Alastor didn't let anyone take a pause he told Albus to keep the book going. He wanted to get to his introduction and the end of this book quickly.
CHAPTER FIVE—WEASLEYS' WIZARD WHEEZES
Harry made a face— "I hate Floo traveling."
"Apparating is better but if you're not good at it, it's a fucking nightmare."—Tonks said.
"Ton-Tongue Toffee," said Fred brightly. "George and I invented them.
Mrs. Weasley clicked her tongue, and the twins gave her an annoyed look.
"Impressive"—Dumbledore said— "But Amelia is correct, you should have waited for another occasion."
Bill and Charlie shared an amused look— "Well let's see how Harry described us."
Harry flushed a little.
Charlie laughed—"Well Harry just said I'm the strongest Weasley."
"He said stockier."—George said—"That doesn't immediately imply stronger."
Sirius laughed at Harry's flush face—"You are so awkward Harry."
—"I don't know how this is relevant."
"Agreed"—Snape murmured.
Harry had always imagined Bill to be an older version of Percy:
"See Percy you are bringing bad fame to this family"—Ron said.
Percy glared at him— "What, a stable job? something tells me only the first three will achieve that."
Bill sent both a hex — "Enough!"
—Ron's ears went red.
Bill was — there was no other word for it — cool. long hair wearing an earring with what looked like a fang dangling
Remus smiled, he looked at Harry— "That's pretty much how Sirius looked back then."
"Don't say it like that, that makes me sound old."
Harry gave them a half smile— "Your knee does crack."
Sirius half-glared at him but relaxed. He wanted to keep the confrontation for someone else and not them, but he knew the three of them would have to sit down and keep having difficult conversations.
"You dropped it on purpose!" roared Mr. Weasley. Mr. Weasley shouted. "That sort of behavior seriously undermines wizard–Muggle relations! I spend half my life campaigning against the mistreatment of Muggles.
Fred and George once again apologized to their father and Mr. Weasley nodded at their words, but it would be best if he had another conversation with them, he also remembered the fights they had over this and the incidents before the cup and he didn't know if his wife would be able to handle it.
"No, we gave it to him because he's a great bullying git," said George.
Kingsley sighed— "Here is another comment of their behavior going unnoticed."
Mrs. Weasley looked at her son— "I hope this serves you to finally understand your behavior is not ok."
Sirius rolled his eyes, Molly sounded exhausting.
WEASLEYS' WIZARD WHEEZES Joke stuff, I never knew they'd been inventing all that . . ."
George and Fred smiled at Ron, they might take the Micky out of him sometimes, but they knew he supported them. Mrs. Weasley had her lips pressed and Bill sighed, another family meeting was in order.
"Only, most of the stuff — well, all of it, really — was a bit dangerous," said Ron, "and, you know, they were planning to sell it at Hogwarts to make some money, and Mum went mad at them. Told them they weren't allowed to make any more of it, and burned all the order forms. . . . She's furious at them anyway. They didn't get as many O.W.L.s as she expected."
Sirius looked at Molly with distaste—"So if it isn't what you want it's not acceptable?"
Arthur intervened—"Sirius please, let it rest."
"it sounds like the twins are businessmen."—Tonks said—"It doesn't sound so bad."
"Mom was angry because we had 3 owls each."—Fred said
"You shouldn't be proud of that."
"Well, someone has to."—George said quietly.
"because Mum wants them to go into the Ministry of Magic like Dad, and they told her all they want to do is open a joke shop."
Sirius smiled—"Need a sponsor?"
twins smiled—"Sure but we already have one."
"WHAT!"—Mrs. Weasley said—"I forbid it, you can't take other people's money."
Harry swallowed and tried to not make eye contact.
"We aren't taking anyone's money, we plan on paying our associate his investment back and whatever he wants, we are very thankful for what they did."—George said to his mother.
Sirius continued—"Oh you still could do with more, you could even buy Zonkos."
Remus agreed—"Their products haven't changed much since we were in school, the new pranks were predictable."
The twins' smiles got even bigger when they realized they could get help with some jokes from the Marauders themselves.
Molly was livid, she wanted them to have better life choices.
said Percy — I've got a report to finish for the office — Percy smugly. "We're trying to standardize cauldron thickness.
Percy blushed—"There is nothing wrong with being passionate about your job."
"No there is nothing wrong with it, but you do hear yourself right?"—Charlie said—"You are acting as if your job is the only one that matters."
