Hello everyone and happy holidays. I haven't posted anything in quite some time. Busy life and all that. I know I have Paw Patrol and the mysterious pup awaiting it's next chapter, I didn't forget about it but lately I worked on others stories including this one. It is a multi-chapter story who is already almost finished. Today, I will release the first chapter.

I hope you will like it. Read and enjoy

The small town of Adventure Bay, despite having only three thousand inhabitants, was full of life as people took advantage of the weekend and the good weather. Children were playing in the parks or at the beach, adults were walking around doing their business, families were having fun inside or outside. On the town main road passing behind City Hall, a large and long vehicle stopped at a red light. It was the Paw Patroller. People who saw it from the sidewalk waved at his passengers, the Paw Patrol, who waved back from their seats. The road lights turned green and the vehicle continued his way toward the rescue team home. The Lookout.

The Paw Patrol had been in activity for eight years. The pups were now teenagers, from 13 to 16 years old, while their leader and owner, Ryder, turned 18 years old a few months ago. Their rescues in Adventure Bay and several other places around the world had made them quite famous among both humans and dogs. Of course, fame never was the objective for any of them even if some liked it a bit more than the others.

The Paw Patroller parked at his usual spot at the left of the tower. The door opened, revealing seven dogs as they exited it.

"Aaah. Home sweet home," Rubble said. "As much as I love a good trip, there is nothing better than being here."

"You know your food and the TV won't leave while we're away, right," Rocky joked, making the English bulldog roll his eyes at the mixed breed words.

"I find it sad we can never stay away for long. We couldn't spend a lot of time with Carlos and Tracker because of that," Marshall confessed.

"I know, but we have duties to the people of Adventure Bay and beyond that sadly can't be put aside for friendly visits. It's part of the oat we took," Chase said with a solemn voice.

"Yes," Zuma shouted while Rocky groaned in exasperation. The others looked at them, confused, so the chocolate Labrador explained the situation. "Rocky and I made a bet about whether or not Chase would say something overly professional and annoying at the beginning or at the end of the trip. Winner gets the loser's next three treats. Thanks dude."

The German shepherd looked at them, perplexed and vexed, as he made a mental note to get back at them for that.

"If it's any consolation, I don't find them annoying," Skye reassured her boyfriend as she cuddled him. "I'll help you prank them later," she added, whispering in his ear.

Chase winked at the cockapoo, a way of silently thanking her.

"Personally, I doubt I could have lasted longer in the jungle even if I loved the trip," Everest said. It was the first time she had accompanied them there. Despite the humid heat (something terrible for Nordic breeds like her), she tried to make the most of it by discovering this new environment and having fun. "Thanks for the cooling blanket by the way, Marshy."

She licked her boyfriend's cheek. Marshall became as red as his firetruck like he always did when she showed him affection in public. It's not that the dalmatian didn't like it, on the contrary, he just never was confident being the center of attention in public.

"Want a room Marshy," Zuma teased while Rocky and Rubble made kissing sounds.

"Hey! No one calls him that, but me." The husky glared at them.

Marshall snickered as the three males cowered in front of Everest ferocious eyes. One of the many things that came with growing up was romance. Chase and Skye have had a crush on each other since the beginning. Chase was terrible at hiding it the first years, yet he couldn't find the strength to confess to her while Skye preferred to wait for him, feeling like he wasn't ready. It wasn't until two years ago, when another dog from Adventure Bay asked Skye out for a date that Chase stepped in and confessed, afraid to lose her if he didn't. She didn't hesitate to choose him. As for Marshall and Everest. The former quickly developed feelings for the latter after she joined the Paw Patrol. They were always close, yet it took longer for Everest to see him in a romantic way. Because of his insecurities, Marshall didn't think she would ever return his feelings. He was proven wrong when, during a game of truth or dare, not long after Chase and Skye became a couple, Everest dared him to lick her muzzle (the equivalent of a kiss for dogs). Taking this opportunity to help his best friend, Chase suggested they go on a date and it was the start of their relationship. At first, Ryder was worried to see couples inside the team, because of the consequences it could have if the relationships went sour. However, he knew he couldn't ask his pups to ignore their feelings. So, he made them swear to keep their job and romantic life separated during missions. A promise they always kept so far. The others never were in a relationship. Zuma liked to flirt with girls but that was it, Rubble just wasn't interested and Rocky was still coming to term with his homosexuality.

"Arf Arf." A robot with the appearance of a dog named Robot-dog (original right?), whose main function was to drive the Paw Patrol large vehicles, left the Paw Patroller and went toward the tower. Probably to recharge its battery.

"Okay team," said Ryder as he walked out too. "I know we just came back, but I have to do some errands and have a meeting with Mayor Goodway. I'll also pass by Katie's, soI should be back in a few hours. Chase, you know what to do."

The mention of Katie made the pups smirk. They knew two had been dating for a while but had decided to keep it low-profiled.

