Another big one this one's chapter 16. All of them will be big chapters until the end of this book, which is only a few more chapters away crucial things happen now the quarantine zone is established or two main characters get put in there along with their family

A few extra characters get put into the zones as well even though they were in separate zones I decided to add Jason Gwen to this chapter and to the zones that they're in because I just think it would be fun to have at least another couple of friends OK then that's established. Also, I think this one will be another Luther chapter. You'll have at least one more after this, but not right away OK let's get back to it.

Luther

our lives were about to change, and not for the better as we had some devastating news given to us we were finally found and it wasn't good even though we hit the coast well and we traveled enough we were found darn. I heard Mom say they found us.

by the way, a few years passed and now we're close to our teenage years. I'm not obviously, but Scarlet is. I should make that clear.

I know this is a big age jump. Last time you saw us we were younger.

But I guess that's not important right now of how old we are not till later but I guess I should clarify though that I'm about 10 years old that's where I should be at least Scarlett should be about 1314 years old maybe 12 no not 12 1213 or 14 now both of us are becoming teenagers and now they caught us. I don't know what they're gonna do with us when they round us all up like this, but there are some familiar faces of us here.

there were a lot of us humans except for Scarlet. She was the only nonhuman in the group besides my mother, even though most people probably would think she was, maybe she is.

You can't lock us up in here we can, and we will demonstrate that they needed that to be done the disease tired of the non-Vald Orion, not a human, but another natural more and more people got sick. We were separated from humans and non-humans as well.

We watched as more and more naturals got ill As they complained, lock them up, then we entered. Our first quarantine zone. People were separated into different zones throughout the world.

Scarlet was with us because she was in our family. I saw someone come up to us and our roped-off area Scarlet it was so what do you want Scarlet asked if you come live with me you won't have to live in these quarantine zones with these humans, why would I want to do that? She asked because you'd have mostly your freedom, he said my freedom no these people behind they abandoned us they abandoned you, not me I don't have to come to live with you yes you do. They'll leave you behind sis I won't ever leave you behind.

Scarlett stood there thinking, and then she thought again no I went on the bend in the family who took me in the family, who gave me love and shelter the family who cares about me. I will not leave them.

I'm not your sister anymore I heard her say as she stood there. I walked up next to her and looked at Soul's arms and eyes mostly his arm of Orion tattoo.

she's right, you're no longer family to her. You betrayed her to the Vald Dorians, who are now my enemies not just because of you, but because of the Voran disease, I didn't say it out loud only in his ear.

Get out my face he said to me, I won't at least not until we disappear to the quarantine zone and get our assigned building you, but she is still not your family anymore. You abandoned her and besides she paid me way before the quarantine zones. I said again and his face turned red. How dare you be loud. his face turned red, and he said, how dare you accuse me of things you have no place to do that you'll be a second-class citizen anyway once you moved into the quarantine zones.

he's mad at me. Luckily he didn't hit me. I spit on the ground you walk on he said I don't care if you do instead of doing like I did when I was little I wrapped my arms around Scarlet's shoulders she said it's OK.

I know she said he still scares me even though I hadn't seen him in years did you lean on me you know you can always be there for you to lean on me you shouldn't be leaning on him so said I can lean on him if I like Scarlett said she can lean on me I said are you touching her? Makes me mad said so since she refused to come with me, I will take her by force you will not. I said you are not taking her. She's coming to move in with me in the quarantine zone. She's my family.

I don't mind being your enemy she said I'm no longer close to you brother I don't love you I never had you can't manipulate me to love you I have no feelings for you. I heard Scarlet say she said that. I drew her closer even though I was shorter than her just a bit.

I will say like I said when I was younger, so looked at me. What do you mean? I'll say what I said that's mine and you won't touch her. You don't touch what's mine and what I have claimed to myself I'm braver than I was before I will find a way to fight your soul said looking at me and Scarlet if I defeat, you and then Scarlet still standing, I will make her come by force. You won't Scarlet says again I read my arm around her and squeeze her hand instead.