"Ron don't mock your brother."
"Oh, but he can mock me?"—Ron asked his father.
Neville laughed at Ron's owl name— "Ginny you are not allowed to name your children."—Ginny stuck her tongue out.
Harry knew Ron had been about to ask about Sirius discussing him in front of Ginny was a bad idea.
Ginny sighed exasperated— "Well fuck you three."
"Ginny!"—Hermione gasped.
"No no, I'm right, well Luna is right most of your problems could be solved faster or better if you trusted more people, I'm sure I don't go around looking not trustworthy. Because I wouldn't go "Mom Sirius black is innocent and…" No would i?"—
Ron scoffed –"You just want to be involved because you want to be around Harry and us…"
"I'm popular for myself not for being some sidekick."—Ginny glared at him, if Ron wanted to mock her, she would mock back.
"Ginevra"—Arthur scolded, Ron's ears went red, and Harry looked uncomfortable while Sirius bit his lip and added his own two sickles.
"My… it seems your redheads are fighting"—
Harry elbowed him—"Stop it"
"She is not wrong; I mean look at the D.A."—Neville said
"I agree"—Fleur added—"Imagine the shack incident with more people involved."
Remus whine—"Blood bath"—he whispered
"Or someone could have gone and got a professor?
Fred and George. "I don't know what's going to happen to them, I really don't. No ambition, unless you count making as much trouble as they possibly can. . . ."
Augusta didn't want to get involved in what was a deep family matter but she couldn't let this go—"I'm sorry Molly but opening their own business, inventing…that's ambition they want to be entrepreneurs. I believe it's you who doesn't understand."
Molly had a stone face; she didn't even try to react.
Harry and Ron both jumped out of the way as several knives soared out of it, flew across the kitchen.
"Molly!"—Remus called out alongside Andromeda and Minerva.
The Weasley children didn't even react, they were used to their mother losing focus in her anger, and that's why most of them always found something to do.
Tonks leaned into Remus and whispered—"It seems if she's angry so is the whole house."—Remus shook his head and moved a little far away, making Tonks glare at him—"If you move'll move"—she whispered and Remus turned to her with a glare she matched.
Percy turned to his older brothers— "Even you mock me."
"No"—Bill said quickly— "We were once you Percy, we wanted to be the best in our jobs, the first to arrive, the last to leave, is it worth it enough to sell yourselves for it…no"
"You still have lots to learn brother."—Charlie said with a tight smile.
"Sucking up is a bad way to achieve a job"—Tonks said and Percy scowled.
"Bagman is a thief"—George mumbled.
"A rat"—his twin spat, and Harry gave them a sympathetic stare.
Everyone who had met Crouch looked at Percy with concern.
"Mr. Weasley Crouch couldn't care less for anyone but himself."
"It's bad to speak ill of the dead"—he said.
Harry sighed— "Percy, crouch was murdered by his son after he had him imprisoned in his home for years under the imperius curse."
Percy's mouth twitched in a frown. Harry just shook his head, he would get a big surprise.
"What a horrible way of speaking of the dead"—Amelia said to Percy about his speech about Bertha.
"I didn't know she was dead."
Mrs. Weasley was arguing with Bill about his earring. "And your hair's getting silly, dear," said Mrs. Weasley, fingering her wand lovingly. "I wish you'd let me give it a trim. . .." said Ginny, "You're so old fashioned, Mum.
"I'm not old fashioned, I just like that my children look respectable."
"Bill looks exactly like his job description."—Fleur said smiling and arranging Bill's hair earning a smile from him.
Mrs. Weasley looked disapprovingly.
"Yeah, someone might slip dragon dung in it again, eh, Perce?" said Fred. ""We sent it."
"Boys!"
Percy sent the twins a scowl.
CHAPTER SIX—THE PORTKEY
"I still don't understand why we didn't just apparate with the rest"—Ginny Said
"The experience."
"It's difficult."
"Mom said it was too dangerous"—Percy said
Remus said—"You don't need your license to apparated with someone else. Just to have a good grasp of apparition."
It was an unpleasant scene; the twins had evidently been trying to smuggle as many toffees "We spent six months developing those!" Fred shouted at his mother as she threw the toffees away.
George rolled his eyes— "I don't even know why you try?"
"What the hell Molly!"—
"Don't you dare get involved in this Sirius, this is not of your business."
"Everything in these pages is everyone's business."—Ted said to Arthur—"It doesn't seem fair for Harry, why should we keep quiet about your problems when we are judging his."
