Hi! So-in Exile, Sophie and Dex get kidnapped. It's all in Sophie's perspective, as is all of the books. But what about Keefe's perspective?

The sand parted for my feet as I trudged ever so slowly. I stood at the foot of Havenfield Cave, waiting for the right moment to enter.

I needed to talk to Sophie. As much as she probably didn't notice me, I needed to talk to her. Something had changed over the past few weeks being friends with her and I didn't exactly know what it was. Sophie would probably know, even though I'm the empath. She'll probably make fun of me for that. It should be the other way around.

I tapped my foot, an anxious habit I had acquired, stalling. She was most likely with Dex or something and I didn't want to interrupt anything. What? We can all see how he looks at her. She's really oblivious.

I scanned my surroundings. The waves silently crashed up against the already eroded rocks and wet sand. The sun was setting, casting a yellow-ish glow all around. The birds had stopped singing and everything was eerily silent.

Something in the water caught my attention. The sun glinted off a stone in the water. I bent down, my hand breaking the fragile surface of the water. My fingers closed around a smooth, round stone. I pulled it out from the freezing cold water and spread it across my palm. My finger traced down the thin nylon cord to meet a severed end that was not a clean cut. A deep purple stone was set in the center.

A registry pendant.

In fact, there was another one attached. It instead had a blue stone set in the center. I turned the blue stoned one around. There was "DD" carved in back. DD… DD… Dex. Why was Dex's registry pendant out here? I looked down at the other. And whose was this?

I closed my eyes, trying to remember. My mind came up with a memory of stark white walls and a burn. The healing center.

I ripped my eyes open.

Sophie.

Sorry it's so short! But another chapter will be coming and will hopefully be longer!
