We have always believed we were alone in the universe. That our world was the only one with life.
But there is a whole other universe beyond our own.
And no one would have believed, in the early years of the 21st century, that our world was being watched by intelligences greater than our own; that as humanity busied themselves about their various concerns, they observed and studied, the way a man with a microscope might scrutinize the creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water.
With infinite complacency, men went to and fro about the globe, confident of our empire over this world.
Yet, across the gulf of space, intellects vast and cruel and unsympathetic regarded our planet with envious eyes...and slowly, and surely… paid no mind to it.
Except… they would never suspect, that a handful of people on it.. would have been shown the truth… that their world was a part of a more vast empire without even knowing about it.
And that they had a part to protect not just it, but their home.
Earth
Island Nation of Japan
The Year: 2001
The world went on as it did in this time, but nobody would have known that on this day, things would change.
This story happened closer in the center of Japan's greatest point of interest. In a place called...
Mount Fuji
Mount Fuji was an active stratovolcano, located on the Japanese island of Honshu, with a summit elevation of 12,389 ft 3 in. It was the tallest mountain in Japan, the 2nd-heighest volcano located on an island in Asia, and 7th highest peak of an island on the planet Earth. As a Stratovolcano, the last time it erupted was from 1707 to 1708. The mountain was located about 100 km southwest of Tokyo and was visible from the Japanese Capital on clear days. Mount Fuji's exceptionally symmetrical cone, which was covered in snow for about five months of the year, was commonly used as a cultural icon of Japan and was frequently depicted in art and photography, as well as visited by sightseers, hikers, and mountain climbers.
One of which was heading upward and resting on a spot on it. He was a Japanese man starting his twenties, with clean cut brown hair, tanned skin, and a smirk on his face as he had just reached the optimal spot for a good rest, and a drag of his cigarette. He was in a black and blue climber suit with a gray cap on, black gloves and boots, and had a grayish blue hiking/climbing bag on him, with climbing axes on his belt. His name was Fujisawa Masamichi, a college student finally graduated on his way to becoming a highschool teacher.
He had set his gear down, and was sitting down, taking a freshly lit drag of his cigarette, as he got a good look at the amazing view of the forest and landscape before him. "Man oh man," he mused as he smirked, "I don't think I'll ever get tired of this view." He mused on it, as he said to himself, "Maybe when I get my first gig to be legit, I can take the students out here on a field trip. Course, I'll have to take a safe route for them; last thing I want is a wrongful lawsuit if something goes wrong with them climbing."
Fujisawa was so engrossed in his plans for a future field trip for his students, or the view, that he didn't realize where he was sitting. The ground beneath his bag was starting to crack, and slowly the cracks were creeping up to him, as he was still in thought, "Though I think before the field trip, I could have them do climbing exercises. Btu then I'd have to convince them to build a climbing wall in the gym area."
The cracks furthered around him, as he said to himself, "I'm sure it'll be fine. The view will be all the worthwhile." But then thought aloud in doubt as the cracks furthered around him, "Though I'm pretty sure for the climbing wall, the gym teacher would be in charge. Might be a kind of pervert. Might have to take up with the school board about both genders wearing long pants for the exercises instead of the usual shorts."
And then suddenly, the ground fell in, taking Fujisawa and his bag with him, as he cried out down below. He fell for a few seconds and crashed. Groaning, he had landed on his pack, which served to blow the fall a bit. He groaned, as he spat out his bent cigarette, and groaned, "Note to self: when planning this field trip, make sure to avoid situations like this so find any cave in areas or potential areas like this later on."
He then looked upward to the hole, as he said, "Well, guess if I can't go back that way, I'll have to find another route." And then pulled out his folding cellphone, as he blinked, seeing it was a bit damaged, "Guess option 3 might not work at all."
He looked around and saw blackness in the cave, as he sighed, "I do not wanna get lost in this place."
But then, before anything else happened, a strange light shined, catching his attention. Not too far, something hummed to life, as it glowed with a bright light blue illuminance to it. It almost felt like it was from another world to say the least.
As he shielded his eyes, Fujisawa squinted blinks at the light, asking himself, "What is that?"
Fujisawa scooted a bit closer, as the light didn't seem to do or attempt anything. It seemed to merely beckon the man over, as his body was shadowed by the light, as he got closer. But what he would discover that day, would change the course of the lives of not just it, but those around the discovery that the future teacher had found merely by accident.
