Chapter 1: Akurama Jashin
Jashin vs Moka: King Me by Daddyphatsnaps
-Tokyo, Japan-
"So, you ended up passing the entrance exam?" A teenager asked the kid whose desk he was sitting on.
"Surprisingly, yeah. But unfortunately no school is willing to take me." The kid in question replied as he idly scrolled on his phone.
The boy in question was a brunette with brown eyes and a darker than fair complexion, his eyes seemed to be in a perpetually bored expression that matched the rest of him.
"Well that bites. Where are you gonna go now?" The other guy asked.
"No idea." The boy sighed as he looked away from his phone and fiddled with something around his neck—a Talisman of a severed finger.
"Well you gotta figure something out or you're screwed." The other guy said.
The kid sitting on his desk was a boy with a fairer complexion with messy ash blonde hair, yellow catlike eyes, pointed teeth, and was wearing a yellow cardigan over his uniform.
"Yeah, yeah, I know that Tamiko." The brunette sighed.
"Just saying, Tsukune." The catlike boy sighed with a shrug. "… Ya know. You could always enroll at the same school I'm going to." He pointed out.
"Which is…?" Tsukune prodded with a raised eyebrow.
"Yokai Academy." Tamiko replied, handing him a form. "Here, I even have an extra form." He added.
"Yokai… Academy?" The brunette parroted slowly. "… Huh." He uttered.
"Don't worry. You'll get by, especially if you have friends." Tamiko told him.
"Ugh, what a pain…" Tsukune groaned. "Getting alone time is hard enough as it is with my parents." He lamented.
"Ah don't worry about it." The blonde waved dismissively.
(Later)
Tsukune was busy filling out the form Tamiko gave him, which was simple enough. Then he reached a line that asked for the name of his "Monster Race."
Perplexed by why such a question would be asked on an official form, so he wasn't sure how to respond to it.
Then he suddenly heard a whisper in his mind that he couldn't explain, and it compelled him to write "Asura" on it. So did exactly that.
"What the fuck am I signing up for…?" He whispered to himself, wondering if Tamiko was pulling a prank on him.
Putting the letter into an envelope, he slipped it into the mailbox and sent it off.
Now all that was left was the wait.
(Timeskip)
A few weeks later, Tsukune was on the bus heading to Yokai Academy, Tamiko sleeping in the seat next to him.
"Hey kid." The bus driver said. "You a new student at Yokai Academy?" He asked.
"Yeah, and that goes for the sleeping boy next to me." Tsukune replied in a bored tone.
"Well you best watch yourselves, that's one scary ass school you're going to." The man said.
"As long as whoever's there leaves me alone, it can be as scary as it wants." The boy scoffed, not particularly caring about whatever he's greeted with.
"Mmm, tuna and mayo…" Tamiko purred as he yawned, rolling over in his sleep.
Both Tsukune and the bus driver sweatdropped at that.
"... Is he usually like that?" The driver wondered.
"Yeah, this is actually normal." The boy confirmed with a nod and a facepalm. Then his phone rang. "Hello?" He questioned.
"Hey, Tsukune." A girl's voice said at the other end.
"Oh, hey cous. What's with the unexpected call?" Tsukune asked.
"Well, I heard that you're going to a place called Yokai Academy." The girl said.
"Yeah, both me and Tamiko are going." The boy nodded.
"That's cool and all, but what I have to say is a big deal." The boy's cousin told him. "I did some digging, and I found out that Yokai Academy is a–" She continued before the bus entered a tunnel, and the call abruptly ended.
"What the?" The boy questioned. "Shit, lost the signal." He sighed, leaning back. "Guess I'll try later." He hummed, going to sleep himself.
(Later)
"You two be careful out there." The bus driver told the boys as they got off the bus, showing them in their new uniforms.
It consisted of a red tie, a white shirt, khakis, loafers, and a green sport jacket—except in the case of Tamiko, who insisted on wearing a green cardigan.
"Man, I'm still tired." The catlike teen yawned.