I heard him say, as he used his fire magic to plant a fire smack across her face, which she hadn't done in a long time, the first time he touched her in a while I looked at it I scouted it so if I only had the magic of my own but I don't yet let this fire scar remind you of who you belong to Scarlet he said I don't belong to anyone she said, if I do belong to anyone, it's not you brother my heart does not belong to you. My life doesn't belong to you.

I'd rather die than be belonging to you so, and if my heart and soul belong to anyone it belongs to Luther he's the only person who cares for me besides mother, Helena, and father Julius they're my family, not you the ones who care and love me they're the ones who care about me. They're the ones who love me, what have you done for me brother but torment me you're the one who caused me so much pain and suffering. No more I finally completely have my freedom from you you're not free for me not when you enter those quarantine zones I own these zones.

so technically, I owe you fear showed on Scarlett's face. Don't worry I will not let him he may be living in these quarantine sounds, but you're mine. I'll make sure he doesn't hurt. You think he can make a promise he can't keep soul said I know I can I said I will make sure of it, I'll get stronger and learn magic and what I do. I'll figure out a way to fight you. I gotta say I heard Scarlet ask yes absolutely you fight too. I want you to get stronger and not at her and she knows back both to destroy you, so you may be the prince, but you're a jerk, so turn mad I will that I will kill both of you. I heard him say.

I don't care if my father imported your family is the ambassador family for the humans I don't care what what what status you have I don't care what status you have or what you and what power are you wheeled. I am the prince of Alder and I will make sure you're miserable.

At the same for me, I said back I don't care what status you have. I don't care either. Well, I care about Scarlet's safety and I care about what you would want to do with her and I'm not letting you cause I said it once I've said it twice and now I have to say it a third time.

Mom and Dad held us both close that's enough so I heard Mom say why don't you leave us alone leave our family alone I won't be so sad. I will get what I want. I always do get what I want and what I need and I will get it.

fine soul said I will leave you alone, but I will come up with a strategy to kill you. No running this time running and hiding from all over Valencia to avoid me you'll be trapped in this little area trying to muff in a pen.

this one is not assigned to us yet, but I think this is the perfect one. I think you're right I heard Mom say it's a nice one you picked the best house out of all of the buildings I took Scarlet with me we went to the top of the roof, this made you feel taller I said I can't tell but it's nice wow why else did you bring me up here for the view of course also, I wanted to stare defiantly at the wall. I know this is where we're gonna be trapped for the rest of our lives.

I don't mind being trapped as long as I'm trapped with you. I don't wanna be anywhere else I heard her say let us go to the parapet we want to it and sit on it together. I wish I could see the view I mean all we see is the quarantine wall we can't see over it there's not much to see, you can see or I guess even though I can't see it if not much of a view. No no, it's not.

we can come up here a lot alone. This can be our secret place. She knows would be great. I would love to sneak up here and be alone, but our lives are about to change we're gonna be prisoners we've lost our freedom I know, but I will get our freedom back I promise Scarlet even more so now that you were a natural living in these zones, you could've left I could have, but I'd rather be with you I don't wanna be with soul I don't like him right but I like you, even though you don't know it yet, even though we're both still young for your age, you're very lies and smart, you know more things than I would've figured.

I looked across I didn't look I couldn't see, but standing across from us kind of on the sore eye tower was a young princess involved or looking down at us. I couldn't tell though really she even had her eyes on me. She was weird I was gonna jump off I'm guessing.

I looked down at the pocket watcher that I almost forgot I had, and it glowed blue briefly that giving me also hope the watch had never blown in a long time, wherever in my life almost forgot I even had it on me and it came to me one day in my hand cradle Aunt and gave me hope to call my name Luther are you OK? Not yet I'm let's go.

I decided to make this a mixed chapter. Yes, this was a Luther chapter, but I'm thinking of also making it a Riley chapter 2 so let's get let's get to Riley's point of view at least what we see what she was seeing through the eye.

