Eliza and Jackie drove over to the Donovan house she wasn't sure what to say to Matt but knew what it was like to lose people you love so she would just offer him a ear to listen to anything he had to say.

Getting out of the car after pulling up in front of the house she straightened out her jacket as she walked up to the front door.

Knocking she waited til she saw Matt open the door up a crack. Upon seeing Eliza he bit his lip as he swung the door open even more and pulled her into a deep hug.

She could sense how much he was hurting, she knew they hadn't spent much time together lately but now when he needed her most she was there and that's what mattered to him.

She and he headed inside as she closed the door behind her and sat on the couch leaning on each other.

Jackie had taken off with the car and said she would come back later for her cause they both knew Matt needed her most right now.

About two hours later Eliza left Matt's house and made her way to the Impala where Jackie had parked waiting for her out front. Swapping seats Eliza got in her driver's seat and chose to go over and pick Jeremy up for school she wouldn't leave him to Elena for any reason.

Inside the Gilbert house Elena yelled out for Jeremy as she made her way to the front door to leave for school.

"Come on Jeremy! Going to school walking out he door now,"

"You forgot this," Jenna said jogging over handing Elena her school work as she opened the front door.

As she opened it hers and Jenna's jaws dropped seeing who was standing in front of them with hand poised to knock.

"Elena!,"

"Uncle John..hi,"

"Jenna,"

"John you made it,"

"I said I would be in by noon,"

"What you say and what you do is typically two very different things," Jenna rubbed the back of her neck as John entered the house.

"Uncle John what's up?," Jeremy said as he walked down the stairs knowing now that he needed to get a hold of Eliza to stay at her place for a few days.

Heading outside Jeremy was happy to see the Impala sitting out front and sped walked to it.

"I am so happy to see you both,"

"Knew you would be," Eliza laughed as he slid into the passenger seat that Jackie was happy to give up to him since he was getting out to go to school so it was easier.

"Uncle John's here,"

"Fuck," Eliza knew that wasn't good John hated all vampires if he knew what she was doing he would turn the council on her and ruin all her work.

"Anyways had some business in town so I figured a visit was in order,"

"How long are you staying?," Elena awkwardly asked as she clutched her thermos.

"I don't know yet,"

"Well okay I'm going to go to school see you later," Elena turned heading out the door leaving Jenna to deal with John.

"Where's Eliza?,"

"She doesn't live here anymore she tested out of high school and moved into a home she inherited from her biological family. She still visits and spends time with us all though," Jenna explained with the least amount of information not trusting John to know anything else.

"So what's up with Jeremy?,"

"He just lost a friend so try to be sensitive,"

"I'm always sensitive," John laughed to try to loosen the tension.

"Right so really how long are you staying?,"

"Can you at least pretend to be happy to see me,"

"Oh my god John it's so good to see you how have you been? No I can't,"

"Did you really think I was just going to sign the escrow papers and send them back,"

"Actually I did,"

"I'm not going to let you sell my brother's office,"

"It's not up to you or me it belongs to Jeremy, Eliza, and Elena,"

"They're minors so I get the final say being that I'm the estates trustee," Jenna knew he was right but still didn't think it was fair since one out three were a adult.

At school Eliza dropped Jeremy off, waved to their friends, and took off to go shopping with Jackie.

Jeremy sat on a bench outside in the stoner pit next to Tyler who joined him before school starts. Even though they weren't friends they knew to be civil enough cause of Eliza.

"Nah," Jeremy actually refused the blunt Tyler was offering to him.

"What's your problem?,"

"I just don't want any trying to be better for Eliza,"

"Alright I can understand that and respect it. They say she OD'," Tyler said breaking the silence.

"That's what I don't get she was doing okay,"

"Apparently not,"

"How did she end up buried in the woods that's what I don't understand,"

"By whoever was with her when she OD,"

"Yeah but you leave her there you don't take the time to bury her,"

"Maybe she saw something, hell man I don't know," Tyler said as they both stopped talking about it.

Eliza sat in the lounge in the middle of the council meeting, sheriff Forbes had texted her to let her know about it since she had agreed to join it now that her parent's were gone.

"The corner's office has officially ruled Vicki Donovan's death a drug overdose. Her family has been notified. The truth will stay in this room and we can put this behind us,"

"Thank you Sheriff," Mayor Lockwood chimed in as he took over the spot to take charge of the meeting.

Damon looked around and was surprised to Eliza but joined her on the small couch she sat on allowing her to cuddle up to him discretely.

"And on to more pressing issue John Gilbert has asked to say a few words. Welcome back John good to see you," Mayor Lockwood shook his hand before letting him take the floor.

Elizabeth Forbes walked over standing beside Damon as John walked up causing Eliza to roll her eyes as he slapped her knee playfully.

"Thank you Mayor. Hello everyone it's wonderful to see you. I wish it were under better circumstances. As a founding family member it's my duty to report some distressing news,"

"He's a Gilbert?," Damon whispered to the girls.

"Unfortunately my uncle, my dad's brother,"

"The Gilbert's uncle. His name is John, I call him jackass,"

"A hospital blood bank in the neighboring county of Amherst has reported several break ins over the last two weeks. Seven hunters, four campers, and two state employees have been reported missing. All of this within a 7 mile radius of Mystic Falls,"

"Okay, okay no need to get alarmed right at this moment,"

"Means he doesn't want to cancel the Founder's day kickoff party,"

"You think all of your problems are over but i'm here to tell you nothing's been solved," John made a point to look right at Damon as he spoke.

Eliza knew this wouldn't be good and wrapped her hands around Damon's arm ready to defend him if she needed to.
