'Lucius Abraxas Malfoy you are sentenced to 5 years of house arrest.' Kingsley spoke to the room. 'Draco Lucius Malfoy you will be considered time served but if you get into any trouble, you will be put back in Azkaban, do you understand?'

'Yes, sir thank you.' Draco smiled at his news.

'Thank you everybody but please clear the court room. Guards, please take Mr. Malfoy out and start his release paperwork and Draco please stay here for a moment. I need to speak to you.' Draco nodded at Kingsley's request. The court room was clearing as Hermione walked up to the two men.

'Draco could you lift your shirt please?' Kingsley asked, Draco slowly lifted his shirt to show a small otter tattoo on his left rib area. 'So, your assumption was correct.' as he looked at Hermione. 'Draco this is a soul mark.' seeing Draco's confused looks. 'We don't want to enact the marriage law, so we enacted the soulmate charm on all of the younger generation to find compatible mates.'

'And she is mine?' Hermione nodded and lifted her shirt to show a beautiful pearl white dragon flying around on her ribs. Draco's eyebrow shot up.

'I didn't want Ron and Harry to figure it out, so I went, and had it colored and charmed to move, now it looks like the one we rode out of Gringotts.' Hermione confessed.

'I'm not marrying you…' Draco screeched.

'What my know-it-all mudblood not good enough for you?' Hermione growled.

'No, you don't have to marry Hermione,' Kingsley said trying to calm Draco. 'The mark is just there to show you who would be the best choice at this time.' Kingsley spoke.

'So, it could change in time?' Draco asked hopefully.

'There is a slight possibility for it to change in time but most likely this is your best option.' Kingsley said, knowing this was his best and only choice.

'I'm not doing it, I just got out of that horrid place, the war has just ended. I'm not getting married.' Draco snarled and turned to walk towards the guard by the door.

'Draco,' Hermione screamed, Draco paused. 'I didn't ask you to. This actually works out better for me if you didn't… I can continue my studies. I can get my masters and then my healers certificate. I can concentrate on my studies and not a pureblood aristocratic self-centered arsehole of a husband. Thank you, Kingsley, I have studying to do.' as Hermione turned and walked away.

'Morning Miya, class today?' Harry asked as he put a steaming cup of tea in front of her.

'Yea, doing my final test for ancient runes.' as she grabbed for the Daily Prophet.

'You might want to pass on that today.'

'Why?'

'Um, well Draco has made the front page again.'

'Why would that bother me?'

'Miya, I know about the soul marks, he is your match.'

'How? How did you find out?' she whispered.

'Well, I first saw it back in the tent and I was still in the court room. I know he refused to…'

'Well like I said it is the best for me. I can get all of my studies done.'

'But doesn't it bother you?'

'No not really… well maybe at first that he didn't even give us a chance but now… no I'm better off.' as she got up and left the room.

~o~

'Well what kind of trouble did you get into this weekend?' Lucius said as he picked up the Daily Prophet. 'Um, well I think you have made the biggest mistake of your life. She looks absolutely gorgeous, you shouldn't have turned her away.' as he studied the photo of the back side of the woman, a green backless dress with a pearl white dragon tattoo dancing along her spine.

'Who should I have kept?' Draco asked as he looked over to his father, to see Hermione's beautiful backside. 'Oh.'

'Draco, stop being the petulant child, she would have been a wonderful match for you. Well educated, beautiful and she looks like she could have been a pleasure in bed.'

'Father you are a married man, why are you perving on her. Mother would hex your bollocks off if she knew.' Draco grinned.

'Why am I hexing your father now?' As Narcissa walked in, Lucius ruffled the paper for her to look at.

'I just said our son missed out on a very beautiful witch.'

'Yes, I agree he did, she is gorgeous and would have produced beautiful and smart grandbabies for us. But you have gone and cocked that up. Your chances of getting anything better are gone, yes, I know she is your soulmate.' Narcissa frowned.

'Nope Kings said it was the best at the time and it will change.' Draco grinned.

'No, he said it might… and we all know that is very unlikely.' Narcissa pointed out.

'What is so wrong with Ms. Granger?' Lucius asked.

