Luna Lovegood had no fear this time as she sat alone in the all too familiar cellar dungeon of Malfoy Manor. She hummed lullabies as she leaned against the cool stone wall and took solace in the power she felt bubbling within. Without an ounce of doubt, she knew she had nothing to fear from these lesser wizards. The love she felt for the life within her overflowed through her and intertwined with her own magical energy. No harm would come to her or the life she carried, and if she had anything to say about it, nor to the man she loved dearly. She needed no wands or potions or even incantations now. She continued to hum, feeling the protective magic swelling around her with the melody.

She played with the ring on her left hand and smiled as she waited for them to come. They may have her wand, but they did not take her power.

She could not tell if it had been minutes or hours, but Lestrange did come. She felt his noxious presence before he opened the heavy metal door and leered at her behind his unkempt beard.

"Your Dear Potions Master has come for you as predicted."

Luna glanced toward the ceiling wondering if her warning had made it to Severus, and took a deep breath. "I don't believe he is the one you should be worried about." She stood and dusted off her blue leggings.

"You?" Rodolphus stroked his wand as he approached.

She tilted her head, studying the dark energy around the man. His aura was riddled with anger and spite, no light at all. A pity. No one should be that lost.

"Tell me, did you know all along," Rodolphus pointed the wand at her chest. "That Severus was working against Lord Voldemort?"

She smiled as she looked from the wand tip to the wizard's spiteful eye. "I was able to see what your Dark Lord could not."

"Is that why you find yourself in this predicament now?" He sneered, jabbing his wand in her direction.

She tilted her head the other direction, her brow tightening in question. "Happily engaged to a man I care about with a baby on the way? I suppose it is." She smiled.

Rodolphus's face twisted in apparent irritation with her response. "Are you aware of Severus's tainted bloodline?" He laughed. "A shame to dilute the Lovegood pureblood heritage, don't you think?" He moved closer, a look of possessiveness in his bloodshot eyes as he lowered his wand.

"What has that pureblood legacy gotten you, Mr Lestrange?" She stepped back and watched the confusion flash across the wizard's face. "Your wife is dead, your estate is gone, your Dark Lord is vanquished, you have been condemned to Azkaban, and you have no descendants."

"Mind your tongue, foolish girl." He hissed.

Luna shook her head as she rubbed her black opal on her left hand, feeling its calming presence. "Blood purity is a poor surrogate for power," she said softly. "Severus Snape is probably the most powerful wizard alive right now. So no, I have no worries about his bloodline."

Rodulphus raised his wand, eyes wide as he pointed it at her chest. "Crucio!"

Luna clenched her jaw as she focused on nothing other than being a barrier for the life within her. The torturous spell hit her chest, swelled, and moved outward from her, but the pain never came.

Rodolphus's anger fell away from his face to be replaced by a look of shock as his own magic rebounded from her onto him. He crumpled to the floor as the agony overtook him.

Luna felt his anger mix with her own, feeding the dark magic as the wizard writhed before her. All the grotesque things he had once whispered to her in this very room echoed in her head as she looked down on him. All her fear for herself and her future son arose and poured out from her and into him.

She could not hear his cries to stop.
