Inside the secret agency HQ of Section 13, a lot of people were busy helping to rebuild the place after Strikemaster Ice and his crew destroyed it during Drago's demon chi fueled rampage. While surveying the construction crew, Jackie and his friend, Captain Black, head of Section 13, drank coffee while chatting. "We've been making great progress. With any luck, we could have the place back up and running by Halloween." Captain Black smiled.
"But do you think this place could survive another attack like Drago's crew brought?" Jackie asked with a little bit of uncertainty.
Captain Black chuckled fondly. "Jackie, we were able to survive the earthquake of '89." He smiled. "Many agents thought all that shaking would bring the outside world down on us. But we were left standing. If anything else happens, we'll be ready." That brought a smile to Jackie's face. "So, onto other news, what have you and your girl been up to?"
"Well, we actually just bought a house in North Carolina." Jackie explained.
"A house?! Wow, Jackie! Only dating two weeks and you're moving on up!" Captain Black joked. "Planning on buying the ring next month?"
Jackie smiled and shook his head. "It's not like that, Captain Black." He said. "Viper suggested that I could use a new hobby like renovating houses. We'll be flying back there soon to start working on it."
"Wow. My friend, archaeologist Jackie Chan now flipping houses with his badass girlfriend." Captain Black smirked. "Who would have thought? Just a few years ago, you were considering leaving this place. But now, you're on your way to the easy life."
"Thank you, Captain Black." Jackie smiled as he shook his friend's hand. "Anyway, I don't think I can keep this a secret any longer. I should probably tell Jade that me and Viper are dating."
"Well, no better time like the present." Captain Black smiled. "She's doing her training in the simulation room. Let's peek in there really quick."
Meanwhile, 12 year old Jade Chan stood toe to toe with what seemed to be a robot army with machine guns, something out of a Terminator movie. She was wearing a black jacket, black pants, and sunglasses. After their final battle with Drago, Jackie allowed Jade to train to become a Section 13 agent, if she keep up doing her homework and chores, which she kept up on. Every day after homework, Jade trains in the simulation room for 30 minutes a day. She started off on the lower levels of dangerous scenarios, but she amazingly aced them all and moved onto the mid-tier levels. If she kept this up, she would be a Section 13 graduate before the New Year comes.
"Ch! You think you scare me that easily? I crush robots like you in my video games!" Jade smirked confidently. "BRING. IT. ON."
With that, the robot army aimed their weapons and began firing, and Jade used the skills her uncle Jackie thought her to dodge the bullets. As soon as they ran out of ammo, Jade delivered a spinning heel kick to the leader, allowing all the other robots to turn off and collapse. "Who's the best 12 year old butt whupper?! JADE CHAN!" she happily boasted. "That's right! It's my birthday! Go Jade! Go Jade!"
"Excuse me, young lady!" Captain Black's voice came over the intercom, allowing the simulation to shut down. "When you're done boasting, your uncle has something he'd like to tell you."
Jade gulped, hoping she wasn't in any kind of trouble. Jackie can be strict. She sheepishly walked out of the simulation room and saw Jackie and Captain Black's smiling faces staring down at her. "I take it from your smiles that I'm not in trouble?" Jade asked with a sheepish smile, making Jackie chuckle.
"I have some very exciting news, Jade." Jackie said. "Me and your second idol Viper are dating."
Jade's eyes went wide in shock as she heard that. Jackie was worried that he might have broken her brain with the news. "O. M. G. You two are dating?!" Jade asked with a huge smile. "I'VE BEEN WANTING THIS TO HAPPEN WHEN YOU TWO FIRST MET!" she squealed in excitement, making Jackie smile as Jade began to hug him. "I can't wait for you two to get married! I want to be Viper's maid of honor!"
"Jade, one step at a time." Jackie smiled, patting Jade on the head. "Anyway, me and Viper will be going out to North Carolina in a few days to work on a nice, farmhouse."
"Wait?! ARE WE MOVING OUT OF SAN FRANSCICO?!" Jade asked with a mix of excitement and anxiety.
"No Jade. Nothing like that." Jackie said. "We're just going to renovate it and then hopefully sell it for a much bigger price. Viper thinks it could be a nice second hobby."
"Seems like a boring hobby to me." Jade said. "You two should have done rock climbing or white water rafting! Now that would be exciting."
Jackie smiled and shook his head. "Believe me, Jade. After the mess Drago and Shendu made over the years, I think it's time for some R&R." he said. "You, Uncle, and Tohru are more than welcome to come out to help us with the house next week."
"I still think it's a boring hobby." Jade commented.
A few days later, Jackie was packing most of his things, ready to go out to North Carolina with Viper. The two would stay in the house until it was completely renovated and ready to resell. He was in his old room at Uncle's Rare Finds, the antique shop that was owned and run by his uncle. After packing his last shirt, he smiled to himself and headed downstairs. "Bye Uncle. I'll see you next week." Jackie smiled as Uncle worked the front cashier. But his cheerful goodbye was met with a two finger smack to the head. "OW!"
"Nephew must not go to North Carolina! THERE IS BAD STUFF THERE THAT IS GIVING UNCLE THE WILLIES!" Uncle yelled.
Jackie thought his uncle was talking about the racist hillbilly family that tried to persuade them to not buy the house. "Uncle, please don't worry. It was just a bunch of hicks trying to scare us." Jackie tried to assure with a smile, but his response was met with another two finger smack.
"UNCLE IS NOT TALKING ABOUT RACISM!" Uncle barked. "Inside that house, inside those woods, there are dark forces at work to torture and possibly kill you and Viper. They do not like anyone living on their land. Please, heed Uncle's warning and do not go there, for you may never come back."
