Christmas and New Years Day were over in the blink of an eye. And all the students were back at Angel Grove High. Students were gathered around the lockers talking about their Christmas break. Aisha and Kat were looking at Kimberly's engagement ring. Kimberly wasn't the only one with exciting news; Kat had some too. Billy finally asked her out.
"My mom works with Billy's mom at the bank," Kat explained. "They had a Christmas party at my house a few days after Christmas. Billy and I were sitting on the couch watching Boy Meets World. Then during the commercial break, he told me that he really liked me and asked if I would be his girlfriend."
Bulk and Skull were running down the hall with drum sticks banging on the lockers. One of the band students walked down the hall with Mr. Kaplan. As usual, Mr. Kaplan's was red like a strawberry getting ready to explode.
"Bulk and Skull, in my office now!" Mr. Kaplan shouted. "You have three weeks detention! And give Cody back his drum sticks!"
Skull handed Cody back the drum sticks and followed Bulk to the office.
Tommy and Kimberly arrived home and Jan was on the phone. She was on the phone with Caroline Hart.
"Kimberly, your mom's on the phone," Jan said.
Kimberly rushed over and took the phone. "Mom, guess what happened over Christmas?" Kimberly said excitedly. "Tommy and I got engaged. I can't wait to show you my ring. So, are you on your way home-"
"-that's what I am calling about," Caroline interrupted. "My business trip is going to be longer than expected. I have to fill in for someone and then I have to get training in order to get a position that I want. Are you going to be okay?"
"Yes, mom, I am okay," Kimberly lied as a tear ran down her cheek. Tommy walked over to her and put his arm around her. "Just be careful. Have you seen or heard from dad?"
"He is out of town," Caroline answered. "He should be back in a week or two. I have to go. I love you ."
"I love you too," Kimberly said. "Bye, mom."
"Kim, I'm so sorry," Tommy stated as he pulled her into a hug. "I couldn't help from listening. Something is odd about your mom. Why would she fill in for somebody else?"
"I don't know," Kimberly answered as she wiped her eyes. "That is just so unlike her."
"Why don't we go do something fun?" Tommy suggested as he stroked her hair. "I got a call from Aisha and she was inviting us to go horse back riding."
"I have never ridden a horse before," Kimberly confessed.
"You can ride with me," Tommy answered as he kissed the top of her head.
The rangers didn't get to go horse back riding after all. They were called to the command center. A new enemy had arrived. Rita's father, Mastervile. To battle this new enemy, Zordon and Alpha created a metallic armor. This was a sparkly coat that covered the suits. This armor could increase strength and speed, and protect them from injuries and magical attacks.
"We have also discovered the Zeo crystal," Alpha stated. "If we can get a hold of it, it can make you all much more powerful."
"But, it is under Zedd's palace," Zordon warned. "It can only be retrieved by someone who is pure of heart and someone who was never evil by choice."
"I'll go," Kimberly said taking a deep breath.
"I'm coming with you," Tommy declared taking hold of her hand. "I am sure that crystal is guarded and it was take more than one person to fight off the tengas."
"Tommy, Billy and I are coming to," Kat said. "He has created a device that can turn us invisible for an hour. And He has another device that can freeze Rita and Zedd for 90 minutes. While we are there we are going to steal back the falcon zord."
"Then we will freeze Rita and Zedd," Billy continued. "That should give you enough time to retrieve the crystal."
A beam of pink and white light landed at Lunar Palace. Kimberly removed her helmet and looked around the corner. Rita and Zedd were on the balcony looking through Rita's telescope.
"Billy said to wait for him and Kat to get here," she whispered to Tommy as a beam of blue light appeared across the room in a dark corner. A few seconds later a darker pink beam of light landed next to him. They backed further into the darkness and Kat pulled a device out of her pocket. She pointed it at herself and Billy. Both of them vanished. "That's the signal."
Kimberly put her helmet back and followed Tommy to the bottom of the palace.
"What's that we have visitors!" Zedd exclaimed. "Goldar go get them!"
"Not today, Rita and Zedd!" Kat cried.
Tommy's communicator went off. But, no one was running towards them. "This is Tommy, go ahead," Tommy answered.
"Tommy, Billy and I froze everyone in Zedd's throne room," Kat explained. "Billy and I have stolen back the falcon zord. We made it back to the command center. We will be watching you through the viewing Global and everyone in the throne room. Our device should give you enough time to get to the zeo Crystal."
"Tommy, Kimberly, things down in the cave appear to be illusions," Zordon warned. "Things will no be the way the appear. However, you will know the Zeo crystal when you see it."
Tommy and Kimberly walked down a cold narrow dirt path. There were torches on the walls and as they walked by each torch, a flame mysteriously appeared in the torch.
"How much longer, do you think we have until we find a Zeo crystal?" Kimberly asked as she started to shiver.
"Hopefully, not that much longer," Tommy answered.
Suddenly Kimberly saw an image of Tommy reading a break up letter. "He's kind and caring," Tommy read with tears in his eyes. "You would really like him. Everything would be perfect, if it wasn't for hurting you. But, I have to follow my heart. I'll always care about you, Tommy. Please forgive me-"
"-No!" Kimberly cried. "I didn't send that letter!"
She started to run after the image of Tommy. Until, someone grabbed her hand. "Look at me, Kimberly," Tommy said as he removed his helmet. "It's not me. I know you wouldn't send me a letter like that."
Kimberly removed her helmet and gazed up into his chocolate eyes. "I just can't bear the thought of loosing you," she answered taking a deep breath.
"You won't loose me," Tommy assured her. He pulled left glove off revealing the engagement ring on her finger. "You're mine and we will get married soon."
She didn't say anything. All she did was cup his face and started to kiss him. Tommy cupped her face and pressed his lips against hers, deepening the kiss. Their kiss was cut short when a bright light came from a rock. It was a triangular shape with an odd looking top. Tommy and Kimberly walked closer to the crystal and saw it was six crystals combined into one. All the tops had a different shape. A circle, double bars, a triangle, a square, a star, and a heart.
"This is it," Kimberly gasped as they put their helmets back on. "Now we need to get it out of here."
"We will grab it together," Tommy suggested.
They reached out and pulled the crystal out of the rock. The cave started to collapse and they teleported back to the command center. Zordon revealed that Mastervile and Zedd were after the crystal. All of the rangers went outside and broke the crystal into six parts. Billy opened up a time hole and they dropped the crystals in the hole, scattering them across different points in time.

I know the way the zeo crystal was retrieved in the show was different. But, I wanted to do something different and show what happened on the way down to get the crystal.