"That's because you basically slept the whole time." Tsukune deadpanned.
"Well, it was a boring trip." Tamiko shrugged as they walked.
Around them was a forest of dead trees, and back at the bus stop was a scarecrow of all things instead of a sign.
"Okay, what did you rope me into?" The brown haired boy asked flatly as he looked at his friend.
"Rope you into?" Tamiko questioned. "Bro, it was either go here, or spend your days working at some 9 to 5 job." He told the boy as they entered some woods.
"Yeah, but I feel like I just jumped into a bonfire, for some reason." Tsukune retorted.
"Oh trust me, if I was throwing you into a bonfire…" The cat boy said as he waltzed ahead of his friend. "I'd have the decency to tell you to your face before you landed on the pyre." He added with a Cheshire smile before skipping away.
Tsukune stopped for a moment before he groaned and shook his head. He was about to start walking again when he heard the sound of flapping wings, causing him to look up and see… A bat.
"Just me, a bat! Weee!" Said sonar guided rodent exclaimed as he flew away.
"... Am I on drugs, or is this some crazy ass fever dream?" The boy wondered in bewilderment. "Seriously, that isn't nor– GAH!" He started to add before grunting as something crashed into him from behind.
The boy tumbled to the ground with a thud with whoever crashed into him—and as he sat back up, he saw that the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen was underneath him.
She had pink hair (something he never saw before), unbelievably fair skin and supple skin, and emerald green eyes. She was wearing the standard uniform, and he could feel how generous her figure was.
Like the boy said—she was gorgeous.
"Um… Hi." Tsukune said as he looked at the girl while she looked back at him… right before their moment was halted by the boy's talisman slipping out of his shirt.
"Huh?" The pinkette uttered with a blink, looking at the object. "Why do you have a finger talisman?" She asked curiously.
"Huh? Oh." The boy questioned before both sat up. "It's a… Family heirloom, kinda." He explained, thumbing the object. "My grandfather left it to me before he died last month." He added, tucking the necklace away.
"Oh… S-Sorry to hear that…" The girl said quietly with a sad look on her face.
"It's fine. He passed peacefully, so that's what matters." The brunette shrugged as he helped the girl up. "My name is Tsukune Aono." He told her.
"Moka Akashiya." The pinkette replied with a smile as she picked her pink bike up.
The two continued to walk together from then on and slowly got to know each other as they did.
As it turned out, the girl had as much poor luck as he did in school due to a myriad of factors.
Something he could honestly relate to.
It was also stated that she was a Vampire, which was apparently an S-Class super monster. This made the boy start thinking that he was either at a school with a gimmick—or at a literal school for monsters.
"Okay, so what class would an Asura like me be?" He questioned.
"Z-Class, due to their power and rarity in the world. Why?" Moka asked in reply.
"Just curious." The boy replied with a shrug.
"So your friend helped you get in, and he just left you behind?" Moka questioned. "Well that's not nice." She pouted.
"Trust me, I'm gonna clock him on the head for that stunt." Tsukune told her dryly. "His name is Tamiko Toga, he's been my best friend since grade school." He explained.
"What kind of monster is he?" The vampire asked.
"My guess? A cat Yokai. Like the ones in Shippeitaro." The Asura boy replied. "Then again, he does love fish with all his heart, so that's a bit of a giveaway." He mused.
"That does sound like a giveaway." Moka chuckled.
"Yeah." The boy nodded as they entered their school.
(Later)
"Good morning everyone!" Their teacher, a blonde bombshell of a woman in glasses, a leopard print tube top, pink shirt and a black Lycra skirt smiled. "I'm Shizuka Nekonome, and I'm your teacher for this year." She told them.
'Probably a cat yokai, if her tube top is anything to go by.' Tsukune guessed mentally.
And off to the side he could see that Tamiko was positively smitten with the woman in front of him.
'Meow, I'd love to get into heat with her.' The blonde purred in his head.
