Hey all!

Back with a new story. In this story Hinata will be on team seven instead of Sakura. I've seen stories like this, so I wanted to add a dark twist. Just like many of my stories because Hinata has a dark personality in the beginning. I wanted her to have a dark personality on a team with Naruto along with a dark secret. *Warning: There will be substance abuse in this story.*

It is a heavily Hyuga-centric story. If you want a lot of background on Sasuke and Naruto. Probably not the story you're looking for. It is NaruHinaSasu. I enjoy writing them together sometimes.

Rated M not until way later. I'm not labeling this slow burn, but M romance isn't until later. Since they are all on a team together, it will take time to set the connection between the three of them. Especially Sasuke and Hinata.

I've finished the story already. So, I should do a new chapter every week or twice a week. Depends on my mood. I think I covered everything. I hope you enjoy the new story!

Honestly, Hinata was just happy Naruto passed the exams.

Naruto passed. She passed. Hinata didn't know how she passed, but she did. Now her and Naruto were going to be assigned to their teams. They were officially done with the academy. Hinata was happy, now she could get out more. Now she could be somewhat free and away from the village.

Hinata expected to be on a team that needed the Byakugan heavily. Maybe a tracking team cell. She would fit well with the two boys in her academy class, Kiba and Shino.

If they were on a team she could be of some use. Not much, Hinata wasn't that useful, but she could help them a little if she was on their team. At least enough where they won't get sick of her. She could fade in the background too. She wouldn't have to be vocal on that team, she could do just enough and fade away from the world.

That's what Hinata was good at anyways. Fading away. Barely making it. Being a complete and utter failure. That's what she was good at.

Being assigned your team today meant it was going to be a tedious day for Hinata. She needed to escape after she was done for the day. She would make sure to escape a little tonight so she could feel a little useful tomorrow.

If she escaped tonight she could avoid her older cousin Neji from sending her death glares. She could avoid her father, and his constant look of annoyance when he looked at her. Her father wasn't yet there with his glares being 'death glares'.

She could even avoid Hanabi and her fake pity looks. The way her younger sister would look at her made Hinata sick. Hanabi would have so much pity for her, yet she wouldn't want Hinata to excel above her. She wanted Hinata to stay below her, so she could keep pitying her. Defending her.

Hinata didn't like to be someone that always needed saving.

It honestly annoyed her. No one would know that though because no one ever asked Hinata what annoyed her. Why? She was a nobody. A weak failure as her cousin Neji would love to rub in her face. A failure that couldn't even beat her younger sister in a match. She was utterly useless.

It was a little funny to Hinata when she thought about it. She was so useless, yet they wanted her to be a ninja and excel.

Why not just get it over with? Why not just take that caged bird seal off her far better cousin's forehead and put it on her instead. Demote her. Make her what they want to make her? Why not do it? Instead they push for her to be a ninja? To fend for herself when she could barely fight off her little sister.

Her family was such a joke sometimes.

Maybe they just wanted her to be a ninja in hopes that she would die in the field. Well, that would be a glorious dream for Hinata, if wasn't going to be on a tracking unit. She was sure she'd be paired with trackers, so her and her families dream sadly couldn't come true. Maybe if she ever got attached to a unit that's more combative, then she'd have a chance to get her skull smashed in.

"Uzumaki Naruto, Uchiha Sasuke and Hyuga Hinata. Team Seven."

Hinata blinked at hearing her name be called. Did she just hear right? She was going to be on team seven? She blinked again when she heard the names be called for the tracking team. Sakura? Why not her?

She wasn't going to be on team eight? The team that has Kiba and Shino? With the young female sensei that was always nice to her whenever they crossed paths. Wait, there has to be some type of mistake. No way they would be crazy enough to throw her in the lion's den of Naruto and the Uchiha.

Hinata liked Naruto. Like a lot. He would never remember what he's done for her and even if he did. Hinata was sure he didn't care. That being said, she liked Naruto, but to be on his team with the Uchiha was a horrible idea.

Uchiha Sasuke was a hot head. He had a very big ego and Hinata could tell from the little moments he did get her attention that he was a one-person army. He didn't want help. He wanted to do things his way. With all due respect, the kid in Hinata's eyes wasn't a prodigy.

