"Of all the nerve...!"

Jessie complained as she mopped the tile flooring back and forth.

"Those kids still don't trust us." Meowth grumbled, not even assisting, and instead, shining his charm.

"They wouldn't even let us into the reception..." James sighed sorrowfully, followed by the sound of his stomach grumbling. "Oh well... I managed to steal some leftovers from the table."

"And after all we've done for them," Jessie continued. "Those little brats wouldn't even have had the guts to confess to one another if it wasn't for a little prompting!"

Jessie noticed James not listening, just munching on the leftovers he threw hastily in a bag when he was left to clear away the tables.

"And throw that away!" Jessie stole the bag and tossed it some far distance. "We're not bums!"

"But Jess, I haven't had anything good to eat for days!" James cried.

"What do you mean? I cooked you pancakes for breakfast this morning."

Meowth made a suppressed "bleh" noise whilst James sighed deeply. "Not even a whole bottle of maple syrup could save that one..."

"They hardly even resembled pancakes." Meowth commented. "A bag of charcoal would've been more edidible."

Jessie huffed, but could not deny that she may have overdone the crispiness factor.

As annoying as it was, and the fact she could just throw the mop down and quit right then and there, she still diligently mopped - perhaps as a way to channel her frustration.

"HEY!" Meowth yelped. "Watch where you splashin' the water over there!"

"Can't believe those two..." Jessie grumbled. "And to think, that little twerp and the runt got married before I did!"

"Haha, who would want to marry you? GAAAH!" Meowth was met with a sopping wet broom to the face.

"I would..." James sighed, not realizing he had stated that out loud and not in his head.

Jessie stopped in place. "Huh?"

"Eeee!" James cringed in fear, realizing he had accidentally spilled.

"James... what are you saying?"

"I'm saying nothing!" he quickly turned around, crossing his arms.

"No, you're not. I heard you. You said very plainly 'I would'. You would what, James?"

"Yeah James, you'd what?" it then finally dawned on Meowth. "Don't tell me you've been smitten with Jessie all this time, have ya?"

James jumped up, smacking his hand over Meowth's mouth. "Keep quiet."

"You're acting really foolish right now... well... more foolish than usual." Jessie said. "Just come out and say it."

Sighing, James relented, slouching over in defeat. "Oh, fine, I guess now's the time I have to confess..."

He took both her hands and looked her in the eyes with an expression more serious than she's ever witnessed. "Jessie, for a long time, I saw you as someone very special to me. You can be really demeaning and cruel at times, but you would never leave me behind! And I won't ever leave you behind either. Jessie, I..."

And here James' eyes began to water, and his next words came out as a dramatic cry. "I love you, Jessie!" he then fell to his knees and buried his crying face in her hands. "Will you marry me?!"

"H-Huh?!" Jessie's eyes widened, blinking in shock. "James, you can't be serious. Me? Marry you?"

"And why not?" he looked up at her. "We've always been together, thick and thin, blasting off from every corner of the world. Since I'll probably be stuck with you anyway, why not make it official?"

Jessie gasped. "Then you really are serious."

"I've never been more serious in my life, Jess. We could even quit Team Rocket and live anyway we please. We could open a snack stall and make an honest living, you could finish school to become a Pokemon Nurse. No more exceeding Team Rocket funds and getting yelled at by the boss."

"Whoa, I never seen James so serious." Meowth said in awe, slapping his charm back on his head. "Just so you know, marrying her won't be getting rid of me."

"Of course not, Meowth, you're our friend." James reminded.

That really touched Meowth. "You... You really mean it?"

"So what do you say, Jess?" James looked at her with pleading eyes.

"James, I..." Jessie felt like she was out of breath. Honestly, she was too prideful to admit the attachment she had for James had long ago escalated into romantic feelings. But she couldn't deny them now. "Alright. I accept your proposal."

"You do?!" James said, shocked. He had expected to be rejected right then and there.

"We have been through a lot together, and..." Jessie inhaled a breath, her tone softening. "I think that plan of yours sounds nice. And I couldn't imagine having that life with anyone else."

"Oh, Jessie..." James sniffled, then pulled her in a tight embrace.

"Ugh, get a room." Meowth said in disgust.

Peaking through the exit doors to the hallway was Brock and Tracey.

"Everything go according to plan?" Brock asked.

"Looks like it." Tracey said, having sketched the entire scene. "Wait'll Ash and Misty hear this."

It turns out, to return the favor, Ash and Misty had relegated Team Rocket to cleaning staff in an attempt to get Jessie and James to confess to one another. It was a reckless plan, and one Misty had voiced sounded stupid and probably wouldn't work, but she was the most giddy when Brock and Tracey had reported that it did.

"I'm so glad those two can finally have a happy ending!" she said.

"Hard to believe we'd be cheering on Team Rocket after all these years..." Ash said.

"Pika." Pikachu said in agreement.

And thus, the adventures of Jessie, James, and Meowth as Team Rocket had ended. But an even better adventure awaited them in the future.
