As Beca was about to explain that she didn't know why Chloe wasn't talking to her parents anymore, the double doors behind her flew open to reveal a man in a white coat who still wore a cap on his surgeon was dark-haired with green eyes, with a rather athletic looked like it came straight out of a TV series.
"Hello, are you close to Chloe Beale?" He asked. "Yes!" Aubrey cried out, rushing in front of him. All the girls got up and surrounded the doctor so as not to miss a single bit of the information he was about to give them.
The doctor backed away from all these pairs of inquisitive eyes.
"I'm Doctor Vitto. Are you family?"
"Uh..." Aubrey looked at her friends.
They looked back at him either with pleading eyes or sad looks.
"Her parents will arrive shortly. But..." Aubrey began. "Please, she lives with us, we are her closest friends."
"We just want to know." Stacie begged.
"All right. I can't tell you everything. But the operation went well. One of her lungs was punctured by a broken rib, which could have been fatal, but we managed to stop the damage. My colleague, Doctor Jones, took care of her leg. Her femur was fractured, and ligaments were torn from the impact. Doctor Jones managed to put everything back together."
"Oh, thank you Doctor, thank you very much!" Aubrey said.
"That's not all. With the impact, your friend's head hit her steering wheel, and this caused trauma to the front of her skull. At the moment, we cannot say with certainty what repercussions this will cause."
Stacie, who was studying medicine, immediately understood what he meant. "She'll wake up, right? She said, trembling. "Unfortunately, we cannot be sure." the doctor replied clearly, lowering his eyes. Beca put her head in her hands.
It was a nightmare. This day was horrible. She wanted to go home, hide under her duvet, and forget.
"I'm sorry. That's all I can tell you. I will inform her parents of the rest and you can see her as soon as she is in her room, number 311. I warn you, the chest tube is quite impressive" The doctor said as he moved forward to leave.
"Because there's worse?" Beca asked. "No, not worse. Just a few points that we noticed during the intervention and that we would like to clarify with Miss Beale's parents. I have given you almost all the information I have in my possession. Good evening, ladies."
The surgeon left without looking was probably in a hurry to get away from the ten or so girls who were trying to pull worms out of him, Beca had told them everything so why wait for Chloe's parents?Regardless, all Beca wanted was to be able to see Chloe and make sure she was okay from now rushed towards the reception, but it was without counting on Aubrey who grabbed her by the arm.
"Where do you think you're going like that?" She asked, annoyed.
"I was going to ask where Chloe's room is to go see her."
"Don't you think you've done enough?
Chloe wouldn't be here if she didn't have to chase you all over town!" Beca felt the blow. She expected these reproaches anyway. She remained silent, patiently waiting for the other blow to land. The other girls surrounded them now but let the discussion unfold as if they were watching a movie.
"It's always like this with you two. Beating around the bush. When are you going to grow up, Beca? I'm tired of always having to comfort Chloe because you can't be clear about your feelings.
"I don't need your lessons, Aubrey. You don't know what's going on in my life right now."
"Well, tell us, go ahead! That's all we're asking ! And at the same time, maybe it will help us to know why you are such a coward when it comes to facing problems!"
This last remark echoed off the hospital heard all her friends holding their breaths in looked up with narrowed eyes at did she think she was for giving lessons like that?Last year, she had chosen not to face Aubrey anymore, as a promise to now Aubrey had gone too far.
'You know what, Aubrey? Maybe it's time someone tell you to shut your big mouth because you talk a little too much for someone who hasn't even been in our lives since July. It's my fault Chloe was in that car. But I'm here and I'm not ready to leave. Do you think you can teach me lessons? Are you interested in knowing what I'm going through? Let me laugh. The only thing you care about is seeing me fail to finally tell Chloe you were right. In fact, the only thing you've never digested is that Chloe is more interested in me than you. But you know what? I'm going to stay here and even more than that, I'm going to do better than you. I've already done better than you. Accept it, Aubrey, I'm better and Chloe knows it. That's what really disgusts you. That's what makes you angry. It's a shame, that's really not what Chloe wants us to become. Maybe it's not me who needs to grow up after all."