Riley

I stood on the sober night as they watched through when it was broadcasting. It was a quarantine zone two people were standing on the porch of a building, and they were one wasn't looking, but the other was looking at me. He was smiling, so I thought he might be smiling at me, I was contemplating if I was gonna die or not at night to jump, my eyes were on him if he was gonna jump, I was gonna jump. I swear that day he was gonna become my friend and his little friend too. A girl with red hair stood next to him, these two will be my new best friends I thought.

watching him, made me decide not to jump off the sovereign in at all, even though I was thinking that the kingdom was better off without me for being an air, I mean it doesn't matter I wasn't gonna be the air anyway my evil awful adopted brother was going to become the new air, the new king of Volder I mean the mother is better off without me. Father is better off without me, and so is the kingdom I'm not gonna be in the air, so what's the point my life is miserable here. I don't want to live here anymore.

I thought to myself, I'm gonna meet this strange person who kept me safe even though I don't want to die I want to, but now I don't want to because now I want to live so I can meet him the stranger in the quarantine zones. It pains me that he has to be there and his friend, I will figure out a way to win their freedom and someway but since I won't become queen, there's no way.

I want to see and meet him and I will. I promise that I need to live so I can so I won't jump relief spread across my face that he wasn't there to jump either I bat down the stairs and back to the palace with newfound. Hope in my heart and love and respect.

Luther

girl, Arlet and I went back down the elevator. I think this will be the perfect building. Don't you think she knows I think so especially since you want to make yourself taller that's what you told me even though not making me any much taller and I can't still see over the wall, I know Mama, Helena, and Father Julius are calling for us and that's why we need to go back downstairs. We went back to ground level where they were our family's new family library would be it was filled with toes, all kinds of toes.

what do you think of this house? I heard Mom say I like it father said it's big enough for all of us. I think so. Also, I think it's a good size for the lab on the third on the third floor. I saw father not yes two labs why two our son is interested in science and he can do all kinds of things that I've seen him do oh yes, of course, two labs and the second floor, great for our living quarters three bedrooms four bedrooms I don't know exactly how many there's about four and our little staircase that goes into the living room. Green room area in our kitchen downstairs. Yes perfect I think this is the perfect building.

I heard Father say thanks for the keys but you'll never be able to leave these quarantine zones, but you can travel anywhere inside these zones, the portal will be in the center of the quarantine zones in the square and there are other places that you can go to to get supplies but there's also one more requirement. We know that your son likes to invent things he hasn't invented anything yet but we were hoping that he would make a profit we can't let you just live here for free you need to benefit us we give you these houses you benefit us. You can live in them for free if you like a lot of them will but most of you have opportunities to work and provide and benefit us.

we heard he has a great talent for solidifying liquid. I am if you can make us I am bricks to build a new palace for King Janice, and we want to see what other talents he has for inventing things right make sure that.

I heard everything the guard said Father didn't have to repeat any of it to me. Now we were ambassador children we had to set an example made it even worse now cause I would be forced to do things we didn't like.

We had one week to get settled and that's what we did. We spent a lot of time making the lab area our own and the living forwarders even let me keep model one because he was basic. Let me keep a basic model like model one, and they even gave me other things, laptops, and things that were basic tech we weren't allowed to have anything really that advanced advanced technology was wrong advanced technology was wrong. It was against the rules now and our books were taken. We weren't allowed to have them anymore but we had a library full of toes so we could read those.

so began my father's journey of being an ambassador and trying to navigate for us, and the other humans and the Vald Dorians to be a mouthpiece doesn't matter how much we did not like it we had to do with it this was our life now our life, and our time together here we have finally placed to settle, but it's not a place we would normally think we would settle, but we had to make the best of it.

I would hear Scarlet singing to herself. It helped her calm down and sleep. I don't even even ask her to sing for me. I never slept in my love yet, so I'd sleep in my new room. I'm all one was there too but I would hear her sing she would sing me to sleep, and then she would go sing herself to sleep down, the song was calming and soothing. I know we were both too old for lullabies, but it was something that made us feel better.

so begins, are life being quarantined life being locked up for the rest of our lives until I count the days we can earn our freedom. We can finally be free and run off and not live here anymore. The countdown begins how many days how many months will it take years don't know, I'll let you know as we're stuck here and the first thing I'm gonna do tomorrow is see the patrols of the guards to see their squads and check out the zones and see how many families are living here see who else made it Scarlet will come with me, of course, but tonight it's time to rest.
