Cora giggled and played with her blocks. Eddie enjoyed watching Cora play with her toys and learn. She held out a block with a letter M on it.

"Mama…"

Taking the block that Cora offered her, Eddie smiled at her baby girl.

"Thank you, sweet girl."

Eddie hadn't noticed Jamie was leaning against the doorway to the nursery, watching mother and daughter interact.

"You know Ed, our baby girl is going to be very smart, I think. Now maybe it's coincidence, but she picked up the block with the letter 'M' on it and handed it to you."

Eddie ran a hand over Cora's soft dark hair.

"Well, she's going to take after her daddy then. What do you think? Do you think she'll follow in your footsteps and become a doctor? Or do you think she'll follow the family business and become a cop? She could just as well be just like her mommy. Sassy and strong."

Jamie stepped forward and sat down on the floor next to Cora and picked up another block, putting it on a stack she was haphazardly making. Smiling up at her daddy, Cora picked up another block and handed it to Jamie.

"Dada…"

Jamie gave a small laugh as she handed him a block with the letter 'D' on it.

"Well, I think we should have her tested, to see how smart she is."

Eddie gave Jamie a sideways glance.

"They say babies who are breastfed learn faster."

Jamie looked at Eddie and squeezed her hand.

"There is some scientific backing to that. But it also has to do with genes. According to dad, I was fed like that until I was two and a half."

Eddie went and sat down next to Jamie and wrapped an arm around his waist.

"Well, that would explain why you are so smart. I'd love you no matter what. You are the kindest, sympathetic, compassionate, sincere man I've ever met. I never pay attention to any of the ribbing your brother Danny dishes out. It's his way of showing he loves you. It's what he does. I love being a part of your family. I never had that growing up. I would've given anything to have a family like yours growing up. Maybe I would've had less of a hard time during my teens. I don't want that for her."

Jamie gave a nervous laugh.

"Yeah. Mara kind of put that into perspective for me the other day when I was having a really bad day. I don't want to think too far ahead here. She's only little for so long and then in the blink of an eye she'll be grown up. I just want to enjoy these years with her. Watch her blossom into a beautiful young lady. But right now, she's just barely walking and talking. We've got a lot of milestones to go through before we get to the difficult teen years."

Eddie gave Jamie a nod and watched as Cora got up and toddled towards her mother, sitting down in her lap.

"Mama…"

Jamie feigned being hurt by Cora's choice of which parent to go to first.

"Cora, baby girl, you want to go with mommy? What about daddy?"

Cora leaned up against Eddie and tried to hide her face in her shirt.

"Mama…"

Eddie knew that Cora was hamming it up for the both of them. Her and Jamie. Cora stuck a mouthful of Eddie's shirt in her mouth and chewed on it. Jamie had a teething ring in his hand and Eddie motioned for him to give it to her. Sticking her finger in Cora's mouth, Cora let go and grabbed for her teething ring. Sticking the teething ring in her mouth, she gave happy murmurs/coos and turned her gaze towards Jamie.

"Her gums are still bothering her. Her tooth should be coming in any day now. I really thought her eyes would be blue. But their hazel. My grandma had hazel eyes. I noticed when she's upset, she scrunches up her nose the same way you do."

Eddie looked at Jamie and rocked Cora a bit, she was starting to get sleepy.

"She does not."

Jamie nodded his head and ran a finger up and down Cora's right arm.

"She does. But it's an adorable little nose. We made a really beautiful baby, didn't we?"

Eddie indulged Jamie and nodded her head.

"We did, didn't we bub?"

Jamie gently pulled Eddie towards him for a small kiss. When the couple parted, they both looked down at the sleeping baby in Eddie's lap.

"She surprises us every day with the things she does and learns. I wouldn't trade anything for being with the two of you. There's nothing stronger on this Earth other than Diamonds than a mother's love for her child. That bond is unbreakable. The bond you share with Cora is something that I just don't have. The closeness you share with her is on a different level. Father's and daughters have bonds. But nothing like a mother and daughter. I look forward to seeing her grow up and I know she will make us proud. No matter what she puts her mind to. But for now, let's just enjoy her young years."

Eddie scooted closer to Jamie and lie her head against his left shoulder. The couple sat and watched as Cora drifted off to sleep. She whispered to her.

"We're here for you sweet girl. Now and always."