"Now, the one thing to know about this school is that everyone is a monster." The woman beamed, confirming Tsukune's thoughts from earlier.
'I knew I felt like I was thrown into a bonfire…' He deadpanned mentally, his brow twitching.
As he simmered in his thoughts, a kid that sat next to him was giving him the stink eye, which the brunette noticed—and didn't appreciate.
"Can I help you?" The boy questioned, turning and looking at the punk in question.
"You smell like a human." The punk remarked.
"Because I was around too many of them." Tsukue grunted, giving a little lie for the time being.
"So, what? That some sort of camouflage?" The punk questioned.
"Kinda." The brunette shrugged as he turned away and brought out his grandfather's talisman again, noticing that it seemed to be… warmer than he remembered.
He'd have to contemplate that later.
His thoughts were interrupted when he heard the door open, causing him to look and see Moka standing there.
"Oh, so Moka's in the same class as me and Tamiko." The boy noted, putting away his necklace for the time being—not noticing the murderous and terrified auras the kids around him gained when they saw it.
"Tsukune! We're in the same class!" The pinkette exclaimed gleefully as she tackled him to the ground, much to everyone's surprise.
"Hey Moka. Good to see you too." The boy smiled as he hugged her back.
(Later)
"So let me get this straight." Tamiko said as he, Tsukune and Moka all sat down to lunch together. "I leave you to your own devices for one minute, and you already got yourself a girlfriend?" The Bakeneko questioned. "Tsukune, my man, you work fast." He mused, drinking from a glass bottle of milk.
"That's because you ditched me in the woods, you ass." The brown haired teen deadpanned in response. "I still owe you a punch to the head, by the way." He added.
"Nawww~! Now why ya gotta be like that, bud? Seems like you should be thanking me!" The cat boy snickered, taking a bite of an onigiri.
"You did run off and leave him on his own." Moka pointed out.
"It's not like it was intentional. We got separated." The Cheshire boy pointed out, snapping up a tuna sashimi before chasing it down with some milk. "Oh, by the way man." He noted. "I'd be more careful with bringing out your gramps' talisman. It's got some seriously rancid vibes coming off it that'll draw unwanted attention." He added.
"Noted." Tsukune shrugged before he felt himself get yanked into the air… By the same punk from earlier. "I think I just found that unwanted attention…" He sighed.
"Uh, more like it found you, man." Tamiko gulped, backing away from the situation with Moka.
"I have a bone to pick with you, you little shit!" The punk growled, glaring at a bored looking Tsukune.
"Who doesn't?" The brunette shrugged nonchalantly. "Honestly you're not the first person to pick a fight with me and you certainly won't be the last." He sighed. "But it does make me question whether you've got all your marbles." He mused, before grappling the teen and delivering a strong lotus kick to the dude's lower jaw, sending him flying. "Cuz usually, people don't tend to survive fights with me." He added, dusting himself off.
"Still got it, eh?" Tamiko chuckled as he shook his head in amusement.
"Eh, I guess so." The brunette shrugged. "What's with him anyway?" He questioned, jabbing a thumb at the recovering teen.
"Saizo Komia, a school punk I'd say. He's probably triggered by the vibes of your talisman." His friend replied.
"Of course…" The talisman holder sighed. "So much for time alone later…" He lamented.
"You really crave that, don't you?" Moka noted, spotting her friend's desire for solitude.
"It's difficult to get some alone time for some reason." Tsukune nodded in reply.
It was then that Saizo got up again and lunged at the boy, which Tsukune managed to dodge by ducking, before following behind as the two started tumbling down towards the woods just past campus.
"Uh oh…" Moka gulped. "Should we…?" She asked.
"Get miss Nekonome? Yeah." Tamiko nodded as they bolted.
(Elsewhere)
The two boys skid to a halt as the taller of them flicked his tongue in aggression.
"You're really pissing me off, kid." The punk snarled. "Now how about you tell me how you managed to get your hands on a finger of the Monster Emperor?!" He snapped.