Hinata has seen way more talented people aside from Sasuke. Her cousin Neji would easily demolish Sasuke. So could Neji's male teammate. Sasuke was not as talented as the girls here boast him to be.

Hinata understood. Sasuke had this permanent chip on his shoulder because of the Uchiha massacre. Maybe it was something people chose to ignore, but Hinata remembered hearing about the massacre. How Sasuke was now an orphan and how he always, and she couldn't stress enough the word ALWAYS, talked about avenging his family.

Sometimes Hinata would roll her eyes just thinking about him saying that. How would he do that? Just how? From what Hinata heard of Sasuke's older brother resume, and just looking at how far behind Sasuke was. There was no way he'd avenge his clan.

At the age Sasuke is now. Itachi was well on into his ninja career. Probably had more kills than the average Jonin now.

Hinata didn't understand how mentally Sasuke could lift himself up to be this person that saw himself ready to battle Uchiha Itachi. She needed Sasuke's self-esteem because it was out of this world.

Honestly Hinata didn't want to be on a team with Naruto either. Again she liked him a lot, but he was the same as Sasuke. Just not so rude and cold. Still, Naruto was a hot head. He challenged Sasuke every second he could get. It was tiring, and Hinata felt the third person that's paired with them would have to be someone that had the energy to separate them all the time. Or to cool one of them off.

That wasn't a job Hinata wanted. That's not a job anyone should be subjected to do. They were becoming ninja's now. Needing to learn teamwork and how to tolerate one another at this point should push you back in the academy.

That was just Hinata's opinion though. What did she know.

Now she would be on a team with them. She couldn't get her way out of this without her father knowing about it. It was all an inconvenience right now. Now Hinata was stressed. Silently fuming to herself and her new teammates had no clue how much she HATED this idea.

Not that they cared. Why would they want a weakling like her on their team?

Iruka instructed them to stay and wait for their new sensei. Hinata sat quietly. She watched a brief interaction between Naruto and Sasuke and how the two silently agreed to just not talk to one another. Hinata tried her best not to sigh in relief. She honestly just didn't want to hear them argue for however long it was going to take their sensei to get there. She'd rather sit in anxiety driven silence.

It was fine until Hinata realized they've been waiting for hours. Was this man insane? She couldn't be out this late right now. Her father knew her schedule inside and out. Right now this sensei better have a good reason why she'll arrive home late or her father would have her head.

Naruto looked around the classroom. Anywhere but towards Sasuke, when he finally laid eyes on Hinata. He noticed he never even said anything to her about being on a team together. He supposed that was rude. It was just, he was so annoyed with being on a team with freaking Sasuke. The Uchiha annoyed him so much, he couldn't focus on being nice to anyone right now.

Plus. Hinata was pretty weird.

Naruto did see that Hinata kept checking the clock on the wall. She must worry she was going to be late for family dinner or something. Tsk, must be nice.

Hinata was from this big named, fancy, generational clan. The Hyuga clan. Yet, Hinata wasn't like any of the Hyuga's he's seen around the village. Hinata wasn't pretty, calm, or smooth like those other Hyuga's. No, Hinata was a Class-A freak. Super weird girl. She was nice though, so he wouldn't be mean to her. He just wouldn't break his neck to understand her either.

She had a big house to comfort and understand her.

Naruto watched Hinata a little longer and noticed how she started to twist and pull at her fingers. She was picking at her calloused hands so much it was leaving little blood spots along her whole hand. What the hell was wrong with this girl? She'd be home in her comfy room soon enough.

Hinata wasn't a people person. Naruto could tell that much. Definitely in the wrong profession if you asked Naruto. Great, now he was on a team with two dōjutsu users that weren't people persons. This was going to suck ass.

Hinata could feel Naruto staring at her. He was trying to not make it obvious, but it was very obvious. Annoying as well and just made her anxiety worse. Why was he staring at her for so long.

He was probably judging her. Just like the Uchiha that stared at her shadow that was created from the setting sun that was coming through the large classroom windows.

They both thought the worse of her and didn't want her on their team.

