Chapter 5

Operation Odessa was so successful that the Federation is now bringing the fight to space, in Zeon territory.

In order to do this, we need to go to Jaburo to resupply and obtain a proper debriefing.

But first, we made a pitstop in Belfast, a port city in Ireland.

Kai uncovered a Zeon spy, who was an Earth native. The poor girl was about to be punished, but Captain Bright had a great idea. The girl is now a double agent against Zeon spies, and her siblings will be taken to safety. She accepted, and she also took a liking to Kai, whom he reciprocated.

They promised to meet after the war ended.

A few days passed, and we arrived at Jaburo.

We were greeted with a fanfare as General Revil himself was waiting for our arrival. We also met Lt. Matilda's future husband, much to the boys' lament.

We are then given various promotions for our valiant efforts in the war, even though we were once civilians. General Revil thanked us for our service and bravery, which we took with humility.

In Jaburo, we have finally been given rest. No Zeon pursuers or targets. It's just now the preparation for the final stages of the war.

A lot has happened in the days we spent in the underground base.

Ramba Ral was turned over to the Federation as a POW. I'm honestly sad to see the old Veteran leave, his teachings and wisdom had kept me and the boys alive in this war.

I also took this time to familiarize myself with my system.

I upgraded my Diligent perk to double my learning speed and bought the Mechanic Sense perk with my accumulated Ace points. Ace points can be earned only by killing.

This perk allowed me to understand technology to its fullest potential.

A whole new world has been opened to me.

Using this new perk, I dove through a whole lot of materials to study.

I studied everything I can. From modern science to today's current technological engineering.

At the end of the session, I can now build a Gundam from scratch. I can even upgrade and repair the Unicorn on my own now.

Which I did.

Imagine Amuro's surprise when he saw tinkering around the Unicorn.

When he find out what I'm doing, he started doing the same. The Jaburo base had a lot of materials to use after all.

First, I built myself a new gun. I can't always resort to my Hyper Bazooka.

So I made a Beam Gatling Gun. Using the GM's beam spray gun blueprints, I used its Beam system and turned it into a Gatling Gun. It's highly effective.

It's inaccurate, but it gets the job done. To suppress the enemy with a huge barrage of gunfire.

I also added some thrusters and optimized its systems, especially the radar, for the upcoming space battle.

Then I noticed something.

The Unicorn is Lvl.10.

A development tree had opened for 4 paths.

I naturally picked its full powered version.

It transformed into the Unicorn Gundam. How did it become a Gundam? I don't know, but I found a new system in its frame.

It's called a Psycho-Frame and it's very dangerous.

Normal MS moves via the body inputs of its pilots, but this Psycho-Frame has a more direct method of movement. By receiving brain waves directly from the pilot, this allows the MS to move with no delay or lag and achieve high performance.

It's obviously dangerous due to the physical and mental effects of the pilot. Due to its zero lag in input, the pilot's body will be heavily strained to keep up to the MS movements and the mental side effects due to the strain can affect the Psychoframes inputs.

What's worrying is that the Unicorn has a full-body psycho-frame built into its armor. This means that when it activates, its performance will become higher than the normal threshold. It would be inhuman.

I decided to use it as a last resort for now and hid it from the Federation. It's just too dangerous.

After doing some work with my MS, I helped Amuro in his while he studied in making a Learning AI for the Gundam.

Using and molding various defense plates, I created a full armor plating to the Gundam which can be detached when it reaches critical damage. I also created new weapons for the Gundam which I based on the catalog I found in my system.

I planned to turn it into the Perfect Gundam.

Using some spare Guncannon shoulder cannons, I attached it to the MS to add some stopping power. This shoulder Cannon can use the standard ammunition and scattershot ammunition.

Disassembling Amuro's spare Beam rifle, I created a much more powerful Beam Hand cannon with spare E-packs to maximize its efficiency in combat.

Now, the Gundam had more firepower and longer combat time in the field before resupplying or repairs.

We are now ready for combat.

"That boy is surely scary " General Revil commented as he watched the two boys pilot their MS which they heavily customized on their own. The RX-78-2 Gundam is now barely recognizable due to its new upgrades.

If Tem Ray is still alive, he would be proud of his boy.

"Mika is a good soldier, General. He's presence alone had changed the entire crew." Bright said to the old gentleman.

"Care to elaborate, Captain." The General hummed.

"Mika's eagerness to learn and nurture his skills in and out of combat had sparked a competitive spirit among my crew, especially to the MS pilots. "

" No wonder, your boys grew a lot in this war." General Revil stated.