"It was left to me by my late grandfather, dipshit!" Tsukune grunted as he popped his neck. "And what the hell's the deal with the Monster Emperor?" He demanded.
Growing up as a human denied him access to such information.
"You seriously don't know the legend?" Saizo questioned. "There are nineteen other talismans like that one you got—nineteen more fingers. Each one of the original Monster Emperor: Akurama Jashin." He explained. "And legend has it that the person who can find, consume and control the power inside the fingers—is worthy of becoming the next Monster Emperor." He added.
"All of 'em, huh?" Tsukune mused, pulling out his talisman and looking at it. "Hm…" He hummed, contemplating whether to eat the finger or not.
"Don't get any ideas, cuz I'm gonna eat that thing before you do!" The punk snarled as he transformed into a bulky clawed monster. "As you can probably tell by my true form—I'm an Orc!" He yelled, striking Tsukune so hard he was sent flying into the cliff face.
"Oof!" He grunted from the impact, looking at the finger and coming to a decision. "Bottom's up!" He exclaimed before removing the finger and eating it, trying to ignore the taste.
"NO!" Saizo yelled in shock as his chance was lost.
Enraged, the orc rushed at the brunette as the boy stood slumped over against the cliff side, but before his fist could connect to his target—Tsukune suddenly retaliated with an uppercut swipe as black markings appeared on his hands and claws on his fingers—the force of some invisible energy sending Saizo flying.
"Weak, unimportant whelp." Tsukune spoke, although it was blatantly clear that it was someone else at the wheel.
"Eh? Wh-What the?" The orc groaned as he tried to get back up, only for Tsukune to leap on top of him and stop him in the face, knocking him out—right as Moka and Tamiko arrived with Nekonome.
"What the hell happened here?!" Tamiko gasped as he looked at the aftermath.
Tsukune, meanwhile, was looking at his hand before he started chuckling, which soon turned into a fit of full blown hysterical and maniacal laughter.
A smaller, second pair of eyes opened under his own, while various black tattoos started covering his entire body as he laughed, eyes wide and mouth smiling like a madman.
"I KNEW IT!" The same voice from before exclaimed. "The moonlight feels best in the flesh!" He cackled as he started rippling apart his uniform, revealing more markings all over his body. "Normal flesh is so boring! Now, where are the people? The women?" He monologues as he leapt from Saizo's chest to the cliff above. "Oh, what a glorious era to be reborn! The women and children are all crawling about everywhere like maggots!" He exclaimed, seeing the academy. "How marvelous! It'll be a massacre!" He cackled insanely.
"What… The hell?" Tamiko gasped as he, Moka and Nekonome watched this scene.
"I don't think that's Tsukune…" Moka gulped nervously.
"That's because it's not." A voice from inside her rosary said, getting her and Tamiko's attention.
"Did your rosary just talk?" The cat boy blinked.
"Yes I did, and that's not your friend talking." The voice responded. "That's the voice of the Monster Emperor himself! Akurama Jashin has been reborn in your friend's body!" She exclaimed.
"That's terrible!" Shizuka exclaimed. "How could this have happened?" She asked.
"I think I know." Tamiko spoke up, getting their attention. "Tsukune had one of the Monster Emperor's fingers left to him as something of a gift from his late grandfather. He must've eaten it when Saizo was attacking him." He explained.
"What?! Is he insane? That's extremely dangerous!" Their teacher gasped.
"You're not the first person to call him insane." The cat boy replied as the newly reborn Akurama Jashin noticed the group and hopped down to face them.
"Well well well, what do we have here?" He mused, stroking his chin, rising as his voice changed again.
"Alright pal, knock it off." Tsukune said, seemingly taking back control.
"The hell do you think you're doing?" Jashin questioned.
"Getting back in the driver's seat, it's my body after all." Tsukune retorted.
"You think I care?! It's mine now, little runt!" Jashin cackled.
"Kiss my ass, old man! You're a passenger no matter what, so give my body back now!" The boy snapped, exerting an increased amount of will in an effort to get the Monster Emperor under control for now.
