We're Sorry Mum and Dad
Years have passed and Bluey and Bingo are now 17 and 15 years old. One day they decide to reflect on their childhood and think of all the fun times they had playing games they made up with their parents. They can't help but laugh and think of how happy they were but then they start to think deeper and remembered that sometimes their parents didn't like some of the games they played and as kids they didn't understand why but now that they're older and know more they finally understand why. A lot of their games would sometimes include them getting into uncomfortable scenarios where they may get hurt or embarassed here and there. Their kid selves would of course never realize how far their games would go because their parents always went along with it and as kids they don't always get what may be embarassing or painful to grown ups and what's not because kids are all about being silly and high-spirited and not really meaning anything bad out of it. When they finally realize this they start to feel bad and decide to go talk with them and apologize for putting them into these scenarios.
Bluey: Hey Mum. Hey Dad.
Bandit: Hey there squirts.
Bingo: Dad you know we don't like being called that anymore.
Bandit: Aw but to me you'll always be my squirts, that's just how it is.
Bluey and Bingo: *annoyed* Daaaaaad.
Chilli can't help but chuckle.
Bandit: *chuckles* Ok ok what's up?
Bluey: We wanted to talk to you about something.
Chilli: Ok. Is something wrong?
Bingo: Well... *looks down feeling timid*
Bandit: Girls it's okay. You can always tell us anything. That's what we're here for.
Chilli: You're father's right girls.
Bluey: We just wanted to say we're sorry.
Chilli: Sorry? For what?
Bingo: For hurting you and embarassing you.
Bandit: What? Where is this coming from?
Bluey: Remember when we were kids and we always played these games together? Well we remembered how sometimes you wouldn't wanna play some certain games and we didn't understand why but we do now.
Chilli: What do you understand?
Bingo: Sometimes in our games we'd do things that would either hurt you or embarrass you and well at the time we really didn't get the idea that we were taking it as far as that.
Bluey: We just wanna say that we never meant it like that. We just wanted to use our imaginations and treat our games like it's reality. We thought it was fun like that. But we never thought of how it would treat you or how it would make you look and we just wanna apologize deeply for that.
Bandit and Chilli exchanged looks and felt sorry that their daughters were feeling this way.
Bandit: Aw come here you 2.
They all hug.
Chilli: You kids have no reason to be sorry whatsoever.
Bluey and Bingo: We don't?
Bluey: What do you mean?
Bandit: Listen, it's true that you kids came up with those antics and we'll admit that not all of them were our favorites. But the thing is, it was our choice to play along. You couldn't force us to play.
Bingo: That's true.
Bluey: Well then why did you if you didn't really like it?
Chilli: Because we value you kids so much that we always put your happiness and growth over our own, and when you're happy, we're happy.
Bluey: Mum, Dad..
Bandit: We knew you kids meant nothing bad of it. Otherwise we wouldn't have played along because that's teaching you to be bad.
Bluey: Right.
Bingo: Like when we played Hairdressers and pretended you had nits and had you do these extreme remedies to get rid of them.
Bandit: Oooooh ya now that was extreme.
Bingo: Sorry Dad.
Bandit: Hey don't be. Like we said it was my choice to play along especially to help you find your voice in that moment remember?
Bingo: Oh right I forgot that.
Chilli: Kids, being a parent means having to make sacrifices. Like we must do things that we probably don't like too much to help you shape into happy, healthy dogs. Even if that means putting us into uncomfortable scenarios.
Bandit: Kids are all about being silly and high-spirited that they don't even realize how much of that they are.
Chilli: Although it's hard at times, in the end, it's worth it. We regret nothing.
Bandit: What's past is past. We know we weren't the perfect parents. We could only do our best. Even we were learning new things everyday not just you.
Bluey and Bingo smiled so much knowing that their parents would really go all out for them, even if it meant making big sacrifices.
Bluey: Thanks so much Mum and Dad for always playing with us then and being there for us.
Bingo: We really cannot imagine what we'd do without you.
Bandit: We feel the exact same way about you kids. We wouldn't have had it any other way with you while growing up.
Chilli: We love you kids so much. Please never stop being you.
So we're all aware of how rough the kids' games can get in the show. I've come across comments on youtube and such saying that they feel bad for how much the parents have to suffer in how rough their games get and think that the kids are mean to them. Well I don't cuz like what the moral of this oneshot is it's cuz they're the adults who can decide what they do with their kids and they go ahead and play along and can decide when to put their foot down anytime. Like in the Hairdressers episode I get it was extreme but we saw Bandit's look of determination in his eye when he decided to finish the game when at first was thinking of stopping cuz he cares so much about the growth of his daughter. Plus that last bit wasn't painful, it was wet, dirty, and ticklish and you might be surprised with what I'll say next but I thought it looked kinda fun. I wouldn't mind having to get wet, dirty, and tickled for the sake of my kids' growth. But the rake thing I'd have to cut out cuz the thing is it feels different to Bandit cuz he's an animal with fur so that's bound to not really hurt him but it would hurt me cuz it would scratch my bare skin. Anyway like I said there's no reason to have to feel bad for these parents cuz they really do it to themselves when they play along cuz a kid can't make an adult do anything. More importantly they wouldn't play along with them if they meant bad cuz that's teaching them to be bad. These parents are of strength and endurance and I aspire to be just like them when the time comes.
