Chapter 6

"Kill them!" he screamed as his body began to disintegrate. "Kill them all!" suddenly, a huge swarm of sharp-edged vines were coming towards Giyu from all sides, but some of them were curving down towards Shinobu's unconscious form. Giyu stepped sideways so he was standing over her.

"Water Breathing, Ninth Form: Splashing Water Flow, Turbulent" he sliced up the vines with ease, then headed for the demon herself, but more vines were swarming towards Shinobu.

"Blood Demon Art: Rapid Vine Growth!" there were more vines than ever now. Giyu realized that he'd have to use dead calm again to get rid of them.

"Water Breathing, Eleventh Form: Dead Calm" the vines were gone again, but Shinobu had still been hit by a few of them.

No! Giyu thought. She can't die! I have to protect her! He knew now that he had to kill the vine demon now. Otherwise, Shinobu would be dead.

"Blood Demon Art: Obscuring Da-" the demon in the blue kimono was running towards Giyu. Suddenly, he dropped to his knees. He was gasping for breath, and purple markings were crawling up his face. Blood was seeping from his mouth. It looked like Shinobu had landed her poison after all. He stopped moving, the poison taking full effect.

Two down, one to go. Giyu thought. He realized the sun was going to rise soon, but not soon enough. Suddenly, he had an idea. He picked up Shinobu's wisteria-laced katana. He knew it was made for thrusting techniques, so he hoped this strategy would work. However, he would have to get in close, and if he left Shinobu's side, more vines would hit her. He realized that he would have to move fast enough to either cut off the demon's head or stab her with Shinobu's katana before she could hit Shinobu with more vines.

Finally, he started sprinting as fast as he could towards the demon. She released new vines, but he used his katana to block them, while readying Shinobu's katana in his other hand.

"Hrrraaaahhhh!" he screamed as he stabbed Shinobu's katana straight through the demon's neck.