Beca finishes her tirade only inches away from the blonde's face.
Everyone looked at her speechless. Aubrey looked sick. The brunette took a breath and leaned down to whisper in Aubrey's ear:
"Rather frank for someone as coward as you think, huh ?"
Then she walked away, informing them she was going to reception to find Chloe's room.
Stacie replayed the argument she had witnessed over and over were all waiting for permission from the doctors outside Chloe's did they get there?Chloe was hurt;Aubrey remained prostrate in a corner without saying a word to anyone, as if traumatized;Beca was switching between her caffeine-filled paper cups and her phone, which she walked away with when it rang;and the others wondered how to wondered that didn't know what to , when these kinds of arguments broke out, Chloe was the only one who knew how to put the pieces back was truly the glue that held them all together.
Beca's phone rang again, and Stacie watched her walk away.
She couldn't hear what was being said on the phone, but she could tell that Beca was pretty nervous. Stacie really wondered if Beca would ever tell them everything that was going on in her head. She saw her come back and, with astonishment, sit down next to her. The little brunette folded her legs against herself and exhaled. Beca stared at the wall in front of her but Stacie didn't take her eyes off her. After a short minute, she felt Beca lean towards her.
"I went a little hard, didn't I?" She whispered in Stacie's ear, pointing to the seat opposite.
Stacie turned her head to look at the indicated point and saw Aubrey curled up on herself, staring into space and looking completely absent.
She wanted to comfort her friend, but she didn't want to take sides. The whole team had quickly learned that it was better not to choose sides when it came to Beca and Aubrey.
"I think you both have your faults in this discussion."
Stacie was quite proud of her answer.
Beca looked at her for a moment and smiled slightly. She knew very well that none of her friends would come between her and Aubrey. They had learned their lesson the hard way the previous year.
"Who was that on the phone?"
Stacie asked. Beca didn't expect this question and stood speechless with her mouth open.
"You don't have to tell me, if you don't want to" Stacie rushed, as if afraid of annoying Beca again and making her run away. Beca realized that her friends were always walking on eggshells when they talked to her.
And she didn't like this feeling. She didn't like instilling this fear in her friends.
"No, I... It was my father. Then Rachel, and then my mother. They all gave each other the word, it seems."
"I see... Any news from Quinn?"
"Yes, she and Rachel are safely back home. Quinn needs to rest. Rachel told me that she would definitely come by tomorrow morning to see us." Stacie nodded, looking thoughtful.
Beca's words to Aubrey bothered her.
Until now, they had resonated without taking on meaning. Now she knew why they were bothering her. She wanted to be there for Beca.
"You know, Beca, it's not just Chloe who is interested in you here. We're all worried about whether you're okay or not."
"Yes I know. It's just easier to trust Chloe." The two girls remained silent for a while, thinking. Beca finally wondered why it had always been easier with Chloe. Stacie, for her part, thought about Beca's words and understood that her friend held herself responsible for Chloe's accident.
"It's not your fault" Stacie said quite loudly. The girls had heard her and eyes were now on them.
Beca felt watched; she didn't like it. She looked at her friends and a few of them nodded in agreement. It didn't matter, she didn't think the same thing.
"Of course, it is. If we hadn't fought, she wouldn't have gone to see Rachel. If only I had talked to her instead of yelling at her..." Beca had whispered her last sentence. Despite everything that happened to them, she knew now that she would tell Chloe the truth as soon as she had the chance.
"We could have all prevented this, if we want to think like that. We all knew she was feeling bad for a few days but as usual, no one dares to say anything when it comes to the two of you. We always leave you to deal with your problems among yourselves in the hope that your blinders will fall but that is never the case."
Beca was going to ask Cynthia what she meant by that but a nurse informed them that Chloe was in her room and they could see her but not all at once.