From the ragtag civilian conscript crew, the Whitebase crew members had grown a lot in a short time in the war. Now, the crew had the bearings of a professional.

"As much as I want to talk about your boys, we needed to talk about a certain someone in your crew. Someone very Important." The old man gave Bright a pointed look.

" Sayla Mass." Bright said.

"Or Artesia Som Deikun, one of the lost heirs of Zeon Zum Deikun. I had a talk with Ral."

" What would happen to her? "Bright asked in worry. Sayla is a part of their small family and it would be a huge concern to them that something happens to her.

Seeing his worry, Revil alleviated his worry.

" Nothing serious, it only matters if she cooperates."

" What do you have in mind, General? "

" A plan to end this war permanently. "

Our departure came soon after days of preparation.

As we left, we gave a tearful goodbye to Fraw Bow and the three kids. They are left behind for their safety. We are now entering into a battlefield and we couldn't guarantee their safety. Fraw volunteered to take care of the three. I hadn't interacted much with the girl but she is a good friend. Kind and helpful, she is one of the few who immediately accepted me in the crew even though I'm a complete stranger.

Before we leave, we are debriefed to our roles in the operation.

The White Base will go to Side 6 to acquire their assistance or secure their complete neutrality in the war. Zeon politicians are also expected, but a cease-fire is held under the neutral colony. Combat is prohibited.

Meanwhile, I'll be separated to the Whitebase. It was the decision of the General.

Don't put your eggs in one basket as he says.

Instead, I'll be joining the General in his flagship, the Dogosse Giar - class Battleship.

If the Whitebase is a carrier ship, then the Dogosse is a huge Battleship for war.

I liked it.

I said my goodbyes and safe return to my friends before joining the General.

It's time to end this war.

Operation Star one has now begun.

Our first target, the Asteroid fortress of Solomon. A huge chunk of asteroid chuck full of defense placements and frontal base for Zeon's ships.

Capturing it is very important.

But that's not my job. My current job for now is to guard the preparation of the mirror array for the Solar Flare System.

I instead opted to listen in the comms for any updates of the battle.

The battle began when the White Base and other EFF ships assaulted Solomon from its rear. Firing beam-reflecting missiles, the Federation turned Solomon's beam weapon installations useless. This forced the base to deploy its mobile suits and ships to engage in close-range combat.

That was the defenders first mistake.

The GMs equipped with the new mass produced Hyper Bazookas fired volleys after volleys of shrapnels raining on the Zeon forces.

MS and Ships are immediately gutted at the repeated volleys before they retreat deep in the asteroid to play home advantage.

Due to this, EFF ships are forced to send out their forces to flush out the defenders. They can bombard the asteroid base but it must be captured but it would be danger close to their MS teams.

Inside the Asteroid base, fierce combat continued as the Zeon defenders vigorously fought back against the EFF forces.

Due to this, General Revil had ordered the Solar Flare System to fire on the asteroid where there are huge amounts of defenders with the officers in the field giving coordinates.

It was devastating.

A huge beam of concentrated sunlight pierced the asteroids surface as it vaporized the Zeon defenders. After that attack, the defenders started surrendering.

That's when bad news came.

" Enemy Mobile Armors! I repeat, they have multiple Mobile Armors! " An officer relayed before his comms went off with a bang. His probably dead by now.

Soon multiple reports of multiple Mobile Armors came.

" Yellow Mobile Armors are decimating the GMs, we need covering fire!!! "

" Hyper Bazookas are ineffective. I repeat, Hyper Bazookas are ineffective against their armor!!! "

" Beam weapons are also ineffective! Beam weapons are not effective! "

" Don't let them get to the ships!!!"

"The Gundam is engaging the Mobile Armors. Provide covering fire!"

It was a chaotic chatter as these Mobile Armor wrecked havoc to EFF forces.

It wasn't long before the General made his move.

The Solar Flare System again.

A concentrated beam of sunlight immediately vaporized some of the Mobile Armors. At the end of the attack only 5 Mobile Armors remained. 1 giant green armor and 3 yellow armors. The green one is a huge bulbous torso with no arms or head but has two legs. Meanwhile, the yellow ones are comical. They are akin to animals with open mouths, fangs, and claws. Their mouths also function as main weapons.

Suddenly General Revil opened the comms to everyone.

" To all Federation soldiers! General Dozzle is confirmed to be piloting the Green MA. Subdue and capture him as much as possible."

Things just got complicated.

" Mika, joined the Gundam and worked together to capture Dozzle! " the General ordered which I complied.

