Kakashi carried her home. When he returned, he saw Pakkun sitting on the couch. His ear stood up when he saw them enter the threshold.
"How is she, Boss?" The pug asked.
Kakashi sighed, exhaustion evident in his posture. "Physically, she's fine. But emotionally and mentally... I don't know. I've never seen her like this before. It's my fault. I left her when she needed me the most."
Pakkun huffed, a mix of frustration and concern in his canine expression. "You can't blame yourself entirely, Boss. People go through tough times, and sometimes it's hard to predict how they'll react."
Kakashi nodded, acknowledging Pakkun's words, but the guilt still lingered in his eyes. He carefully laid Sakura down on the bed, making sure she was comfortable. Her eyes were closed, the earlier turmoil replaced by a quiet stillness. Then, he entered the bathroom, he opened the faucet and let it fill the tub with warm water. He needs to clean her before he treated her wounds. Or else, it will be infected.
Kakashi gently carried Sakura to the bathroom, placing her in the warm water of the tub. He carefully removed her clothes, and his eyes cannot hold the tears that was pooling there, as he saw the extent of her injuries.
Her hands, knees, and feet were bruised and scraped, evidence of her desperate journey through the village. Her arms, legs, and shoulders had big reddish, purple mark. Indicating that she stumbled on hard surface, and she just ignored it. Her face is full of scratches. There's not a part of her unharmed.
Kakashi gently cleaned Sakura's hands, knees, and feet, carefully tending to the injuries she had sustained during her desperate search. The water turned slightly pink from the blood, a stark reminder of the physical toll Sakura's emotional turmoil had taken on her.
As he worked, Kakashi couldn't help but replay the events in his mind. He realized how deeply Sakura had been affected by the loss of their child and she barely held it together for him, and then he left. He left when she needed him the most. The guilt of not being there for her intensified. He wished he could turn back time and change the way he reacted when she revealed the truth.
After cleaning her injuries, Kakashi dried her and spread healing salve on her wounds and wrapped bandages around her hands and knees, doing his best to provide comfort. Sakura's eyes remained closed, as if the ordeal had drained her of all energy. Once he finished, he carefully lifted her out of the tub and covered her with a soft towel.
Kakashi carried Sakura back to their bedroom, where he laid her down on the bed. He tucked her in, ensuring she was warm and comfortable. Sitting beside her, he gently brushed a strand of damp hair from her face, his visible eye filled with both love and regret.
The room was filled with a heavy silence, broken only by Sakura's occasional soft sighs. Kakashi felt a mix of emotions swirling within him—relief that she was physically okay, guilt for not being there when she needed him, and a deep-seated worry for her fragile mental state.
He leaned down and pressed a tender kiss to Sakura's forehead, his lips lingering for a moment. "I'm here for you, Sakura. I love you. I'll never leave you again," he vowed, as if making a solemn promise to both himself and to her sleeping form.
As he sat beside her, Kakashi couldn't shake off the heaviness in his heart. The room, once filled with the tension of their shared pain, now felt eerily still. The events of the day had unraveled their emotions, laying bare the vulnerabilities they kept hidden from each other.
