Fortune favors the bold.

What an idiotic proverb.

No, fortune favors me. The Prince of the Clover kingdom, Romero Kira Clover.

Fortune Favors Me

Mingling amongst the mage knight prospects of Clover, an interesting sight appears before me. A head of silver pig tails, hiding behind a pillar, peeking out every once in a while.

"Well, if it isn't my betrothed, Noelle. A sight for sore eyes, if I do say so myself." I smirk, as I approach a now surprised Noelle Silva.

"R-Romero?! Is that you?! Wh-What are you doing here?"

"Hm, indeed…I wonder..? A fifteen year old at a Magic Knights Entrance Exam…What could he possibly be doing there?" I tease, much to the girl's frustration. "Ah, I know! To sights-"

"Alright! I get it!" She yells, losing both her patience and stutter. "...I mean, why are you here? With a position like yours, you could automatically make yourself a Magic Knight."

Glancing back at the large crowd, my eyes land on the only other person of interest. 'Another possessor of a four leaf, I'll be sure to keep an eye on him.'

"Romero..?"

"Hm? Oh. I suppose you could say, "I am here to scope out the competition."" I answer, before raising my eyebrow at the sudden appearance of another Silva from behind Noelle. "What a surprise to see you here, Nozel." I remark dryly, surprising Noelle once more.

"B-Brother!" She turns around, stammering once more.

"Your majesty." He regards and disregards my presence in quick succession, focusing on Noelle instead. "What are you doing here?"

"I-I…" Like a fallen leaf in the wind, Noelle starts to shake and stutter uncontrollably.

"The Magic Knights have no place for a failure like you. Leave." And leave she does.

'How utterly boring.' I observe, watching Noelle's form run away. "...Perhaps it is not my place to comment, but I don't believe that is how a brother should act."

"You are correct." Oh? "It is not your place to comment." With that, he leaves, having removed my fiancée without my permission.

"Arrogant fool. It seems he has forgotten his place." I mutter, now in a foul mood.

Fortune Favors Me

Across from the other four leaf clover grimoire user, I stop myself from smirking as he sends another futile attack my way.

Dodging was pointless, as the wind current sent my way suddenly curves upwards. "...You are certainly talented. Tell me, what noble house are you from?" I ask, as he stares at me, probably contemplating his next course of action.

"None. I'm an orphan."

"Truly?" I ask, curiosity dripping in my tone. 'I don't believe any noble families have died out in recent memory, well none other than the Faust family and a few others, but their children would be adults or dead at this point. So, a commoner, or a foreigner.'

"Why does it matter? Just fight me."

"Unfortunately, I can't. You'll have to forgive me for this, but… I forfeit."

"Romero forfeits! Yuno is the winner!" William Vangeance announces, throwing me a peculiar stare, which I respond with a stare of my own.

"Why didn-" Ignoring my former opponent, I walk off to look for Noelle, having already lost most of my initial interest. 'He's strong, sure…but I would always win against him.'

My search, unfortunately is without luck, though I do find someone who I am acquainted with. "Mimosa? I didn't expect to find you here. How long has it been?" I lie, having already noticed her in the crowd before.

"R-Romero?! Why are you here?" I suppose they are cousins, so they are bound to have their similarities.

"Who else? And why, you ask? To see you, of course."

"How utterly shameless, you are. Ro-Me-Ro." Ah, it seems my search did bear fru-Ow, ow, ow! "Flirting with my cousin so casually, especially when you knew I was attending?" Noelle asks, pulling my ear.

"How abusive…Would you prefer I flirted with you too?" I unashamedly ask, which only further infuriates my fiance.

"Too? It should be exclusively me…" Oh? Now she's gone and dug herself a hole that she'll dump me in. "You jerk!" And, there she goes again, this time on her way to fight.

"...She's the same as always, isn't she? I can't quite say the same for you, though." Mimosa observes from my side, as we both watch Noelle get ready for her battle. "Do you think she'll land an attack?"

Throwing her a side eye, I hum curiously. "When did the cute, reserved girl from my childhood get so disrespectful?"

"How about…When you decided to disappear for 7 years? Only deciding to show yourself to us now? As an utterly shameless casanova at that." She replies, not once stuttering, a clear contrast to Noelle.

I refrain from showing my surprise, my interest in the Vermillion healer increasing by a great amount. "My. You really aren't the same Mimosa from before, in many ways at that." Noticing Noelle get into her casting position, I snap my fingers. "Oh. To answer your question from before, Noelle will be doing much more than just landing an attack."

I don't bother waiting for her response, as a large wave of water suddenly appears behind the youngest Silva child. Utterly wasting her opponent and flooding the arena. Though it never reached myself or Mimosa. "Wha..?" Mimosa sputters, clearly in shock, which was shared with the spellcaster herself.

"And, I'm never wrong. Perhaps I should become a diviner?" I muse.

"Come forward, Contestant 1." A miscellaneous mage knight calls, to which no one answers. "If Contestant 1 does not show themselves, they will be disq-"

"Prince Romero." Fuegoleon calls my name, unamused. "Come forward."