Blasting through the battlefield, I can see the 5 MAs cruising towards the Solar Flare System. They had located the weapon most likely and planned to destroy it. With the yellow MAs escorting the largest MA, the green one, they plowed through EFF MS and Ships easily. On their tail, the Gundam nipped on them using its Shoulder Cannon to pepper the hugest MA with scattershot ammo, but to no avail. The yellow MAs escorts would then chase away the Gundam with its beam weapons while brandishing their claws, but if the Gundam gets caught by them, it will be over for Amuro.

Arriving, I pulled out my Beam Magnum and fired.

The red beam of the Magnum flew towards the escort MAs. They all dodged out of the way, but two got caught in the beam particles. Their MAs armor became red-hot before critical system failure caused the MA to explode in a fiery ball of explosions.

These caught the attention of the remaining MA, especially the hugest one.

The Green MA turned towards me, its chest panel glowing as it charged its main weapon. It fired shortly after.

It was comparable to the Dogosse's main Hyper Cannons in terms of output. I swerved out of the way but the MA turned to follow me with its beam. Using my new thrusters, I made a sharp turn upwards before diving below, which it couldn't follow because of the angle.

It also meant a distraction for Amuro to come in.

Finished in destroying the 3 escort MAs, Amuro dived in at the opportunity. While the MA tried to angle itself down to follow me, Amuro came and shoved its Beam Gun to the MA's main weapon.

It exploded and turned the weapon into scrap. The MA is still functional thankfully to its strong materials and construction.

It tried to leave.

I ignited my Beam Tonfas and joined Amuro in disabling the MA by destroying its thrusters.

We made quick and short work with it.

With the loss of Solomon's secret weapon, the remaining Zeon forces surrendered to the EFF.

Solomon is now taken.

Dozzle was captured shortly after the battle and treated as a VIP POW in the Dogosse. General Revil is currently talking to him while me and some veterans patrolled the area and nearby abandoned colonies.

Working under the General's command is vastly different than in the Whitebase. The Whitebase is still a prototype ship, the first of its kind, so it only had rookie personnel with a few veterans.

The Dogosse is chuck full of veterans, mostly fighter pilots and Marines turned MS pilots.

They're pretty interesting company and teachers. Those old flyboys sure as hell knew how to fly, their manuevers is especially hard to imitate even with the Unicorn.

Then a curious sight happened.

A Zeon ship, Gwazine class, arrived not for combat but in peace.

Degwin Zabi had come to talk for peace and see his son.

It was a tense affair but General Revil accepted his offer for peace.

This talk might actually end the war.

Suddenly, a sharp pain came to my head. I clutch it in pain but what my head showed is horrible.

A horrible premonition appeared in my head.

The Sun came and vaporized everything. The EFF, the Whitebase and everyone on Earth.

Bile rose up but I swallowed it back. I can't vomit in my suit.

Then I see it happen upon my eyes.

From the horizon, a bright light slowly shined into a blazing beam of light as it traveled across space towards our position.

It will destroy the entire fleet and the solar flare system.

Revil and Degwin will die and the Whitebase will be next. Just like in the vision.

" Nooooooooo! "

The EFF fleet, ignorant to the impending doom, remained unaware at the last moment.

Revil and Degwin deep into their discussion as they settle their affairs.

The fleet of ships sensors and radars didn't pick up any kind of anomaly, this they never saw it coming.

They only noticed it when a giant of Beam slammed itself to a giant circular shield produced by the Unicorn.

With it's arm outstretched and emitting red particles, it created a huge barrier between the Beam and the entire EFF fleet.

" ALL SHIPS! GET OUT OF THE BLAST ZONE! MOVE! MOVE!" The flagship screamed to his fleet before moving away from the blast zone.

They all immediately moved. The Unicorn is giving them time to move out. Unfortunately it also meant the destruction of the Solar Flare System but the fleet is more important.

" WHAT HAPPENED! SITREP!" General Revil burst in the Captain's deck to see the situation. Following behind him is Degwin who upon seeing the giant Beam being stopped paused in shock.

"Gihren, you foolish child." He whispered in horror.

"Sir! An unknown attack was intercepted by the Unicorn but he won't hold for long. We currently evacuating the Kill Zone." The Captain reported.

General Revil turned towards the Unicorn who is now struggling and buckling under the weight of the attack.

Then he noticed something. The Unicorn had transformed.

" A Gundam! " he whispered in shock.

The Unicorn is no longer the faceless MS it was. Now it sports a V-shaped horn like the Gundam, multiple armor plates shift to reveal angry red lines of its inner frame, and those frames start emitting red particles as the Unicorn keeps up the barrier that protects them.

" Unicorn Gundam, so that's your real name."

" Sir! Energy levels of the Beam are reducing!"