Harry who was more than uncomfortable let out a breath before he mouthed a thank you at Ted.
Sirius insisted—"Have you considered that what you did to your children is rude, they have worked hard for it. Do you even understand how difficult it is to invent something?"
"Like you would know?"
Sirius laughed at Molly—"Did you miss the Map I helped create? I also created spells and the Animagus isn't easy…you underestimate your children, and it bothers them."—he pointed at the twins who were glaring at the floor, not looking at their mother.
Mrs. Weasley was still glowering as she kissed Mr. Weasley on the cheek, though not nearly as much as the twins, who had each hoisted their rucksacks onto their backs and walked out without a word to her.
Molly stood up from the chair and walked out of the room with Mr. Weasley behind her. The Weasley children looked a little uncomfortable and Dumbledore took pity on them and asked for five minutes.
Ron was called by Bill who had dragged the Weasley twins to a corner of the room. Hermione shared an uncomfortable look with Harry who pulled at his hair. Sirius spoke to him—"Does she yell at you like that too?"
Hermione shook her head and Harry turned to him—"She is not a bad person."
"Doesn't mean she doesn't make you uncomfortable."
Harry rolled his eyes and Hermione added—"There are moments I feel it's too much but Harry and I aren't used to all the noise."
Sirius nodded but he looked at Remus who let out a breath. –"No one is safe."—These books weren't holding anything.
Tonks looked around the room—"Could it get more awkward?"—
Remus who was trying to ignore her couldn't help the smile and the thought that came to him, he turned to Harry—"I don't know. Harry"—the boy turned to him in question. —"Any illicit snog in a broom closet you don't want us to know about?"
Harry gapped at him, and Hermione coughed to cover a laugh, Sirius burst out laughing alongside Tonks.
"Remus! What the hell, now I'm …NO!"—Harry stuttered, Remus shrugged with a mocking smile.
Mr. Weasley and Mr. Weasley came back into the room, it was clear Molly wasn't Happy, but she didn't say anything and they all sat down to continue.
The book once again started
Hermione shook her head remembering everything the ministry had done for the quidditch cup—"You could avoid all this if you knew how to deal with Muggles. We aren't aliens, we don't come from another planet, and we all look the same but your material on the muggle world is outdated and I saw it in the way we dressed."-The quidditch cup had been an eye-opening of how disconnected wizards were with muggle reality.
Kingsley agreed—"A few years ago I asked the Wizengamont to allow Attire muggle teaching for the Aurors because our Uniform is very distinctive, attire helps to camouflage but it offended the sensibility of the traditionalist."
Harry spoke—"Let's be honest the world is big enough that we could not mingle with the muggles if we wanted."
"We have far away small islands"—Bill agreed—"But it all falls in administration, for example, the goblins have a lot of land in the Shetlands but the Ministry would never make a deal with them to rent that space."
Harry tilted his head—"That was curious for me, portkeys are trash but can't portkeys be charmed with muggle-repellent charms?"
"It could jeopardize the location charm of the portkey"—Augusta said.
And I think you know his son, Cedric Diggory
The room went silent, and Harry looked at the book in pain, for a moment he had forgotten about Cedric. He felt Hermione's hand and Sirius's arm around his shoulders.
said Amos Diggory — Ced, that'll be something to tell your grandchildren, that will. . . . You beat Harry Potter!"
Neville smiled tightly—"It wouldn't have been so bad if it weren't for the tone."
"Amos is a very proud man"—Moody said.
Luna smiled, at hearing her last name.
CHAPTER SEVEN—BAGMAN AND CROUCH
Remus voiced— "Muggle money is more complicated, especially when the value changes."
"How would a credit card system function in the wizarding world?"—Hermione asked out loud.
"What's that?"—Sirius asked.
"A plastic card with money value that muggles use to pay, it direct to the bank."
"Sounds complicated, I can't see the goblins agreeing."
wizard in plus-fours appeared out of thin air next to Mr. Roberts's front door. "Obliviate!" he said sharply,
"How many times did you obliviate that poor man?"-Minerva said.
"Too much too many"—Hermione murmured.
"Did we have to keep the muggles?"—Ginny said— "Couldn't we have a wizard do their job send the muggles on a holiday or trick them as we did with Harry's Aunt?"
Ludo Bagman's not helping.
The twins made a face at the name. They detested that man.
