Rewrite of System Gundam.
I decided to rewrite due to the pacing. I didn't like it and I was not to make a fresh start of it.
Chapter 1
It was supposed to be a good day today.
Today is my name day. We were supposed to celebrate this day when I entered the age of 10 and had 4 winters.
Yet, this day had turned into a nightmare.
We're just a small farming village north of Ansur. It was densely settled near the Erised Forest, where the Dark Queen's monsters lurk, but close enough to Ansur to answer to any potential attacks.
Our people are hard-working. We have to pay taxes because the nobles of Ansur put them on us for our protection. The old mayor always pays them on time and never misses a payment.
Because of this, our family must always get our monthly quota. We are a small family of four. My parents only had me and my elder sister.
Life here is hard, but we still find joy in it.
Until now.
We didn't know where the attack first happened. I was just working in the fields, eagerly awaiting the end of the day to celebrate my name day, when I heard the dreadful sound of the Mayor's alarm bells.
Monster attack.
My father immediately gathered us into the underground silo to hide, then joined the militia to fight back the monsters. I tried to follow him, but he dissuaded me. I was to protect my mother and sister now. I reluctantly agreed.
So we waited, huddled and scared, listening to the sounds of battle and dying screams outside.
Until it went quiet.
Suddenly, the silo doors were opened by a sword that cleaved its wooden lock. It opened, revealing a man: a mercenary.
My mother, sister, and I were elated at the man's arrival, but I was terrified.
Because the man had a wicked grin on his face, two orcs followed behind him.
I tried to fight back, but an orc sent me flying towards the crates of our harvest, causing a huge crash that knocked me out.
I woke up to a fire.
The silo was on fire.
I tried to get up but couldn't. My legs were broken and one of my arms had the same fate. So I started crawling with one arm, pushing and pulling myself out of the fire.
It was painful and torturous. Each movement caused my broken limbs to flare up in pain. But I persisted.
I want to live.
And escaped, I did.
It was already night, but the village was lit up with flames.
My village, my home, is burning to the ground.
Monsters and humans have always been around, celebrating and enjoying their bounty.
My heart broke when I saw the dead bodies of my mother and sister, all with leaking seeds in their orifices.
I looked away while crying.
I failed my father.
Slowly, I crawled away.
Whenever a monster or human comes close, I stop and play dead.
As I crawled to escape, I found my father, or what's left of him.
He is being eaten by an orc.
I swallowed the bile in my mouth and kept crawling away.
I made my torturous journey, but I made it into the cornfields.
It was untouched, and I crawled into its labyrinth to hide.
I hid, and quietly cried my sorrow.
I listened to them making merry all night.
I didn't sleep.
I want to listen.
I want to know who I'm going to kill.
I waited until morning came, when the last of them finally left the smoldering wreckage of my village.
I waited for hours and finally screamed.
I WILL KILL YOU ALL!!! I PROMISE THIS, I WILL SLAUGHTER YOU ALL, DOWN TO THE LAST ONE OF YOU!!!
We'll said my boy.
I looked up in panic at the voice. It came from behind the shadows, behind the cornstalks.
I can only see a pair of red eyes.
"Wha-what do you want from me?!" I stuttered, terrified of this unknown creature.
It's not what I want from you, boy. but what you want from me.
"what? "
Do you wish for power? Do you want revenge?
It intrigues me, and I answered truthfully.
" Yes, I want power. I want revenge on those who did this."
Splendid! Well then, let's have a deal!
"What kind of deal?" My father once warned me of conmen trying to rope us into unfair dealings. this thing is giving me that feeling.
Oh, you have nothing to worry about. The deal is simple. I'll give you power, so that you can take your revenge. In return, your eyes will be my eyes. This way, I can see what you see and experience what you experience.
I was confused by the proposition. It sounded unfair to the creature.
"Why?" I asked.
Because sometimes, it pays to see things through a fresh set of eyes. I don't think much of it. Do you agree?
From the shadows, a thin and spindly arm emerged. Its claws were sharp and horrible.
Yet, I don't feel fear.
"I accept." I grabbed its hand.
My world turned into darkness after it.
I'm sure you'll tell me new stories, Mika.
rewrite of the original system Gundam due to plot.
this one will be focused on the journey itself to power.
