Hikari
I felt it before the chaos happened. The waves of power envelop every world across the multiverse that those in the know would fear. While others would probably think it was of strange natural causes. Those in the higher realms would hear the sounds that came with it. The ghastly horrors and eldrich screams that seemed to carry with the wind. The calm heartbeat was the source of the resonating waves.
Looking up at the sky, I could see the massive tear forming as the influence of the Abyss started to affect the world. Buildings refiguring as parts broke off floating in the sky, defying gravity. Trees turned into unholy abominations that would devour any that got close, almost resembling flesh. People who were curious enough to get close to my army screamed in pain as the energy invaded their bodies. Changing them. Into unholy abominations as nothing filtered the power to their very core.
What the Abyss was doing to the world made what I did to the devils look like child's play. As if it knew what I did to them and was showing me that I was nothing compared to it. The thing that frightened me at the actions was that I could feel the will behind these changes it was neither my father nor Mavros. So, the only thing it could be was the Abyss itself.
It was taunting me. Trying to get me riled up to do something stupid like try and defeat it. Knowing that as a concept it was invincible, it would always remain.
"Hikari, what are we to do? Are we supposed to fly into the rift?" Michael asked, fear on his face.
"If you wish to die. No, we wait until my father arrives. He should be here..."
I went quiet as I saw the person... god... no entity descend from the portal next to him, an unconscious woman and a sword descended. I knew who this was, even if the appearance was different. The once red hair had changed to all black, only able to tell by the few strands showing beneath a hood. As the cape of the hood floated behind him. The right hand looks to be almost demonic as they shaped into shadowy talons. Their left hand slightly uncovered by golden arm bracers showed their pale skin. A mix of black leather and golden armor covered his chest and legs. Beneath the hood was a mask that showed the symbol for Ying and Yang.
"Father..." The word barely came out of my mouth, but the entity that had been looking over the soldiers turned toward me in an instant. As if he heard my words. That was nothing more than a whisper.
I gulped at his eerily calm demeanor. I met my father at the peak of his power, and how unhinged and uncaring he was for the world. However, he nearly always kept his power, which contained that I couldn't feel even an inkling of it. His control was so refined that when he released his power there was always a goal, a plan, a target. This entity didn't care about containing his power. He was letting everyone know his strength, his power, and what would happen if they came after him.
Looking down at my hands, I could feel myself shaking from fear. I've never felt my father like this, even in his final moments. He never released his power to this extent.
"Attack..." I said in a whisper. That only one could hear, my father. When no one moved, I clenched my fist and yelled with all my rage in my core. Even if it took everything I had, I would kill Father. "ATTACK! ATTACK HIM BEFORE HE KILLS US ALL!"
That seemed to light a fire in everyone as devils, fallen, and angels alike flew toward my father as he floated in the air. He didn't turn from me as the army approached him. I couldn't see his face behind his mask, but I could feel his stare. His stare of regret... his pity. He didn't have the right to feel that way. I won't allow it.
Raising my hand toward him, I focused my power on a beam of light that targeted only him to not erase my army. My power was concentrated in a bending light that accelerated toward him while avoiding my army. His body flickered into a black haze as the light surrounded him. My energy barely caused his aura to crack, but at least showing me that I had a chance.
Out of all my soldiers, Sirzechs was the fastest with my enhancements to him, so he was the first to reach my father. His aura of destruction envelops them both. While Sirzechs turned into pure energy and unbridled power. His only goal was to destroy my father. Nothing else was his concern. My father didn't act fazed even as his aura grew to counter the power of destruction. Normally, Sirzechs wouldn't be able to even hinder my father, but with my power added into the mix, anything could harm him.
It's my father's one weakness. The only things truly capable of harming him have to be connected to the Abyss, directly. Since my father created me to have similar strengths to him, I have met this qualification. With my boost to everyone here even if some attacks will feel like an annoying fly to him, even he can't drop his guard.
"Go. Join the fight. Eri stay here."
My father's peerage and Ophis all had stayed near me kneeling in my presence waiting for my orders. Not joining the fight since I told them originally they weren't supposed to until ordered directly. I had planned on them helping me after the army weakened my army, but after feeling his power I knew that would be pointless. He could erase them all at any moment. He is waiting for something... or thinking. I can't quite understand as I know he isn't hesitating anymore. I feel it in his energy.
Watching him raise his hand and stopping a volley of lances in the air and redirecting them back at the Fallen and Angels. Causing thousands to perish under their own attack. The slight movements of his body all had a purpose. No wasted movements in the battle as he skillfully weaved through attacks and blocked the few that would hit him. Using his body and magic power only, as if he didn't see this as worthy of bringing out a weapon.