Hinata's eyes snapped in the doorway where she finally saw a tall man that she assumed was their sensei. She jumped slightly when she saw that a chalkboard eraser fell on his head. It was just set up on the top of the door to fall on his head. Did he not see that?

Hinata's eyes snapped over to Sasuke. Her mouth hanging open slightly. The young Uchiha looked equally as shocked. Like he couldn't believe the prank worked either.

So, that must have meant while Hinata was zoned out in her own world, Naruto set up this prank.

Was he insane?! He'd prank their sensei on the first day! Just for being late? Who cared if he was late. He was their sensei, Hinata could care less if he was late every single freaking day. As long as it didn't bring awareness to her.

Why would Naruto do that? Now their sensei was going to be mad. Now he was going to punish them. Hinata didn't need hell in and outside of home.

Their sensei. He had hair that resembled the color of a silver fox mystical creature. Half his face was covered and he wore his jonin vest very relaxed. His whole aura looked relaxed, yet she could tell he was annoyed by the prank. Did he walk into this prank on purpose. "Sorry, I'm late."

Honestly he looked more over life than she was.

Hinata tuned out everything else he was saying. He was explaining why he was late and Hinata could tell he was lying. Her family had a niche for detecting when people lied. Even people as skilled as this jonin. Still she gave him a gentle smile and nodded her head in understanding.

This man didn't care if she knew he was lying. He was like the rest. He didn't care about her at all. Hopefully their first real mission together is a giant cluster fuck and she gets exploded or something.

Their new sensei instructed them to meet on the roof. He had the nerve to rush them. Warning them to not let him beat them up there. Hinata just felt so annoyed by this. Of course he was going to beat her up there. He did this just to get them to do something that still resulted in failure. Why did he want to see them fail so early?

This new sensei better not mess this up for her. He better not make her look like a bad ninja so early. Everything she does gets reported back to her family. She just couldn't afford to look bad this early.

Hinata made her attempt to reach the roof top as fast as she could. She ended up reaching the roof behind Naruto and Sasuke, but that was simply because they were in her way the whole time. Pushing and shoving, making it impossible for her to get around them without being as equally aggressive.

This was proving to be a pain. They were so competitive. For no reason this early on.

As she thought, their sensei beat them to the roof tops first. Clearly he knew ways that they didn't on how to get somewhere. This was just so typical, Hinata was just so over people that were better than her. Rubbing it in her face. Her not being able to do anything about it.

He wanted them to introduce themselves and this had to be the worst part of her day if Hinata was being honest. Under no circumstances did she want to talk. She could go her whole ninja career not saying one word to anyone.

"We can start by telling us your likes, dislikes, dreams for the future, hobbies and stuff like that."

Hinata could hear her heart thumping. It was that loud. Everything was getting very bright, and there was a ringing sound in her ears.

"My name is Naruto Uzumaki. I like cup of ramen! What I like even more is ramen from Ichiraku! What I dislike is waiting three minutes for the cup of ramen to cook. My dream…is to surpass the Hokage! And then…have all the people of this village acknowledge my existence!"

Hinata found herself silently taking gulps of air. Her eyes widening slightly. She didn't want to be next. She didn't want to talk at all. Why did she constantly have to do things she didn't want to do?

She heard Naruto's introduction though. He always had big dreams. She couldn't help but believe him every time he made a declaration of some sort. No matter how out there it sounded. She knew he'd reach them.

"My name is Sasuke Uchiha. There are tons of things I dislike but I don't really like anything. And I don't want to use the word 'dream' but, I have an ambition. The resurrection of my clan and to kill a certain man."

Kill a certain man? His brother? Why wouldn't he just say that it was pretty obvious. "What?"

Hinata said this as she was gripping her chest. She looked at Sasuke like what he said was the dumbest thing she ever heard. Sasuke growled at her in annoyance and before he could say something to further demolish her ego Kakashi stepped in. "Hey. Are you okay?"

"I-I-It…doesn't…" Matter.

Hinata passed out. Before she could answer him fully she passed out on the roof of the academy. All three active people awake looked stunned for a moment, Naruto was the first to respond, "WHAT THE HELL! We have to get her to the hospital!"

