"I've heard of them, who hasn't? But unlike you, I'm not a geek, so I never watched the show. What can you tell me?"
"That alot of the show was probably very inaccurate because it included Xena knowing people who didn't exist at the same time. Or in very different ways. Caesar was an old man by the time he met Cleopatra, but they're both depicted as being in their early thirties in the show. Also, there was a period were Xena was capable of killing gods. Since those gods are still around in our time, that's probably also not happening. This is a time before the Accords, so the gods often walk openly among the people. Remember back in the Warehouse where I said Zeus was a pervert? He is, boys, girls, men, woman, animals. All fair game, as far as he's concerned. Also, both he and Ares like to disguise themselves in an effort to seduce someone. And you're hot."
"Warning received. What can you tell me about Xena and Gabrielle themselves?"
"Like us, they're soulmates. They eventually acknowledge that fact. Unlike Deadboy trying to redeem himself of Angelus' crimes, Xena really does have crimes she's trying to redeem herself of. She was known as the Destroyer of Nations. She lost a brother during an attack on her village when she was a teenager. Caesar betrayed her and crippled her. A healer restored her legs."
"How much damage did she do as the Destroyer of Nations?"
"She challenged Rome itself and like Boadicea herself, she came close to succeeding."
"Okay and Gabrielle?"
"Also known as the Battling Bard of Podedia. Basically a storyteller and a good one too. Very able fighter, but not on Xena's level. Mostly because she doesn't want to be, not because she couldn't. Both are smart and adaptable. Xena may not be entirely sane. After everything she's gone through, who could blame her. Like me, there's a darkness in her that she acknowledges and fears. She'll use it when she has to and Gabrielle has-been known to be able to pull her out if she goes too deep."
"They sound alot like us. At least in some ways."
"More then you might think. It's possible Xena is Ares' daughter. It was never confirmed one way or another on the show, but there were hints. And Ares definitely has a thing for her. The gods often get frisky with each other."
"Versions of our parents are here, aren't they? And given that we're made from their blood, sooner or later, they're going to sense us."
"Yeah, they are. Artemis isn't a virgin goddess here, she's had at least one kid and she's the patron goddess of the Amazons. Xena was largely responsible for the destruction of the Amazon Nation, now they're scattered tribes. I think those soldiers might be a little too much for the both of them. Want to join the fight?"
Cordelia didn't answer with words, just bent down and pulled out her daggers. She snapped the bases together and twisted, then extended them out to make a staff.
"She's not the bad guy anymore, right? Then I say we give her a hand. We may not be in her league but we can still help."
"That we can."
Xena and Gabrielle were trying to fight the soldiers while protecting Ephiny, an Amazon sister of Gabrielle's. Ephiny was heavily pregnant and in labor. To add to her current emotional state, her husband, a Centaur, had been murdered in front of her. Suddenly two oddly dressed teenagers appeared. The girl wielded a doubled bladed staff and the boy two axes. They fought well and had more training then Gabrielle.
"Who are you?" She called out, when she saw them attack the soldiers. "Why are you helping us?"
"The odds are not in your favor, Warrior Princess. We're not the best fighters in the world, but we refuse to stand by while people are being hurt."
"You know who I am or was? I haven't heard that title in a while."
"I know who you were and I know who you're trying to be. Your remorse is genuine, I believe that. You deserve the chance to try." A moan had him glancing back and his eyes widened when he saw Ephiny. "Ephiny, the Amazon. Cordy! Pregnant woman behind us, she's in labor! Help Gabrielle guard her!" Xena saw the girl move to help the injured Gabrielle protect Ephiny.
"How did you know who she is?!" She asked suspiciously.
"I am the One Who Sees. I See what others do not."
"Gabrielle is injured and Ephiny is in labor. We're caught in the middle of a civil war."
"I don't know the particulars, but we need to get both of them to safety. My name is Alexander, you can call me Xander, my girlfriend's name is Cordelia. Time to end this." And he snapped the two axes together to make one and Xena saw it disappear. The boy moved forward and pushed his hands toward the soldiers. They were flung back away from them.
"Take the girls and go, Xena! I can hold them off."
"We're going to need to talk. I haven't seen power like that in a long time."
"I promise, I'll try to answer your questions."
Xena turned to the others. Cordelia was doing a good job holding off the few soldiers that were near them. Gabrielle was trying but her injury was bad and Ephiny was definitely in labor.
"Time to go." She said.
"Go!" Cordelia said. "I'll be right behind you."
Xena helped Ephiny up and all but carried her and Gabrielle as Cordelia protected their backs. She could see the boy, Xander holding off the soldiers. Then she saw an arrow pierce his side from behind. There was no way to help him. Her hands were literally full. She heard Cordelia suck in a breath behind her and knew she'd seen it too. But she held it together. Good, now was not the time.
