…
The next morning, Ace is slowly waking up when her phone rings, "hello," she says smiling into the phone.
"Good morning, I woke you up, didn't I?"
"Yes, but it's good you did. I forgot to set my alarm last night."
"Your visitor stayed a while?"
"Yeah, Liam and I haven't had a long night like that in ages."
"Did you go easy on him?"
"A little bit, but I did remind him about payback. Speaking of that, I didn't tell you the feeling is mutual."
"The feeling?"
"Wanting a repeat of Saturday night, though this time I want it to be just you and I."
"You do?"
"I do, how does it sound, you, me, just the two of us somewhere quiet."
"When I am with you everything seems quiet anyway."
"As long as we don't have any little spies, it will be perfect."
"We were spied on?"
"Yes, Tegan watched us say goodnight the other night including me kissing you on the cheek," on Graham's side on the phone he touches his cheek that Ace kissed.
"You have soft lips," Graham says softly.
"There may come a day when both of our lips touch," Ace adds wistfully.
"That will be a great day."
"Oh will it?"
"But any day I spend with you is a great day."
"I agree, from the moment we met in that volcano my days have been more fun."
"I am glad to hear that, you have no idea how brighter my days have been since you walked and hit me with your best shot."
"Oi, I did not hit you."
"Hit my heart."
"Oh Graham, you hit mine too."
"We must have been annoying everyone for the past 6 months."
"Whenever we officially become a we, we will have to be even more annoying."
"And you mean everyone, including your brother."
"I wasn't thinking of that, I was thinking of meddling in his love life."
"If you want to do that."
"You're thinking of Lisa aren't you?"
"She is like a sister to me, and the only thing about Saturday night is that I didn't treat her well. She deserves someone that will. I was already falling for you when I heard from her Saturday."
"We have been falling for each other for a while now, haven't we?"
"I have a feeling that we have. Nothing is wrong with that thought."
"Nothing at all. Graham, as much as I love talking to you, I have to get ready for work."
"I will let you go, what sounds good for lunch?"
"Surprise me."
"I will. See you later."
"Yes you will, do you want Nyssa to join us for lunch; as she does once a week."
"We can leave it up to her."
"Ok, bye Graham."
"Bye for now Ace." They hang up Ace rushes to get ready and head into A Charitable Earth.
"You're late." Nyssa points out the obvious as Ace rushes in.
"I know, if it wasn't for Graham calling me this morning."
"Like every other morning."
"Every morning," Ace rolls her eyes as Nyssa laughs.
"Ok every morning and probably every night. So why did Graham calling you help or not help you?"
"My brother came by last night and the two of us stayed up talking almost all night."
"What about Graham?"
"If you really need to know, Graham and I were on the phone when Liam showed up."
"When are you and Graham going on a date, like a real date?"
"We have talked a little bit about it," Ace says with a smile.
"When is it going to be?"
"We don't know yet, and with how the three of you have been acting," Ace stares down Nyssa, "I probably wouldn't tell you until either right before or after, so Graham and I could be alone."
"Alone," Nyssa wiggles her eyebrows.
"Not like that, I want to do everything right with Graham, and if that includes waiting for our first time, it means waiting."
"You and Graham are going slow."
"Are you the one to talk about moving slowly?"
"Not really.
"Exactly, look I love you Nyssa, but Graham and I need to figure this out on our own."
"You couldn't figure out the two of you liked each other."
"Nyssa," Ace walks to her office and sits down in her office chair waiting for Nyssa.
"What."
"You have had two great relationships, both ended up in marriages, Tegan is on her third, and here I am; with each person I have liked since I was 16, either ended up dead or working with the enemy. Of course there is Paul, who ended up being the worst choice for me. Even worse than Mike who worked with the Daleks."
"Graham is different then all of those people, yeah since he is a human he has a chance of dying, but he will not betray you."
"I know that. Nyssa, I really like him and I understand that he is taking a chance at love again after the last person he loved died."
"You are also taking a chance again, your last love ended horribly."
"I know that, it is also why I refuse to mix business and pleasure now."
"Is that why Graham comes here with lunch regularly?"
"That is different, he doesn't work here."
"Everyone knows him by now and have heard the two of you laughing while you have been eating lunch."
"He makes me laugh."
"I know that Ace," Nyssa sits in the chair across from Ace, "not only does he make you laugh and make you happy, you have changed since then."
"I think that it is also due to the fact I finally made peace with the Professor."
"I think that is a small part of it, you and Graham seem to be attached at the hip."
"We are not attached at the hips."
"Fine lips then."
"He has kissed my hand and I his cheek, that's it."
"You want more though."
"Just like you wanted more with Tegan while you two were companions of the Doctor."
"You want that much with him? Though Tegan and I did share a room in the TARDIS."
"Graham and I haven't shared much more than stories and free time."
"That will change."
"I know it will change Nyssa, maybe share something else on our first date."
"Like a kiss?"
"My god Nyssa, yes a kiss. Are we adults?"
"We are."
"Then why are we gossiping like teenagers?"
"Oh come on Ace."
"We should get to work."