Looking toward the passed-out woman and sword floating near her. I saw that both the weapon and woman were enveloped in his energy as if protecting them. Again this shows the difference between him and everyone else. As he was splitting his power in protecting others, while also overwhelming the army.
"You won't win. Daddy will stop you." Eri said, causing me to turn toward her. Seeing the calm in her eyes as she looked at the battlefield. She currently was in her child form since I saw no reason to expend any magic to age her up. Like she was in the RWBY world. She has no fighting experience, so it would provide no benefit. Plus, Father's guard would most likely drop more when she is a child. Allowing me an advantage. Even though I doubt anything like that will succeed again.
"Oh, you regained your mind. Did you rewind yourself to before my influence?" I asked, undisturbed at her freedom.
"Midnight saved me. Using our link he absorbed some of your energy allowing me some control. He is a good wolf."
"Your pet, the familiar father got you. Interesting maybe I should have turned them, would have been interesting seeing them writhe around in pain and what kinds of creatures they would have become." I said, trying to taunt Eri as she wrapped her arms around her knees and held them to herself.
"We wouldn't have been able to stop you if you had decided to." Eri, said watching as many devils exploded in the sky as their limps were separated from their bodies with an unforeseen force.
"You are acting strange for a child. Even by my standards. None of this scares you. Doesn't want to make you cry."
Eri, turned toward me her eyes showing a maturity in them for her young age.
"After what you did to me... I believe this is pale in comparison. Plus, with what Overhaul did by reconfiguring my body whenever my quirk activated. I'm... kind of used to seeing death and pain." Eri said, frowning as she relived her memories. "Our daddy wasn't that great in hiding his dark side to me either."
"Why do you call him 'daddy' anyways? He was just some boy who saved you and decided on a whim to adopt. The person in front of us is not him anymore. That is my father. The one that could cause the multiverse to shake by the mere mention of his name. The only thing stopping it was his mind manipulation that caused those to forget of him." I said, annoyed that this girl thought that she could be my sister.
"He was the first after my grandfather to care for me. Saw me as something more than a freak... a monster. I called him father originally because since he adopted me I felt obligated. Scared that if I didn't he would get... angry and get rid of me. I felt safe with him, so I didn't wish for this to happen. Eventually, I came to learn that Mavros, or Daddy, did truly care for me. As he was quick to form bonds with people he felt like he needed to help. Like a hero. My hero. So, I call him Daddy because I trust him. I know that he will save us and stop you. You will see that in the end he even loves you."
Clenching my fist at her words, I glared down into her eyes as she smiled at me.
"You know nothing little brat. He didn't care one inkling about me. My father and yours are different people. Mine saw me as an experiment, something to ease his boredom. Yours was quick to form bonds with even his enemies. So, don't call him 'ours' as if we are sisters. I'll never claim you as my kin."
Blinking slowly I saw her eyes being filled with tears as she turned away from me putting her head into her knees.
How could she not hate me? Why does she not want me dead? I tortured her and her friends... family. I pushed Mavros into speeding up his assimilation giving him no chance to win over my father. I ruined her life. Why does she care that I claim her as my sister, my kin?
A roar caused me to turn back to the battlefield. Ophis in her dragon form as she bit father. Her teeth went into his arm causing him to go still for a moment as he slowly rubbed her maw with his other hand as if soothing her. She violently shook around as if she was trying to tear his arm off, but not even causing him to budge. He didn't even budge as everyone else he cared for had attacked him. Ravel bathing him in the flames of the phoenix. Yang punched his ribcage. Ruby had impaled her scythe in his stomach. Blake had wrapped the cord of her weapon around his neck. Raven had impaled him with her katana into his heart. Asia was the only one not attacking him directly but healing anyone she could if they were harmed. She barely did anything since all his attacks would instantly kill any that attacked him.
His face was showing now as half his mask was missing as if it was erased. I could still see bits of Destruction magic still slowly corroding it. In the final attack, Sirzechs was able to land before I sent Mavros's family into the fight. My father used his demonic hand to physically rip apart the energy form of Sirzechs before they had reached him. I could see the remnants of his corpse lying in a crater on the ground as its presence started destroying where he lay.
His energy being the opposite of mine and being in full blast erased anything angel or fallen who got too close, so they were still trying to blast him with holy from afar. Their attacks are being redirected back or straight-up erased.
My father's eye had a pure black iris as if you were looking into an abyss. As if it was a doorway into the Abyss. The look in his eye showed sadness as if he was feeling guilty at the outcome.