"Yes Ryder, sir. You can count on me."

"Hey, why is Chase always in charge when you go out," Rubble complained. "Couldn't we take turns like we do for chores."

"Rubble's right Ryder. It would be more fair," Zuma added, liking that idea.

"No. For the simple reason I trust him to not turn the Lookout into a water park," he responded and they all winced at that memory. It had been one of the few times Ryder had been angry at his pups, more specifically at Zuma and Rubble. The two had used Marshall water cannons to turn the tower's slide into a water toboggan and had used a surfboard on it. Long story short, it ended badly and the slide had to be repaired. "You guys are free for the rest of the day once you take care of your vehicles. Have fun."

"You too," Chase responded, smirking at Zuma and Rubble. He always loved being the second in command, much to their dismay.

Ryder left on his ATV. The pups did as ask, moving their vehicles from the Paw Patroller to their parking lot and cleaning them before turning them back into pup houses. Everest had parked hers in the additional spot the team kept free for when members who didn't live at the Lookout came. She normally lived with her owner, Jake, at his ski resort on one of the mountains next to the town, but he was away visiting his parents for a few days. Sadly, they were both highly allergic to dogs so she couldn't go with him. Instead, she took this opportunity to spend time with her friends and boyfriend.

Once it was done, the group, feeling tired, decided to spend the rest of the afternoon in the lobby and relax. While using the TV screen to search for something funny to watch on Videoden, Zuma came across something.

"Hey, come look at that."

"(Gasp) Is it Apollo the Superpup related? Are they finally making the movie," Rubble asked excitedly.

It was a show the pups all loved when they were younger, with Rubble being the biggest fan. Over time, they moved on except him. He was devastated when the last season ended three years ago and still hoped for new content, even more since rumors about a movie came out.

"What? No dude. Seriously, grow up. Someone made a video about us. Look."

They walked next to him and looked at the screen. It showed the classic Videoden page with a video entitled: Paw Patrol. A unique rescue team.

"Whoa. I knew we had fans, but I didn't know they did this kind of thing," Rocky said. "It's…flattering."

"We should watch it and leave a comment. You know, to be nice," Skye suggested.

"Agreed," the other approved.

Each pup went to his bin bag with Zuma taking the remote with him. Once everyone was comfortable, pressed the button and selected the full screen mode.

The video began with a little catchy tune before showing the icon of an inspector with a magnifying glass.

"Hello everyone," a man's voice said. "Welcome to my latest video on this channel whose purpose is to inform you, people, about everything and anything. My name is TruthSeeker4You and today I will talk about a rescue team. You probably have heard of them since they made quite the buzz in recent years. The Paw Patrol."

"That's us," Marshall said excitedly.

The others quickly shushed him.

"This team stands out from the others rescue teams for different reasons. The main one being that it is composed exclusively of dogs (and a cat) except for the leader, Ryder Miles. Each member is specialised in a type of rescues or a particular set of skills. Their purpose is to help anyone in need whatever the task. Be it finding a missing pet, taking children to school, stopping criminals, etc. Pretty cute and impressive, right? I thought too at first. I did some research, out of curiosity, and what I discovered is quite different from what appears to be."

"Uh," the pups said, all confused.

"However, because of time constraint this video will focus only on the members living at the central base of operation called the Lookout located in Adventure Bay. Let's begin with the police dog."

Images of Chase in his uniform during missions or interviews appeared on the screen. Some were recent while in others he was younger.

"His name is Chase. The classic and overused representation of the strong and brave guy americans love so much. Yet, behind that mask, stand arrogance and uptightness. Speaking about himself at the third person, his wish to be the best on the team, his refusal of any mistakes. Sadly, this kind of personality in cops can only lead to situations like this."

Several images of police brutality appeared on screen. The last one showed Chase pinning a teenager on the ground who seemed scared. He was growling at him, his teeth visible and close to the boy's head.

"Police brutality has become a serious problem in our society and we have another example of it. Be careful around him kids.

"What the…," Chase shouted, shocked by what he just heard.

No one had time to say anything as the video continued.

"As rescuers, anyone would expect them to be qualified both physically and mentally for the job. Turns out, some aren't."

Images of Marshall were next.

The dalmatian eyes went wide in fear.

They showed multiple examples of moments where his clumsiness caused him to trip, fall or slam into his teammates or people.

"It is common knowledge the team's firefighter-EMT, Marshall, provokes accidents at least once a day. At least being the key word. It was even confirmed that he slams into his teammates almost every time they are called. Something which shouldn't be accepted considering the responsibilities weighting on his shoulder."

This time were shown images of burning buildings, cats stuck in trees and an ambulance.

"How can he possibly put out fires, reach people in danger or heal them if he can't even walk straight. This is a disaster waiting to happen and I don't understand how the Paw Patrol can take such a risk when lives are at stake. Of course, there are no official records of anyone hurt or lost under his care since it is a private organization. How convenient."

