My eyes opened, I stared at the ceiling. I sat up, I was in Zeus Cabin. The Zeus Cabin isn't really the most comfortable place. The Cabin from the inside is just a white marble box. There's not really much to it. But since I'm the only child of Zeus at camp I get to make my own modifications. A mirror, a dresser…and that's pretty much it.

Can't have any posters or anything like that hanging on the walls. I guess that's because Zeus is the king of gods and he doesn't want any "vandalism" in the cabin.

So anyways I guess I should introduce myself or whatever.

My name is Alaster Grace. I'm twelve years old. And I'm the only child of Zeus at Camp Half-Blood. I'm a demigod.

Some of you might not know what that means. I'm half mortal, half god. My mother was a human, and my father is a god. Camp Half-Blood is a place where demigods can train and live. It's the only safe place in the world for us. That's because demigods have a scent that attracts monsters to us. Especially children of the Big Three. I am the only living one.

The Big Three are the three most powerful gods. Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades. It's very rare these days that a child is born of one of the Big Three. The Big Three for the most part stopped having children after their children were causing…problems, as I'll say. The children were getting too powerful so they stopped having kids all together…at least until my sister and I came along.

Before I came to camp I lived with my sister, mother, and brother. Before I got to camp I'd only seen Dad once, and that was when he came to see me. This new guy came around though and after that my little brother, Jason, was born and even after Jason was born I never saw that guy again.

I didn't have the best relationship with my mother. It was just me, Jason, and our sister Thalia. Thalia was our prominent caretaker for a while, Mom wasn't really the most qualified parent. Then after Jason…disappeared, Thalia took me and we both ran away, and we didn't look back.

Then Thalia and I met Luke. Luke was a cool guy, the only brother figure I had for a long while. Then that's when we realized that we were…special. We were demigods. Luke is a son of the god Hermes. It was Thalia, Luke, and I for a while fighting off monsters. I always suspected something was going on with Thalia and Luke but I never guessed what.

Then we met Annabeth. She had run away from home. She is a demigod too. Daughter of Athena. After a while we were found by a satyr named Grover Underwood who tried to help us get to Camp Half-Blood. The five of us traveled together, but we were being chased by monsters that were from the Underworld. The God of the Underworld, Hades, had discovered Thalia and I's existence, and he sent monsters to kill us. We faced some Cyclopes, we were held over a pot for a bit but Annabeth saved us.

Then we met the hunters…don't think I wanna explain what happened there, let's just say that it didn't really end well for me.

Then when we were almost there, almost at camp, a hoard of monsters attacked us. Thalia sacrificed herself on top of a hill to protect us. She died right there, in front of me. Dad took pity on her and in order to prevent her soul from going to Hades, he turned into a pine tree on that hill. That's why the hill ever since that day has been called Half-Blood Hill.

Ever since then I haven't been talking to Annabeth and Luke that much. Talking to them reminds me of those times back when it was just us and Thalia. Just makes it too painful.

I reached down and grabbed my bag. I took out my clothes and started putting them on. I wore a black leather jacket over an orange t-shirt that says "Camp Half-Blood" on it, black pants, black boots, and a black spiked bracelet on each wrist. Thalia used to wear similar clothing, I wear it to honor her. I walked to my dresser and looked in the mirror that was above my dresser. I took a black earring from the dresser and put it in my left ear, I took a bronze ring also from the dresser and put it on one of my fingers, and grabbed a chapstick and stuck it in my pocket.

I took a look in the mirror. I had close cropped black hair, my eyes were a sky green color (like how the sky would turn green before a tornado), and freckles across my nose and on my cheeks. I took in a deep breath before I walked toward the two polished bronze doors that had lightning bolts streaked down them.

I left the cabin and took in the view. I began walking around camp, and saw most of the campers training. But there were outliers. Connor and Travis Stoll were trying to break into the camp store, not very surprising for children of Hermes, especially those two.

I think I'll go to the Sword Fighting Arena today.

I walked to the Sword Fighting Arena, and there she was. Clarisse La Rue. Clarisse is a daughter of Ares, the Greek God of War. And she's awful. And she was standing right there with her brothers and sisters.

"Well would you look who it is," She said as she slowly walked over to me. "Alaster Grace. Are you here to get your butt kicked? I mean, why else would you be here?"

