I sleep alone for a night. I usually sleep with beatrice or Maria . Both of them are so quiet tonight. Mom told them to stay away from me because I need to have a good rest. However I can't fall into sleep

I am sure that Alan still love me but there is something that hold him back . I am not sure why but it must be serious enough to say that.

"Sister， can we please come in? We just have nightmare ." Someone is knocking on the door .

"Yeah come in please ." I get up .

The door is opened and beatrice and Maria come in. They lay beside me .

"We are sorry but we can't sleep anymore ." Maria hugs me ."We don't want you to go ."

"I am not going anywhere baby girl." I kiss their forehead

"We heard you talking to mom. You have to leave . We understand sister . You are always our sister okay?" Maria kisses my cheeks"we love you so much."

I am almost crying. I love them too. However I have to leave them alone .

"I am sorry . Maybe mom is right. I have to find out what was wrong with me . I believe that you guys can be strong for me and mommy right?" I kiss them on the cheek again.

"Yeah we can， I and Caleb are always the bigger brother and sister ." Beatrice claps me on my shoulder ."You don't need to worry about us ."

"I know that you guys are always great heroes." I giggled

We cuddle for a long time and fall asleep . When I wake up， it is the second morning. I have dreamed about Alan . I dreamed about when we first met in a party. When we hang out with each other and how he used to kiss me on my cheek.

He is so gentle and sweet. After he became the lieutenant for dauntless， he used to be more gentler . However the thing happened and we broke up.

"Sister it is time to eat and go to school." Caleb pinches my face

"Yeah I am coming ." I get up and dressed up immediately.

I follow him down stair . Ted is back . He is talking to dad

"Ted why are you back!" I am nervous

"I heard from ted that you broke up with Alan Davis. Is that true?" Ted narrows his eyes

"I and Alan Davis are friends . We never been together ." I wince

I hate ted for this . He always ruin the surprised

"Is that true?"

"Yes dad ， I never lie ." I grab a toast from the table ."I am going to school now ."

I rush out the door and slam it close . Why Ted told my dad that? I told him that we are secret .

"Celeste why are you angry !" Ted grabs my arm

"Why are you telling that thing to my dad . My mom already knew it. Are you the person who spread the rumour?" I point at him ， my face hot.

He stares at me a few minute . I never be this angry with him

"I love you Celeste . Alan isn't good for you." Ted grabs my shoulder

"I know that there is something wrong in dauntless so he has to let me go. He loves me . He told me that he still loves me ." I push him away."Without him， I will marry no one ."

"Why! Why can't you look at me. I love you this much." Ted hugs me tight in his arms ."I love you so much"

I struggle and run away from him. I run so fast that I pass the school bus station and didn't aware . when I arrive at school， it is on time . Today the school hasn't get so many people because we don't need to come if we aren't taking a test.

I get in school after a dauntless boy.

"Hey ， add you okay? Seem like you are hurt by someone." Dauntless boy turns around

"It's fine . Thanks for asking." I sigh."I am Celeste prior ."

"James tucker ." James tucker smiles at me ."Let's go."

Why he is so kind and warm. He isn't like those typical dauntless men.

"Thank you."

We walk into kitchen together . I sit down in the abnegation sector and James tucker sits with Zeke and Uriah. Zeke and Uriah wave at me .

"You know them?" Robert sneaks a look at me .

"Yeah we were in the same class." I shrug."Surprised!"

"I heard about you and Alan Davis ." Robert says ."You aren't supposed to be with the man from other faction."

I know the rumour gets too far . Dauntless must know about it too

"That was rumour Robert. You shouldn't believe in it. I and Alan just are friends." I say

"Okay， friends! That's all?" Robert raises his eyebrows

"Yes friends Robert. As abnegation， we shouldn't be this gossipy ."I roll my eyes

I look around . Dauntless are usually loud and playing card . Erudite are reading book in the constant pursuit of knowledge . Candor are debating but this must not be serious because some of them are smiling .

Amity sits in a circle and playing a hand clapping game . Only abnegation sits together in a quiet circle . I wander did all erudite loves to read and study ， is all Candor love a lively debate? However no one can ever defy the norms anymore than I can .

The teacher comes out from the corridor . There are ten rooms alongside the corridors but they are only used for the aptitude test . Teacher calls two names from dauntless， erudite ， Candor ， amity and then abnegation

"Robert black and Celeste prior ."

I stand up and follow Robert into the corridor . Zeke walks behind me . He squeezes my hand to encourage me .

"You can do this ." Zeke says in an extreme low voice

Most of the examiners are from abnegation but there are also one from dauntless and one from erudite for those of us who comes from abnegation. The test indicates that we can't be tested by someone from our own faction.

The rule also says that we can't prepare the test in anyway so I don't know what to expect. I stand in front room 5 and Zeke is room 6. The door opens and a dauntless woman stands over there .

The room isn't separate by solid wall but separated by glass . I look at myself in the mirror ， unable to look away.

"My name is tori . I am your examiner today." She says smoothly."Come and sits down . Please gets yourself comfortable."

I walk to the recline chair and sit down . She is busy cleaning the electrode . When she bents down， I can see a hawk tattoo peak out from her back

"Why the hawk?" I can't stop from asking.

"Never meet a curious abnegation girl before ." She shakes her head."In some ancient culture ， hawk represents the sun. I was afraid of dark once so I think that if I have a sun on me ， then I will not be afraid of dark."

"You were afraid of dark?" I say

Before this ， I thought that dauntless are all fearless . However I forget one thing that as long as humans themselves ， then they must be afraid of something.

"I was afraid of the dark." She hands me a cup of clear liquid ."Drink this ."

"What is it? What will happen to me ?" I am a little scared.

"I can't tell you that but trust me ." She sighs

I take a big sip and slowly that I feel dizzy.

"it will be very soon ." Tori tries to comfort me .

When I wake up, I am in the kitchen. Outside it is snowing but I don't think now that is winter

. That must be the test have been started . A table appears in front of me and there is a plate of knife and a plate of beefs .

"Choose one ."

I turn around to see who is it but no one appears behind me . I turn back and look at the plate.

"What will I do with them!" I ask

"Choose." She yells

I have heard the voice somewhere but I forget where and when

"Choose your own way then." After a few minute not responding, the plate disappeared .

The door squeaks opened behind me and I turn around slowly . I see a what but not a who. A big black dog is right in front of me . Its eyes red and gleam .

I finally understand why the knife will be handy or the beef . What do I know about the dog! In my biology text book, I learned that dog can prey secreted . The fear leads them to attack .

If looking into the eyes is a sign of aggression , then what is the sign of submission.'I slowly lower my body down on the ground . I move my eyes away from the dog an sigh a little .

I am still shivering but trying to calm myself down.

"Don't hurt me please ." I am begging

Then suddenly , everything goes quiet. I feel something is licking me . I lift my head and the dog is sitting in front of me and it is panting.

"So you are not such a vicious beast aren't you!" I am glad that I didn't pick up the knife .

Then a little girl appears behind the dog. Her arms stretch open.

"Little puppy." She squeezes

I want to warn her but that is too late . The dog turns and runs after her already. I start running too. I throw myself on the dog and everything disappeared around me .

When I wake , I am in the testing room . However I can't see my reflection in the mirror .

I open the door . However it isn't a corridor , it is a bus . All the seats are taken and I am standing beside a Candor man . Candor sees the truth as black and white so that is what they are wearing.

"Do you know this man." The Candor man looks at me

He has scar all on his face and I can see that he is scared . I look at the thing in his hand . I realize that is a newspaper
