She stared blankly at the wall. It had been days since she arrived to Storybrooke, and all she did was mope around Granny's like the depressed teenager she is. Ruby had brought her some breakfast, and she slowly poked at it. Because declining it would be rude. Days ago she told Neal that she's determined to reach Neverland, but now she's starting to think it's impossible.
She closed her eyes. "Just…Give me a sign Pan…"
Shaking her head, she jumped up from her borrowed bed and went downstairs. It's time to make herself useful. She placed her plate on the counter, ignoring the current conversation. Emma and Neal was talking about Neal's bride to be, and she didn't really cared. She hardly knew the woman. She sat down, trying to eat her food again. She can see Emma eyeing her, and she shrugged.
"I don't know Miss Tamara very well…Can't really help you there." The girl said.
"No. It's not about that." The blonde woman gestured her to a private corner. Seeing that the girl was going to follow, she continued. "I did a background check on you yesterday. Why didn't you tell me that the system had released you?"
"Excuse me?" She crossed her arms. "Who said I was in the system?" Mumbling, she knew who. Mr. Neal. Sighing, she gave in. "Because it doesn't matter. Nobody wanted me when I was in the system, and nobody cares about me now. Look. I'm just here until I find my wallet, then I'm out of this stupid fairytale cursed town. You don't have to see me ever again."
Walking past her, the teen girl left Granny's. She saw Henry, and she sighed. "Not now." She ran past the kid.
Henry ran up to her. "Hey. You can't leave Storybrooke."
The kid overheard her? "Watch me." Looking around her surroundings, she approached a random car and managed to broke into it. Climbing in, she wondered if she remembers how to Hotwire the thing. She could see Henry getting her attention, and she groaned. "I'm not one of your fairytale characters Henry, I can leave. Coming here was a mistake."
"But what about your dreams? What about Peter Pan?"
"They're just stupid dreams…" She sniffed. She pulled out her book from the bag that Ruby given her and she glared at it. "I don't care if the curse is real or not, this stupid thing has been holding me back from actual reality. I mean do I want Peter Pan to come steal me away and escape to Neverland? More than anything. But that's only a fantasy. And this, right here, is reality. Time to find where I belong."
"You belong here. with us."
"What makes you say that?"
"Just trust me. You wouldn't be here if you didn't belong. Besides. I need your help."
"My help…." Stepping out the car, she leaned against it. "With what?"
"A lot has happened ever since we came back, bad things."
She crossed her arms. "This concerns me how? Have you noticed? I don't have magic." She literally waved her arms up in the air.
"Magic is the problem. I want your help destroying it."
"Destroy magic? Kid even I know that's….you know what never mind. I refuse to be apart of this. Sorry. If you want to destroy magic or whatever that's on you. I don't want to be apart of it."
With that, she decided to go back to granny's. She may as well. As for Henry, she doesn't care what he does or where he went. At her destination, looks like Miss Tamara has arrived. Joy. With a greeting, she just asked Ruby for a glass of soda.
Listening to the story of how Miss Tamara met Mr. Neal, she was tempted to roll her eyes. But didn't. Instead, she glanced at Henry's book. Mr. Neal had it on him again and she was tempted to take it. For research purposes. Yeah that's it. Not paying attention, she looked up as Miss Tamara rushed out of the diner.
"She didn't believe you about the book did she?" It wasn't hard to figure it out. "It's none of my business but…..if you're done with the book I'll borrow it now thank you."
Snatching the book, she was going to go elsewhere but Neal stopped her.
"Forget about Pan. You don't know what he's capable of."
Turning around a as he spoke, she hugged the book very closely. "Maybe not. But I don't care. Whatever you went through, it won't happen to me. I can feel it. Besides. You never care about me before, why now?" Not giving him a chance to speak, she passed him and went outside. A man she never seen before eyed her, and she shrugged him off.
She was on a mission. If nobody's going to help her, that's on them. She found the field where they were growing the magic beans and approached one of the men. "Unbelievable. You're really working on a way back..." It was time for her to play the role of an innocent bystander and use the persona Ruby gave her.
"Who are you. This is supposed to be a secret sister." The man said with his arms crossed.
"Who am I? Why it's princess Thumbelina of course, when the curse happened I was separated from my loved ones and was given the name Shan." She tilted her head. "I overheard one of you talking the other day and couldn't help my curiosity. We're really going back?"
"That's none of your business." The man crossed his arms. "If you're really Thumbelina, why do you have Henry's book huh?"
"Learning about myself. Thanks to the curse I've lost most of my memories." She said with a straight face. "Look. I'm really homesick. I don't belong in this modern world."
At that moment, another man approached them and something told her she's screwed.
"Leroy. How are things here?"
Leroy crossed his arms. "They're going." He spoke while eyeing the teenager. "She claimed to be Thumbelina. Take care of it would you, Prince Charming?" He asked sarcastically.
"No, No, it's okay I-" The teen girl started to say, but she found herself following David as he gestured her to.
"I helped Thumbelina a long time ago. I know you're not her. I'm pretty sure she's dead. I don't know what's going on but I do know you're up to something. Who are you. And the truth.
She sighed. "Fine. I'm not Thumbelina. Name's Shan, I came back with Emma and the others. I'm from the outside world okay? There was a pirate ship and I had nowhere to go and was curious so I followed. I have Henry's book because…." She looked away with embarrassment. "I think I have a connection with somebody from your world. I….I was trying to go to him are you satisfied?"
"Come with me."
Shrugging, the teenager followed the man. He took her to his home, where she saw a woman who looked emotionless.
