Duo Halfbreeds

Chapter Fifteen: An Untamed Animal

Crowds cheered as the Earth trembled in the ground below the auditorium. A powerful shockwave occurred as a fist struck its opponent, sending him flying into the walls of the arena. The man who threw the fist, could be described as quite the wicked and creepy looking fighter. At a towering height of about six feet he stood, his chiseled physique well-defined, and his exoskeleton gleamed under the sunlight.

The mix of crimson and brown colors contrasted his piercing yellow eyes, his muscular arms and broad shoulders were adorned with a set of deadly spines, protruding from his skin like razor-sharp blades. His fingers and toes ended in sharp, pointed claws that seemed capable of tearing easily through even some of the toughest metals.

The auditorium shook upon the impact given by this fighter. His head is elongated and narrow, with a pair of curved horns jutting out from his forehead. His mouth is full of jagged teeth, and his nostrils flare with every breath. A pair of leathery wings, tipped with razor-sharp spines, are folded tightly against his back.

As the other fighter stood back up, revealing himself to be Gohan. He looked weak, exhausted, covered in various bruises and wounds.

"What's the matter, kid? Am I too tough for you?" The scorpion-like humanoid replied, his voice raspy with a bit of a hiss laced behind it and deep but with the echoing of a metallic noise, like a blade being sharpened.

Gohan could barely stand on his two own feet, he felt powerless and scared yet he still persevered. His face showed a sense of sorrow and grief, as he could still reflect from the past…

One week ago…

"Warden!" One of the several guards shouted. He could barely keep his ground as the powerful winds threatened to blow him away. "What're we going to do?! His power level is continuing to skyrocket!"

Duran remained unresponsive as he was stuck in his thoughts. "How could a kid have this much power?! HOW!?" He wondered. "I can't stop this! And I can't call anyone else to help! There has to be a way to stop this!"

"His power is going above five thousand!" One guard shouted, stating the obvious.

Duran raced his thoughts, tried his best to think of a solution, then one hit him. "That's right! In the heat of the moment, I have completely forgotten! But if he's this bad I might need to get him to settle a little for it to work!"

Duran turned to the unit next to him. "You guys will have to try your best to distract him and wear him down!" He answered. "Do whatever it takes, get it!?"

The unit was quick to respond as they all nodded and moved to surround Gohan in a circle. However, as one tried to shoot something at Gohan, a strange string attached device, Gohan had vanished long before it even reached him.

Gohan reappeared in the manner of a split second, thrusting his fist into the guard's stomach, in a wild like fashion. As he turned to the other guards, dropping to all fours, he pushed his feet and hands forward, moving a fraction of an inch before vanishing again.

This time he struck the back of another guard's head with his foot. The blow caused the guard to go flying through hundreds of lifeless trees before crashing through a mountaintop, obliterating everything within a hundred foot radius of him.

Trees, bushes, rocks, dirt, and other various plants were all turned into debris. "We need to cooperate as a team!" Another guard shouted. "Follow me and do as I do!" He rushed to Gohan who turned and tried to disappear, but this guard took his best guess to predict his movement, firing a blast straight ahead.

This caused Gohan to fly left, and avoid it but as he did the guard fired his strange string attached device. At the end of the string that was launched was a U-shaped metal object, when it struck Gohan it unleashed a powerful voltage.

"NOW!" The guard shouted. All of the other guards did the same, unleashing powerful jolts to Gohan. Gohan screamed in agony, but a burst of energy and a shockwave blew the devices off, and all it did was enrage him further.

Gohan turned, his pupil-dilated eyes looking at the guards with fierce ferocity before he vanished again, and took them all out beyond faster than the speed of light. Unfortunately for Gohan, a strong net came over him and charged even stronger volts of electricity, causing him to scream.

As Duran walked up to Gohan who struggled to fight against the powerful jolt, a smirk formed on his face. "Calm yourself, Beast…" He said. Suddenly, Gohan blacked out and Duran's smirk widened. "I wasn't sure if the hypnotic commands still had effect on him."