"Ludo is a clear example of what is wrong with the ministry"—Augusta said—"The man is a celebrity who doesn't understand how to do his job."
"Unfortunately, he has very good contacts."—Amelia said
"He sold secrets to the death eaters and people seemed to forget that."— Harry said.
Moody— "The idiot didn't even realize he was doing that."
Ron scoffed— "Lax in security…that's an understatement the man was nowhere to be found."
A little farther on they passed a tent that had three floors and several turrets; and a short way beyond that was a tent that had a front garden attached, complete with birdbath, sundial, and fountain.
Sirius hummed— "Sounds about rich."
"Shouldn't there be a fine for this?"—Fleur asked.
"I don't even think there is a rule about it, look at the poor muggle, probably fried his brain."—Neville said sadly
Andromeda rolled her eyes—"That's the point of getting together, to brag about ourselves."
he and Hermione worked out where most of the poles and pegs should go, and though Mr. Weasley was more of a hindrance than a help.
Harry made to speak but didn't know what to say to that, so he cleared his throat and looked at his feet. Mr. Weasley looked a little embarrassed, he was realizing how disconnected they all sounded to the world around them and how embarrassing it was for those who understood better.
"Maybe we do need better lessons in muggles."—
"I've never been to muggle London"—Neville said.
Hermione gave him a pained kind smile— "That's why I told Professor McGonagall that Muggle's studies should be updated, I will write you some notes."—she said to the professor.
Sirius gave Arthur a weird look— "You need water, just use it in Aguamenti."
"It's about the experience."
"Dad only you cared about the rules, nobody cared about the anti-muggle security"—Bill said remembering all the crazy magic he saw
It was only just dawning on Harry how many witches and wizards there must be in the world; he had never really thought much about those in other countries.
Fleur looked at Harry— "I don't blame you arry, barely have time to survive."
Harry gave her a tense smile. – "How many wizards are in the world?"
"Nobody knows"—Amelia said, -"The ICW tried to make a Census years ago but it's hard to keep track of us, especially if you have no children."
"Can't we link them through the schools?"—Hermione asked but Dumbledore denied it.
"homeschooling was popular during both world wars and the Depression. Add our wars…"
"It's easier for us to live conspicuously."
the families with small children; Harry had never seen witches and wizards this young before.
The room was getting used to the sad emotions the narration would cause them, Harry didn't even have good memories of himself as a magical child.
"I have a picture of you riding your broom as a baby"—Sirius said happily. Harry turned surprised before he could ask Sirius hummed— "It's upstairs I have to look through my stuff, but I'll look tonight."—Harry gave him a bright smile.
Remus looked at the teenagers— "Did you know that in some countries like South America and Africa, they still speak languages that to muggles have been extinct for hundreds of years."
"It would be fascinating to learn from them."
"The academy in Egypt has a research department about translating old texts."—Bill said to Hermione—"They chose the best of the best."
"I wonder what the Bulgarians have got dangling all over their tents?" said Hermione.
Harry turned to give Hermione an amused look, and she blushed— "Shut up Harry."
Fred laughed— "Who would have thought! Hermione with no idea who Krum was, ended up snogging him in broom closets."
Ron scoffed— "Hermione didn't do that."
Charlie laughed and pointed at a very red Hermione— "Are you sure?"
"Is Krum Grumpy Hermione?"—Ginny asked in mock and Hermione glared— "No…he is quite smart I just wished we could have talked more."
The teenagers laughed and the adults smirked.
"Oh, because of the language barrier…oh shush"—she said red face.
Remus laughed at the man with the nightgown. —"Dressing as a muggle isn't that hard, just put on pants and a vest, and there it is."
"But wizards are also far behind in fashion"—Fleur said—"Some wizards still dress like in the 1950s or those who are stuck in other eras"—she scrunched her nose.
"Witches dress too modestly."—Hermione agreed— "There is nothing wrong, but it does attract attention in the younger muggle generations."
"I respect a man who enjoys nudity"—Sirius said and Harry shook his head in amusement
She waved and smiled at Harry, who slopped quite a lot of water down his front as he waved back.
Harry grunted in annoyance as he sank deeper into the chair. — "No one comments."
Sirius and Remus shared a small smile.
Andromeda looked at Ted and gave him a look, she didn't know if Sirius and Remus were going to talk to Harry, but someone would have to be on the boy's side with the whole girl crush because it would eventually get uncomfortable for him. Ted whispered to her— "Hopefully we don't hear anything too detailed."
