Adira, Hector, Rapunzel, Eugene, and Varian went to her home in Old Corona. As soon as they arrived, the group entered Varian's laboratory where Quirin was trapped in amber.
Hector, Adira, and Eugene were petrified by what they were seeing. Rapunzel had put her hair around the amber and held a bucket of water that she gave to Varian.
"Once I start this incantation, I won't be able to stop it. And it could seriously harm you and your father, so I'm trusting you to snap me out of it once your father is free." Said Rapunzel.
"You can trust me, Rapunzel." Varian told her, smiling at her. Rapunzel smiled back. She took her hair and began to say the incantation. As she said it, her hair and her eyes turned black.
"Wither and decay,
End this destiny,
Break these earthly chains
And set the spirit free."
Varian turned and saw that the amber was melting. "*gasp* It's working."
"Wither and decay." Rapunzel continued with the incantation.
"It's working!" Varian exclaimed.
The amber continued to melt and Quirin was almost free.
"End this destiny." Rapunzel continued with the incantation.
Varian smiled. "Dad!" He started running towards his father, but stopped when he noticed that Rapunzel was continuing with the incantation. Adira, Hector and Eugene also suffered the effects of the incantation. "*cough* Varian. You have to snap her out of the incantation." Eugene told him.
"Break these earthly chains." Rapunzel was now out of control. Varian threw water from the bucket at her, but it was no use. "And set the spirit free." "Wake up!" Varian tried to touch her, but the moment he did, his gloves melted. "Rapunzel, snap out of it." Varian tried to wake her, but it was still no use. "The spirit free." Rapunzel was in full trance. "Rapunzel. Rapunzel? You didn't give up on me. I'm not giving up on you." After Varian said these words, Rapunzel snap out of the incantation and fell to her knees.
"Are you okay?" Varian asked her. The princess looked at him and gave him a look that meant 'yes'. Varian breathed a sigh of relief and hugged her. "Thank you." Varian broke away from her and ran towards her father who was now completely free and hugged her. "Dad! Dad! You're alive!" Quirin returned the hug. Varian broke the hug to smile happily at his father. Quirin smiled back. "Oh son." Suddenly, something caught Varian's attention. "Dad, the note!" Varian and Quirin turned to see that the note had dissolved into molten amber. Turning, Varian clung desperately to his father. "What- what did it say? I need to know." He asked, his eyes pleading for the truth. "All it said was I'm so proud of you, Varian. I always have been." Varian smiled at his father's words and the two hugged again. "I love you dad." "I love you too, son."
Quirin's look changed direction when he saw Hector and Adira approaching him. "Hello Quirin." Adira greeted him. "Long time no see, brother." Hector added. Quirin started to get confused. "Adira? Hector? What are you two doing here? What happened?" "Uh, dad… by the way, there's something I need to tell you and I don't think it's going to be a great conversation." Said Varian.

Everyone had gone into the living room to hear the story. Quirin was sitting on the sofa, shocked by everything Varian told him. He had kidnapped the queen, he had been in prison and he had conquered the kingdom. Once the story was over, Varian's eyes were full of tears.
"I'm sorry, Dad." He sobbed. "I'm so sorry. It's my fault. It's all my fault. I disappointed you. I disappointed everyone. I'm a terrible son. For everything I've done, I deserve to stay in-" Quirin prevented Varian from ending the sentence by hugging him. "Hey, hey. Sssh. Don't say that. It's all right, Varian. This isn't your fault, but it's mine."
Varian broke away from the embrace and looked at his father in shock. "What do you mean?" "Everything that happened was my fault, Varian. I should have trusted you. And if I had told you the truth, this wouldn't have happened. It's just that... I was so scared. Those rocks took a lot away from me and I couldn't risk losing you too. But know that I love you. Whatever happens." Said Quirin. Varian smiled at his words and they embraced.
"Maybe now those rocks have given you something back."
Quirin pulled away from Varian and Eugene was in front of him. "What do you mean?" Quirin asked as he stood up from the couch.
"Well, you haven't changed at all. You remained the same. And the choice of house was obvious. Near to the forest. Where Flynn Rider and the Earl of Camembert played." Eugene said.
Quirin didn't seem to understand at first, but eventually he seemed to understand. "No. It can't be." The man gently stroked Eugene on his face. "Horace?" Eugene was about to cry with joy. "Uncle Quirin!" He jumped into the man's arms and they embraced.
"Uncle Quirin?" Varian was wide-eyed at what Eugene had just called his father.
Eugene was crying with joy. "I missed you." "It's okay. It's okay, now. I am here." Quirin pulled away from the hug and looked at Eugene. "Look at you. The little Prince. All grown up. You have the same sparkle in your eyes as your mother." Eugene smiled even more. "I'm sorry I lost you. If I think you've been alone all this time." "It's okay, uncle. I wasn't alone. Rapunzel found me." Eugene pointed to his girlfriend. Rapunzel approached Quirin. "It's a pleasure to meet you, sir." Rapunzel held out her hand to him. "Put that hand away, young lady." Rapunzel put her hand away. "Oh, okay." "Come closer." Quirin told her. She approached. "Closer." He told her. She moved closer. "Closer." Rapunzel was now extremely close to the man. "Not only did you bring back my son, but also my nephew. Let me hug you." Quirin opened his arms. Rapunzel didn't know what to do at that moment and so Quirin took her and hugged her tightly. Adira and Hector shed a few emotional tears. Then all of a sudden, there was a scream from Varian.
Everyone turned to him. "Varian, what is it?" Quirin asked worriedly as he still hugged Rapunzel. "I just had a realization. If Hector and Adira are your siblings and Eugene is your nephew, that means he and I are…" "Cousins." Eugene said. "I know this isn't the best…" "Are you kidding?" Varian got a skeptical look on his face and then lit up with joy. "THIS IS THE BEST THING THAT COULD EVER HAPPEN TO ME! I already liked you before but now, the two of us were destined to meet." Varian exploded with joy and took Eugene by the hands and started jumping around the room saying "destined, destined". Everyone else looked on happily.