Kakashi watched as Naruto rushed over to Hinata's side. She was out cold to the world, but other than the light concussion she gave herself from hitting her head on the concrete, this young Hyuga was fine. "No. Leave her. She'll wake up soon."

Even Sasuke looked skeptical at the order. This was coming from a guy that fell for Naruto's prank. "What? She literally just passed out and hit her head on the ground. Shouldn't she get that checked out?"

Kakashi shrugged his shoulders as he further relaxed, "She did it to herself. Trust me when I say, she'll be happy we didn't bring her to the hospital." Naruto and Sasuke both looked confused at this. The hyper Uzumaki not buying it, "What? I'm sure her mom would want to know if her daughter has a concussion or something. She looked like she had a panic attack or something. Could be serious."

Sasuke eyed Naruto. Where did this vocabulary come from? Kakashi looked at the two boys and again shrugged his shoulders, "She doesn't have a mother. Her mother died. Hinata lives with her father and little sister. You were in the academy with her and never knew her mother died a few years ago?"

Naruto's heart dropped. What? She was a motherless child? Did she ever get offended with him calling Sasuke teme? Holy fuck. He never even knew! Everyone else in their class had a mom, he either saw their mom or heard them talk about their mother. Hinata never talked, so he never knew.

Kakashi chuckled at this, "Your team skills are horrible. You can't work as a team already. The academy is the place to make bonds, your team is where you strengthen your bonds. You're not even close to making one bond."

Sasuke looked upset at what Kakashi was saying, but snapped his mouth shut. It wasn't like he particularly cared about knowing this girl. She was weak in his eyes. Riddled with anxiety like Naruto pointed out earlier. She would be a burden to have on any mission. Just extra weight he would have to carry.

Naruto didn't like this narrative his new sensei was pushing out. "Wait a minute. You make it seem like I don't care. I care about Hinata. I understand she's my teammate. It can work out."

Kakashi looked at Naruto amused, "What is she? A charity case? By the look on her face when I first came in the classroom she was annoyed by the two of you. Tell me. Do you know anything about the Hyuga clan? Naruto?" Said person looked a little dumbfounded. Which told Kakashi everything he needed to know. "I thought so. You Sasuke? What do you know?"

Sasuke was equally as quiet. This was rich to Kakashi. "Please tell me you know she has a dōjutsu." Sasuke eyes widened slightly and now looked full on interested about the Hyuga girl. Well.

He didn't know that at all about her, "What? Okay, fine. Not that it makes a big difference, but I didn't know that."

Naruto looked 100% confused. "Wait. So she has eyes like teme, er I mean Sasuke." Kakashi stopped himself from rolling his eyes.

"Not all dōjutsu users have Uchiha eyes genius. She has a Byakugan. Which, by the way you do have to awaken. Also, by the way she has already awaken. While she did not do it as soon as some of her other family members, like her cousin, she still is well beyond her peers."

Naruto looked impressed. Really impressed. This was great. He was starting to feel like he should eat his words about Hinata. Granted she was still a bit weird and off, that was anxiety. They could work that out. "Oh man! Her dad must be proud!" Sasuke looked at Naruto and hated to admit it, but he was right. Her father had to be proud.

Kakashi became very silent and the two boys could feel a dark shift in his aura. Naruto made a loud gulp. Please don't tell him something was wrong with her father too. He just was saying all the wrong words. "What? What did I say wrong now?"

"You don't bring up Hinata's father until she decides to bring him up. Do you hear me? If anything I tell you today, you take this very seriously. Do. Not. Bring up her father. Understand?"

Sasuke and Naruto both looked like they wanted to rebuttal. That they didn't want to agree to this at all.

What was wrong with them asking about her father? Who was this girl?

It was like they were meeting a new person all over again. Could she have potential? Could she help them achieve any of their goals and ambitions? If she could, it was only fair they could ask her basic questions. Like who her father was.

However, that dark deadly look Kakashi gave them actually immobilized the two. Just now meeting this man and the relaxed behavior he portrayed. For him to flip like a switch and becoming menacing, they decided to agree.

Sasuke was the first to notice Hinata was moving. She was waking up now. Pretty fast from what appeared to be a massive panic attack. How did Kakashi know she'd wake up so soon? Does he know this girl?