Molly who had been silent through the reading, turned to the twins at the mention of their gambling.
George made an annoyed face—"Well in that we agree with you, gambling with him was a mistake."
"Mr. Crouch?" said Percy, positively writhing with excitement. "He speaks over two hundred! Mermish and Gobbledegook and Troll . . ."
Sirius's eyes widened in disbelief at Percy's tone of voice. He mumbled quietly— "Heaven's sake, bend for the man…"
Harry started coughing and gave his godfather a look that said please shut up.
"Yes — thank you, Weatherby"
Percy went scarlet thinking of how embarrassed he had been.
Sirius tried to smother his laugh and he hadn't been the only one. Molly felt bad for her son if only he had been more open about his troubles at work or if she had been paying more attention. She swallowed she didn't like how many of the people around her were judging her family, but she had done her best, she wanted her children to excel and be better than her and Arthur and if she had to be persistent, she would.
Tonks shook her head— "What's the point of overworking yourself if you aren't going to be valued."
McGonagall spoke up—"That's not the point, like Bill was saying excelling in your job is important and very comforting but it's useless when your superior doesn't see it or takes it for granted."—she tried not to look at Percy, she had this conversation with him since his career day until the day he graduated, she had advice some other mentor but he had been admitted to learn under crouch.
CHAPTER EIGHT-THE QUIDDITCH WORLD CUP
Harry said remembering the stadium—"I don't think I had ever thought how much one hundred thousand people looked like."
"It was bloody amazing"-Ron agreed
"It was one of the small ones."—Sirius said remembering the quidditch game his uncle Alphard had taken the marauders to see—"Russia hosted in 86 and there is very little danger for muggles to wander around, it was almost three hundred thousand people."
Remus smiled remembering—"The game lasted ten hours and it was the loudest thing I have ever witnessed."—he smiled at Harry—"Sirius's uncle took us to celebrate his 17th birthday."
Sirius smiled sadly—"He passed a few months later." –he didn't want to think of the many quidditch games Harry and he could've gone to, all those memories that would never exist.
Neville smiled—"I doubt Dobby is the only elf in the world."
"I doubt people want to pay him."—Augusta said remembering the weird elf.
"He works at Hogwarts"—Dumbledore smiled
"What is crouch elf doing up there"—Amelia asked curiously.
"You weren't there?"—Sirius asked her
"No, I was outside, making sure the aurors were doing their job. The reason why the death eaters didn't get worse was because we reacted fast."
"Poor winky she sounds terrified"—Tonks said
throwing jealous looks at Harry, whom Cornelius Fudge had greeted like an old friend.
"I imagine that has changed since then."—Harry laughed and turned to Percy who was a little flustered—"You can keep him, I'm sure you get along just right."
Sirius bit down the smirk.
Lucius Malfoy; his son, Draco; and a woman Harry supposed must be Draco's mother. His mother was blonde too; tall and slim, she would have been nice-looking if she hadn't been wearing a look that suggested there was a nasty smell under her nose.
Sirius laughed and Andromeda had a small smile—"Cissy has always been like that. She is a Posh English lady to the core; her strong suit is manners and hypocritical politeness. Not a single hair out of place."
"She looked as snobby as her husband."
Sirius turned to Hermione—"Can you believe that one is a love match."
"It is?"—Ginny said surprise.
"Oh yes"—Andromeda stated—"I was supposed to marry Lucius but Cissy confessed he liked him and he was agreeable to her so they modified our agreement which served me right. Having Lucius after me would have difficulty in my escape."
Harry's question was answered for him. Veela were women . . . the most beautiful women Harry had ever seen . . . except that they weren't — they couldn't be — human.
Some men chuckled all of them forgetting they had a Veela in the room. She clapped loudly and everyone turned to her.
"Yes Harry you are right, we are not entirely Human. We don't know where we come from. Some of our ancestors say we descend from Sirens, other nymphs, and others that we are the spirits of the frivolous women that know linger in both worlds. We can control water, fire, and storms but that depends on your family's blood. My grandmother is pure Veela, my mother is half, and my sister and I are quarter of Veela. But that varies according to your magic, if my ancestor wants to bless my children then she could be half veela."
Harry felt like he had been reprimanded—"Ahh…umm I feel called out"
Bill smiled at Harry—"She gets a little intense regarding it, Veelas are incredibly sexualized and men tend to forget that most Veelas charm just reacts and it's not intentional."
