Heroes and Monsters

Heroes. A symbol of greatness and influence. A character in the story meant to overcome any obstacle in their path. They are loved by all, praised for their efforts or worshipped by a few. Many stories of heroes have been told over the centuries and there a few that feature one thing in common regarding the heroes. The Heroes slay monsters.

The monsters are the enemies of the heroes. Evil incarnate with hideous appearances and personalities. The polar opposite of the Hero. Monsters are feared by all for they plunder villages and kill the innocent. The hero is only one that stands their ground without a trace of fear and fights the monster. And wins. This act of chivalry restores the people's hope and faith.

Yet. . . is there a time where the Monster wins? That the hero fails and there is no one to defend the innocents?

No. There is no story where the hero fails and the monster wins. The hero always seems to triumph over the evil monsters.

That is. . . until now.

The Great War and the rise of the Schnee Dust Company

Eighty years ago, the largest war in Remnant History ended. It was a war of oppression, greed and ignorance. The four Kingdoms fought for countless reasons. A war for more than who traded with who or where whose borders lied. But it started with destroying the very idea of individualism itself.

It was the kingdom of Mantle extreme method of wanting to prevent Grimm attacks by attempting to control people's emotions. Rather than lose its alliance, the Kingdom of Mistral helped Mantle fight in the war while Vale and Vacuo fought against their ideals.

The war lasted a total of ten years before all Kingdoms stopped fighting in a battle in Vacuo's desert environment and made an agreement on Vytal Island. This war also sparked the Faunus Revolution that ended with the Faunus granted civil rights and gifted the continent of Menagerie for their own use for their mistreatment in the past.

Mantle had suffered greatly from its loss in the war despite founding the Huntsman Academy of Atlas. Eventually, Nicholas Schnee brought the kingdom back on its feet by finding large reserves of Dust and founding the Schnee Dust Company and later allied with the Mistral Trading Company. This also lead to the creation of Dust bombs. Weapons capable of killing a whole horde of Grimm.

Yet. . . is that all that happened when Nicholas Schnee founded the SDC? Was things really that simple when Dust bombs were invented? Or is there something behind the story? Something darker. . . monstrous?

To: Our readers

From: Vale News Network editors

We have always dedicated ourselves to maintaining a strict level of discretion and high quality in the subject matter that our publications explore. To that end, we do not participate in the publishing of 'sensationalistic' works designed to capitalize on public tragedies and disasters.

Because of these demanding standards, we initially had no intention of publishing any books covering what many can describe as "the story of the century." We are referring, of course, to the first encounter of the monstrous Kaiju that the media and the general public have come to know as "Godzilla."

However, we were forced to reconsider our position upon receiving "the diary." We were neither looking for, nor expecting it.

How was the diary acquired? Quite simply: One day a package arrived at the desk of one of our editors. In the carefully wrapped package we found the diary-or more correctly, a series of diaries-personal journals, all handwritten, covering one event on a day nearly eighty years ago. We were astounded to discover that the writers of these journals were the following:

Maria Calavera, the Grimm Reaper, a legendary Huntress that went missing in action and was declared dead.

David Brunswick, a founding member of the Brunswick Farms near the Kingdom of Mistral and retired Huntsman.

Mantle Captain Steven Ironwood, the grandfather of Atlas Military General and Academy Headmaster James Ironwood.

Albert Polendina, the father of Pietro Polendina, Atlas's most brilliant scientist.

Dr. Daisuke Serizawa and Emiko Yamane, the daughter of famous scientist Dr. Kyohei Yamane.

And Nicholas Schnee, the founder of the Schnee Dust Company with his wife, Martha.

The diaries all start with the days before the first appearance of Godzilla. We realized that this was all the perspectives of people who had experienced the horror known as Godzilla. Not only that, but we learn the truth of where Godzilla comes from. We have no idea where these diaries came from. We have a few theories and suspicions. But we do not and cannot know for sure, and so it would not be appropriate for us to speculate. We have, however, had three different handwriting experts review the diaries, and they have all said the same thing: They are absolutely genuine.

What you are about to read are selections from the actual diaries of Nicholas and Martha Schnee, Captain Ironwood, David Brunswick, Doctors Serizawa, Polendina, Emiko Yamane and Maria Calavera. All calibrated to tell the true story behind Godzilla's first appearance and rampage. These diary excerpts will give you the most complete picture that anyone has ever been given of Godzilla, the King of the Monsters.

For those who have survived Grimm attacks will sympathize with these people while knowing that a Godzilla attack is very different from a Grimm attack.

Guess who's back, back again?

GojiraFan455516, that's who!

"I LIIIVVE!"
-Mushu from Mulan, 1998.

I have watched the trailers for the upcoming Godzilla movie and TV series. "Godzilla: Minus One" and "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters." They have both given me inspiration to continue writing "Remnant's Alpha Titan" and start this new story, "Remnant 1954."

I have thought that it is interesting when you look at them side-by-side.

Titanus Gojira is completely neutral towards humans unless they're getting in his business or doing something he thinks they shouldn't. (As shown in GvK and Godzilla: Dominion.) And he would act the same in Remnant. He would rise to defend his home and restore balance, unintentionally saving humanity. (Or intently if Ozpin or the other characters managed to have a 'conversation' with him and make a deal.)

A Toho Godzilla, on the other hand, like 1954 Gojira is the opposite. He's the living embodiment of nuclear war and its horrors. What happens when you poke the Earth too much, Earth will poke back. That's what he'll be in Remnant. The real "Nature's Wrath." (I said it like that because, remember the first opening to RWBY Volume 1? Salem had called Dust, Nature's Wrath.) And we have all seen how 1954 Godzilla is to humans. Sink many ships before coming on the nearest inhabited island, then come to the closest human city, (Granted the first time was after being hit by depth charges.) and the second time he would take his time burning the city to the ground. With Salem lurking in the shadows, 1954 Godzilla would be more like an anti-hero with his own goals, not aligned with Ozpin and Co.

I have thoughts of situations of the other incarnations of Godzilla in Remnant would be like, but I'll talk about those later.

And unlike most crossovers I have found, this story doesn't revolve around Team RWBY's generation. This is set way after the Great War and way before Team STRQ's time. Plus, this is one of the rare Godzilla-RWBY crossovers where Godzilla isn't a Faunus or that he isn't transported from Earth to Remnant, hence why I mentioned Dust Bombs. Remnant's equivalent of nuclear bombs. Now, 1954 Godzilla may seem one of the weakest incarnations of Godzilla (Movies, anime and comic) but I'm confident that in a world of bloody evolution, he can still prove himself worthy of being called the King of the Monsters. Especially when you add Aura and Semblance into the equation.

After all, he's the one who started it all.

Now, I know that Gojira (in color) is brown and his Atomic Breath is orange, but I find it more appealing to describe him in his black and white appearance.

I do hope you will all enjoy reading this as I will enjoy writing it.

Leave reviews and tell me what you like, think about this idea or want to happen.

Take care. Stay safe. And I'll do the same.

GojiraFan455516 out.

Peace.
