In which the sun and the moon are the embodiments of life and death.
Chapter I
Everyone heard the story of how the sun and the moon were the first to experience everything before being raised to the sky in reverence to their sacrifice and grand love for each other. It passed through the mouths of all the Creator's children and though generations have passed since the original story had become myth, many began a new story. A new tale.
One that foretold the destruction of what is, what was, and what will be. No one knew when this event would happen but the people kept on gazing at the sky in hopes to be one of the witnesses that would be able to see the grand phenomenon of a new night and a new day.
In the land of Konohagakure, The Land of Fire's greatest and most powerful nation, two forces were born. One in jubilance. The other silence.
Just like the sun and the moon. Opposites yet gifted from the same source. The Creator had touched their mothers in the hope of bringing light to a seed that was destined to change the world.
Kushina, sat under the yellow awning on her terrace, a serene smile across her face as she watched her only daughter, Naruto, move hesitantly across the patched sunflower blanket that held her curiosity.
Her sun kissed skin contrasted from her mother's luminous glow, which in itself was beautiful; according to her beloved husband, Minato. But as Kushina took in Naruto's bright smile and her innocent gaze she could not help feeling that she would not be with her long.
She felt like she would need to be gone for her daughter to reach her full potential. She had not spoken to Minato about her worries or concerns, as he had to focus on protecting the village.
But this bubbling pit in her stomach had not gone away. In the months prior to her daughter's birth, Kurama had informed her that a sickness had taken place within her blood. It had cloaked itself as a common cold during her pregnancy but now that Naruto was out...
"It is not too late to seek medical attention." Kurama told her, his long tails swaying in the cage of her mind.
"I know." She said, looking at Naruto. "It's just-"
"The ramifications of your decision today will cause more harm than good." The deep rumble of his voice was reminiscent of her grandfather.
She laughed. When wasn't there a consequence for people's actions?
The happy squeals and cries of Naruto made her look toward the front gate.
Mikoto, her best friend, had come to visit. In her arms was Sasuke, the second son, of her husband Fugaku. Itachi, Mikoto's oldest child, was holding a fruit basket.
"Naruto is energetic today." Itachi said as he lifted her off the blanket.
Her blue eyes widened in surprise before happy giggles escaped her. She pulled on his ivory bang with a mighty tug. The grimace on his face caused a pout to appear.
As she released a yawn Itachi let out a soft chuckle. Naruto truly did remind him of Sasuke.
And though it wasn't often that he would visit Kushina, he looked forward to the idea of Sasuke and Naruto being friends.
It would make life more interesting.
Hopefully...
The heated gaze coming from his brother was strong. Sasuke, who was never one to willing partake in another's touch, was silent. And though, Itachi knew that his precious brother was jealous he could not help but feel sorry for Naruto.
Her exuberance was grand. And Sasuke's was dim.
But if he were to put them together they would be as unyielding as a tree. Strong and sturdy. Powerful when needed. Secure.
He just hoped that when they grew up their opposing natures would not drift them apart. Because they were destined for great things. Greater than what the people of Konohagakure have ever seen.
