.
Then soon enough she woke up not knowing how long she was about but she was alive. She felt over her bodie as she felt warm like an extra blanket was on her. She began to stirr awake her yellow eyes and was met by a simple bedroom that had a door open. Almost immediately she was met by a groggy feeling as she held her head.
"Ughh what happened"she said to herself until someone spoke up.
"Hey your awake, thought you were a goner"a female voice said as she looked up seeing a younger zoey in similar attire she wore today. She had a tray of food in hand as she walked over placing it on a table.
Akata rubbed her head groaning"ughh where am i? And what the heck happened?"she asked as the fox faunus chuckled feeling her head to her confusion.
"For starters you got drugged, but me and the captain noticed you in trouble. We dealt with those two creeps and their behind bars. "Zoey said before pushing the tray infront of her as it was four chicken legs, four poached eggs and a big glass of milk.
"Though you may hunger, you were out for a day"she added as akata was about to say something but her stomach rumbled. She blushed slihglty before she picked up her utensil digging into her food as it tasted like heaven sort of. The eggs were very salty.
"Whoa you must have been hunger, i haven't even gottan your name yet"zoey replied as akata had her mouth stuffed before swallowing panting slightly. Then she set her utensil down offering a hand.
"Akata blizz mistral huntress in training…what your name cutie"akata greeted catching the girl offguard as she blushed before she grabbed her hand smiling.
"Zoey vix, i'm apart of the menagerie royal guard"she greeted back as her tail wagged from the comment. The two fox stayed quiet for a bit until they stared at each other for a moment before the arctic fox decided to ask the question because she seemed like a native to the place.
"So wanna show me around town and escort me so no more creeps attack me"she said offering a hand as the girl thought for a moment before nodding shaking it. Soon enough those two soon had a new type of friendship form.
Present.
As akata finished her story the four were surprised that how she met the second in command of the menagerie royal guard.
May messed with her beanie slightly"so thats how you two met huh getting drugs and assulted earn you a girlfriend"She replied as the girl just laughed at that.
"I know and soon after me and my foxy started to get to know each more. It was long distance since i studied at havan but when i graduated we moved in together. Been in love ever since"she said as she eyed some of the teens especially sun and sombra as the sabertooth blushed slightly looking at him. She took noticed of this deciding to ask them a question.
"Anywho you all got anyone you fancy i know blonde dating the faunus princess"akata said catching some off guard making may blush slightly while sombra blushed cherry red. Sun was a little caught off guard but flexed his arms.
"Oh yeah though man tough luck i kinda fancied cat ears for a while"Sun said which dismayed sombra but yang punched his shoulder.
"Well for starter i bagged her, though guess me and her are arrangement sort of thing"she said which confused them slightly then it hit them for a moment.
Akata chuckled at tht"oh man your right the leader of the branwhen tribe daughter and cheifitan daughter is like an arrange marriage"She said as they laughed a little at that for a moment because it was poetic in a way.
"Yeah though tough luck sun, always struggling with the ladies. You ever gonna find a girl"may asked as he shrugged his shoulder.
"Eh i fancy some chick in this said group, but i'll never tell"sun replied smoothly which peeked sombra interest a little. But before she could say anything several voices could be heard up ahead as akata motion for them to be quiet. Then she motioned for them to follow as they did.
It took them a bit to naitvagate stheily through the forest until they found something. They saw about seven people crowding around something two of them were liz and august with asani close by. But they noticed the other four with them wearing crimson talon outfits.
"Huh guess we hit the jackpot, found some soldier in these neck of the woods"yang signed to akata who nodded. Then she pulled her scroll out texting showing them it.
"Guess we got some sheeps in wolf clothing in town"he said but sun was confused seeing those three here since they met them yesterday.
"Yeah but uh aren't those three that faunus couple we ran into yesterday"he texted on his scroll as yang went wide eyed. They must be spies working for them as they listened to them. One of the soldier had a radio in hand talking to somone.