"Nice of you to join us again Hinata. Mind not fainting before answering the introduction questions. It's pretty rude to have Naruto and Sasuke open up and you don't."

Hinata felt like everything was spinning. She was so dizzy and confused on what exactly was going on right now. Still from gathering what Kakashi had just said, she fainted. Wait? She fainted?

Hinata quickly sat up and looked around her surroundings. She was still outside. On the rooftop. She wasn't in the hospital. No one knew. They didn't know.

Her eyes met Sasuke's for a moment before skipping over to Naruto, who was looking at her with concern. He's never looked at her like that before. He's never stared at her for more than five seconds before. "I-I-I a-apo-apolog-"

"First. Stop talking. Just take a deep breath and talk when you're ready. We're not rushing you to speak."

Yes. That is true, but the sooner Hinata finished speaking the sooner she could get home so the punishment for being late would be lighter. "I'm s-sorry." Hinata used her shaky, dainty fingers to move her hair out her face. Sometimes having short hair was so annoying. "I like…the Hyuga values. I dislike…umm…I dislike weakness"

That was true. She did dislike herself after all. A great deal.

"I cannot think of my future plans right now. I apologize, and my hobbies are…training."

She hoped that covered all the questions and satisfied everyone so they could leave for the day. None of those traits described her at all, but Hinata was sure they didn't really care. If they could see under his mask. Kakashi was frowning at the bunch. "I'll tell you what I told the boys Lady Hinata."

Hinata wanted to crawl in a hole and die right there when she heard her sensei address her as such, "P-p-please. You do not have to-"

"Oh but I must. It is proper etiquette. You may get by because you're quiet and stay out of everyone's way, but right now, you're my student. So I have to know who is under my responsibilities at the moment. That being said, just know that there isn't too much you can hide for me. Now, like I was saying. Earlier I told the boys that the teamwork in this team is sickening. That includes your teamwork skills as well. You all aren't out of the woods yet. Just because you completed the academy doesn't mean I can't send you back. You'll complete a test with me, and if you fail, I'll be sending you back."

If Hinata could get any paler, she did in that exact moment. She watched on as Naruto and Sasuke adamantly began to rebuttal taking another test. Arguing how that wasn't fair. Sasuke clearly didn't have respect for the sensei that was assigned to them. He was just someone in his 'way'.

What did Hinata do exactly that was wrong? She wasn't the one to come and meet her team for the first time late. She wasn't the one to pull a prank on him. She wasn't the one to talk back and openly question her sensei like the Uchiha beside her. She wasn't Naruto or Sasuke. Why was she being dragged down with them?

Kakashi raised a brow at Hinata. She turned a ghostly pale color, but didn't say anything. Her face didn't show her frustration, because that would go against every Hyuga value created. "Do you think I'm being unfair? You are not opposing like your counterparts Lady Hinata."

Sasuke and Naruto became silent. The two looked at Hinata and their eyes were basically telling her to agree with them. This wasn't fair. This was straight horse shit.

They didn't have to watch what they said. She did. If Kakashi was to report that Hinata was being insubordinate or lacked in anything she would get in trouble. Hinata gripped her jacket that she wore. She needed something to grip and pull on. "W-W…What time? Do you. Want us to arrive t-tomorrow sensei?"

Hinata could tell Kakashi was smiling at her. Meanwhile Naruto and Sasuke didn't look happy with her answer at all.

They just didn't understand. She didn't expect them to, nor did she expect them to care. "Seven in the morning sharp. Skip breakfast as well. No need."

Hinata gave a short bow, showing she understood the orders. She turned around and wobbled a little as she went to leave the group. She just had to get away from everyone. She hoped they didn't think she was being too rude. "I understand…I w-will see you all…in the m-morning."

Sasuke watched Hinata wobble away. Like some weak fool. What the hell was her problem? Why was she acting like some freak? Any ounce of potential he thought she might have just faded away. "What is your problem? Hey! I'm talking to you!" Hinata ignored Sasuke as she continued to walk to the exit of the roof.

In her defense, she didn't hear him that clearly. All she could hear was the tongue lashing her father was going to give her for being late. She prayed he wasn't in the mood to 'test' her abilities.

