Months passed and Sakura's stomach just got bigger and bigger.
"My brother is here?" Sakumo poked Sakura's stomach in curiously. And the baby in her stomach kicked where Sakumo's finger poked it.
Sakura chuckled at Sakumo's reaction, patting her belly gently. "No, sweetheart. Your sister is in here." she patted her bulging stomach.
Sakumo scrunched his nose in disgust. "Ew, sister? But I already have a sister. And she always hit me in the head." he protested.
Sakura laughed at Sakumo's innocence, ruffling his silver hair affectionately. "Don't worry, sweetheart. Your new sister won't be hitting you in the head. But I need you to promise me that you'll be a good nii-san to her, okay?"
Sakumo thought for a moment, his small brows furrowed in concentration. "Okay, I'll be a good big brother. But if she tries to take the shuriken toys that Daddy gave me, I'll tell her no."
Sakura chuckled, finding Sakumo's protective nature endearing. "That's fair, Sakumo. Just remember to share nicely with your little sister. And maybe, you can teach her some cool ninja moves when she's older."
Sakumo's eyes lit up at the idea. "Yeah! I'll teach her the coolest moves, and we can be the best ninja ever!" He declared.
Sakura smiled at the boy and ruffled his hair again. It's really getting a little long and like Kakashi's it's also unruly.
"You'll be the best big brother, Sakumo. Your little sister is lucky to have you." Sakura said, feeling a surge of warmth in her heart. She marveled at the precious bond forming between her children, and the prospect of their growing family brought immense joy.
As the days passed, Sakura's belly continued to grow, and the anticipation in the household heightened. Kakashi, despite his usual calm demeanor, couldn't hide his excitement and concern for Sakura's well-being. He made sure she rested, ate well, and took care of herself as they awaited the arrival of their third child.
"Hey, how are you?" Kakashi asked as he entered their home.
"Fine. My back just hurts a lot." She complained.
Kakashi immediately moved to Sakura's side, his hands gently rubbing her lower back. "You've been carrying our little ninja in there. It's no surprise your back is feeling the strain. Let me help with that."
Sakura sighed contentedly as Kakashi's hands worked their magic, relieving some of the tension in her back. "You're spoiling me, you know that?"
Kakashi chuckled, planting a soft kiss on the top of her head. "Consider it a husband's duty to pamper his pregnant wife. How's the little one doing in there?"
Sakura grinned, placing one of Kakashi's hands on her belly. "Active, just like Sakumo was. Kikyo was the calm one, never kicked too strong or made me lose all my dinner. I think we've got another little troublemaker on our hands."
Kakashi smiled, feeling the gentle movements beneath his hand. "Troublemaker or not, I can't wait to meet her. Any idea when she'll make her grand entrance?"
Sakura shrugged, "Babies have their own schedule. But I'm due soon. Maybe in a week or two. We should have everything ready just in case."
Kakashi nodded, a thoughtful expression on his face. "I'll make sure everything's prepared. Do you need anything right now? Water, snacks, a foot rub?"
Sakura laughed, "You're spoiling me too much, Kakashi. But I won't say no to some water and maybe a snack. Being pregnant makes you hungry all the time."
Kakashi nodded, giving her a quick peck on the lips before heading to the kitchen. As he prepared a light snack, he couldn't help but reflect on the journey they had taken. From the ups and downs of their relationship to the joy of raising Sakumo and Kikyo, and now, the anticipation of welcoming a new member to their family.
Returning with a tray of snacks and water, Kakashi settled beside Sakura, placing the tray on a nearby table. "Here you go. Anything else you need?"
Sakura smiled, appreciating his attentiveness. "Just you being here is more than enough. But maybe, tell me a story? It always helps me relax."
"A story?" Kakashi asked. "You already know all the stories from my childhood."
Sakura chuckled, her eyes sparkling with affection. "I wouldn't mind hearing them again. I love knowing my husband over and over again."
Kakashi grinned, a softness in his eyes. "Alright, let's see... Ah, I remember a story. A story when my father was still alive." Kakashi began, a nostalgic tone in his voice. "Like me, a hound of ninkens is his summon. One day, Pakkun's dad just appeared out of nowhere and drop Pakkun to his hands. He said, 'since you make me work all the time, you take care of the pup' then left. My father was taken aback because Pakkun is so small."
"Did he ever get bigger since then?" She asked.
"I don't know. As far as I can remember, he was that size since then. And I got him when I was three."
