Prompt #86: New Year's Eve on the Roof
Midnight Kisses

Elliot found her on the roof, minutes before midnight. She'd gotten stuck at the precinct on New Year's. Noah was currently at his place with his mom and kids. He'd driven over, despite the traffic, wanting to bring in 2024 with her.
They were in such a good place at the moment. Elliot had been doing everything he could to show her he'd changed. He was striving to be a stable force in the lives of all the people in his life.
To be a better man, in general.
But mostly, Elliot wanted to be the best version of himself for Olivia. He'd admitted to himself the depths of his feelings for her. Now all he could do was show her. She'd always believed actions spoke louder than words.
"Liv?"
She spun around, obviously surprised to see him. She was still wearing the dress from the party at his place. "Shouldn't you be sipping wine and toasting the family?"
Elliot strode over to her. He pulled off his coat and draped it around her. "Where's your damn coat?"
"I just wanted some fresh air."
"Yeah? Was freezing part of that?" Elliot slipped his arms around her, drawing her into him to provide more warmth. "It's almost midnight."
"Any resolutions for the coming year?" Olivia tilted her head a little, smiling at him as she rested her hands on his shoulders. "Anything you're looking forward to doing?"
Elliot smirked then laughed when she rolled her eyes. "I've got one resolution for the new year."
"Oh?"
Elliot brushed his nose against hers then tilted his head until their lips touched. "Making sure you know that you're loved. That you're the love of my life. You're it for me. And I'm hoping that compass around your neck leads you to me."
Olivia leaned in for another kiss, laughing when they could hear fireworks in the distance. "Happy New Year, El."
"You have any resolutions this year, Captain Benson?"
Olivia lifted her hand up, allowing her fingers to run along his jaw. "I can think of a few."
"Any involving me?"
"A few." Olivia pressed her lips against his. "Here's to a new year with the ones we love."