"It would be best if you enter in groups of two or three maximum. Don't touch anything. Don't forget, visiting hours end at 10 p.m." The nurse finished. Beca saw Aubrey looking at her watch.
"It's nine-thirty. If we organize ourselves, we can all see her for ten minutes. Beca nodded at her and organized her troops.
"Ok, girls, Aubrey and Stacie will go in first. Next, Amy and Cynthia, Jessica and Ashley, Flo and Lily and then I'll go last if that's okay?" She had finished her sentence with the intonation of a question to give her friends the choice to protest but they all seemed to agree with the order of passage. Stacie held out her hand to Aubrey and she mouthed a thank you to Beca as she walked past her into the room. Beca returned to her seat and waited patiently. She would see Chloe soon.
Lucy's face beamed with happiness when she looked at Beca.
The brunette covered her little round cheeks with kisses.
Her skin was so soft. Beca woke with a start to Amy's face ten centimeters from hers, her turquoise eyes probing her.
"It's your turn, we've all seen her" The Australian told her.
"Okay," Beca said, clearing her throat. "You were smiling. What were you thinking about?"
"Um, nothing" Beca replied vaguely, rushing towards the bedroom door to escape the conversation as quickly as possible. Her friends saw her enter and close the door gently.
"We should have warned her" Amy said.
"Warn her about what?" Stacie asked confused.
"That she couldn't kiss Chloe."
"Nonsense, Amy!" Aubrey protested.
Inside, Beca stood still for a few seconds. She only had to take one step and she would pass the wall that cut off her field of vision. One step and she would see Chloe. Beca was suddenly afraid of what she would find. What if she didn't recognize her? Beca shook her head at her stupidity and finally moved forward.
She found Chloe on the bed, her eyes closed.
The sheets were pulled down to her hips and a bandage could be seen wrapped around her chest. A tube came out of her mouth and connected her to a machine. Another came out of her chest, under her arm, and drained viscous fluids into a machine that collected it all.
Beca had tears in her eyes as she looked at everything connected to Chloe.
She walked over and put her hand on what she thought was her friend's leg. She encountered a very solid surface and realized that it was the cast hidden by the blankets.
"I'm so sorry, Chlo..." She breathed before collapsing on the seat provided for visitors. The tears fell unceremoniously.
Beca didn't cry often, but over the past few days, she had accumulated so much worry and guilt that she couldn't hold back. She had already cried her way through the year, for sure. She kept repeating in her head how pathetic she was. If only she had known how to open up to Chloe, the redhead wouldn't be here, bruises and cuts all over her face.
"I promise to tell you everything, Chlo but you have to promise me to wake up. I can't do it without you..."
Beca heard the door open but didn't look away to see who was felt a hand on her shoulder, with thin, calm recognized the scent despite the short time they spent together.
"I thought you might need some company."
"That's so nice of you," Beca said bitterly. The brunette heard a sigh and felt the hand leave her shoulder.
She regretted her words immediately. It was neither the place nor the time and Chloe had better things to do than listen to her two best friends fight.
"Listen, Beca, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have spoken to you like I did and even less in front of everyone."
"As if that would change anything. You meant what you said, Aubrey." The blonde looked down and shook her head. She walked around the bed to stand in front of Beca.
"No, frankly, no. It's not your fault. It was an accident. But you're right, I've always been jealous of your relationship with Chloe. I was always afraid of losing her..." Beca remained silent at her friend's words. She understood very well what Aubrey was feeling, actually. She knew how much Chloe's friendship made her better, how much it needed to be preserved. She also knew that she had been terrible as a friend lately. With all her friends, not just Chloe.
"I'm sorry too for everything I said to was unfair of me and it's definitely not the time for that" Beca two young women looked at each knew how important the other was to Chloe so they shared this mutual smiled and walked stopped in front of Beca and held out her arms.
