Chapter One: A New Path

~A/N~ So here we go! The first chapter of the New and hopefully improved, probably not, Daughter of The Black Flight.

Chapter Start!

A young woman sat on the edge of the tall building. Her legs swung slightly over the side as she stared downward. It was a long way down. Well over thirty floors. It wouldn't take much. Just to lean forward a bit more. Then she'd finally be free of them. There was only one problem. She couldn't muster the strength to just let go. No matter how badly she just wanted to let go. She couldn't. She had too much to take care of.

"You know it's off-limits up here," A stern voice spoke.

"Who?" The young woman sighed. Someone must have seen her sitting on the roof edge and called it in. She turned to see who was walking up and it took everything in here to not fangirl. It was Eraserhead. One of her favorite heroes.

"What are you doing up here kid?" Shota asked.

"I thought I could get a little alone time to figure things out," The woman replied.

"What could you need to figure out that would require sitting on the side of a thirty-story building?" Shota asked.

"Oh, simple things. Like why everyone hates me just because of my quirk. Why my... little brother can't go to any schools because of who our parents are. You know little things like that," the girl growled.

"Unfortunately, having villain parents narrows so many minds," Shota says sitting down next to the girl.

"You don't know half of it," The young woman snapped.

"Don't I?" Shota replies giving the girl a knowing look.

"Do you?" She asks now giving the man his full attention.

"My father," Shota said looking at his hand. "He was a villain. He killed people just to hear them scream. He would flay his victims slowly so they would be alive for as long as possible. He called himself Ripper," {1}

"How did you become a hero then?" The young woman asked.

"Who said I was a hero?" He asked.

"Someone with a nine to five job isn't going to be dressed like that," She replied. "Also you're Eraserhead,"

"Oh," Shota replied bluntly. He wasn't used to being recognized. "But to answer your question. I applied to U.A. and their Dean took a chance on me,"

"You got lucky. Nobody would take that chance with me. Not when I'm their daughter," The woman replied.

"Who's?" Shota asked.

"I am the Daughter of the Black Flight," The girl says quietly.

"I see," Shota replies just as quietly. Deathwing, Sinestra, and their ilk were hands down the worst villain family America had ever dealt with. Deathwing had even fought on even ground with All Might on several occasions. Shota now understood why the girl thought the way she did.

"How old are you?" Shota asked.

"I'll be eighteen in July," The girl replied.

"You could apply to U.A.," Shota suggested.

"Beyond the fact, they'd never risk letting my lineage in I don't have the time to go back to school. I gotta get a job to take care of my little brother," The girl explained.

"U.A. uses a dorm system your little brother would be able to live with you there," Shota countered. He could see something in her eyes. He was starting to reach her. He just had to push a little more.

"You think they'd take a chance on me?" The girl laughed. "Unlike you, my entire family consists of villains. Deathwing, Sinestra, Nefarian, Emberstrike, Sartharion, and all the others that plague America. I just can't see them taking a chance on me,"

"You could make a trade. Give over the information you have in trade for a fair chance at enrollment," Shota returned.

"You're trying pretty hard. Who says I even want to be a hero?" the girl asked.

"I could see it in your eyes when you explained how you knew who I was. There was a fire in them. A desire to help. I've seen it before," Shota returned. The girl sat quietly for a few minutes after that. Shota knew this look well too. It was a look he had a long time ago. The look of 'Would they really' he had when U.A. gave him his chance.

"Would... Would they really?" The girl asked. Shota could hear the desperation in her voice.

"You'd have to go through an additional interview that anyone who has villains in their family has too. But I'd bet they would," Shota replied. "If they don't I'll have to rethink my employment there," He added.

"I... I guess I could," The girl said slowly.

"Good. Also, what is your name?" Shota asked.

"Oh, right I guess I never gave my name. Midoriya Izumi," Izumi answered.

"Aizawa Shota," Shota replied. "Stop by U.A. the first day you can so we can get the background check and Interview done," Shota added as he stood.

"Right I'll see what I can do," Izumi said rubbing the back of her head.

"Take care of yourself," Shota said before leaving.

~Midoriya Apartment~

"I'm home," Izumi said stepping into her apartment.

"You're home really early Momma," A young voice called out.

"They let me go," Izumi said walking into the living area. "How was your day kiddo?"

"Good, I finished my classes," the boy said.

"That's my smart little Daiki," Izumi smiled while ruffling Daiki's already messy green hair.

"Mom," Daiki giggled.

"Oh, what's this?" Izumi said looking over her son's shoulder.

"No," Daiki said still smiling.

"And exposed belly!" Izumi shouted and quickly started tickling her son. Izumi smiled softly as her son doubled over from her tickling. Moments like these gave her life. Reminded her of why she was trying so hard. She needed to protect and provide for the one thing she had.

~U.A.~

Nezu sat sipping tea as he almost always did. He'd just been given Aizawa's report on this Midoriya Izumi. A young woman who happened to be the daughter of Deathwing and Sinestra. Any information she would be able to give them would be invaluable.

"And you're positive she desires to be a hero?" Sekijiro asked.

"Yes. If I had any doubt I would not have brought it up to everyone," Shota returned.

"What about this little brother she mentioned. If she got in he'd be moved in too but our dorms don't have spare rooms," Nemuri stated.

"Oh, that would be simple. As neither Vlad nor Eraser uses their on-campus apartments we would allow her to use one of them as she has a second person living with her.

"It's pointless to really talk about it unless she set up the interview," Snipe said.

"I believe Aizawa-san is right. She'll be here," Nezu smiled.

~Monday~

Izumi couldn't believe she was actually going to do this. Her eyes slowly traced over the massive university that was U.A. "Sis?" Daiki's voice spoke quietly.

"Sorry I got lost in thought," Izumi replied. "We should go in. They are waiting for us,"

"Ok," Daiki replied letting Izumi lead him in. The two moved inside and quickly found themselves face to face with a handsome, well-dressed, white-haired man.

"You must be Midoirya," the man spoke very suavely.

"I am. And you are?" Izumi asked trying her best not to blush.

"Tobita Danjuro but you might know me as The Suave Hero: Gentle. I'm also Nezu's assistant,"

"I know of you. You normally have The Loving Hero: La Brava with you," Izumi returned.

"She's hard at work setting up a new security system for U.A." Danjuro replied. "I am here to bring you to the Interview hall,"

"Lead the way then," Izumi replied as she picked up Daiki.

~End Notes~ I hope you liked the new chapter and the changes I made. The Interview is going to be a bit of an exposition/lore dump so I'll put it into the next chapter.

Changes:

The first big change is Izumi doesn't have her hero merch. When I went back and started re-working the fic it didn't really make sense for her to have Hero merch when she has Villian parents. They'd never allow that stuff in their 'home'. That said she might start collecting merch now.

The second big change is Wrathion. Instead of her pet lizard, I changed it to son. Since in WoW Wrathion is technically a child of Deathwing. This way I didn't have to figure out how she manages to take care of a lizard.

The Third Big change is the Interview. Upon seeing the child of villains apply Nezu and the board of education felt it necessary to talk to her.

{1} I wanted to give him a pretty boring villain name as a joke to how Aizawa himself couldn't really think of his own and ended up using the first one Hizashi picked out.