" Hmm, so it's not finished yet."

Revil turned to Degwin.

" You know this weapon, Degwin? " he demanded. A furious scowl on his face.

Seeing the General's anger, he sighed. Time to tell the truth.

" It's a colony laser. A colony converted as an orbital laser meant to fire on Earth if things go south." the old man Zabi patriarch said.

" You approved this kind of weapon! " the General said in horror.

" I didn't!!! " Degwin snapped." I didn't approve of such a weapon! My foolish son, Gihren, proposed such a weapon but I turned him down. Looks like he did this behind my back." Degwin said with a resigned look.

This is very bad for Zeon. The negotiations for peace had just taken a huge setback.

After 5 minutes of constant fire, the Colony laser subsided. The Unicorn Gundam floated unresponsive as the Beam faded.

"Sir! Unicorn pilot is unresponsive. Vitals are falling fast!"

" Quick! Send in the MS team for recovery. I want that boy alive!" Revil took command.

As the MS team retrieved the Unicorn, Revil faced Degwin. Mika is then admitted to E

" We are ending this war, Degwin." Revil said with cold anger.

Degwin gave him a resigned look. Zeon's fall is now absolute.

After the attack, Revil had all EFF forces consolidate to attack A Baoa Qu, Zeon's last stronghold against EFF.

Operation Star One had 3 goals.

Disable or Destroy the Solar Ray.

The soon began after the arrival of the fleet. Gihren saw the fleet numbers and was surprised the Solar Ray didn't cut off their numbers. Due to technical difficulties, the Solar Ray can't fire in another week.

He must act.

EFF used the same strategy in Solomon, firing multiple missiles to create a Beam Dispersion field to disable Zeon's long range beams. But Gihren had learned such a strategy.

With an increased number of anti-missile platforms, EFF's first plan went out of the window fast.

This will be a prolonged battle.

EFF MS met Zeon MS in battle in the N field, direction towards Zeon homeland.

Seeing this, Gihren ordered half of S field forces, direction to earth, to bolster the N field defenders.

Meanwhile Kycilla Zabi arrived in the E field to join the battle.

Gihren's defense on the N field runs smoothly but it turns out for worse for the S field.

N field was a distraction.

The Whitebase together with other EFF ships from Solomon arrived for a pincer attack.

Forced in two fronts, Kycilla took command in the S field while Gihren tried to mop up the EFF forces in the N field. Unfortunately, EFF forces on the N field played defensively as they sent out volleys upon volleys of shrapnel to all advancing Zeon MS, forcing a stalemate.

A stalemate to buy time for the S field.

In the S field, it was an all out fight as the EFF forces raced to board the base Zeon forces fought fiercely to fend off the attackers.

Char in his Perfect Zeong, a massive New type Mobile Armor, fought against Amuro Ray in the Perfect Gundam.

Meanwhile, the Elmeth piloted by Lalah Sune supported Char but soon found herself locked in combat to the EFFs new Ace MS.

The GM Unicorns.

A GM framed with the armor of the Unicorn and multiple thrusters for mobility. It also sported the Unicorn's horn on its visor head. Fast and durable, this Ace MS immediately plowed through Zeon Zakus, Gelgoogs and Doms to assist the Gundam against two MAs.

Lalah Sune soon finds herself in a predicament as her Elmeth disabled in a combination of shrapnels and on point beam shots.

Upon seeing his partners MA disabled, Char retreated. Activating the Perfect Zeongs secret weapon, which splits its body and acts as independent drones, he fends off the GM Unicorns away from Lalah and rescued her.

His attack also surprised Amuro to the point of critical injury. Amuro's arm was cut off by an unfortunate beam from the detached limbs of the Char's MA. Char immediately returned to the fortress with Lalah.

In return, the GM Unicorns destroyed the MA limbs as revenge and rescued Amuro before he succumbed to blood loss.

With Char's retreat, Zeon forces of the S field began to falter as EFF advanced to the base.

Meanwhile, the stalemate on the N field slowly went to the EFFs favor as Zeon morale is low.

Upon receiving word of the S field forces successful advance, General Revil ordered an all out assault.

The Battle of A Baoa Qu is now decided.

Stuck between two forces, Zeon forces are forced to turtle up and hide inside of the base to wittle down EFF slowly and turn the tide.

It backfired immediately.

The GMs Unicorns immediately tore through their defenses and breached into the Zeon fortress with ease.

With enemies both outside and inside of the base, Kycilla Zabi ordered a retreat.

Gihren stopped her order.

Unable to bear the loss, Gihren urged his soldiers to fight to the bitter end. Kycilla argued against her brother for a tactical retreat but Gihren is disillusioned with the possibility of winning. An explosive argument erupted between the two Generals.