"We didn't say hello properly, I think." Beca rolled her eyes but smiled and stood up.
She held out a hand to her.
"The day I'll hug you hasn't arrived." They shook hands and turned towards the bed together.
The calm was interrupted by the incessant beeping of the machines surrounding Chloe. Beca thought her friend had regained a little color since earlier but maybe she was wrong.
"We have to go...", Aubrey informed her. Beca sighed in agreement, and they walked out.
The entire Bellas team was waiting for them with a nurse holding a clipboard and pen.
"Ah, you're finally here. Someone can stay overnight, if you wish. We were waiting for you to find out who would stay" Cynthia explained to them.
"I'm staying" Beca and Aubrey said at the same time. The two women looked at each other in surprise.
The nurse cleared her throat impatiently. A decision had to be made.
"You should stay," Aubrey said, placing her hand on Beca's shoulder again. The gesture did not escape to their friends and it gave a little hope to the team who did not like to see their captains tear each other apart.
Beca turned to Aubrey, uncertain.
"Are you sure ?"
"Yes, you are the one she will want to see first."
Beca wasn't sure about that, especially knowing the circumstances under which she left Chloe the last time they talked but she didn't contradict nurse asked her to sign the register and informed her that an extra bed would be placed in the room for girls hugged her Aubrey was entitled to her hug, not without refraining from pointing out to Beca that she had finally gotten her hug.
"We'll bring you some things tomorrow, if you want" Stacie said.
"No, I'll go back home and take a shower, anyway. Don't worry."
Beca watched as her friends cleared the hallway before returning to Chloe's room.
She was surprised to be able to spend the night with her since Chloe was in intensive care and had to remain under constant surveillance. She was happy about it nonetheless. If Chloe woke up in the night, she would be the first to know.
The night was short for the nurses coming every two hours, her phone constantly turning on and her fears preventing her from sleeping, Beca had spent the night tossing and turning on her spare which was anything but little sleep she had fallen into from fatigue had been punctuated by nightmares of Chloe's she ended up pacing up and down the room thinking about everything she had to say to Chloe and her friends.
The Bellas had obviously not slept much either since the group conversation had been going on for a good part of the night.
Stacie had shared her fears of seeing Chloe forever changed after the accident. Amy had expressed the wish that she had told Chloe more often what a good friend she was. This was followed by stories of memories that each had experienced with Chloe. Beca had followed the conversation without participating but her friends had inevitably seen her little avatar online. She didn't want to add more and preferred to read about the good times they had experienced with Chloe. At least it gave her happy images to hold on to.
After the nurses' morning visit, around six in the morning, Beca decided to warn the girls that there was nothing new on her side, but that it wasn't necessarily a bad thing.
Chloe was still unconscious but stable. She reminded them that the visits started at ten o'clock and tried to go back to sleep, lulled by the beeps of the devices. It was Jessica who woke her up around eleven o'clock with infinite gentleness. When Beca opened her eyes, she saw Chloe's parents directly. She sat on the edge of the bed and stretched roughly then stood up to greet the couple she had never met.
"So you're Beca?" Chloe's mother asked pretentiously.
"Yes, it's me" Beca replied a little confused, holding out her hand.
"So you're the one who corrupted my daughter?"
Beca stood with her hand outstretched, taken aback by the accusations.
She was seeing this woman for the first time and Chloe never talked about her parents, so she didn't really understand what Mrs. Beale was accusing her of.
The brunette instinctively crossed her arms.
It was clear that she was not welcome in this room so she decided to leave.
"I'm sorry. I'm leaving right away. Aubrey, you'll keep me informed."
"No, wait, Beca!" Aubrey hurriedly followed her out of the room.
She didn't want Beca to feel rejected for the umpteenth time when she had a rightful place with Chloe.
"Beca, wait for me!" The blonde managed to catch up with Beca and grabbed her arm.
They faced each other and Beca's face expressed nothing but incomprehension.
"You can stay. Chloe would like you to stay."