The Day After….

Pitch black, cold, narrow and quiet. These were things Gohan had been feeling for nothing but the past hour. He had no idea where he was, no idea where he went, but all he could think about was yesterday's events.

He had some issue recalling but he remembered enough. His mind fixated on that one moment, tears begged to break out but they wouldn't because Gohan was too stuck on it repeating in his own mind. He could barely breathe or think, he felt so exhausted…so tired….

It was hard for him to keep track of time but no matter the minutes, the seconds, the hours, that passed, eventually light broke through, a crack of light. Light that opened due to the opening of a door.

"Ah so you're still alive." A voice said. The further opening of a door with the increased light, revealed the voice to be Duran. Gohan didn't need to see that it was him; however, he recognized the voice and hearing it filled him with intense fury.

As the door had fully opened, Gohan scowled at him and bared his fangs. "Leave me alone." He hissed.

Duran chuckled. "Oh how silly you sound, thinking you're intimidating." He answered. "After all of this trouble you've given me, I've decided to do a little experiment on you." Gohan looked confused, wondering what he meant by that but chose to remain silent. "And I know you won't be able to resist since I have you under my complete control."

Gohan stood swiftly up and lunged at Duran. "Murderer!"

"Down!" Duran cracked a whip off to the side, made his voice clear, commanding, and direct. Gohan didn't know why but his body reactively dropped before he could reach Duran. It wouldn't listen to him and it was the strangest thing ever. "For the next week, you'll be fighting battle after battle. Since I've lost some of my better profits, I'll have to use you to make up for it."

Gohan wanted to open his mouth to protest but no matter how much he could, something forced him to bite his tongue, swallowing it in. He watched as Duran left the room, laughing evilly, and closing the door. Once he was gone, Gohan regained control of his body, falling to his back.

He felt a surge of tired and low energy as he slowly went to sleep…

Present…

The scorpion-like fighter scoffed. "It saddens me greatly that this is all you have to offer!" He hurled a fist against Gohan's right cheek, sending him flying once again into another wall. This time he crashed through it, creating a big hole.

Gohan blacked out for a blur of a second but regained his consciousness shortly after as his opponent slowly came after him. Gohan could've moved, could've done something but he felt too tired, felt hopeless.

His opponent came closer and dragged Gohan out of the hole by his foot, lifting him upside down. "Pitiful, I could only imagine the trash that called himself your master." He laughed. Gohan's demeanor immediately changed, from something that seemed empty to a spark of flaming fury. "Oh wait that's right, I do know who trained you, in fact a certain someone went ahead and gave me the heads up about him."

The scorpion-like fighter threw Gohan ten feet in the air to change where his grip was, now onto Gohan's arm. "I was told that the one who trained you was an insignificant, little worm, that didn't have the guts to teach you how to fight in a real battle!" He slammed Gohan down on his back, causing Gohan to release a short scream and a slight mixture of blood and saliva that erupted from his mouth.

His opponent pulled Gohan back up. "With the way you've acted in this fight so far, the unwillingness to fight, I'm almost certain he was as cowardly as you are." He mocked. "Too afraid to help you! And too afraid to come save his little precious student!" He swung Gohan over his head again as he aimed for the ground but something made him float up midway instead.

It was Gohan, having overpowered the fighter as Gohan swung the fighter flying. Gohan stood still, his fangs beginning to bare, and a growl slowly emerging from his throat.

Cowardice…Insignificant…Weak…Clown… These were words that were constantly being shoved down Gohan's throat this last week, some about him, but a lot about Priamus, a lot about his friends. They wanted him to fight, to be a murderer, to show some real ferocity, but time and time again Gohan refused.

However, it began to get harder and harder, they all made it clear that they wanted him to feel alone, to feel scared, to feel worthless. Gohan clenched his fist tightly as his aura started to generate violently. "They want me to get tough?" His aura bursted at the seams and exploded with power. He decided that's exactly what he was going to do.