As the two siblings argued, Char arrived and assassinated the two with the Zeong's Head cannon.

With no one in command, Zeon forces collapsed and surrendered immediately.

The Earth Federation Force won.

After the war, Zeon fully surrendered against the EF.

But the Zeon will truly get their independence as Sayla Mass also known as Artesia Som Deikun took her father's mantle as Zeon's figurehead with the remaining Zabi's.

She hated working with the Zabi's but their cooperation is needed to end the war. Meanwhile, the Zabi's took a step back in leading the Principality of Zeon as their position is now being questioned at the result of the war.

Degwin Zabi retired and is now living on Earth in his retirement. From time to time, the old man would check on Artesia and give some help against the corrupt political field of the EF. Meanwhile, Dozzle remained as a General of Zeon. His loyalty and good heart made him a good ally and Ral assured Artesia of his character.

Meanwhile, the Whitebase returned safely on earth and its crew hailed as heroes.

All of its civilian turned soldier crew was awarded medals of valor of their bravery in joining the war that they should have no part in.

Amuro also got a bonus of a free prosthetic implant for his missing arm. Meanwhile, his Gundam was released from his possession as his tenure as a soldier is now over and it will be now handed back to the military.

But not everything is well.

Zeon is now divided into two forces. Neo Zeon, led by Artesia for a new and peaceful independence from EF and the Zeon Remnants, is a group of bitter Zeon soldiers who are dissatisfied with the results of the war even at the emergence of Deikun heir.

To answer this problem, EF created the Titans. A group to hunt down Zeon remnants and its sympathizers.

But this story would be another time.

Because the Unicorn Gundam and its pilot had pulled a vanishing act.

Comatose and unresponsive, Mika wasn't supposed to be able to move and his Gundam is also safely hidden away by Revil himself.

Imagine his surprise when the hospital Mika was in called him and reported the missing patient. A moment later, another call arrived and reported the missing MS.

Due to this, Revil formed a taskforce to investigate and recover the Unicorn and its pilot if possible.

Taskforce Unicorn was formed.

Amuro and Hayato joined the team as they decided to join the military upon hearing their friends MIA status.

Thus began the search and legend of the Ghost of the Whitebase.

Meanwhile, in a certain cornfield, a pure white armor with a single horn of a unicorn laid on the ground.

It stirred.

Authors notes

The OYW became an AU due to the unicorns existence. Attack of Jaburo never happened due to Char's huge disappointment in capturing the Gundam and the Unicorn and was taken under Kycillas command.

Ramba Ral never died and so is Degwin and Dozzle.

Sayla took the mantle as Zeon's figurehead and to lead the now Neo Zeon to peaceful coexistence.

But Titans and Zeon remants is still on.

Gryps War will happen but in another time and place.

Reasons why Zeon lost.

1. Momentum

Zeon had the momentum at the battle of Luom when they debuted the Zaku's in a blaze of glory but it was too late. Zeon fleet was majorly damaged was not in full power to go in an offensive to earth.

If the Zeon fleet didn't not take major casualties in this battle, Zeon could possibly take on earth and win the war in blitzkrieg.

2. Lost of Personnel

Revil noticed in his days of being a PoW in Zeon territory that Zeon had very young soldiers. It was. later confirmed that Zeon military took a major hit in the battle of Luom which Revil used to rally EFF to fight back even at the disadvantage of MS.

Thus the creation of project V, the creation of the Gundam.

3. MS designs.

Zaku's and most Zeon military equipment are highly adapted to space warfare. This led to poor performance on earth as EFF defended their territory fiercely against all odds against MS advantage of Zeon.

When EFF MS rolled in, the tides of war changed. The Ground type Gundam and GM variants are too versatile and we'll adapted to land combat. High manuver Zakus and Doms might be faster and with higher mobility against them but EFF sheer number of MS outpaces them.

4. Resource Management.

Zeon wasted a huge amount of resources to various prototype MS and MA. Kycilla and McQuvei are the most likely to blame for this due to their MS designs.

If Dozzle's plan of mass producing the Big Zam came forward, he would win the war on his own. Sadly, his siblings are too greedy.

5. Unicorn

With the Unicorn's presence, EFF MS production team gathered a whole lot of data.

This led to the creation of GM Unicorns which is just a variant of the GM striker but bulkier armor and higher mobility in space and production of the Scattershot Hyber Bazookas which was ahead of its time.

By the time of the end of the war, the Zeta Gundam and its Hyper Mega Launcher is already developed and now being mass produced for the GM Unicorns.