"What…? He's suppressing… Me?" Jashin questioned as Tsukune regained control.
"Ah, that's better." He sighed.
A beat passed before anything else was said.
"You there, Asura boy." The voice in the rosary said. "Think you can swap with Akurama well enough to give me ten seconds with him?" She questioned.
"It was only one finger I ate, so I should have a good hold on him." Tsukune nodded in reply. "Who's asking?" He asked.
"I'm the true Moka, I'm speaking to you from my outer half's subconscious through this rosary." The voice replied. "We're two halves of the same being. If you remove the rosary, you will release me." She explained.
"I'm not sure I should allow this…" Shizuka gulped nervously.
"Think of it as a way to gauge how we can keep the old dude in check." Tamiko pointed out. "If an S-Class like Moka can keep him in line, then chances are we'll be good." He added.
"... Alright…" The woman sighed, hoping this wouldn't go south.
Tsukune walked up to Moka and looked at her. "I'll make it up to you." He told her, causing her to smile as he grabbed and removed her rosary, allowing her inner self to come out.
Her hair became a silver color, eyes dark red, skin pale, and her assets grew to become plumper and more voluptuous—particularly in the form of her ass getting bigger and her breasts going from a C-Cup to a D-Cup.
The vampire yawned, flashing her fangs as she stretched.
"Well?" She questioned, hopping in place. "Go ahead." She told him.
"On it." Tsukune nodded. 'Yo, old man. You got someone who wants to fight you. Up for it?' He asked his new guest.
"Just shut up and switch already." Jashin snarled as he appeared again, and saw a vampire standing in front of him. "A Vampire huh?" He hummed as he stroked his chin. "Ya know, I actually fought the first Vampire once. Nearly ended in a draw. Makes me wonder how you'll stack up to him." He mused.
"Let's put that to the test, shall we?" The silver eyed girl smirked as she popped her neck. "Because it's time for you to know your place." She added as she went to deliver an axe kick to the emperor's cranium—only for it to be blocked.
"Did you really think that you'd be able to take me out in one kick?" Jashin chuckled, his four eyes focusing on the girl. "That's adorable. I can see why this brat's got the hots for you." He added, causing the vampire to blush.
"Shut up and fight, you old fool!" She retorted, leaping back and charging in for another kick.
This caused another shockwave that Jashin felt this time, blocking the kick but being sent skidding backwards from the force of it—proving that it would have caused damage had it connected.
"Okay… Definitely not weak." The Monster Emperor mused.
"I'm waiting for you to attack. Come at me, old man." The silver haired vampire taunted, hopping in place a bit.
"You asked for it!" Jashin exclaimed as he leapt skyward, coming down for a devastating haymaker…
Only for him to end up on all fours and Moka sitting on top of him, her legs crossed as she flipped her hair nonchalantly.
"Are you done?" She asked casually.
"Shut up!" The diminished Asura yelled as he spun around to slash at her, only for her to dodge with the grace of a ballerina while he attacked like a wild animal.
This continued for a few rolling exchanges before Akurama was sent flying back with a kick to the chest, causing him to skid.
'Is she unbelievably fast? No, that's not it.' He thought in mid air, right before Moka appeared above him and drop kicked him into the ground below—creating a crater. "For crying out loud. You teenagers are always such a pain in the ass—in any era!" He roared as he tried another haymaker—which was dodged again. "Though time doesn't have much meaning for me." He shrugged.
"Of course it doesn't." Inner Moka snarked. "But I think it's time this fight ended." She added.
"Now you're talkin'! LET'S GO!" Akurama roared with a wild grin.
"Know your place!" The girl yelled as she delivered a hard kick to the face of the king's vessel, sending him flying and crashing into the cliff side—allowing Tsukune to take over again.
"And this fight took a whopping sixty two seconds, wheee!" The same bat from before exclaimed.
'Damn it. Why can't I manage to take over this body?' He snarled. 'Just who is this Aono punk anyway…?' He questioned as he faded away and Tsukune took back control.