'Well… it was too soon after the war and me getting out of Azkaban.' Draco whined.

'She didn't demand marriage, did she? She knew you needed time. All you needed to do was take some time to get to know her on a personal level. Instead, you go whoring around Europe.' Lucius snarled.

~o~

'Oh, look Hermine has made the front page yet again.' as Lucius held up the Daily Prophet. 'And a very tasteful photo, as she is with the prince of...' Hermione was in a gold gown that hugged every curve of her body. 'Did you know she has masters in transfiguration, charms, ancient runes, arithmancy and potions? And a healer's certificate? And a muggle doctor degree. All in 7 years.' Draco just frowned and left the room.

~o~

'Granger, having a good day?' Draco drawled as he found her in Flourish and Blotts.

'Yes, I am, and you?'

'Good I was wondering if you would like to get some tea or dinner?'

'Why now Draco? It's been 7 years, and this is the first time you have reached out to me. What run out of whores to visit?'

'Ouch, but I guess I deserved that, so tea?'

'Sorry, I have an appointment to go to.' as she turned to leave.

'Hey, I'm trying so give us a chance.' Draco whined.

'Nope, I'm good.' as the door closed behind her.

~o~

'Thank you for agreeing to meet with me.' Hermione ushered her guests into her office.

'Well, we were a little surprised at the invite.' Lucius spoke as he helped his wife to a chair.

'I have been busy getting my masters and my healing certificate. I was in hopes of getting a little bit of help from you and in return help Lucius here.'

'Go on.' Narcissa said.

'I might have figured out how to remove my cursed scars.' as her hand went to her own arm. 'And if it works, we might be able to remove Lucius's.'

'Really? Remove it?' Narcissa chirped as her hand went to Lucius's arm. 'What about Draco's?'

'Well, it doesn't seem to affect his love life.' Hermione quipped.

'No, it hasn't. We are very embarrassed by his actions. You do know we would love to have you in the family.' Lucius spoke.

'I didn't even ask for marriage. I didn't even get to ask for friendship.'

'I'm so sorry for the way he has acted. We don't hold it against you to shun him for his actions. So, what do you need from us?' Narcissa asked.

'Well, for mine I need you as a family member of the curser and then I need a loved one.'

'Who will that be?' Narcissa asked. 'One of those handsome men we have seen pictures of?'

'Oh no they were just dates for the evening. So, it will be... Harry… he loves me, it might be as a sister but that should work.'

'Yes, I, we will help in any way possible.' Narcissa smiled.

~o~

'Well, I tried but she turned me down… she said she had an appointment. So, what do I do now?' Draco whined to his father.

'Well, let's see you shunned her for what 7 years? She might just give you a little piece of your own medicine and make you wait 7 years as well.' Lucius said with a smile.

'She can't I'm her match.' As he pulled up his shirt to show the slightly faded otter tattoo.

'Well, if you hadn't acted like a git, and make her wait 7 years to get your shite together and then expect her to just come running into your arm? Be a proper gentleman, behave yourself and she might not make you wait the full 7 years.' Lucius grinned.

~o~

Dear Hermione

I just wanted to apologize for my past behavior. Father says I should court you like a proper pureblood gentleman and write to you and maybe when you get back, we could be far enough along to start to plan a wedding.

I have seen that you have returned to school and gotten a few masters. Congratulations, but as the smartest witch of our time I shouldn't have expected anything less. So, what are your plans for later in life? I was hoping to start running Malfoy Industries here in the next few years.

Sincerely yours,

Draco

~o~

Yes, Draco, you should follow your daddy's suggestion, can you not think for yourself? And realize your own mistakes? but I'm not sure you can repair the damage you have done.

If you had just acted like a gentleman back, then. I would have asked you to help me study and get to know each other better. I also hoped you might have had the time to travel with me. Some of those dates I had to endure were miserable and the sightseeing would have been more enjoyable with a friend. Heck if you had helped me study you might have been able to also get your masters and healers certificate and we could have traveled the world treating the sick. Well, I have a patient to see.

Have a good day.