"Control recon team has successfully located primary two targets. That uras girl in the house"the soldier radioed as someone responded as it played outloud.
"Good the sooner we capture them, sooner we can leave this filth hole. The boss wants result now"sangie voice said through the radio as liz took over the radio.
"Yes, and we've kept our ruse up so far. We'll keep an eye out for anything, but the brat drone keeps messing up"she said glaring at asani who nervously backed up hugging herself shaking visible as her mask displayed a scared emoticon.
"I..i..um i..told you it had short range..i..i'm sor–"before she finished one of the soldier rifle bashed her in the back of the head. This just surprised them seeing them doing that to her as she layed on the ground shaking. The soldier knelt down hositng her up as august grabbed her by the throat choking her slightly.
"Enough excuse, fix it or else slave we feed you to the grimm on the island. Better yet bring you to tau and feed her to her pet. "August said as he had a wicked grin appear on his face.
"The thing loves young kids more than those silver eyed vermin"he said as may noticed something on his neck. A symbol of a closed eyed as the sniper went wide eyed. She recalled a local cult in vacou that called the unseen eye. But soon enough as sombra moved around a bit she stepped on a tree branch snapping it. This alerted the five as they stared over at the bushes then as they waited. A yellow blur zoomed forward as it connected with one of the soldier launching him into a tree. Yang stood their with her guanlent out as she cracked her knuckles.
Immediately the others emerged as sun pole vaulted over with his staff as he whacked a guard firing at him. He smacked them hard cracking their side but the guard pushed back. Then he blasted him back taking a small kit of his aura. But he quickly changed his weapon to his ninchaku form twirling it firing a flurry of fire dust at him.
With akata she quickly blocked a sword strike from liz who glared at her. Then she pushed her back dealing several slashes to her aura chipping it slightly. But akata pushed back as she swifty dodged another strike then slashed at her taking a large of her aura. Next she blasted her back firing a gravity dust round into her.
A soilder tried to stab at sombra but she blocked it with her spear then pushed him back. She lunged forward with a war cry stabbing him and jabbing him a few times. The soldier stumbled before she twirled the pole end of the staff knocking them into another. Yang threw her fist forward launching several shotgun blast into august who kept getting hit. He roared in rage as he clocked her hard with his hammer launching her into a tree.
The blonde growled in anger smacking her fist together as she was about to attack him. But as she got close a purple beam hit him sending him flying into a tree. May was ontop a tree branch perch giving a wave as she nodded. But as they fought sombra looked as liz and some soldier regroup as they got near the thick part of the forest. She soon pulled out a small ball and pistol as she aimed at sun.
The moneky faunus grinned going forward with his staff but as liz pulled the trigger. A loud gun shot rang out as sun stopped dead in his dead. He felt his side for a moment seeing a bullet hole their. The monkey faunus groaned falling back to their shock.
"Sun!"sombra cried as she growled lunging forward but liz threw the grenade down enveloping them in a blinding light. As it soon died down all that left was them and august who was pinned underneath a tree branch.
Immediately may slide down the tree toward sun who groaned on the ground holding his side. Along with sombra as they looked seeing a bullet hole in his bodie as blood slowly seeped from it.
"What the heck…ughh my aura didn't shatter…what gives?"sun asked groaning as akata thought of something.
"Anti-aura bullet their a rare caritage but guess they got a few i guess. Patch him up we gotta talk to him"akata said as her and yang approached the pinned august. As they did yang grabbed him by the collar lifting him up.
"Alright talk wheres your base, tell us what we..'yang stopped as he cracked something in his mouth. Then to their shock he started to violent shake then froth at the mouth. She let him go as he did violent shook until stopping. Akata felt his neck and their was no pulse.
"Sucide capsule guess they didn't want anyone to know anything"akata said but with may and sun. luckily they brought a medkit and the bullet went through. May was just finishing up applying the medical pad but sombra had tear forming thinking he was about to die.
'Please..please be okay..because..i..um..i.."sombra said as the two stared at each other for a bit as he was sitting up.