Jackie seemed deep in thought about it, but then brushed it off with a laugh. "Believe me, Uncle, after everything that's happened to use over the last five years, I think it's time we lay off the talk about magic and dark forces. I'll mail you, Tohru, and Jade your plane tickets in a few days. Bye!" Jackie smiled as he walked out the door.
"DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU!" Uncle shouted as Jackie hopped into the cab and it rode all the way to the airport.
Over in the farmhouse in North Carolina, Jackie and Viper began repainting the walls of the place, already hard at work at renovating the house to make it more livable for potential buyers. While doing so, Jackie had some music playing from his phone, allowing him and Viper to get into the beat while working. "Not bad." Viper smiled as she surveyed Jackie's job on one of the walls. "But you actually missed a spot."
"Huh? Where?" Jackie asked before feeling paint being flung onto his cheek by Viper. He then smirked as his girlfriend smiled playfully at him. "Viper…"
"Sorry. You know I can't help myself sometimes. I guess I still got a little bad girl inside me, even though I'm no longer a thief." Viper smirked.
"Well, I think we're making excellent progress for our first day." Jackie smiled.
"Yep. It almost feels like home to me." Viper smiled. "I should know, I actually grew up here."
Jackie was genuinely surprised that a former thief like Viper grew up in a state like North Carolina. "You did?" he asked.
"Yeah. You see, I was adopted." Viper explained. "My adoptive parents owned a nice farmhouse like this one. We weren't really rich and work was hard to find for my mom and dad, so they resorted to thieving in order to feed me and two younger brothers. I guess you can say that stealing runs in the family."
Jackie began to sympathise with Viper, a woman he first thought would be a bad influence on Jade. "Oh, I guess I can." He said.
"Anyway, my real first name was Serena." Viper said, much to Jackie's shock. "But at school, kids weren't really that nice to me, so I decided to change my name to something that might earn me a little more respect: Viper."
"I think that's a very nice name." Jackie said with a smile.
"Not so much to me." Viper said before changing the subject. "Did you tell Jade the news?"
"Yes, and she is over the moon about it." Jackie smiled. "But she believes that this is a boring hobby and thinks we should try extreme sports."
Viper managed a giggle. "Well then, after we sell this monster, we'll have to take her up on that, Baby Face." She smiled, making Jackie smile back.
After a hard day's worth of work, Jackie was now in the master bedroom, reading a new book he's actually been wanting to read for long time. He bought it the night before Drago broke free from Section 13, and clearly the hunt for the Demon Chi had evaporated all precious reading time. He flipped through the pages carefully with interest before Viper came into the room wearing a purple nightie. "Getting a good read, Baby Face?" Viper smirked, startling Jackie so much that he dropped the book on the ground. "Gee, I didn't think you'd ever get scared that easily."
"Sorry, but you should know better than to sneak up on people in the middle of the night, Viper." Jackie scolded lightly.
"I just thought you and I might have a little fun before your family comes in next week." Viper smiled, showcasing the nightie to her boyfriend, who began to smile warmly. "I picked this out just for you. You like it?"
"Actually, I do." Jackie said with a grin as Viper pounced on the bed and began to hold him down, pinning his arms against hers. "Is this some sort of new game?"
"Yeah, it's called, 'Who has the most control?'" Viper smirked, leaning down to place a loving kiss on Jackie's lips. But that's as far as they were able to get before they heard an inhuman growl coming from outside the house.
"Did you hear that?" Jackie asked, turning his head for a moment before Viper brought his focus back to her face. But then both of their focus was on the noise outside. "What was that?!"
"Sounded like some pigs." Viper shrugged, but suddenly, a loud pounding noise was heard from outside, startling both of them. Jackie then hopped out of bed and went downstairs to investigate it. He grabbed a flashlight from the kitchen drawer and went outside.
"Hello?! Who's out here?!" Jackie called out before gasping in horror over his trash cans all torn out. There was garbage spilled all over the front lawn. "Racoon? Bear?" Jackie was trying to think about any animal who might have come from the woods and caused this type of mess.
"No. This is way to big for a racoon." Viper said from behind Jackie, startling him. Viper was now dressed in pajama pants and a coat. "And there's no way that a bear could have done this. Like I said, I was raised here so I know nature well."
Suddenly, a pig's head was thrown at them, and Jackie grabbed Viper and moved her out of the way. The two gasped in horror, believing they had a target on their back.
"I don't understand why people would do such a thing." Jackie sighed as he got into his pajamas, wanting to forget what happened and get some sleep.
"Hey, this is the south, hon." Viper said as she slipped off her slippers. "They just got rid of the Confederate Flag, and we're practically an interracial couple. We're always going to encounter racism."
"Do you honestly think it was those hillbillies who lost the auction?" Jackie asked, laying back down.
"Well, unless you have a better idea on what's going on." Viper shrugged.
Jackie then began to think about Uncle's warning, and now regretted not having listened to him. "When I left San Fransico, Uncle warned me that there were dark forces in this area."
"Jackie, do you really expect Shendu and his bratty son to pop up out of the Demon Netherworld and come out here all the way from where they were buried so they can scare us?" Viper smirked, laying down next to her boyfriend. "We beat those demons and saved everything. We were not scared by a family of dragons so we shouldn't be scared by horrible racist folk."
Jackie managed to smile at that. "You're right. But if anything else happens, we have to notify the police." He said, kissing Viper on the cheek before turning off the light. "Good night." The two began to fall asleep, not knowing that things were actually about to get more scarier.