New images of accidents involving Marshall are shown. This time during missions.

"But…but." Marshall was almost crying at this point.

Seeing this, Zuma was about to stop the video, but froze when he saw the next images were about him.

"As for the mental aspect, it's another one who doesn't meet the basic criteria. I'm talking about the water specialist, Zuma. During the first six years of his life, he had a speech impediment. I spoke with a specialized doctor who described it as a language disorder called rhotacism and considered by some specialists as a mental illness. In other words, he's retarted. This is also proven by the test he took when he joined the team."

The screen showed what seemed to be a report card with Zuma's name on it. The picture is a bit blurry, so only half of it is readable. Red arrows pointed to the column showing the results.

"Those are Paw Patrol report cards of said test acquired thanks to someone who know them personally. As you can see, Zuma failed in moss disciplines like English and Mathematic. Once again, someone with such a condition simply shouldn't be trusted with people's lives, because we never know when it will make them do something that will cost them those lives."

Zuma's mouth fell wide open. He was too shocked to talk or move. So were the rest of the pups to the point none could think about shutting the TV off anymore.

"But they aren't the only ones trying to hide their true self. I discovered something simply…let's go with disturbing (no reason to be impolite here) about the recycling pup named Rocky. He's gay as in homosexual as in attracted to guys, or males in this case."

"No…no…no no no no," Rocky murmured, shaking as his secret, that no one knew outside of Ryder, Katie and the six friends alongside him, was spilled for the whole world to hear.

A image of him appeared next to a small screen-shot showing messages exchanged between Ryder and Katie where they discussed how to help him feel better about his homosexuality. It was clearly written black on white.

"The proof is right here. In these private messages I was able to acquire thanks again to that person. What does that have to do with rescuing? Not really anything. But according to researchers, the lack of protective setting given by racial identity can lead to identity problems. In which case, the individual will automatically try to fill the holes with what he or she can find. I believe this is what happened in this case since Rocky is a mixed breed."

The next images featured Rubble.

"There are however no known secrets about the construction pup named Rubble. However, English bulldogs like him have a history of aggressiveness toward humans and fellow canines."

Screenshots of newspaper articles, pictures of English bulldogs attacking people of other dogs and some charts with numbers scrolled on the screen.

"Last year, 61% of dog attacks in America were made by this species with 37% of them resulting in hospitalization for the victim. This makes another member of the Paw Patrol that parents should keep away from their children. Rubble is known also for his insatiable appetite. This wouldn't normally be a problem, except that he uses his job to get free food from various restaurateurs and common people from Adventure Bay every time he can. All the team sometimes receive treats, but in Rubble' case it is whole meals. Taking advantage of his position like that is something I personally find despicable."

Rubble whimpered, hurt by those words. It was now Skye's turn to appear on screen which made her gasp.

"Among the Paw Patrol, the pilot pup Skye was the first and, for a long time, the only female. There have even been critics about this on the web. Saying that, in a world where there are still strong disparities between men and women, promoting an almost male-only team of rescuers was discouraging for young girls. That it was favorizing a male-centered vision. Since then, other females have joined though we might be in the right to question why."

New pictures appeared showing Skye with one or several of the boys in different places. In each one, they were standing close to each other in ways that, without context, could be misinterpreted. Everest appeared too but only on a few.

"According to some rumors and those pictures, it would seem females in the team have another role beside rescuing. Pleasuring. Some users on a blog claimed to have spent a night with Skye and Everest when they visited Adventure Bay. They would have even confessed it was better than with their teammates. I believe the common term for that is whore.

The inspector icon came back.

"On a more personal note, I know it must be hard to hear such things about them. Yet, all aways, the truth must come first. Does it mean they should be put out of service? I personally think so, but in the end, it's up to the people to decide. This video was focused only on the main members of the Paw Patrol who live at the Lookout, but I might do another one about the other members if my viewers ask for it. This was TruthSeeker4You. Thank you for watching.

The video ended. Not a movement, not a sound could be heard in the Lookout as the seven dogs stood frozen. After ten second, another video of TruthSeeker4You was automatically loaded and began to play. Afraid to hear something else about them, Chase abruptly ran to the remote next to Zuma and shut the TV down. He looked at Zuma who had tears in his eyes. The Labrador suddenly turned around and ran out of the Lookout. He wasn't the only one to have been deeply hurt. They all were. Rocky and Marshall too were crying as the former left the tower and the latter slowly walked to the other side of the ground floor where he sat miserably. Rubble laid on his bean bag, whimpering. Skye and Everest looked briefly at each other before walking toward the elevator, their heads, ears and tails hanging low. They went up to the top floor while Chase sat, lost between pain, sadness and anger. He looked around and seeing their group, his friends, like that hurt him even more. As the second in command, it was his duty to react and help them, but he didn't know how. He didn't know what to do.

Trembling, he slowly activated his pup tag. "Ry…Ryder?"