Acting as if he wasn't injured he slowly started absorbing Ophis excess energy, which I tainted her with. Causing me to sigh at how useless she was. He wanted them all close so he could free them. My energy is being absorbed from them, each one of them slowly falling out of my control. I could feel my links with them breaking.
"My father wouldn't care about these pests. Mavros's will must have merged with him."
I heard Eri whisper, but I didn't care to comment to her relief. I needed to get involved before I lost my chance. He is injured from not fighting back, he could heal if I wait too long. Summoning the power I was lending away, I absorbed it back into me. The army has done its part. They weakened him as much as they could. Even if it was his feelings for his family that allowed me this advantage. As I did this everyone was finally free those remaining of the devils instantly fled as the angels and fallen did the same no longer caring about the consequences of going against my will. Michael and Gabriel gave the order as a beam of light came down from the Heavens taking the angels away.
Shooting toward Father with all my power, my light shined in the night sky pushing back the aura he released before our energies clashed. As it fought back. He looked toward me as his family was regaining their bearings. All of them slowly removed their weapons confused why they were attacking him and he wasn't fighting back. Ophis withdrew his arm from her mouth as she shapeshifted back into her child form. A look of confusion as she licked her lips at why she tasted blood.
They all were wrapped in his aura and forcefully moved away from him. Away from the battle. He was now using more power to protect others. Dropping his defenses even lower.
My energy formed into my hand following my will as it shifted into a sword. A sword of golden-white energy. Every bit of my power was housed in this one blade. This is the end before he has the chance to regain himself, I'll end him. He will regret not ending this when he had the chance.
Right before my sword pierced his flesh, the mask disappeared showing my father's complete face. His other eye had a red iris. Showing that Prime and Mavros finally merged into one being. Their thoughts and actions were one. The only thing still showing that they used to be separate was their eyes.
So, I knew when I saw a smile appear on his face and he outstretched his arms he never once sought to fight me. My sword went into the center of his chest going through his body. While I grew close enough for him to wrap his arms around me in an embrace. Instantly, I tried pushing him away but even in his weakened state, he had a stronger hold on me than I could escape. Forcing me into a hug that I didn't want.
"It's okay, I won't let you go this time." He said, holding me close to his chest as my blade of light disappeared only showing the wound that I inflicted. "Your anger and pain. I'll take it all. You forced me into this fight, but I never saw the whole picture."
I felt tears coming to my eyes as I heard his words, but I wouldn't let him get to me. I won't regret my actions. I won't allow him to forget what he did to me.
"Did you not remember I was your baby girl? How could you push me out of your world? Were you just too scared to admit you were flawed from the start? You had to break me instead. Make me think, I was a mistake. Some charity case maybe."
"You were not a mistake or charity case. Creating you was the one thing in my entire life... that I won't regret. I regret my actions after. Maybe I should have taken a different path. Maybe visit you... left you messages. Showed you I cared. I just felt that the risk was too high. In every future I saw you always lost against me."
"So, why did you make my life hell? Why destroy everything I care about?"
He stayed silent for a moment not answering. "That was a mistake. A flaw that I couldn't escape. Your presence in front of me sent the Abyss into a rage that I hadn't experienced in ages. It wanted to feed. So, I had to send you away with more force than I wanted."
"...You didn't mean to kill them. Kill the kids that I watched over."
"I did not. I always did find your actions performing your saintly duties... relaxing. Which was odd as I didn't care about seeing it done by anyone else-" A violent cough stopped his words as he forced his mouth into one of his hands. His arms came off of me as I leaned closer to him trying to feel his warmth.
"F-father..." I asked voice breaking as he separated from me. He kept coughing as he kneeled on the ground both his hands going to his chest wound. His hands separated as black energy seeped into his hands. He smiled sadly at his hands.
"You've grown strong. Being able to injure my spiritual form is not easy. You couldn't even manage that during our last battle."
"A-Are you dying?"
He laughed at my words. "Honestly, I don't know. This hasn't happened to me before. Plus, Mavros and my assimilation opened up more possibilities. As the Abyss doesn't care about eating you anymore. It still detests your existence, but allows it. Mavros's soul replaced the part I took from it."
"I'm sorry, all my anger and pain went to misguided blame. I should have just mourned their loss. Left you alone. Oh, Daddy, why couldn't I just leave you alone?" I said, collapsing to my knees with him.
"Daddy... I never thought you would call me that. It is a nice feeling."
Before we could say anything else, the others started showing up. Stopping our conversation. I turned away not wanting to look at them as they started talking.
"Mavros... did you win? Or are you Prime?" Ophis asked observing, Father as he sat on the ground a hand over the wound on his chest.