Fleur sighed—"Sorry Harry, it's just people hear Veela and they assume the worst. We don't mind being seen as beautiful women or sensual the problem is some women and men don't understand no."
Andromeda gave her a sympathetic look she remembered how much Dora had battled with that because of her gift. –"I imagine the charm starts once you reach puberty"
"Yes, at the age of 11, it was something to get used to."
Hermione made a loud tutting noise. She reached up and pulled Harry back into his seat. "Honestly!" she said.
Fleur nodded—"That's the reaction we normally get from them and jealousy."—she said giving a side eye to Mrs. Weasley.
Ron blushed at how enthusiastic he sounded about Krum. Harry gave him an amused smile and Hermione tried not to blush.
It was Quidditch as Harry had never seen it played before.
Sirius smiled at him— "You could do that yourself you know."
Harry let out a breath. — "I could but I don't know, I… it's more fame than I already have…and"—he shrugged
Ginny nodded excitedly at the book. — "That was the moment if fell even more in love with quidditch, Ireland team is just supreme."
"The training that is required must be intensive and exhausting"—Charlie said smiling, that could have been his life. A life that was going to be chosen by his little sister. He just hoped his mom didn't make a big deal.
Kingsley whistled—"I forgot how intense the game had been. I heard it from outside but do you have any idea how strong Krum has to be to be able to lift his weight at that speed without crashing?"
Harry turned to smirk at Hermione who rolled her eyes.
"Sounds like a very talented young man."—Sirius said
Hermione jumped excited—"Oh he is, one of the youngest seekers to be signed and he trains so hard, known since a young age he would be a quidditch star."
Tonks laughed—"Yes I can see how bad the language barrier was."
Hermione poked her tongue out and ignored the huff from Ron.
Fleur pressed her lips.—"The Veelas got angry at the referee because he called them a slur when he realized he had been enchanted."
"How do you know that?"—Ginny asked
"My cousin is one of the cheerleaders."
Fred and George perked up—"Really, like single cousins?"
Fleur gave them a mock glare. –"Too much for you boys."
"Well see"—Fred whispered.
Remus shook his head—"Harry the omnioculars save the game. Pay attention to the real thing."
"Well, I didn't know that."
Amelia was impressed—"Were you able to see the snitch Mr. Potter?"
"Ah, not all the time, just a handful and that one at the end before Krum grabbed it."
"He knew they were never going to catch up!" Harry shouted
Remus and Sirius shared a sad fond smile, Harry had sounded so much like James' voice tone at that moment that it almost made them cry.
"You sound so sure of yourself."—
Harry shrugged at Remus's comment. —"I would have done the same thing. I normally don't play offense in school only with Malfoy but if Krum had tried to keep the game going, Ireland would've lost their seeker to body harm and Krum would've ended up more beat up. If you get close to catching it, you get desperate."
Amelia laughed remembering the Fudge complaining about being insulted by the Bulgarian Minister—"Let me tell you, Fudge was embarrassed he kept going on and on about the lack of professionalism in the minister for that stunt."
"Well, if he hadn't kept talking to the man as if he was dumb, the Bulgarian Minister might have let it slip he spoke English."—Arthur said.
CHAPTER NINE- THE DARK MARK
Those who only read this in the newspaper were interested to see how everything played out.
Mrs. Weasley once again had to contain her comment about the gambling situation, she didn't want to make a scene where it was obvious everyone wanted to judge her.
"Don't worry, Dad," said Fred gleefully, "we've got big plans for this money. We don't want it confiscated."
The twins shared a sad smile, it didn't matter now. they knew their mother would forever have a comment about their shop.
"Cocoa!"—Ted said— "No Arthur you have to allow at least one sip of fire whiskey."
Bill laughed— "I said the same thing. But Dad was in charge, so I had to drink my whiskey outside."
Arthur shook his head— "If it hadn't been for the outside whiskey, we wouldn't have caught the death eaters on time. We heard them and immediately woke the rest."
he could see people running away into the woods, fleeing something that was moving across the field toward them, They didn't seem to have faces. . . Then he realized that their heads were hooded and their faces masked.
"Did they always wear the masks?"—Harry asked.
"Yes, it was their signature look"—Remu said, he had read this in the paper, and he hadn't realized Harry had been right in the middle until months later, he felt once again guilt at how he left everything.
Ginny said—"It was terrifying, everyone was screaming and you could hear the heat of the tents on fire."