Once Hinata was out of eyesight and had officially left. Naruto gave Sasuke a sharp look, "You know you didn't have to say it like that." Sasuke simply gave Naruto an annoyed look, "Shut up. Don't act like you weren't thinking what I said."

It was nine at night. Finally Hinata was done for the day.

Honestly between her new sensei, Kakashi. Her new teammates, Naruto and Sasuke. Her family, especially her father and cousin Neji. She was utterly exhausted. She hated having to creep in the house 24/7. She was thankful her father was in a meeting when she arrived home. Watching Hanabi and her cousin Neji sitting at the table eating dinner made her nerves rise back up, but she was able to not make any contact with either of them.

Hanabi attempted to greet Hinata, but Hinata was able to brush it off with a quick hello and dash. Hanabi wouldn't hold a conversation long with Hinata. She knew Hanabi didn't really want to be seen talking to a weakling like her.

When Hinata had finally gotten herself clean and walked out of the bathroom in her pajama's she saw her father as soon as she opened the bathroom door. Was he waiting for her that whole time? "Tomorrow. You will be having a sparring session with me. You have officially completed the academy. You need to become more serious and stop goofing around. Understood."

He was telling her. Her father wasn't asking anything. The only thing he wanted from her was a, "Yes Sir." Which is what she said to him.

Her father said nothing more to her as he went to his own private quarters. Maybe that's what the meeting was about. Her progression. How her uselessness was becoming a burden to the clan.

Hinata thought if she hid from everyone and minded her business, they would be satisfied. Yet, they were still angry with her. It was like she could do nothing right for anyone. Not her family, not her sensei, not her teammates. Why did the night have to end like this?!

Hinata walked in her bedroom. She had to escape. She had to escape now.

She went in her closet and rummaged a little before pulling out a box. She opened the box to pull out an unwrapped bottle. It had no label on it because she peeled it all off. Hinata opened the top and took a big whiff of the smell of alcohol.

Hinata threw her head back and took several big gulps. Her eyes were squeezed shut and she just focused on not throwing up. Head shots like this always made her head spin.

In a good way. It wasn't long after a few more giant chugs that Hinata started to feel relaxed. She was able to breathe correctly again. Hinata leaned against her bed as she sat on the floor and thought about the day.

Everyone was such a pain. This whole thing was a pain. She had to take shit from two boys that had bricks as heads. They didn't listen to anyone. There was no way she could ever get them to listen to her. Especially that Sasuke. Naruto would listen, only if she buttered up his ego. Or could show him something 'cool'.

Hinata's eyes lowered as she thought about Naruto and Sasuke. She became so upset she took another big gulp. Not only was being on a team with them proved to stress her out immensely, but now she had a sensei that would be watching her like a hawk. Sometimes on her days off from the academy she could drink all day and no one would come and bother her.

This is the first time in months her father bothered to speak to her and it was about sparring. Since she's found out about alcohol to drown out her problems, she didn't have to worry about sparring with her dad. Last thing she heard from him a few months ago, he said she would get herself killed as a ninja and that she wasn't his problem anymore.

So, why did he care now?

Hinata let out a sigh. She'd have to dial back on escaping now. Until she figured out this team and what exactly her father wanted from her.

When Hinata threw her head back to take another gulp she noticed she emptied the bottle afterwards. Her now hazy eyes looked at the bottle and frowned. Great. She giggled as she crawled back to her closet to look at the stash that she had. So far, out of her supply of twelve bottles, she had three left. That meant soon she'd have to head back out to the red-light district of town and get some more.

She closed her closet, crawled to her bed and pushed herself sloppily up until she was barely hanging on the bed. Hinata smiled to herself at how woozy she felt. This was nice. She felt so free. So happy. She loved this feeling.

She finally escaped for the day.

End of chapter!

So, Hinata has a lot of depressing dark thoughts. I like the way I'll have Kakashi in this story. So hopefully you all like his role as well.

Alcohol is the substance being abused. Many people fall victim to this easily accessible substance. Many abuse it. Especially at a young age because it is so easy to get. Hinata will be on a journey. Join the ride.

Until next time! My routine uploads will more than likely be every Wednesday and Saturday.