"No, I'm not Mavros, nor am I Prime now. If I had to say who am I more it would be Prime, however, that would not do my Mavros side justice. His will allowed him to have more sway than should have been possible." Father answered looking at her with a gentle smile.
"What does that mean? Do we mean anything to you, now? Now that you have regained your power." Raven asked, curious her arms crossed.
"Don't worry, Mavros's feelings for you all still are in me. I mean no harm for you all here."
"What about the witch who tortured us? Is she just going to escape punishment? Did the battle end without us even doing anything?" Yang asked, glaring at me. "If that was the case why did we even join you? You handled everything yourself."
"Yang, my daughter, did what she did because of my actions. If you want to hate anyone direct it toward me, but to answer your questions. No, she won't be unpunished." He said, causing me to glance at him. Slight anger at his words. "She will be forced to fix the damages she did. Restore the world to how it was before our presence. Of course, I'll handle the Abyss."
"That seems fair," I mumbled, knowing I'd have to fix a lot. Already thinking how I'm supposed to repair everything.
"Should I rewind you, Daddy?" Eri asked walking toward Father putting a hand on his arm. As he gently slid his hands into hers.
"No, this wound is too much for you to rewind. However, I do have my way of healing. I'm just hesitant to do it. As I won't wake up for a long time."
"What? If you don't heal will you die?" Ruby asked, using her semblance to appear on his other side placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Probably, as it is a spiritual wound. Damage to the soul is not easily healed."
"I just know it isn't time for me to do that." He said, looking around at everyone his eyes staying on Hikari and then drifting to the sleeping form of Elizabeth as she descended to the ground. "Hikari, I know it won't be easy for you to accept as you never were meant to have one, but out of the women I slept with as Prime... Elizabeth would be the closest thing you would have had to a mother."
He sighed as he turned toward Ophis who had a face of hurt at his words. "Ophis, I'm sorry if that hurts you, but remember I met you as Mavros. My feelings for you are different than hers."
"I'm sorry, but, I can't wait anymore. What happened to my family? Were they a part of your army, Miss Hikari?" Ravel asked, looking over the corpses of the devils.
"I don't believe so. I allowed the devils to bring me who they wanted. Many pillars stayed behind and the other Satan's went into hiding for a time. I just didn't see the point of going after them. As Sirzech's was the strongest and he was useless. They never were meant to defeat my father anyway, just to be used as fodder."
"Ravel, your family is alive. I can feel it. They haven't returned to the Abyss, yet." Father said, putting Ravel's worries to rest.
Looking up at the sky at the tear, Father's eyes started morphing into a black haze as something screeched in pain. As if wanting to fight the command. However, it could not disobey its host. It slowly started closing.
"The Abyss is leaving the worlds it has influenced. I won't be able to return things to normal. Like the trees, buildings, and animals. However, humans I can make some changes. They will soon grow accustomed to my energy allowing it to rest and revert their deformities. However, leaving behind a gift. New powers will awaken in them."
"So, like another Faunus situation. You will experiment on humans again to see what kind of powers they will gain." Blake said, a glare in her eyes.
"Incorrect, I'm giving them a chance to live. The Abyss when it takes hold of something it doesn't let go. If I were to force it all back death would follow, but if I morph it into something else they can live."
"Why do you care about fixing this? I thought you were more like Prime?" Raven asked, with a confused look.
"I don't care, that is the thing. I'm only doing this because it is Ravel's, Eri's, and Ophis's home world. The other world affected is Eri's home and Remnant. I do believe you all would like to go home at some point. I'm just making sure you have something to go back to."
"You're talking as if you aren't going to be there?" I asked, a look of hurt crossing my face. He couldn't be thinking of leaving me behind again.
"Are you leaving, Daddy?"
"I won't allow it. We have a child on the way. They need their father."
"You promised to help the Faunus."
"What about our children you sealed away, Prime? Did you lie about that to get me to betray Meliodas?"
Elizabeth woke up drawing everyone's attention. I looked at her eyes that showed the symbol of the Goddess Clan the glowing light of her Arc being them. Her holy energy. Her power. I had to admit, I felt a connection with her. Even more than I with these fake angels in this world.
"Elizabeth... I didn't lie about them. They are alive, sealed within a space outside of time. None even knew they were sealed." Father said, taking some of his essence in his hand and shaping it in his hand, to something resembling a key. As it floated toward her she held it carefully. "This will open the way to my shop. A place I kept outside of time. Also, the place I sealed them. Now, the only reason I was able to make this key is because I used my soul. Otherwise, I would still have to kill Great Red, but right now, is not the time. My physical form is fading."
