Yes
Taking a deep breath, she decided to just go for it. She took his hand in hers, feeling the comfortable weight and security of his jacket around her. "Walter, would you consider giving me… giving us another chance?
"Paige," her name was like a mantra that he held close. He studied her face carefully, looking for any signs of deception, malice, or hesitation. He saw none, only what looked like love and regret shining in her beautiful eyes. After all these years, Paige had returned to him. The hole in his heart that he had carried so painfully could be filled.
"I was stupid, I was immature, I was scared. And I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. There hasn't been a day, an hour, a minute when I haven't regretted what I said that night." Paige continued speaking without taking a breath. "What I did later by forming Centipede Partners, but even more than that, that I never came back. I never apologized and let you decide for yourself whether to continue our relationship or not. I took that out of your hands. After all this time, I never stopped loving you. I never stopped wanting to be with you. I never stopped wanting you. And hoping you wanted me too."
Paige stopped, a bit embarrassed by the torrent of words that had just spilled out of her mouth like a flood when the dam broke.
Walter just stood silently, studying her face. After what felt like forever to Paige, he cradled her face in his hands and kissed her gently. He pulled back a few inches and opened his eyes, his eyes never leaving her face. "I know that I made mistakes in the past too. I too have lived with regret over my choices and I am sorry for the way that they hurt you."
Paige blinked back tears at his words. He rested his forehead on hers. Then he spoke just above a whisper. "Paige, I will give you a second chance if you will give me one as well."
Paige couldn't speak. She just wrapped her arms around Walter O'Brien for the first time in what felt like a lifetime.
Walter wrapped his arms around her waist, leaned back, and let out a whoop of joy.
Paige laughed right along with him. Walter watched her face for a few moments and marveled at her beauty and the way she felt in his arms, perfect, just perfect, then he kissed her and it felt as if no time had passed at all.