Walking past the crowd, I revel in all of the murmurs from the nobles and common folk alike.

"The crown prince?!"

"Prince Romero?!"

"That's the Prince?!"

"You there, mage knight." I called. "You shall refer to me as Prince Romero or Your Majesty if you value both your tongue and position."

"O-O-Of c-course, y-your majesty!"

Turning to face the Magic Knight Captains, I frown as I force myself to look up at them. Said captains all looked back at me and raised their hands, as they should…All except for one.

With a finger picking at his nose, Yami Sukehiro ignores my presence entirely.

"..."

"What is your choice, Prince Romero?" Fuegoleon asks, speaking to me as he would in the past.

"I choose the Black Bulls."

"He WHAT?!"

I ignore the explosive outburst behind me, as Yami finally returns to reality, and acknowledges me. "Huh? Did I raise my hand?" I hear him mutter.

"B-B-But, Your Majesty, Captain Yami did not rai-" I cut off the mage knight's interjection.

"He may not have raised his hand, but I have made it so. I am royalty, after all, or do you reject this, Yami Sukehiro?" I ask, waiting curiously for the barbaric response.

Looking at me with a bored look, he just shrugs. "...Well, shit. If it's a royal order, I can't refuse now." Quite the way with words.

"I see." Turning in the direction of where I was previously standing, I met the eyes of my fiancée. Her eyes widen in horror as she notices the look in my eyes. "Then consider this another "Royal Order", Noelle Silva, my other half, shall also be joining the Black Bulls."

"Sure, whatever." Awfully compliant, very unlike him.

Unfortunately, Noelle did not share Yami's compliance. "ROMERO!" Suddenly getting my cheeks pulled, much like in our childhood, Noelle doesn't hide her anger to me. "What were you thinking?! Just because you don't care about being a Magic Knight, doesn't mean I'm the same!"

"Bwut, arench you happy abwout ush beinn togedder?" I speak, observing everyone's surprise at our closeness, considering the nature of our marriage.

"Th-That's besides the point!" She turns away, embarrassed, which in turn, releases my cheeks from any further suffering.

"So you are happy." I remark.

"Romero!" She practically shrieks, much to my amusement. Turning back to the Captains, I smirk at the already irritated Nozel, furthering his ire.

Outside The Arena, Evening

"Oh? And this is?" Before me stood an ashen haired boy with green eyes, though his outfit was telling of his upbringing.

"I'm Asta! Nice to meetcha!" He boisterously announces. "And, hey is it true that you're the prince?!"

"Romero Kira Clover, and yes, it is." If anything he's energetic.

"Woah…Aww, man, here I thought you'd be really cocky." Same as Yami then. If I didn't know better, I may have even assumed he was his son.

"Are you two done? Hold it…Where's the third one?"

"Getting her things, I'm afraid." I answer with a shrug.

"Hn, and yourself?"

"My things are already on their way, so I haven't a reason to worry." I shrug again. "Ah…I suppose we should start on our way?"

"What's with you..?" I hear the Captain mutter. "Uhh…Yeah. We don't have to fly, not that one of you could, since we got my ride with us."

"I'd appreciate it if you didn't call me that, Yami." Oh?

"You got a problem with what I call you, taxi?"

"N-No…" He replies weakly, before turning to us, though his eyes don't meet mine. "So…you are our newest recruits? Nice to meet you, I'm Finral Roula-

"Vaude. The former heir, to be exact. Oh, and Finesse's former betrothed." I smirk.

He finally faces me, but he now looks like he bit into a lemon. "Your Majesty… When did he become so…"

"Hey, Ride. Get us home before I throw your ass all the way there."

"Y-Yes, Captain Yami!" He opens a portal, but I am unable to see where it leads. So, I peer through the spatial gate curiously, without any apparent danger on the other side, I walk in.

In front of me stood a building that…only its creator could love. Turning back, I watch as Asta flys over my head, crashing into one of the outside walls.

"Welcome to your new home, Weirdo one and two." Yami says, coming out of the portal with an exasperated Finral behind him.

"Woah! This is our b-"

Asta is unable to speak further as a magic drawn carriage stops just a few meters away. Getting out of the driver's seat is an aged man in a butler outfit, my butler to be exact. "Alphonse." I smile at the man who has served me since infancy, and my mother before that.

"Would you like for me to bring your things in, Young Romero?" He asks, pulling out a magically enchanted suitcase.

"It's fine, Alphonse. Thank you, and be safe. Oh, and if you manage to come across Finesse, be sure to give her my regards, and my father too, I suppose."

"Of course." He bows respectfully. "May your luck stay strong." With that, he returns on his way to the royal castle.

Suitcase in hand, I notice the stares I am getting. "Let's move on, yes?"

To Be Continued..?

So, this is odd. I first began working on this since…a while ago. I've always thought to myself, the Clover King has to have kids right? But…Uh, he doesn't…I think.

I believe in Asta x Sister Lily supremacy, so forgive me Asta x Noelle fans.

Putting that aside, this is my first Black Clover fic, so be patient with me if I make a mistake here or there…If I do decide to continue this, of course.

Other than that? I have nothing else to say, so bye.