Sun looked at her smiling closing his eyes"what? Don't worry i'll be fine, smile more your cuter that way"he said as sombra just soon did something unexpected.
She just locked lips with him as the three just stared at her doing this right now after seeing a guy die. Sun tail went straight up as he didn't mind before wrapping an arm around her. This continued for a bit until undoing it as may finished patching him up as the two stared at the three.
Sombra blushed bright red as sun just smirked as the monkey faunus just got a kiss.
"Okay that not weird at all but hey you two kissed or whatever. We should warn the others"yang said feeling slightly awkward. They all agreed as sombra decided to carry sun on her back but kept blushing as akata began to mess with them on the way back to the house.
Once they got back to the house they taked about their little adventure. But sombra was heavily embarrassed while nix kept laughing at her.
"Oh..oh you..you are your fathers daughter"nix said continually laughing to the girl embarrassment as her tail kept wagging around.
Declan simply chuckled"ah kinda remind me how him and your mother met, ah good times"he said reminiscing about the old times.
Sun had a bandaged wrapped around his waist, he didn't die but the guy was all smiles right now. Because for starters he finally got a girl, and she was sitting awfully close to him now.
"Yeah, though man still can't believe those bullets exist,"sun said rubbing his side.
"Well for starters we were lucky they didn't kill you, but that guy did kill himself"yang replied as emerald scoffed recalling what they said.
"Not surprised those freaky cultist are working with them, fricking nutjobs"emerald said peeking their interest.
"What you run into these guys before or something?"jazmine questioned
Emerald shook her head"nope try mercury, back in the day his dad killed their leader for a job. They hunted him down eventually killing him then that when we met. "She started as may finished the explanation.
"Their also a cult of assassin for hire, their based out of vacou. Mainly they come into city or small settlements to take people for their scarfieces for their all seeing one"may said in air quotes
"Along with being the ones who tried to kidnap my wife and daughter. Probably to get to leo"Fenix reminded
Summer just stared down for a moment"it seems were dealing with her cult now, of course that women worshipers would come here"she thought to herself.
Although close by at another spot in the living room verona was walking over handing zane the cup of tea she made. Mainly a mix of herbs and some chamemeal tea, she knows a thing or two about making certain blends.
"Here drink this kid it'll help you sleep because you look like you need it"she said as he just looked down nodding. He hesitated slightly but drank it, to his surprise to was good and he felt relaxed a little.
"This is um actually good…thank you ma'am"he thanked setting the cup down
"No problem though early you guys said you ran into that roland fellow again"she asked as kali was close by intrigued.
Nadia nodded as she held her drink"yeah for starters letting him go seemed to work in our favor. Guys saved him from his lovers long time bullies"she said as onxyia blushed slightly from hearing that. Her head was bandaged thanks to zane early as velvet got a small bump on her head.
Kali was overjoyed actually"finally listening to reason, my old friend did have a temper. But he cherished his daughter like none other"She said as velvet nodded as she was looking at her scroll finding something.
"Also when he said team LZRD no wonder they sounded familiar"she said showing her scroll to them showing the list of dead student but one stood out that being lapiz diles.
"Huh that his daughter name although last i recall she attended shade academy with three other girls."kali replied as she had some good news on that team.
"Extactly back when we got to vacou alot of the shade students bullied the beacon students. Except for some of them their team also, i didn't know why. But the three told us you helped save them"she said pointing to zane who sat their for a moment as he closed his eyes recalling something. He did save alot of teams back in the city the best he could but some of them still lost members.
"I..i guess i did, just wanted to make up for one mistake"he sadly said but he just got tapped on the shoulder curiosity of cardin.
"Relax you didn't have control but hey some people wouldn't be here today. That what matter"he wisley said to the students' shock but he smiled slightly but still felt guilty.
"Yeah but still can't believe kai tipped them off. I thought he was a good guy. Guess not"xander stated disappointed since he lost two people he looked up to him and ollie. But a thought crossed his mind looking at zane thinking of a possibility.