As his opponent stood back up and headed for Gohan, Gohan lifted his head and aimed his sights at the man as he released a violent and savage roar. He lunged forward, struck the man first before he could, grabbing his chin and dropped towards the ground.

As he approached the ground, Gohan threw his opponent into the earth, but before he could actually reach the ground, Gohan vanished, darting to below his opponent, throwing a clawed fist as the man's head leveled in front of Gohan.

The scorpion-like fighter stood back up, moments later, feeling quickly drained as Gohan sent another powerful strike to his side. The fighter went flying again but before he could crash into anything, Gohan caught him in a juggle.

For several minutes, Gohan wildly thrashed and ravaged his opponent all over the arena, thrusting his knee into his face, sending powerful stomps into his back, punches to his face and abdomen. As the minutes passed, the man began to fade, and when his struggling stopped, Gohan did too.

The man fell from the sky harshly into the ground, causing a crack beneath him. Gohan dropped himself to the ground and aimed his hand at the man, generating a powerful energy sphere in front. As he did, the man's face sank with fear and as much as Gohan tried, he couldn't do it.

In a fit of rage, he kicked the man like a soccer ball before walking away.

A total of six months have passed since Raditz arrived on Earth that fateful day…

The gates to the prison yard opened, causing a loud noise that alerted all prisoners. "Huh, that's strange, they almost never open the gates." One prisoner said with a perplexed face formed.

Another beside him shrugged. "Perhaps some new fish?"

The previous one nodded. "Gotta be, we haven't had any in awhile, especially since a while back during …" He looked from side to side before whispering. "The incident…" Rumbling started to occur as a massive van-like vehicle pulled its way into the prison. "Ah look at that! We were right!"

Soon the van stopped, and the two guards from the front came around, opening the back. "Alright, get out into your new home, punks." One said, getting a chuckle from his partner beside him. One by one they came out.

The first one that came out was large, towering up to eight feet, a very muscular individual covered in dark thick fur, he resembled very much like that of a Gorilla. He donned a black combat vest and dark green combat pants. Although a bit resilient to move out from the van, one of the guards gave him a short shock that made him move along.

The second to come out was a man of five feet and eight inches, he had this dark oak bark-like skin, his fingers were thin and pointy, and instead of hair he had these few tree-like branches protruding from the top of his head. There were two to three leaves on each branch except for a single one, and on the leave-less one it had two extra sticks that branched off.

He donned a woven vine robe that almost looked like it was part of him. He came out willingly and moved away.

The next to come out was a lean, four foot and nine inches tall, reptilian-like alien, with dark emerald green scales covering his body, a short tail that barely touched the ground, and piercing yellow eyes with vertical slit pupils. He donned a black jumpsuit that fitted to his lean body perfectly, with dark gray gloves and boots.

The fourth that came out had this gelatinous-like body, with long slender arms and legs, its head was a bit elongated horizontally, its fingers were thick and wide, possibly the most bubble-like part of its body, and because its body was translucent, you could see what looked like its veins connecting all the way up to its brain.

This particular being floated smoothly out of the van, he had this thing around the top of his head that resembled a jellyfish dome. After him only about three were seen coming out but the guards had not seemed to close the door.

One of the guards looked at the other, giving a mutual glance. He turned to look inside. "Hey! You!" He shouted. "Get out!" The individual being shouted at ignored them. "Don't make us come in and force you out!"

The individual made a loud sigh. "Don't strain yourself, I'm coming out." He replied. As he came out, he had this dark gray cloak attached around him, no one could really see his face or body but his height was clear, about six feet and if you looked real careful you might be able to see a shiny glare from inside his cloak where his face would be.

A small strand of hair could be seen protruding out from the cloak but other than that nothing else could be seen about him other than the cloak around him. It seemed that he had some absurdly broad shoulders which pushed the cloak outward but it was still large enough to keep him contained.