"That must've taken you a long time to think up, Clarisse," I responded. "I'm actually here to train. You know, so I can keep being better than you."

"You talk a big game, Lightning Mouth," Clarisse snarled. "But you keep running away from a fight with me."

"As if I'd ever run from you, Clarisse,"

"Then prove it to me. Prove it that you can back up all your talk. Fight me, spear to spear," Clarisse proposed, holding up her spear. "Unless you're scared."

"I'm not scared of you or your weak spear, Clarisse. Your spear wouldn't be able to phase me anyway. I can't be electrocuted," I told her. "Anywho, I'll take you up on your challenge. Lead the way you human boar."

"You'll regret saying that soon, runt," Clarisse glared.

We found a space Clarisse got into a stance with her spear. "Remember, runt, spear only."

"Of course, you're too scared to fight me with any of my other weapons," I took out a chapstick from my pocket and took off the cap. A spear with a tip made out of celestial bronze (it's a material that's deadly to monsters) expanded from it and just in a second I was holding a spear in my hand. I got in a stance as well.

"You're gonna be a stain on the ground when I'm done with you."

"I'd like to see you try, pig."

I'm not scared of Clarisse, but I won't deny that she's a very formidable opponent. I'd never tell her that to her face though. She's tall and muscular, around five feet, maybe a few inches more. She has pale brown hair and dark eyes. Right now she's wearing one of those leather sleeveless vests over the camp half-blood shirt, and some camo shorts.

Clarisse attacked first, thrusting her spear at me. I blocked each one and slashed at her, she dodged. We circled around each other. We took turns thrusting and blocking.

I slashed at her neck, she stepped back, as I went to thrust she blocked and maneuvered around my spear, kicking my rib. I stumbled back, Clarisse packs a punch, but I wasn't gonna let her beat me.

"Not bad. Not good. But not bad," I smirked.

"Yeah right. I'm gonna squish into goo,"

We went back to fighting. I dodged a slash to the head and blocked a thrust to the chest. After blocking a few more attacks I landed a spinning kick right to her face. She grunted and stumbled. I took the opportunity to advance, I delivered a kick to her chest. She almost fell, but she caught herself.

"That was the weakest kick I've ever felt," Clarisse smirked in cockiness.

"Are you sure? I mean I almost knocked you onto the ground. That seems to count for something," I responded, her face fell into a deadly stare. If looks could kill, I'd probably be dead right now.

Clarisse charged at me and we continued our fight, I knocked Clarisse's spear downward when she thrusted it at me. I followed up with a slash to her cheek. Clarisse growled and attacked, I dodged to the side and slashed the back of her knee. She took a knee.

"Are you regretting fighting me now? I mean I'm just getting started, and I've already got you on the ground. Some daughter of the War god you are," I taunted.

Clarisse got back up with a battle cry and attacked. She attacked with rejuvenated and powerful strikes, even more powerful than previously. She knocked my spear down and kicked me in the chest, then swept my feet. I fell down back-first on the ground. I rolled out of the way right before Clarisse's spear buried itself in the ground where my face was.

She wasted no time and as soon as I was on my two feet again she attacked. I dodge, ducked, and blocked her very quick attacks. I ducked under a slash from Clarisse and kicked her in the face, which I followed up with another spinning kick across the face.

I went to slash down on her, she blocked with her own spear.

Suddenly I was pulled out from the fight, somebody yanked me away. I broke off and turned, pointing my spear at them. It was her. Annabeth.

"What do you want? I'm busy," I said, motioning over to Clarisse.

"I want to talk to you," Annabeth said.

"What in Hades is going on here? We're in the middle of a fight, Wise Girl," Clarisse stomped over to us.

"Well I have to talk with Alaster. It's a lot more important a fight between you two," Annabeth responded.

Clarisse growled at her, then turned her attention to me. "We'll settle this during Capture the Flag."

Clarisse walked away, some of her siblings following her. I put the cap on my spear tip and it turned back to chapstick.

"So what is it?" I asked.

"Walk with me," Annabeth said.

We walked.

"I want you to join my team for Capture the Flag," She told me.

"That's seriously what you stopped my fight for? You could've just asked me that when I was done with her," I told her.