"... Ow…" He groaned in pain, causing the silver haired vampire to remember who the main mind was.
"Whoops…" She uttered with a sweatdrop as she helped him up. "Sorry about that. I guess I went a little overboard." She apologized.
"But at least we know you can control Jashin." Tamiko noted as he and Shizuka came out of hiding.
"He's kind of annoying, to tell the truth." Tsukune sighed, smacking his head. "And I keep hearing his voice." He added.
"Let me guess: He's ranting like a madman?" Tamiko asked flatly.
"Nah. Just an asshole." The brunette sighed. As he said this though, Moka suddenly sniffed his neck. "Uh, Moka…?" The boy uttered.
"Hold still." The vampire said as she sank her fangs into his neck and pulled away seconds later, causing a mark in the shape of a bat-like cross to form on his neck. "There." She nodded.
"What was that all about?" Tsukune questioned as he rubbed where she bit him.
"I just marked you with my monster energy." She told him, grabbing his collar. "Now you belong to me and my outer self." She told him as she kissed him while retrieving her rosary and putting it back on.
When the pinkette was back, she collapsed into Tsukune's arms. There was a moment of silence before Tamiko spoke.
"Well done, Tsukune. Well done." He nodded with a grin.
"That was certainly unexpected." Shizuka blinked.
"Yeah…" Tsukune nodded nervously. "Listen, you're not gonna tell anyone about this, are you miss Nekonome?" He questioned.
"Other than the headmaster? No." The woman replied. "The headmaster does need to know about all this, though. It helps make life easier in a lot of cases." She added.
"Okay… They won't try to execute me, will they?" He questioned. "Because the fact that Jashin was dead and his fingers were severed and scattered isn't exactly very concerting." He stated.
"Seeing as you can keep Jashin under control, you'll be monitored at best." Shizukua told him in reply.
"Oh." The brunette sighed. "Well, I guess that's better than the alternative." He shrugged.
"But I guess now we know why you're an Asura." Tamiko pointed out. "Jashin was molding you into a proper vessel from day one." He noted.
"It's certainly paid off." The Asura boy shrugged. "Now if you'll excuse me, I should probably get Moka to her room." He added before he turned and walked off.
As he did, Tamiko then turned to his teacher.
"So, miss Nekonome…" He smiled as two cat ears and a tail popped out of his uniform and head. "You're a bakeneko too, huh? Don't suppose I could take this opportunity to get to know you better?" He asked with a saucy purr.
"Oh my…" Shizuka gasped, her own cat features popping out. "It does feel nice to not be the only feline around. I'd love to get more acquainted with you." She smiled, grabbing his hand in her own.
"Sounds good to me." The blonde purred as he slipped an arm around her waist.
Dragon Emperor0: Well, even if this story as a concept was really just the result of some brainstorming between the two of us back and forth for a few days and me personally just now getting into Jujutsu Kaisen—I'm still quite pleased with how this rewrite of Ghoul + Vampire turned out.
ThermalsniperN7: Yeah, this feels better than the original. And more enjoyable, to boot. So yeah, Tsukune is one of those guys that just wants his alone time but can't get much of it here.
Dragon Emperor0: Thermal here is drawing from personal experience, so he knows what he's talking about. And much like Yuji Itadori in Jujitsu Kaisen, Tsukune here is set to be a vessel of the strongest monster in the Monster World—Akurama Jashin (Literally Translated: Malevolent Pillar of the Evil God) who's own history will be revealed later as Tsukune works to become the next Monster Emperor while also resisting Jashin's influence.
ThermalsniperN7: A feat that may very well become difficult as time goes on and Jashin grows stronger. There could even be a risk of the guy actually taking over Tsukune's body at some point. That's what happens as a powerhouse being gets stronger.
Dragon Emperor0: Getting Sukuna vibes already from this situation—this story's gonna end in bloodshed and destruction, I just know it. Anyway, guys. See you all in the next chapter.