The guards leave immediately after and the cloaked figure heads towards the inner prison, however it is blocked by a couple of individuals.

One about five feet and eight inches, his body lean but well-built, his skin blueish white with an incy texture, he wears a dark blue and silver armor that resembles ice crystals, which covers his arms, chest, and legs.

"Where do you think you're going? You still haven't gotten your initiation yet, new fish." He said.

The cloaked man turned to where he was pointing, watching the gorilla-like alien from earlier fighting against another rock-like individual.

The cloaked man scoffed and turned back. "Not interested." He said, trying to make his way inside but the frosty inmate and the one next to him blocked the man from going.

"Nuh uh uh! Rules are rules." The other inmate said. He was a bit taller, quite more muscular, and had broader shoulders than the one next to him. He was more of a bulky iceberg than a slim one like the one next to him. "Abide by them or face the consequences."

The cloaked man was unamused and slightly irritated. "Out of my way!" He growled. A burst of energy and a sudden blur, the two blocking the way were down to the ground and the cloaked individual was gone.

He headed for his cell once again and lied in the bed given to him. As he did, a smirk formed across his face. "What an interesting power." He muttered. The man sat up, his eyes closed as he focused on the same power radiating from the arena. "It's been a while since I've felt something so ferocious and wild, I didn't think such a power existed here…"

The Colosseum..

A blur seen darting from place to place, causing the ground or wall it impacted to crush and crumble as it headed closer and more rapidly towards an green gelatinous individual who seemed a bit panicked. In a final blur, a powerful blow was struck to him, causing him to go flying before splattering against the wall.

The crowd cheered loudly and excitedly. "Can you believe that, folks?! Look at that incredible power! Yet another victory from the Colosseum's Blood Beast! This time against Slimegaze! Let's all cheer for a finishing blow!" The announcer shouted.

The crowd began chanting for Slimegaze's opponent to finish it, the beast, who now is clearly visible, revealing to be Gohan, who seemed to have grown a couple of inches. His armor has seen much better days, as it is nearly destroyed, with an entire lower side covered in cracks.

When it became clear that Gohan ignored their chants, the crowd started booing. "It must be one of those days again! We all know what a rebellious attitude gets!" The announcer said, stating the obvious. The crowd laughed as two guards came in Gohan's direction but Gohan ducked, trying to avoid it.

He jumped back, gaining some distance and fired a blast towards their way but one of the guards slashed it in half. Gohan was caught by two guards behind him, he tried to struggle from their grip, but the gloves attached to their hands generated powerful jolts of electricity.

However, Gohan seemed…mostly unfazed despite it. He used their grip against them and tried to throw them off of him, only for the guards to let go beforehand. Several more guards came and they all blasted their tridents together to create a powerful ring and ray of violent electricity that caused Gohan to scream in agony before falling to the ground.

Barely conscious, Gohan could only see bits and pieces of what happened, but he saw them blast the reassimilated Slimegaze to nothing and saw the crowd cheering. He blacked out shortly after…

Several Hours Later…

Awakening in the pitch-black room he has been for a long time, Gohan sighed to himself, sitting up for a moment, his chin onto his two hands as he thought heavily to himself.

"Bored…" He said. He generated an energy sphere from his hand and aimed it up, lighting the entire room. Nothing but solid cement walls and the door that kept him from going out there. He fell onto his back and sighed again.

A few minutes later passed and the door opened. Gohan immediately shot up, the person who opened the door was another random guard, Gohan's demeanor changed quickly to that of an annoyed one. The guard tossed a mop near Gohan and motioned for him to pick it up.

"You got some cleaning to do." The guard said. Gohan remained unmoved. "Not joking, now pick up the mop or else."

Gohan sighed, grabbing the mop and stood up, walking past the guard….

Now at the auditorium, a nightly sky with stars shining brightly all around, Gohan was cleaning the absolute mess the audience left in the auditorium. From spilled drinks, crumbs and spilled snacks everywhere, and even some unmentionables, it was a pretty gross task.