"That's not all. I just wanted to ask you that first,"

There was a bit of silence. Since we got to camp Annabeth and I haven't really talked that much, we're more like acquaintances rather than friends. We interact once in a while, but we're not all buddy buddy.

Annabeth is a daughter of Athena. Like a lot of her siblings she has honey blonde hair and grey eyes that are the same color of storm clouds. She has a deep tan too.

"Sure, I don't think I really have a choice. Clarisse isn't gonna let me join her team. So what else do you have to tell me?" I asked her as we continued to walk. I mean judging from what Clarisse said it looks like she's not gonna want me on her team. Plus Ares Cabin is going to be one of the lead teams in Capture the Flag this time.

"Grover's back,"

My head quickly snapped to her. "He's back? When?"

Like I've said before, Grover is the satyr who tried to bring Thalia, Luke, Annabeth, and I to Camp Half-Blood five years ago. Like Annabeth and Luke I've tried to stay away from Grover, I don't want to fault him for what happened…but I just don't think I can face him right now. I don't think I'm ready.

"Not too long ago, he brought another demigod with him," Annabeth told me.

"Another Demigod? Any idea who their parents might be?" I asked.

"There's a chance that he's the one. The one in the prophecy," Annabeth said.

I mentally rolled my eyes. "Annabeth, every single time a new demigod you say that they might be the one. Then they never end up being the one in the prophecy. You get your hopes up too much. The Prophecy is…most likely about me."

When Annabeth and I were ten years old, we overheard the Great Prophecy. I've been thinking and training for it. I've always thought it was about me. I could never forget it:

A half-blood of the eldest gods

Shall reach sixteen against all odds

And see the world in endless sleep

The hero's soul, cursed blade shall reap

A single choice shall end his days

Olympus to preserve or raze

It's always made sense that I was the one being talked about. I'm the son of Zeus, king of the Greek Gods, the only child of the Big Three at camp. I've been training toward this moment, it's always been on my mind. I've always trained as hard as I did in preparation for the moment I turn sixteen. I did the same thing everyday: wake up, train, eat dinner, train some more, and go to sleep. It was a cycle.

"This kid is probably another child of Apollo or Hermes. You know how rare it is these days for the gods to have kids," I told her. "Plus even if there's another Big Three kid at camp, I don't think he and I would get along very well. Son of Hades, his father is responsible for killing my sister. And you already know the bad blood between Zeus and Poseidon."

"I guess so, but this is about the fate of Olympus. Not you getting a new rival or making an enemy," Annabeth reprimanded.

"Fine. Whatever, just tell me when the kid is at camp," I walked away.

For the next couple days I didn't really do much. But the demigod that Annabeth was talking about was on my mind. I was just thinking, another demigod child of the Big Three. I mean, in a way it would be a bit relieving if I'm not the one in the prophecy. I mean, deciding the fate of Olympus is, believe it or not, a very stressful thing.

But maybe it's still just wishful thinking I guess. There's a chance. But I've been working toward this, it's been my goal to make myself ready for that moment for the last five years. So I can be worthy of being called a Child of Zeus. I've only been on one quest since I got to camp.

Charles Beckendorf, Silena Beauregard and I went on a quest two years ago for Hephaestus, the God of Fire and Forge. For completing the quest he made me a replica of the shield that my father and Athena use, it's called Aegis. Aegis is meant to strike fear into monsters whenever you hold it up at them.

I only regularly speak to Beckendorf and Silena ever since our quest. Everybody in camp knows that Beckendorf and Silena have a thing for each other, it's only a matter of time until those two tell each other. Beckendorf is a son of Hephaestus and Silena is a daughter of Aphrodite.

I was walking around Camp Half-Blood, looking for something to do. I felt a hand on my shoulder and instinctively I turned and prepared for a fight. It was Annabeth, and behind her was a boy, I've never seen him before. Could he be the new demigod? He looked a bit weirded out that I just did what I did.

"Annabeth. New Guy?" I said.

"Yeah. Alaster Grace. This is Percy Jackson. Percy Jackson. This is Alaster Grace, son of Zeus," She said.

"Son of Zeus?" He asked.

"You got a problem with that new guy?"

"No. Are all children of Zeus on edge?" Percy asked Annabeth.

I didn't know what it was about this guy. But I didn't like him…