Augusta made a sound of disgust—"The fact that they are playing with the muggles instead of killing them makes you realize this was just for entertainment."
Hermione retorted irritated –"It made me realize the kind of sick people they are."
Moody said—"Anyone close to the first war knows they didn't do this, that's why it was bad. Back then it was instinct kill, torture if you were valuable."
Amelia nodded— "We captured two, but they were no one of importance, they were drunk and thought it would be fun."
"Are they in Azkaban?"—Luna asked.
Arthur denied angrily- "Um no, it's muggle baiting so it's just a fine."-
Ron remembered how the body of the small family child looked like flying sixty feet above the ground— "Dad said they were fine but were they?"
"Yes"—Kingsley answered. - "Confused and sore but no lasting damages."
Amelia remembered the moment she saw the masks, it had almost sent her into a severe panic attack—"Most of my Aurors are old enough to have been in the war or remember it, so we weren't only worried about the family falling but some of us were fighting the panic attacks, there were a few who had to be sent to St Mungo's because it brought back unpleasant memories."
Neville said— "Of course, you had to run into Malfoy, of all the people out there."
Andromeda shook her head sadly, she turned to Snape who had remained quiet. — "Were you there? Was this his initiation?"
Snape denied— "I was not, Lucius didn't organize this, it was Selwyn. Draco was supposed to leave with Narcissa, but Lucius wanted him to see." -At the looks, Dumbledore was receiving he said— "I did not inform the headmaster about this; I cannot go around telling everything I see, or I would compromise myself. Selwyn and I don't particularly like each other."
said Malfoy, his pale eyes glittering. "Hadn't you better be hurrying along, now? You wouldn't like her spotted, would you?"
Charlie frowned—"That sounded like in advice."
"It wasn't."—Ron said
"Green spells, were they throwing unforgivables?"
"No, the most dangerous one I saw was a boiling blood hex"—Tonks said.
"Where're your parents?" said Harry, his temper rising. "Out there wearing masks, are they?" Malfoy turned his face to Harry, still smiling. "Well . . . if they were, I wouldn't be likely to tell you, would I, Potter?"
Snape sighed he knew why his Draco did it, he understood. Narcissa had trained him to save face, but he wasn't helping himself Snape once again spoke— "Draco is not a bad person."
Andromeda spoke— "Perhaps not, I won't deny it seems like Lucius has a full grasp on the boy, but he does seem ignorant of who his father is."—she was disappointed Cissy hadn't fought enough out of Lucius' grasp.
Ginny spoke – "Well he might not be like his father, but he is vile, and he takes great pleasure in it."
Sirius stared at her before he said— "The time would come for him to choose eventually. We all did."—he waved around.
"Ah, no, I don't believe it . . . I've lost my wand!"
The Aurors groaned and Remus turned to Harry –"How could you lose your wand!"
"Harry for heaven's sake"—Andromeda said
"Since when?"
""How can you not notice when you lose your wand"
Harry coughed-" it's not my proudest moment okay"
mad eye made a sound of exasperation-" Since when potter?
"Since the stadium"
Sirius yelled-"what! Where is your wand right now?"
Harry raised his hand.
" we're getting you a wand holder."
" Those are expensive."
" You are rich."
Winky the house-elf was fighting her way out of a clump of bushes nearby.it was as though someone invisible were trying to hold her back.
Luna said sadly-" oh poor thing she sounds terrified"
"Well, that was a very detailed description."
Moody realized that was the moment that Junior escaped
Amelia said-" I suppose the keyword here is invisible?"
"You know, house-elves get a very raw deal!" said Hermione indignantly. "It's slavery,
Hermione started-" and and I still agree with that sentiment, they are slaves someone needs to do something about it they should have rights and be paid and be able to live however they want."
Sirius made a murmur of agreement-" So that's what my 100 galleons are going to go to, campaigning for elves' freedom. Yes, that's not going to stick."
Hermione glared and him and it was Andromeda who spoke-" This is why the traditionalists get annoyed by the muggleborn."
Sirius rolled his eyes -" watch it Andy you might start sounding pure blood."
Augusta said-"Though I agree that some Elves receive a very unkind treatment, I hope you have done your research regarding elf magic and why elves like Dobby are quite particular."
Before Hermione could start again Sirius stopped her-" let's go back to the book we can talk about freedom at dinner."
beautiful veela standing in a clearing, surrounded by a gaggle of young wizards, all of whom were talking very loudly. Ron was yelling, "Did I tell you I've invented a broomstick that'll reach Jupiter?" "Honestly!" said Hermione, and she and Harry grabbed Ron firmly by the arms, wheeled him around.
