I look at the title of news paper :" the brutal murder finally apprehended." Even though we don't have murder in our city for so long but the word still dread me . I look at the photo of the murder and I feel that I somehow know him but I don't remember how

At the same time , I feel that is also a bad idea to tell the man that because something awful maybe happened .

"Do you know him?" He asks again.

"No." I shrug my shoulder and trying to act casual .

"Really? Are you sure ?" He narrows his eyes

I get myself straighter . Candor does not only speak the truth but also they can tell who are lying or not.

"Yes really , I don't know him." I say cooly.

"You are lying . I can see it in your eyes." The man is angry now .

"You can't." I directly look into his eyes

I don't think that he can see that I am lying again. I already act so confident. The bus stops and he gets up.

"If you know him, you can safe me . You can safe me." He is literally yelling at me

"Well I don't."

I wake up with guilty in my stomach. I am sweating already. Tori takes off the electrodes from both of us and stands right beside me

"I am sorry . Please excuse me , that is perplexing." She sighs and walks out of the room.

Perplexing? How can a result be perplexing . I must have done something wrong even it is in my brain. I rock back and forth. What if they tell me that I didn't ruled out for any of the result, so I have to stay on the road like the factionless .

I can't afford to do that because living factionless is worse than dying. Finally door opens and tori comes back in. She looks as pale as a sheet of paper .

"I am sorry to worry you Celeste ." She sits down again . "Your test result is inconclusive."

"What is that even mean!" I am over emotional now

"At regular stage , people will have one result by ruling out the rest. In your case only one has been ruled out." Tori shakes her head

One ? What that even mean or how is that even possible

"How is that even possible ?" I say

"At beginning, you didn't choose the knife or the meat which can't tell me anything. However your strong alignment with the knowledge of the dog shows me that you can be erudite . You runs after the dog rather let it attacks the little girl shows me that you are abnegation and dauntless . However when the man tells you that the truth can save him, you still refuse to tell the truth." She says

"So you don't know what is my result?" I raise my eyebrows

She pinches her mouth together for a little while

"Yes and no . My assumption is that you match with abnegation, dauntless , erudite and Candor ." She sighs . "This kind of people , we call them : divergent."

"What is that?" I say

She drags me toward the door and pushes me out of the door

"You better go home now . I manually reported your result as abnegation. Remember that divergent can be extremely dangerous." She closes the door behind me

Why a test result can be dangerous? Anyway I am not going to tell anyone the result so I don't care . I walk out of the school. I can't take the bus because if dad finds out that I am home earlier, he will ask me question. Instead of taking bus , I decide to walk

I walk in a slow pace so I can arrive at home later than I suppose to . After ten minute of walk, I arrive at the Factionless sector . They are living near the sewage system and they don't even have enough of foods

"Beautiful lady, do you have something that I can eat?" A factionless man grabs my arm. "I am so hungry."

I reach into my bag for a bag of dried apple slices . That is the exact reason why my dad always tell us to put foods in our bag .

"You are so pretty but rest of you is so plain." He grabs my hand . "You are so young to walk alone."

"I know that I am young but I am 16." I try to resist .

"Oh that mean tomorrow is your choosing day?" He giggles . "I wish that you make the right decision ."

He let go of me and takes the apple slice from my hand . I start running away

When I reach home , mom is already at home . She is sitting there making cloth for the neighbour kids

"Welcome back , how is the test." Mom asks me to sit down

"It's good ." I smile at her . Even know I get Candor result but I still can't be Candor because I lie too easily.

"Good , anything wrong?" Mom narrow her eyes . "Were you even awake during the simulation)"

I don't know how to say that . I know that the simulation is fake .

"I don't know . I was scared after all." I say

"Okay, tonight I will make dinner . You can go rest." Mom brushes my hair with her finger tips.

"No mom , I should make it." I stand up. "I just need to take a shower now ."

I walk into the house and walk upstair . Beatrice and Maria are doing homework with Caleb

"I am back." I sit down beside beatrice . "How is the homework doing?"

"Yeah we are doing good . You look tired sister ." Maria is worried . "Is everything okay?"

"Yeah I am fine . I have to take a shower then start dinner." I say

I walk to my room. Tonight is the last dinner that I will ever have with my family. I get into the shower and let the warm water runs on my skin. Why Ted told everything ? Is that he thinks that I will like him after all?

After I finish my shower and I get back downstair . Ted is with my dad .

"Good afternoon Celeste ." Dad kisses my forehead . "Is everything going okay?"

"Yeah sure dad ." I nod at him. "I am going to make dinner now ."

I walk into kitchen to start cooking. I defrost six pieces of chicken and beans . Caleb comes into help me

"You look tired sister . You should go have rest ." Caleb says

"I am fine ." I shake my head . "I can do it."

"You need to rest." Caleb insists

In the end , Caleb is the one who makes the dinner . We sit around the table .

"You should rest after dinner ." Dad says . "You look so bad."

"Okay yeah I know it dad . The test got me ." I shiver ."especially the dog."

"Oh okay ." Dad looks at mom for a minute . "Then you should be resting more ."

The second day comes so quickly and I and my family go together to the ceremony. When we arrive the hub, I get nervous . People are everywhere . The elevator is full of amity so my dad decides to give the space to them so we take the stair

I feel peaceful with my old faction even though I have to leave with no choice . I start to feel tired when we reach the entrance of the ceremony.

When we get inside , people start to laughing and talking.

"Son huge ." I exclaim

"The hugest room in the city so far." Mom nods at me .

I walk to the last row . I see Alan is standing there too.

"You know what decision that you have to make Celeste ."! He grabs my wrist.

"It's none of your business." I push him away. "We are done."

I can't stop my tears from coming off but I can stop looking at him.

The ceremony begin, this year is erudite's turn. I and the leader of erudite are very good friends . Alan always get jealous because of us . Jason coulter walks on the stage

"So I believe the faction system is a living being and all of you guys are the cell which build the system. I believe our brighter future belong to those who know where they belong." Jason claps his hand . "Let's us begin."

He draws a piece of paper from the box . He opens it.

"Celeste prior ." He smiles . "Always my lucky girl."

I walk toward the stage and he hands me the knife . I take it.

"You know where you belong right?"jason says

I take the knife and cut my hand . I don't know what choice do I have . I breath heavily and stretch my hand out. The blood drops into the dauntless bowl

"Dauntless." Jason says it like he is chocking.

I walk off the stage . I look at mom and dad . They don't seem surprise . They must know that I have no choice but choose dauntless .

"Next one ." Jason says like he is exhausted .

"Welcome to dauntless." Zeke gives the seat to me . "I will see you later."

"James tucker ."

James tucker walks toward the stage . I give him a thumb up. He nods back to me . He takes the knife from Jason and cuts his palm opens without difficulty .

Then he puts the hand above something else . No, he didn't put it above dauntless bowl at all

"Candor."

He transferred! My ear is ringing. Dauntless is the second loyal faction within the five factions .

"Oh god , how can he do that!" People are shouting.

"Quiet now . We have to go this faster."Jason is smirking.

People are going through very smoothly. Most of people choose to stay in their original faction . I sit beside Uriah

"It's fine Celeste ." Uriah is trying to comfort me . "Your parent will understand your decision."

"Thanks Uriah ." I smile at him. "Is everything okay with my ex boyfriend?"

"You mean Alan davis ?he is a little bit off ." Uriah shrugs . "Don't know why. "