It beat the hell out of being where he was before though. At least he was in the fresh air and up in an area where he could see the landscape, despite there not being much to see. However, if Gohan was caught slacking, he'd get a quick jolt from one of the guards and a yell to keep moving.

"Man…I wish I could use the training yard." He thought as he pushed the mop back and forth. As he continued to clean, something dawned on him, he realized there was light, and the auditorium lights were off. "Wait…how is it light out if its night time?"

Gohan looked to the sky, noticing the stars but as bright as they were, they couldn't have shown so much light, something else had to have been causing the light, and when he turned to the direction of the soft bluish white ray, he noticed a big sphere in the sky.

His eyes widened and his mouth hung slightly open. "Is that…the moon?!" He gasped in thought. "Woah, I've never even seen Earth's moon but this moon, it's so big! And it's beautiful!" Gohan found himself stuck in a trance as he continued to stare at silently.

The guards took quick notice of this and one of them flew near Gohan. "Hey!" He shouted. "Get back to work!" He cracked a whip at Gohan from the side but nothing worked. The guard was bewildered by this sudden change in Gohan's demeanor.

The young halfbreed's own eyes began to turn red, his heart thumped every two seconds, as he quickly began to change, fangs grew, his body grew, and fur developed. The clarity of the situation hit the guard soon as he saw Gohan's tail growing with him.

The guard reacted critically, firing a blast of energy to the ever enlarging Gohan but it was long too late. "WE GOT A CODE OOZARU!" He shouted, pressing the button on the side of his scouter. The sirens on both the prison and colosseum went off.

The colosseum was quickly surrounded with a multitude of guards, including Duran who was swift to arrive at the situation.

"You didn't try to cut his tail off?!" Duran yelled.

The guard looked panicked, had not much to answer with. "I tried! By the time he started transforming, there was n-"

A loud roar from the fully transformed Gohan interrupted them all, making them focus to stop him. He smashed his fists against his chest, his feet crushed the side of the auditorium, and he grabbed a massive piece of rubble to throw at the guards.

Most of them dodged and one narrowly escaped. Gohan stood a towering fifty feet and as large as he was, his speed remained the same.

"W-What do we do, warden?!" One guard shouted. "His power is off the charts!"

Duran gritted his teeth angrily. "Hold him off! Distract him!" He yelled. "I'll get to his tail and cut it off!" The other guards charged after Gohan, some keeping distance to fire blasts, while others tried to go in for the blow to hit him.

However, Gohan ignored their attacks completely and turned to Duran, as he threw a fist at Duran. Duran narrowly evaded the large fist.

The Prison…

The cell doors suddenly opened and bit by bit, inmates gathered around the yard, many wondering what's going on. A singular guard stood around, watching them.

"What the hell is goin on?!" One shouted. He was quick to notice the large ape and sounds comin from the colosseum.

"Nothing for any of you to worry about." The guard answered. "We only let you out in case something goes wrong, good to have precautions. Otherwise maintain quietness."

Around the same time, the cloaked man from earlier got up from his bed, a smirk formed across his face. "Familiar energy…" He thought. "It's that ferocious one from earlier but something…is different." He got up from his cell to check out the commotion, noticing the large ape from his view. A confused look formed on his face.

"Is that…an ape?!" He gasped. "That's not possible! All of the Saiyans are dead except for a few!" His visible eye darted around as he examined Gohan. "It's a young ape…A young ape? How? There are no females left…unless… it's a halfbreed?"

He rubbed his chin inquisitively. "If I could just get closer to it."

The Colosseum…

Gohan roared loudly again as his fist crushed two of the many guards while also getting blasted by several blasts from behind at the same time. It irritated him, causing him to roar once more as he turned and swung his fist completely around, missing most of the guards, and sending one flying.

Duran tried to reach in close but couldn't seem to find an opportunity. "Damn it! I can't call for back-up, by the time they would make it this place would be a wasteland! And I can't seem to get to it myself!" He clenched his fists angrily. "I'll just have to try my best to stop him!" He flew to Gohan's face, slamming his fist against his giant cheek, causing him to stumble to the side a bit.

