Prelude

In a dark, concealed room. The jujutsu higher-ups came together after they all felt an extreme surge of curse energy in the Tokyo prefecture. All the faculty of Tokyo Jujutsu High and Kyoto Jujutsu High were called to the meeting to discuss the precise location and what was causing the event. Eventually, they concluded there was the presence of an unknown entity with the capacity to use cursed energy, which drew cursed spirits to the individual's location. After much deliberating over the response, the higher-ups sent Satoru Gojo to exorcize the surrounding spirits and retrieve the source of this energy to see if they could move in favor of Jujutsu Society.

Chapter 1

'It's happened again…' thought a rather odd boy waking in a lush forest. The boy observed his surroundings before dusting himself off. 'This has to be the longest string of jumps. This one is the tenth,' the boy thought, surveying his hands and clothing. 'Now,' the boy continued, 'Let's see if I have an identification card.' After rummaging through his pockets, he found a faded card in a wallet in a zipped pocket on his right hip. 'Huh…' the boy thought, 'It's an individual number card. Meaning I'm in modern Japan post-2016.' The boy observed the card closely, grimacing as he saw the information. The boy reflected, 'No matter how many dimensions these forces compel me to traverse, there are always two constant factors… There is no need to think of the first yet. But the second is needed. That being my name…, No matter where I go, in every dimension the forces drag me to, it is always the same words. Josefu Hanto, my birth name.' On the card, Josefu only memorized his current age, sex, and address as his birthday, and the individual number on the card was meaningless to him.

Josefu muttered to himself, "Ok. Age: 15. Sex: Male. Address: I have written it into my mind." Josefu rambled, "Well… even if I'm not an adult, I can take things more maturely without freaking people out. At least I'm not a female this time… Not that I have anything against females, but having grown up as a man, it's nothing but jarring to be the opposite sex…" After putting the individual number card back in the wallet and checking its contents for money and items, Josefu scrounged the rest of his pockets, where he found a pair of unnatural sunglasses that covered his eyes completely and could latch onto his ears to prevent them from falling off or revealing his eyes. "Odd. It's not every jump when I have a unique item. Takes me back to the time I was a detective with an odd eyepiece that let me see space within space…" Josefu mused, taking another look at his surroundings. Josefu ran a hand through his curly, messy brown hair, stressing over the feeling of something watching him.

Before long, Josefu noticed a strange creature moving around the area and ducked behind a tree, utterly shocked. The creature had numerous eyes and limbs that jutted around unnaturally. No matter how anyone described it, Josefu knew this thing wanted nothing more than to satiate whatever desires it held. It had no morals, and there was no reasoning with it. 'It's a cursed spirit…' Josefu mused in his mind, 'Between that odd pair of sunglasses and this thing, there's only one dimension I could be… Jujutsu Kaisen. Thank God I followed the manga while I was back home, or I'd be toast!' Josefu immediately put on the sunglasses and locked it in place. "Wow…" Josefu stated with wonder, "These aren't simple sunglasses… it's a special one-way glass with darker tones. These glasses are perfect for my eyesight! Especially since wearing these will lower the aggression of any curses around me."

'For goodness sake…' Josefu pondered in his head, 'The fact I can even see these cursed spirits means I can use cursed energy. Furthermore, it means I must acknowledge the other consistency of these dimensional jumps. Whenever I have powers in a dimension, it connects to fire, ice, or lighting. Or, if there is a lack of need for these elements, these abilities tend to drift to time or space manipulation.' Even for someone experienced in dimensional travel, Josefu found this consistency odd and creepy. Josefu looked back to the cursed spirit and saw it was eying and searching the spot he was in previously. Josefu wasn't sure why, but this cursed spirit was hunting him. Yet, after reflecting upon his cursed energy, Josefu found a binding vow within his soul, something of an unbreakable deal that demands the individuals under the vow meet the conditions in return for a different condition in Jujutsu Kaisen. Using the internal memory of his current body, Josefu determines that the binding vow forces him to activate his curse techniques only through using his intuition to determine the timing or by relying on his survival instincts over using conscious control. In return, Josefu gains total mastery and control over his curse energy, down to the last scrap of energy.

This reality means Josefu can control amounts of curse energy so minuscule that most beings who can use curse energy wouldn't detect it. In addition to this control, any reinforcement Josefu made to his body with curse energy amplifies all physical capabilities of his body by about 300 times that of peak human condition, which is modified based on how much curse energy Josefu uses to reinforce his body with only the sparsest amounts of energy producing peak human condition.

Josefu reached out with the curse energy, forming strings of energy so thin that the curse spirit barely registered it. Yet, using the thin stretches of cursed energy, Josefu detected the movements of the cursed spirit and maneuvered away from its clutches, heading to the outskirts of the forest. Before long, Josefu felt an odd pressure from behind him and began to move quickly as the force approached Josefu rapidly in response to his new pace. Suddenly, Josefu saw Satoru Gojo in the crowd, smirking in his direction. 'Oh no…' Josefu thought, 'Not Gojo! He must never realize I have cursed energy. If that happens, there's no telling how badly the story will break.' Josefu looked past Gojo, keeping his cursed energy under control to ensure Gojo didn't suspect anything. Meanwhile, Gojo sped toward the cursed spirit, leaving Josefu amongst the crowd. Josefu sprinted to an alleyway, avoiding Gojo's stride.

"Thank goodness…" Josefu started. "Yo! What are you doing here?" Josefu turned to see Gojo and realized that while they were moving, no one else was. Josefu had accidentally used his cursed energy to escape Gojo, getting his attention after he killed the cursed spirit. "Hmm… How to gauge your abilities…" Gojo wondered aloud as he slowly approached Josefu. Josefu was backing away, wondering how he would escape.