Raising his left hand it shifted from almost see-through to solid.
"I'm proud of you, Hikari. You've grown strong. However, seeing how my time is almost up. I will appease all of your worries. I won't disappear forever. I'll just sleep while the Abyss heals me." He sighed, turning toward Eri as she had tears going down her eyes. He wrapped an arm around her as she held him close.
"Blake, I helped the Faunus before I left Remnant. I cast a curse on the world. If the Faunus are discriminated against the humans will suffer."
"Ophis, I wish that this outcome could have been different, but I needed a way to stop Hikari. Show her the truth about my mistake. I needed to take this blow or she would have fought back and I would have hurt her or worse killed her."
That's why he didn't attack me right away. He wasn't just flaunting his difference in strength it was to show me he was weakening.
"Asia, Ravel, I hope these changes to your world will make it better. I don't know what will happen as of now. Still haven't regained my future sight. I just ask please make sure that Eri is taken care of. I want her to have a normal life. Allow her to have a childhood. Even if she has seen more than kids her age should."
"Are you forcing all of us apart? Think we are going to abandon them since you aren't here. That doesn't sound much like a family." Yang said, a glare in her eyes. "I'm not letting you separate us. I accepted to be a part of your family, so don't think you can force us apart."
Everyone agreed with her words as I stayed silent glancing toward Elizabeth. Who gave me a warm smile that calmed my nerves.
"That isn't my attention. I just know your home worlds are different. At times you all will not be together. However, I was hoping Eri would stay with Asia and Ravel. Ravel having the means to take care of them."
"They are like my sisters... Mavros, I won't leave them behind." Ravel said, unsure what to call me.
"I'm glad." He looked toward his hand seeing now that it was completely gone. "Elizabeth, I want to tell you. My words to you remain. Even if my Mavros side detests the action, my Prime side won't let you go. You are mine. No one else is to touch you."
"Yes, Prime. I'm yours."
"Daddy..." I said, unsure of my words. He looked at me and I felt the warmth in his eyes. "How long until I can see you again? Anything I can do to help you wake up sooner? Do you need my power to heal?"
"No, I mean it. Don't try and use your energy to heal me. If the Abyss tastes your energy directly from you, it would probably go on a frenzy again."
"Okay, I won't use my energy to heal you, but I'll take care of Great Red for you. That should speed up the process." I said, determination in my words. I want to have a life with my father, I finally get the chance this time. If time is all I need... so be it.
"That would probably help, and he won't be hard to find. Very well, if you would like to kill him go ahead. It would allow Ophis her silence when she wants it."
"I don't want my silence anymore. I just want you." Ophis said, her normally emotionless eyes showing a sadness I wasn't used to.
Forcing himself to his feet, my father stepped toward Ophis as his foot vanished causing him to stumble. Ophis stepped forward growing into her Adult form to make it easier to hold him up. Aa he looked at her lovingly. Not wanting to let her go.
"I guess, using the Abyss sped up my hibernation." His hand that hadn't disappeared brushed along the side of her face, as he tucked her hair behind her ear. Father leaned into her his lips brushing against hers. "Even if I won't be here. I will always be yours. I just wish that I didn't have to miss our child growing up."
"I'll make sure they understand. That you didn't want to leave. We will be here, waiting for your return."
One last kiss was all Father was able to get off this one with more passion in it before his body vanished completely. His essence floated into the sky as it went toward the rift that stayed open enough to allow its master back.
All of us stared at the sky as the rift closed all of us thinking the same thing at the time. He may be gone for now, but he will return and we will be here... waiting. So, we can be a family again.
A/n:
Finally, the story is complete... this took way too long to come to a close. I could have had it done sooner, but at times I just didn't want to write or had other story ideas in my mind. I'm just happy, I can finally say this story is finished. Is this my original idea for the ending? Not a chance. Do I like it? Yeah, It just kind of felt as if the plot demanded it.
I still plan on writing one last chapter in the BNHA world. Just not certain when it will come. I hope I can get it out before the New Year, I'm just not going to promise anything.
Anyways, what did you all think about the story? Did you enjoy it or did my early insistence on nerfing the character ruin the appeal? What would you all have liked to see? Did Prime interest you all? Like did he make you go, 'Wow, I've seen evil, but this guy is just a nightmare.'
I would love some feedback.
Question for everyone. Would you all like to see Mavros/Prime appear in the final Omake? I'm kind of on the fence. It will be him after waking from his sleep which will be explained as time being different between dimensions. Or I could just write the story with Bakugo and Izuku. What would you all like to see?