Coco nodded"guy showed his true color but at least i can proudly say i like the new whicnhster"she said proudly which made cardin feel great. The other were happy the guy went from bully to best guy around actually.
"Thanks, i try my best but took that uh punishment to change my tune"cardin replied smiling at the thought but aruna seemed starry eyed because of what he did to kai early.
"Though you gotta show me how you did that to kai sometime"aruna asked as he rubbed his neck thinking about it.
"I..um could..but it not that interesting just basic CQC. just something that the guys back at atlas taught me"he replied not really wanting to brag right now about his time in atlas. They just stared at him because for one it was interesting.
"Keep telling yourself that, but what to you call that new armor form of yours?"zoey questioned as he thought for a moment before going into his prowler form as he flexed open his hand presenting his claws.
"She right because didn't you call that tank form of yours like titan and that butter knife of yours slasher"cardin replied which made his pupiless eyes widden as his ears flopped over slightly.
"Umm i call it prowler…but..i really don't like using slasher anymore. Never again"he said sadly said because he hated it now.
"Oh just stop being so moppy besides revenge"onxyia said as she lightly scratched behind on his ear. He went wide eyed as he slightly blushed from the touch but didn't resist. She scratched behind his ears as his tail whipped around as a whining noise came from him.
Nadia just laughed smirking"oh..oh my god are you whining like a dog?"she replied knowingly.
"Uhh..nooo"zane said trying to hide the fact he whined
"Hmm did anyone else hear it?"onxyia asked as several of them close by nodded. This is when onxyia got an idea as he glared at her.
"Don't you dare i'll go mo.."he begun but he was met by another scratching session as he felt relaxed as he slinked down in pure bliss right now as the others found it funny. After a bit she stopped as his ears flopped over
"Huh guess this is her revenge for you pulling her tail while under mind control"vance reminded
"So do you wanna keep being moopy or what?"onxyia asked with a smile on her face.
"No..but still sorry about that..again"he replied
Katherine smiled sighing"ah i remember when i used to do that for you and xander when you stressed out. "She recalled as velvet got curious placing a hand on his chest surpsignly feeling very soft fur.
"Oh my god…it feels like actually fur why does it feel so soft"velvet said leaning against him making him feel very embarrassed as cardin got curious placing a hand on his shoulder as the two stared at each other.
"Huh she right guess you two can hug him like a teddy bear now"he cheekly said making him molt it off with an embarrassed enough they had dinner for the night as they discuss their finding. They suggested maybe canceling the speech for tomorrow but they have plenty of people to protect them. Along with qualified huntresses and huntsman the teens included which made them feel content. Soon they retired to their homes for sleep.
But across the island right now at the coastline outpost the entire base was looking in the middle at sangie. She was busy beating the living crap out of liz for her mistake early as the women face was heavily bruised. Two soldier held her up as sangie wiped her bloody hands.
"You dam idiot! Now they know where reconing the town, soon enough they'll find our base"she said cracking her fist across her skull as the women gasped for air. She couldn't even talk before the women just motioned for yohi to finish her off.
He walked over as he sliced something then liz bodie fell forward without her head attached. Asani quivered in fear as the women stared at her.
"For starters your lucky you aint being punished right now, its her fault for being followed. "Sangie begun as she placed her hands togthers.
"Although you all completed placing those gifts around the island?"she asked as the girl nodded telling her yes. Then she contemplated something as she eyed something close by. That being two atlas powersuit with their mercenary groups colors.
"Good their a speech tomorrow i heard a speech will be held tomorrow. Which means we can negotiate with their chieftain. Hand us over the assets or we blow them to kingdom come"she said grinning evily as asani looked at her in fear. Soon enough her remaining soldier prepared for tommorrow while she hoped to complete her task. But unknown to her the girl did something to those bombs of her, and hopes to stop them.
Well here we go another ship has sailed and its with sun and sombra who i've been hinting at times. Though we also got backstory on zoey and akata on how they first met. The talon spys have been found out though i wonder what will happen? Thanks for reading!