Sakura smiled, picturing a young Kakashi with a tiny Pakkun in his hands. "Three years old, huh? That must have been quite a surprise." She said. "Is Pakkun the first ninken you had?"
Kakashi nodded, "Yeah. That is why he's the pack leader, even though he is the smallest. But I grew attached to him quickly. He became my companion, and we trained together. Pakkun was always there for me, even during the toughest times."
Sakura reached out, gently tracing circles on Kakashi's hand. "It's amazing how these bonds form, isn't it? I mean, look at us. Who would've thought we'd end up here, married and with two wonderful kids and another on the way?"
Kakashi smiled, his gaze meeting Sakura's with a warmth that reflected the depth of their journey together. "Life has it's way of surprising us. And I wouldn't have it any other way. From the moment Pakkun became a part of my life to the day we met, every twist and turn led us here. I wouldn't trade any of it for the world."
She leaned into him and stared at the one photograph in the wall that wasn't a photo of them. It held a photo of a man she never met, while Kakashi was straddling the man's neck while his chubby little hands gripped the man's silver mane. The man looked so happy in the photograph as he held on to Kakashi's tiny legs. "If I can, there is one thing that I would change."
Kakashi looked at her with curiosity, his eyes questioning. "What would you change, Sakura?"
Sakura sighed, her gaze still fixed on the photograph. "I wish I could have met your father. From the stories you've told me, he seems like an incredible person. I would have loved to thank him for bringing such an amazing man into the world. I would love to thank him for my husband."
Kakashi's eyes softened, and he pulled Sakura closer, wrapping his arm around her. "I'm sure he would have loved you. You made his son happy again, and probably he would have given you everything just for you not to leave me. Dad would probably knock me in the head for not marrying you sooner, though." He chuckled quietly. "He died when I was young, but I can imagine what he would have said. He would say, 'What are you waiting for, Kakashi? For her to knock her head hard enough to realize that she could have so much better than you? Marry her already!'." He said in an imitation of his father's voice.
Sakura laughed, a mixture of joy and affection. "Your dad sounds like he had a good sense of humor. I really wish I could have met him."
Kakashi pressed a soft kiss on Sakura's forehead. "Me too, Sakura. But I'm grateful that he gave me Pakkun, he became my friend. And that eventually led me to you. Maybe in some way, he's still watching over us. Maybe thinking that his only son is neck-deep in the darkness and thought that I need a little pink in my life."
Sakura chuckled, leaning into Kakashi's embrace. "Well, I'm glad he did, and I really did need a lot of silver in my life." She rubbed her stomach. "Although it wouldn't hurt for my daughter to have pink hair. I'm the odd one out in this house. All three of you were silver and grey. Your son even looks like your dad. I'm the only pink and green one. Everytime we go out with the kids, I felt like the outsider intruding on your family."
Kakashi chuckled, his arms tightening around Sakura. "Nah, you're not an outsider, between the two of us, you're the homemaker, the one that makes us complete. Though I must admit, pink and green stand out in the best way possible. Our little ninja will have the best of both worlds—your strength and my... well, my charming, good looks."
Sakura playfully rolled her eyes. "Charming, good looks, huh? Modesty must be a recessive trait in your family." She teased him.
Kakashi grinned, "I learned it from the best, my father, the ultimate charmer. But in all seriousness, our little one will be perfect. Even if she would turn pink or silver. Just not black hair, please Sakura, not charcoal, black hair and eyes."
Sakura narrowed her eyes, as she stared at Kakashi. "Black hair?" she asked. Her mind racing, trying to think what this was about. And there are only two men in the village with those descriptors, their former teammates, Sasuke and Sai. "As in Uchiha black?"
"I saw Sasuke stalking the house…" he carefully said.
"Are you implying that I had an affair with Sasuke?" Sakura finished his sentence, her eyes narrowing further. "Really, Kakashi? You think I'd do that? After I chose you over and over again throughout the years?" she asked indignantly.
Kakashi's eyes widened in realization, and he quickly shook his head. "No, no, Sakura, that's not what I meant. I trust you completely. I was just making a joke, a bad one, obviously. I know our little one will have pink hair like you. I didn't mean to imply anything about Sasuke. I'm sorry if it came across that way."
Sakura crossed her arms, still giving him a stern look. "You better be sorry. Accusing your pregnant wife of such things, honestly."