"How can you know that? Her parents think just the opposite!" You could feel Beca's annoyance and fragility in her tone. The lack of sleep didn't help the situation. Aubrey walked over to hold out her hand.
"Trust me, for once. Please."
"But, Aubrey, they accuse me of corrupting Chloe.
I don't even know what that means!"
Aubrey smiled at Beca's naivety.
It was kind of funny how Chloe and Beca were still the same. Still so blinded.
"And why are you smiling? That's it, you're going crazy too."
At this assumption, Aubrey looked up at Beca with laughing eyes.
"I am not crazy. I can't speak for Chloe about her parents and why she doesn't talk to them anymore, but I know what they're accusing you of is false. You just have to trust me, Beca."
She held out her hand to her again.
Beca huffed but took it. They followed the path to the room. Beca hesitated for a moment at the door.
"They want to tear me to pieces in there" She said to Aubrey who was waiting for her, her hand on the handle.
"Since when does that scare you?" She asked rhetorically with a mocking smile. Aubrey finally opened the door and the two finally entered the room.
Chloe's parents looked at Beca standing among her friends but said nothing.
The doctor was already there and was explaining to them what he had already told the girls the day before.
"Your daughter is now out of trouble and stable. She will have a long rehabilitation journey for her leg but nothing insurmountable."
"Perfect, thank you doctor."
Beca watched the couple from afar.
Chloe had inherited her mother's hair, without hesitation, but her piercing eyes came from her father. The man wore a completely white crew cut and already looked old. Beca's father was already entering his fiftieth year and she hadn't imagined Chloe's father being older than hers. He was square-shouldered and dressed very traditionally in a two-piece suit and tie. If Beca didn't know he'd taken a late-night flight, she'd think he'd just come from a stock meeting.
Mrs. Beale had red hair, probably colored artificially, and stood proudly at her husband's was the perfect model of a woman who controls her household from floor to wore an emerald green suit that highlighted her hair and wondered how such a strict couple could have created someone as cheerful as redhead was the embodiment of joyfulness and seemed implausible to Beca that her parents weren't some sort of hippie completely in tune with it turns out, stereotypes were also noticed that unlike her friends, neither of them had approached , Beca found them rather calm for parents who saw their daughter connected to machines on all thoughts pissed her deserved better than , she kept her thoughts to herself by clenching her was not time for scandals.
"I also wanted to address something we observed during the intervention." The doctor paused to look at each person in the room as if addressing everyone.
"Your daughter had pieces of glass present in her abdomen so we had to open and remove everything. It went without problem. However, we noticed that she only had one kidney so I would like to ask you for confirmation for her medical record. Did Chloe donate one of her kidneys?"
The Beales looked at each other then the mother nodded.
"Yes, Chloe donated a kidney to her brother when they were twelve years old but he didn't handle the transplant."
"All right. I'm sorry to hear that, Mr. and Mrs. Beale. Thanks to the blood test, we were able to identify deficiencies. Do you know when your daughter stopped taking her medication and why?"
Chloe's parents looked at each other with wide eyes then shook their heads, negative.
"All right, we'll sort this out. Thank you for the information. I will refer her to the nursing teams so that her meds are always appropriate." The doctor left the room. Chloe's parents followed without asking for their rest.
A heavy silence fell over the girls surrounding Chloe's hospital bed.
Everyone was starting to realize that they ultimately didn't know Chloe like they thought they did.
Rachel and Quinn had been back for an hour and the television was on the news channel reporting the accident. Quinn thought back to her talk with Beca and everything that had happened to them since. She still had coughing fits but nothing alarming. Lying on the couch, she was aware of Rachel walking past her but she wasn't listening to what she was saying. Quinn knew how worried Rachel was. After the car accident she had in high school that damaged her lungs, Quinn had to monitor her condition for the slightest cold because a simple respiratory illness could cause a lot of problems. So Rachel, who knew very well the complications incurred after smoke inhalation, worried and relived those times when she saw Quinn in a wheelchair, with an inhaler in her mouth every hour. The blonde had learned to ignore her companion's concerns.