Duran took this split second of pause to go after Gohan's tail but as he got close, Gohan's tail went up before coming back down on top of Duran. It slammed Duran into the ground, causing the ground beneath to crumble deeply.

"Warden!" Another guard shouted. He tried to go help him but another fist was thrown. A short moment after, Duran pulled himself from the rubble, wheezing heavily before coughing a mixture of saliva and blood.

Meanwhile at the prison, all could see the destruction to the colosseum. The one guard there realized they needed all the help, contemplating whether he should or not. He quickly realized there may not be a prison to watch if Gohan was still rampaging.

"Damn it!" The guard mumbled. He released his aura and flew after Gohan, several of the prisoners watched as he flew away.

The cloaked man continued to watch observantly for another few minutes as he could see that it was going nowhere. Watching the guards drop like flies, one by one, then finally he flew up and decided to do something.

"Hey!" One of the inmates shouted. "What're you doin! We're not supposed ta leave from here!"

The cloaked man ignored him as he flew higher into the sky, and concentrated immense energy into the right palm of his hand. His aura released and more energy continued to sparkle and swirl before turning into a smooth yellow sphere.

He turned his sights to the massive moon ahead, continuing to gather as much energy as he could before unleashing a violent wave of energy as he let loose a loud shout.

Some of the watchers below were confused. "Did he just …fire at the moon?" One said.

"Hey Idiot!" Another shouted. "You're supposed to fire at the damn monkey! Not the moon!"

The cloaked man continued to ignore them as he waited momentarily for his blast to make contact with the moon. Another minute passed before the moon exploded into nothing and a massive shockwave caused hurricanes like no one could believe.

These hurricanes were so powerful even Gohan, still in his form, was blown away. The Colosseum, what was left of it, was turned to rubble, and the prison was slightly damaged. As another few minutes passed, the cloaked figure made his way to where the colosseum once was, digging through the rubble.

He eventually found Gohan and picked him up by his tail. As each of the remaining guards came to, they were quick to react.

"Halt! You're not allowed to be here! Return to your cell, prisoner!" The guard said. "And leave the kid to us!"

Duran himself soon awoke and was able to get back up, giving a wave to dismiss his guard. "Cease fire." He announced. The guards were confused and Duran's focus was on the cloaked man. "You stopped him?" The cloaked man nodded in response. "How.."

"I have a bit of knowledge about Saiyan history. Let's just say I know a workaround." He answered. "If you want, I can prevent this from ever happening again…on a certain condition."

Duran raised an eyebrow. "You expect me to bargain with a prisoner?" He asked. The cloaked man smirked and nodded again. "Fine. Name your price. Freedom is not for sale."

The cloaked man shrugged. "Fine with me." He answered. "I'll tell you the conditions…in due time, but as for you, I can keep him contained, his tail will continue to regrow back even if I take it off now, so there is very little point in removing it. As long as you keep him from being outside during the night, you should be fine."

Duran sighed. "And you're telling me this because?"

"Saving time, don't need to have the conversation later if I already explain it." The cloaked man replied. He looked around at the rubble. "Looks like you have a lot of rebuilding to do." He flew away with Gohan in his hand, heading to the prison yard.

Duran placed a hand on his forehead, as stress built up in him. "Great, another prisoner I have to keep my eye on." He thought. "Maybe I should just go ahead and sell it to the Ginyu Force." He shook his head.

One of the guards walked up to Duran, a bit confused from overhearing. "Sir, I don't get it. The kid destroyed the entire Colosseum, why not kill him?" He asked. "Won't he just cause too many issues for us?"

Duran shook his head, turning to face the guard. "No. With the money he provides, he outweighs this incident." He explained. "Besides, having to deal with that Saiyan, Vegeta, because we couldn't do our job is worse. We'll rebuild.."