Kakashi sighed, his apologetic expression sincere. "I messed up, Sakura. I should have thought before I spoke. I trust you completely, and I know our family is built on that trust. I love you, and I'm sorry for any doubt I unintentionally caused."
Sakura softened at his genuine apology, realizing it was just a poorly chosen attempt at humor. "Alright, you're forgiven. But don't make jokes like that, especially when I'm this pregnant and hormonal, my fists are just itching to punch you all the way to Suna. And I don't think Gaara would appreciate it if a certain silver-haired, copy ninja just crashed through his village gates unannounced." She threatened, then a certain thought came to her. "Or I might just punch you all the way to the hospital. Okaa-san, would very much like to have you in her emergency room and operating table."
Kakashi chuckled, relieved that Sakura accepted his apology. "Noted. No more questionable jokes, especially during pregnancy. I'll stick to safer topics, like Icha Icha or my impressive collection of ninja dogs."
Sakura rolled her eyes, playfully nudging him. "You and your Icha Icha. I'm surprised you haven't tried to read it to the baby yet."
Kakashi smirked, feigning innocence. "Well, it's never too early to appreciate literature."
Sakura laughed, shaking her head. "I'm pretty sure our baby would appreciate a good fairy tale more than Icha Icha. But hey, at least we'll have a well-rounded child, exposed to both classic tales and... whatever those books are." She looked at him sharply. "Now, I want you to continue your storytelling. To make me calm, I don't ready want to give birth right now because of your stupid joke."
Kakashi chuckled, realizing he needed to keep the atmosphere light. "Alright, no more questionable jokes. How about a fairy tale for our little one?" he suggested. "Once upon a time, in the hidden village of Konoha, there lived a strong and beautiful medic ninja named Sakura. She had hair as pink as cherry blossoms, and her heart was as kind as the gentlest breeze." He started, telling his daughter their story.
Sakura smiled, appreciating the way that he is telling their story. "I like where this is going. Go on."
Kakashi continued, "Sakura met a mysterious ninja, known for his silver hair and a mask covering half his face. His name was Kakashi, and he was a skilled and stoic warrior. Despite his tough exterior, there was a warmth in his eye that only Sakura could see."
Sakura playfully nudged Kakashi. "Are you sure you're not just talking about yourself?" she joked.
Kakashi grinned, "Well, maybe a little. Now, where was I? Oh, yes. Sakura and Kakashi, despite their differences, found a deep connection. And even though people said that Sakura is too young for the seasoned ninja like Kakashi, she still chose to be with him." He gave his wife his eye-smile. "And he chose her. Because she's more important than any of the judgment of the villagers. Kakashi really loves the cherry blossom like woman. And they faced many challenges together, from dangerous missions to the chaos of raising two energetic kids, Sakumo and Kikyo." He cupped her face and tapped her nose lightly before he let her face go. "As the years passed, their love only grew stronger. And one day, they received the most precious gift of all – a little ninja on the way, a new chapter in their adventure." Kakashi continued, his voice filled with warmth and affection. "The little ninja, still snug in her mother's belly, heard the tales of her parents' journey and the love that bound their family together."
Sakura smiled, captivated by Kakashi's storytelling. "It's a beautiful story, Kakashi. Our story."
Kakashi nodded, his eye crinkling with a genuine smile. "Our story, indeed. And it's far from over. The next chapter is about to begin, with a new character – our daughter."
As they basked in the warmth of their shared tale, Sakura felt a gentle kick from within. She placed her hand over her belly, feeling the life growing inside her. The presence of their unborn child added a layer of sweetness to the story, making it even more magical.
"Looks like our little ninja agrees with the story," Sakura remarked, her eyes gleaming with happiness.
Kakashi chuckled, placing his hand over hers. "I think she does. She's ready to join the adventure. We'll have our hands full with three little troublemakers, won't we?"
Sakura laughed, a joyful sound that echoed in their home. "Trouble or not, I wouldn't have it any other way. Our family is a beautiful chaos, and I wouldn't trade it for the world."
Kakashi leaned in, pressing a soft kiss on Sakura's forehead. "Me neither, Sakura. Me neither."
She smiled at him when he pulled away, she really loves it when Kakashi is being affectionate to her. "Well, Kakashi, back to our conversation about the baby's hair color..."
Kakashi grinned, happy to steer the conversation away from any potential misunderstandings. "Yes, about that. Pink and silver would be a unique combination. We'll just have to wait and see."