Already in high school, at the slightest worry, Rachel would go into incomprehensible speeches where all the catastrophic scenarios followed one another.
In Rachel's little world, Quinn was in agony. Ready to die. On her deathbed. She saw herself burying her. Rachel was like that, passionate and extreme.
"You realize ! Twenty-five kilometers of traffic jams! For an asshole who didn't know how to brake at a red light!"
It was the fourth time she had said it.
Hearing the insult coming from the mouth of the most talkative and distinguished person she knew, Quinn decided it was time to put an end to the frenzy of the little brown tornado that was roaming her living room. She sat on the edge of the sofa and grabbed Rachel as she passed to take her on her lap and hold her against her. The brunette laughed lightly and circled her arms around her partner. They looked at each other, admired each other. They had almost been separated today.
"I almost lost you" Rachel whispered.
"I know."
"Again."
Quinn closed her eyes.
She had accepted her overdose and her addictions, but she still didn't like talking about it with Rachel. Not directly. She liked to preserve the image she had of what Rachel might think of her.
"I'm almost tempted to take away your car keys" The brunette said, caressing Quinn's face.
"And you plan to lock me up in the basement after that?" The blonde laughed.
"We don't have a basement. But if that's what it takes for you to never leave me, I'm ready to lock you up in the bathroom" Rachel confirmed with all her teeth.
"Yes, but you see, there is a flaw there." Rachel looked at her, surprised but perplexed.
She tilted her head to the side.
"If you lock me in the bathroom, there will inevitably be a moment when you will have to undress in front of me to wash yourself." Quinn explained with a smirk and eyes that undressed Rachel. The brunette laughed out loud then put her mouth on Quinn's ear.
"Who tells you that this wasn't my plan all along?" She whispered before taking the earlobe between her teeth.
The two women spent the rest of the evening loving each other without shame.
The fear of losing your loved one was felt in every kiss, in every caress. Love intensified in each ecstasy. They were young and alive. No one could take that away from them. Not now. Not today.
"Rach'?"
"Hmm."
"If I tell you what Beca told me, you will not tell her that you know?"
Rachel turned around in bed to face her girlfriend, leaning on her was staring at the ceiling, her arms behind her head and the sheets bunched around her could see the curves of her breasts and the outline of her abs but the shadow created by the bedside lamp prevented her from making out the remained beautiful in all circumstances, but nothing matched this moment where she was free and naked in all her never tired of being the only one able to admire her in that light.
"Rachel!" The brunette came out of her reverie and now opened large brown eyes on the angelic face that she loved so much.
"Sorry, you said?" Quinn rolled her eyes and slipped into Rachel's arms to place her ear against her heart.
Rachel smiled at the gesture and tightened her embrace.
"Beca is in trouble. I would like to help her but I don't know how and I don't know if I have the right to talk to you about it."
"You're already doing it," Rachel remarked. She heard Quinn groan and stroked her hair with her nose to encourage her to continue.
How she loved the scent of her shampoo.
"She has a little girl" The blonde whispered after a moment. Rachel drummed her fingers down Quinn's spine. She trailed them on the creamy skin. She liked the goosebumps that followed her caresses. She knew it reassured her. You had to be patient and let Quinn take her time. Children were always a sensitive subject. For both of them.
"She can't see her. She hasn't been able to hold her daughter since she was born. Can you imagine Rach'?"
Rachel could hear Quinn's emotion and knew very well what nerve they were on.
Quinn systematically relived Beth's abandonment when she was confronted with a situation that was even remotely close to it, even when they were watching a movie.
"Shh. I know. Tell me about it and we'll both find a solution."
Beca had gone inside to take a shower and change before heading back to the hospital. For once, she didn't play music in the bathroom. She put on the clothes she had taken without paying attention. Seeing herself in the foggy mirror, she recognized the jacket Chloe liked to wear when they had late night practices.
