Chapter 2:

Dawn broke to find the Burrow in chaos. Harry thought that getting to school was chaotic it was nothing compared to this. Molly was fussing getting everybody fed and ready so that they did not miss their portkey. Once she was satisfied that they were all ready she ushered them all out the door and on their way. They were meeting up with the Diggorys to share a portkey. Harry was nervous because he had never used a portkey before, something else that reminded him that he has very little experience with the wizarding world. It gives him a pang in his heart to be reminded of what he missed out on. Once they arrive at the campsite, they are all amazed at the sights. Harry and Hermione had never seen so many witches and wizards in one place before. As they were walking, they spotted a little family outside of their tent. It was a mom and dad watching their 2 children play on toy brooms zooming around. Harry, watching them just felt heartbroken. This is what he could have had, his parents playing with him; maybe have a sibling or two to grow up with. Everywhere he looked it just seems there were reminders of what he was robbed of. His mood must have shown on his face because Ron and Hermione stopped to check on him. "Harry, is everything ok, you look so sad?" asked Hermione. "Yeah, you know you can always talk to us" added Ron. Harry was not sure how to put into words what he was feeling, so he just brushed it off saying "Everything is fine, it's just a little overwhelming is all". Ron accepted that answer, but Hermione did not believe him and planned to talk to him on his own when she got the chance. Her chance came faster that she anticipated. Ron spotted Dean and Seamus, their dorm mates, and ran over to talk about the upcoming match. "Harry, can we take a walk and talk for a minute?" Hermione asked. Harry, knowing that Hermione can read him like a book, thought that he might as well get it all off his chest. " Sure, lets walk over there", Harry stated. They walked in silence for a little bit before Hermione asked " ok, so what is really going on inside that head of yours. If I know you, your thoughts are everywhere, and you would just keep it all in until you explode". Harry thought about it for a minute before just letting it all out. "Well, it is true that I am overwhelmed, it's just not the World Cup that is overwhelming me. Ever since last year I have this longing for parents that I have never known. A longing for someone to love and take care of me. When I thought I was going to be able to live with Sirius, before Pettigrew escaped, I have never felt happier. Learning new things about my parents, it was wonderful. Then in less than an hour it all got taken away again. I just want my parents, and that makes me feel like a baby but that's what it comes down to". Hermione stayed silent the whole time afraid that if she spoke, he would close up. Finally, when she knew he was finished, she started to speak. "Harry it is only natural to feel that way. You have had a lot of traumas in your life and you're trying to process. Everyone wants their parents when something bad happens, and the fact that most of what you have gone through is because of the loss of them, of course you want them". This made Harry feel a little better, just talking about it, even though he still feels like a part of him is missing. It was then that Ron made his way back over talking happily about the upcoming match. They made it to their tent just in time to leave for the match. Once the match was over, they headed back to the tent for the night excitedly going over all the plays from the game. They went to bed that night happily thinking about Quidditch. A few hours later they were awoken to screaming and loud noises. They leave the tent to see people in masks levitating muggles and setting tents on fire. Everyone was running and screaming to get away. Arthur told the kids to get back to the portkey he would meet them there. They made their way toward there when they got jostled off the path into the woods. All of a sudden, they hear a man's voice say something they couldn't make out and then there was a glowing green light in the sky. Before they could process what happened they were decended upon by Ministry officials shooting stunning spells their way. Arthur arrives and convinces them that the children were not involved. Harry was confused and asks Hermione "what was that and why did it cause that reaction?" "That was Voldemort's mark, it was the mark that he and his followers used after they killed someone." Hermione stated. Harry was at a loss for words. Does that mean Voldemort is getting stronger? Is he going to be coming after me now? Why can't I have one thing without it becoming life or death? They finally made it back to the portkey and headed back to the Burrow before Molly could find out what happened and worry. Harry's last thoughts as he headed into the Burrow was that he hopes for a quiet school year.