Dr Hermione Granger, HC, MD, Masters in- Ancient Runes, Arithmancy, Charms, Potions and Transfiguration

'Can you believe this?' as Draco waved Hermione's letter in front of his father's face. 'She just blew me off.' Lucius snatched out of his hands and started to read.

'Well, What? All of this is true. If you hadn't been a prat and treated her with respect. You would most likely have a friend and possible fiancé and multiple masters and a healer's certificate, off healing the sick around the world.'

'But instead, you are here whining to us.' Narcissa sneered as she looked up from the letter.

'Father what happened to your arm?' Draco asked.

'Oh, this it was nothing major just had a bit of surgery.'

'Surgery?' Draco sputtered.

'Yes, our dear Hermione has perfected a scar removal technique.' as Lucius unwrapped his arm.

'Oh, darling it looks wonderful, remind me to send Hermione a gift basket of bath salts and wine.' Narcissa said nonchalantly.

'You call her Hermione?' Draco sputtered.

'Well yes as we have been working together for some time now.' Lucius spoke.

'Yes, we helped her remove her scar and then she removed that…' Narcissa said pointing to Lucius's arm. 'It does look better than I thought it would. You can barely see the scar, Hermione said there would be a scar around the edge. Oh yes, she deserves the biggest basket they make.'

'Why didn't I hear about this?'

'Well, you were acting like an arse, so do you really expect preferential treatment?' Lucius snarled. 'She is brilliant and just think she could have been yours.'

~o~

Dear Hermione,

Yes, I need to atone for my actions without the suggestion of my father. I really was being an arse and should have stayed in touch and got to know you better. But please reconsider, I would love to work on a friendship and escort you on your travels. You could show me all of your favorite spots.

Sincerely Yours,

Draco

~o~

Nice try Lucius

I knew it wasn't Draco within the first few words. I'm sorry to say I have no feelings for your son. I have met someone who knows about my soul mark and is ok with it. We have done some research and I think I am no longer Draco's match, due to his rejection. The funning thing is his patronus is also a dragon and at this current time the dragon on my ribs resides in Romania at his former job.

Sincerely,

Hermione

P.S. How is the scar doing? You need to come in so I can check it out.

~o~

'Oh, look Draco.' As Lucius hands the Daily Prophet over to him.

Daily Prophet would like to congratulate Dr Hermione Granger, Mstr- AR, A, C, P, T. HC, MD. Has just patented her Scar Healing Salve and a Scar Healing Procedure. She will be traveling the world to heal some of the most gruesome scars. Mr. Lucius Malfoy highly praised Dr Granger for the removal of the mark on his arm.

'Dr Granger did a wonderful job, there is barely a scar now' Mrs. Narcissa Malfoy told us as she showed us. If we hadn't known that is where the dark mark had been would not have ever known it had been there, just a very faint line circling the area.

'Some dragon scars are not healed with normal magic but Dr Granger worked her magic and removed a scar I received during the capture of an injured dragon that had escaped the Gringotts bank a few years ago.' Charlie Weasley stated as he showed his back.

Dr Granger did say she will have a few appointments available here soon for those that received injuries during the war.

There was a picture of Charlie's before and after and a picture of Hermione, Charlie, Lucius and Narcissa.

'Well don't you four look all cozy?' Draco snarled.

'Oh yes, we had just returned from a lovely lunch with them.' Narcissa smiled at the photo.

'She still hasn't contacted me to let me know I can have this...' as he held up his arm. 'Removed.'

'Well, if you hadn't acted like a prat you might have been included in the invention of both the salve and procedure.'

'Have you even tried to befriend her?' Narcissa asked.

'No, she just blew me off.' Draco whined. 'And she seems awful friendly with Weasley in this photo.'

'Yes, he um… has been escorting her to some of her events.' Lucius spoke as he pulled the paper back and started to finish reading it.

'But isn't it supposed to be my job as her soul mate?'

'I think you lost that title when you shunned her for seven years.' Lucius snarled.

'But she is my…' as he pulled up his shirt to show an empty rib area. 'What where did it go?'

'Well Kingsley did say it could change and you got your wish… you lost it and a very beautiful, bright woman. Maybe you will be lucky enough to get a second chance for a new soul mate.' Lucius snarled at his son.