Beca remembered that Chloe never took a jacket because she knew Beca would lend her hers.
It's been like this every Thursday evening for a little over a year. Beca smiled wetly. She missed Chloe terribly. In the kitchen, the musician wanted to prepare coffee to take to the hospital but there was no more coffee in the box next to the coffee maker. With about ten girls in the same house, usually the box filled itself so Beca had no idea where the coffee supply was. She opened each cupboard, searched the groceries, opened the drawers. She stopped at a drawer filled with medicine. The home pharmacy, with dressings and tapes in case of sprains. Beca had never seen Chloe swallow a single pill. The redhead was never sick, never weakened. She never took time off to do medical exams. Finally, Beca realized that, in fact, Chloe was missing classes and Chloe was taking medication. Chloe just hid it really well.
The brunette gave up her search.
She would get coffee and sandwiches for everyone on the road. There was more important. If Chloe woke up, she would need clothes and her medicine. Beca took it upon herself to go through Chloe's things to bring her back what she would need when she woke up so she went up to her friend's room.
Walking in, Beca felt like a thief, a spy who was entering without permission. She started with clothes because that would be the easiest to find. She was selecting pants when her phone rang. It was her father. Beca had to juggle the clothes in her arms and her phone slammed on her shoulder to answer.
"Yes Dad."
"Beca, the social worker is coming at one o'clock. Where are you?"
The musician turned to see the time on Chloe's alarm clock. It was past noon.
"I'll be there as soon as possible, I have to drop off some things at the hospital for Chloe and I'll come straight to your house after that."
"Okay, don't be late. It's important."
"I know, dad, she's my daughter." Beca articulated through her teeth.
"Don't get angry at me. It's just that I don't want her to stay in the hands of the state any longer.
"Don't worry, I'll be on time." Beca huffed as she hung up.
Events followed one another without her being able to realize what was happening. She felt herself being pulled from all sides.
During her call, she had put together several outfits that would do the placed everything on the bed and took out Chloe's yellow suitcase that she knew was stored in the dressing room to store the suitcase full, all that was missing was her little brunette looked around the she had to hide medicine but not forget to take it, where would she put it?Beca was very bad at hiding her proof, her box of secrets was no longer a box of secrets since the very day she moved in with the finding other people's hiding places was too much to medications could not be in the upstairs bathroom since it was turned to the dressing table in the corner of the room that had Chloe's makeup and jewelry on must sit there every day, Beca then searched the drawers, but even examined the jewelry boxes, without search then turned to the bedside table where she discovered photos, USB sticks and the kind of accessories that made her blush but no medicine.
Annoyed, Beca sat on the bed, head in her hands, knees impatient.
She tried to think of a possibility but she was in a hurry so she ended up giving up. The doctor would only have to write a new prescription. She took the suitcase and strode out of the house. She didn't have much time left and she couldn't be late.
On the road, Beca called Aubrey.
Later, she would look back on this choice and regret it, but in the moment, the person to warn seemed to be Aubrey.
"Beca? Everything's fine ?"
"Yes, listen, I couldn't come back straight away, I have an urgent appointment but I'll arrive straight away... "
"Beca, do you call while driving?!" Aubrey interrupted, almost choking.
"Uh..."
"Hang up right away!
You arrive when you arrive, it doesn't matter. You'll tell us later what's more important than Chloe." Beca looked at her screen, stunned. The blonde had already hung up. She couldn't believe her ears. Aubrey had apologized the day before!
Beca dropped her phone in the passenger seat and slammed her steering wheel several times in anger.
Regardless, her daughter would always come first. With or without the Bellas.
A/N: Hey guys, Merry Christmas to you all and your families ! Here's a little update. We're learning a bit more about Chloe here. What are your thoughts about it ? As always, thanks for reading. There'll be some more updates during the week hopefully. See you next time ! Take care.
