Chapter 1: The Campaign Launch
It was the end of an uneventful day at Bill Watterson Elementary School.
Calvin grumbled as he got his belongings from his locker and began to head out.
"Bleghh, yet another day of total boredom and despair. I swear I need to find a way to spice things up around here that doesn't end in me getting in hot water." Calvin grumbled to himself as he began to head towards the buses outside, until he saw something that caught his eye.
He noticed a group of kids huddled around a table, looking to be signing something.
Intrigued, he strolled over to see what was going on, and was greeted with a sign that read, "STUDENT COUNCIL ELECTION SIGN-UPS".
"Student Council? What the heck is that?" Calvin remarked confused.
"Do you pay attention to anything at all?" Susie Derkins remarked as she passed by Calvin and scribbled her name down.
"Hey, I only pay attention to things that I find interesting." Calvin said defensively, "What's all this hubbub about anyway?"
"Student Council kinda runs like a government, but its all ran by us. We also vote to see who will run it." Susie explained.
"So... there's like a President and all that?" Calvin asked, trying to see if he understood.
"Yeah, and then there's also a bunch of other roles, like-"
"Who cares about the other ones! I'm gonna run for President! That way, I can make some well-needed changes around this wasteland... Then, slowly but surely, my power and influence to take over all aspects of the United States Government!" Calvin declared proudly.
"YOU?! Calvin, for one, the Student Council President doesn't have that much power, and for two, nobody, and I mean nobody, would vote for you!" Susie exclaimed.
"Oh get a grip Susie! You're just scared because you know that I'll destroy you!" Calvin shot back.
"Oh please twinky..." Moe said as he shoved through Calvin and Susie to signup himself, "I'm gonna be running for President as well, and I'll beat you both to a pulp, figuratively, and literally!"
"You morons are obviously delusional. We all know that I'm the best candidate for this job. I mean come on! Look at what this school has become! I can reinvigorate it and make this school a place worth coming to! You'll see!" Calvin exclaimed before he left. Susie and Moe both rolled their eyes.
"I'M HOME!"
Calvin was immediately greeted by the typical pounce from Hobbes.
"There really are a lot more ways you could greet me when I come home from school, and none of them include pouncing..." Calvin grumbled.
"But there'd be no fun in that! You're just a soil sport!" Hobbes exclaimed.
"We agree to disagree." Calvin remarked as he got up, "But now that you've had your fun, I need you to help me with some of my own fun."
"Will this fun involve a visit from the Secret Service?" Hobbes asked.
"Far from it. Plus those fools only went off of what one person said." Calvin replied back.
"So what is this 'fun'?" Hobbes inquired again.
"I'm running for Student Council President. I'm running against Susie and Moe, so it shouldn't be too hard to win, but I need a good campaign to win those kids over." Calvin explained.
"So you need me to be your campaign manager?" Hobbes replied in inquiry.
"Precisely." Calvin said in affirmation, "I need you to help me come up with great slogans, ingenious speeches, and most importantly, a lot of propaganda." Calvin noted.
"Why do you need a lot of propaganda?" Hobbes asked confused.
"Because I need to trick them into voting for me with a bunch of stuff that showcases me as being an angelic figure and a great leader, all while making Susie and Moe look like the devil." Calvin explained.
"Given your notoriety, I think that may be a bit difficult to prove." Hobbes remarked.
"How so?" Calvin asked confused.
"May I remind you of the Noodle Incident?"
"I WAS FRAMED!"
Principal Spittle was busy working in his office, when Miss Wormwood came in with the Student Council sign-ups.
"Did we get a lot of sign-ups this year?" Principal Spittle asked.
"Seems like a slight uptick from last year. As usual, the higher you go up, the lower amount of students that signed up. We only got three running for President this year." Miss Wormwood replied.
"Who are they?"
"Lets see... Calvin, Susie, and Moe."
Principal Spittle sighed.
"Well, I don't think that will be a very hard election for Susie to win." Principal Spittle remarked.
"You can say that again." Miss Wormwood said in agreement, "However just having to go through the process will be the major headache."
"I'm more worried about what Calvin will cause than Moe." Principal Spittle noted, "Calvin will do nothing more than attack those two, and then complain that its rigged when he doesn't win."
"No other school in the country will take that kid." Miss Wormwood sighed, "But maybe it won't be as bad as we think it will be."
"I would hope so, but with Calvin in the equation, there are no guarantees." Principal Spittle remarked as he let out a sigh, knowing what would be coming next.
