Deva sat alone on his throne inside the main hall of immense and massive palace. The tiled marble floors reflected the light from the many torches adorning the pillars supporting the grand blue vaulted ceilings above. The throne room was eerily silent and empty. Deva had sent away his courtiers and entertainers long ago, having grown extremely bored of their antics. The rich opulence of gems and gold lined the floors but even their glinting gold had become stale and stagnant to him. He sighed deeply. Deva had not felt this discontent in a long time. He had all the riches in the world, beautiful women to entertain him, delicious food to sate his appetite. But despite it all he was unsatisfied. His ego longed for something more. But Deva did not know what would satisfy his appetite.

He glanced out the large palace windows to the sky above. He could just make out the ebony moon over the mountains of his homeland. It had only been a few years since the new shinigami had taken over. Deva was not impressed one way or the other. The change hadn't affected him much. But he still wondered how a being so powerful as he claimed to be could let such a thing happen. If he were in charge of the world, things like that would never happen.

It was as Deva had that thought that he noticed a presence in his quarters. They had managed to conceal their soul but Deva could always sense peoples' thoughts at a distance. A fact that this foolish intruder seemed not to be privy too. But from what he could sense their seemed to be no ill intent. Not as though this intruder would prove to be a good assassin anyway. Bored yet intrigued by the would be intruder, Deva decided to humor them.

"You can come out now." He called into the nearly empty halls. "I know you're there." He finished. Deva waited for a moment before he noted a figure step out from around one of the pillars. He was immediately taken by her beauty. She had a long flowing black dress and black and red hair that accentuated her crimson eyes. Her lips were full and painted red. She walked forward with a sultry sway to her hips. Her heels clicked on the tiled floors with every step. She approached the throne stopping just before Deva who raised an eyebrow.

"Well now, you're certainly a sight." Deva commented. "I'll give you a chance to introduce yourself before I decide whether or not to kill you." He threatened nonchalantly. However the figure was not perturbed.

"You may call me Lady Raven Tengu your highness." She said with a bow. Deva lounged recreationally in his throne.

"And what exactly are you doing here?" He inquired.

"I've come to offer a proposition to you oh great one." She said simply. Deva raised an eyebrow questioningly.

"You're either awfully brave or awfully foolish to come to me alone in the middle of the night with a proposition. Although I suppose you think being a witch means I can't hurt you?" He responded. If Lady Tengu was surprised by the quip she didn't show it.

"You're incredibly perceptive yourself your highness." She said strutting forward with a hand on her hip.

"Yes well, flattery will get you everywhere as they say. But you still haven't answered my original question." Deva said sitting up straighter.

"Well let me answer your question with a question of my own." She said approaching the throne. "What do you think of the Shinigami?" She said taking a seat on his throne's arm rest. Deva raised an eyebrow at the inquiry. He had never given either of the two much thought. Now that Death the Kid had taken over in his father's stead he supposed he was not all that impressed with the fledgling god.

"I certainly don't think they're as mighty as I am." He answered confidently. Lady Tengu smiled down at him. She stood up and began circling his chair.

"I agree. In fact don't you think that the order of the world would be much better in your capable hands?" She said from over his shoulder.

"What are you getting at?" Deva asked suspiciously. Lady Tengu leaned in closer to him, her hair brushing ecstatically against his skin.

"I mean that the Shinigami, both the old and the new, have failed in their duties. Just look at the state of the world today. But your nation is perfect, the people here are devoted to you as their god. Wouldn't the whole world be better off with someone like you in charge?" She whispered seductively in his ear.

Deva thought the idea over in his head. It sounded incredibly tempting. After all, the witch was right. He was a god, and his chosen people all obeyed him completely and prospered for it. Given everything he had heard about the Shingami over the years it seemed ludicrous for them to still be in control if everything they touched ended in disaster. The longer Deva thought about the idea, the more attracted to it he became. But there was just one problem.

"Even though I agree with you, the Shinigami is still the Shinigami. He's incredibly powerful and he has the backing of many forces and powers in the world. Overthrowing him will not be easy, even for the two of us." Deva said running his hand over her wrist. Lady Tengu smiled and let his grip linger for just a bit before coyly pulling away to sit on his lap.

"Do not fret about that my dear king. For you see, I have secret information that will bring the Shinigami and the DWMA to it's knees." She said playing circles on his bare chest.

"Oh? And what might that be?" Deva said leaning closer to her face. But once again the Witch teased him and pulled away just before his lips reached hers. She stood up and began to walk away from the throne, leaving him somewhat frustrated but intrigued.

"You see, there used to be more Gods in this land, each with their own brands of Madness. I've discovered that the Shinigami and his 8 warlords sealed their Madness in 8 special medallions. If we get the medallions, we can reshape the world and take control of it for ourselves." She explained. "Think about it. There will be no more conflict, no more loss, only complete obedience and prosperity." Lady Tengu glanced over her shoulder.

"So are you in?" The witch asked teasingly. Deva looked her voluptuous form up and down and Lady Tengu knew that she had her talons in him. With his ego sufficiently stroked she had him wrapped around her finger. Deva smirked at her and rose from his throne. Lady Tengu allowed him to approach, no longer pulling away from his touch.

"Tell me more…" He asked as their lips met.