Fleur made a sound of distaste— "You should have helped her, that's very uncomfortable believe me. The poor girl was probably scared, was she with someone?"
Hermione denied she hadn't been paying attention to be fair she had found the whole thing annoying— "Not that I remember."
"For heavens Ronald some control"—Ginny said annoyed.
"Easy for you to say, they don't affect you"
" What the hell was Bagman doing so far away from the stadium?"
George said-" probably hiding from the people he had to pay."
"Did he disapparated to go help or to safety himself?"
It sounded as though someone was staggering toward their clearing. Harry got to his feet and peered around the tree. It was too dark to see very far, but he could sense somebody standing just beyond the range of his vision.
"Who's there?" he said.
" What the hell are you doing, hide."
" Very noble of you to let Harry go check"-Tonks said to Hermione and Ron who shrugged - " we did what normal people do, we hid."
"MORSMORDRE!"
Those who had heard that incantation in real life, flinch, it was so visible that Harry's eyes widened a little at the reaction. He turned to look at Sirius who had gone very pale, he wasn't the only one.
serpent protruding from its mouth like a tongue "It's the Dark Mark, Harry!" Hermione moaned, pulling him as hard as she could. "You-Know-Who's sign!"
"How could you not know?"—Tonks said Suprise
Sirius was pale and cold he remembered the last time he saw that mark; he would never forget it.
"Harry you never wanted to know …"—Kingsley started, and Harry rolled his eyes annoyed.
"I know enough, my parents were murdered by Voldemort. That's my whole life, everything I've done since I arrived in my world is live under my parents' murder, I have been accused of enjoying the fame that came from my parents' death, I was responsible for making this man go away and now nobody believes me he is back, so now I'm responsible for him to be gone again. I know enough Kingsley."
Sirius who is starting to get used to having his little out first put his hand on his shoulder-" No need to take it out on Kingsley."
Harry let out of breath-" Sorry it's just that I tried, I tried to read about what happened to him but every time I tried in anger that I didn't like came forward, and like I said I already knew enough."
Kingsley gave Harry a sad smile in understanding but he didn't want to point out that maybe he didn't know enough and that's why they had received these books.
"STUPEFY !" roared twenty voices — there was a blinding series of flashes and Harry felt the hair on his head ripple as though a powerful wind had swept the clearing.
Remus said-" I see what you mean Amelia, this was the normal reaction of the Aurors back then. Fire spells ask questions later but back then crouch had permitted the use of unforgivable."
" it's quite complicated to duck the killing curse."
"Which of you did it?" he snapped, his sharp eyes darting between them. "Which of you conjured the Dark Mark?"
Minerva said-" well it's clear that Crouch was having flashbacks of the past."
" How dare he accuse Harry of casting the killing curse." - Neville said
"Do not lie, sir!" shouted Mr. Crouch. His wand was still pointing directly at Ron.
Arthur spoke-" Barty wasn't in his right mind, for a moment I think he didn't realize who he was talking to, most of us were just reacting."
" I do have a question"-Fleur voiced- " when you introduced this man you introduced him as the head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation, why is he questioning them as if he was in charge?"
Molly asked Amelia-" Where are you?"
" On the other side with the Muggle family making sure that the obliviators were doing their job, I was about to head where the mark was when they yelled that we had two in custody."
Fred said to Sirius-" no wonder you ended up in Azkaban, he sounds mental."
It was Winky.
" And where is her invisible companion?"
" gone"-Moody said no expression on his face.
Ted realized where this was going-" so the invisible friend was the one who did the spell, and based on the comments you have made it was Crouch's son."
Tonks mocked her dad-"Good job dad."
For a few seconds Crouch remained transfixed, his eyes blazing in his white face as he stared down at Winky.
Hermione let out a breath— "He knew, realized it was jr who had done it."
"And that he was gone."—Ron said looking at Harry who just leaned back into the chair exhausted.
"Hey — that's mine!" he said. "You dropped it?" repeated Mr. Diggory in disbelief. "Is this a confession? You threw it aside after you conjured the Mark?" "Amos, think who you're talking to!" said Mr. Weasley, very angrily. "Is Harry Potter likely to conjure the Dark Mark?"
"Why is it always you Harry"—Hagrid said, and Harry shrugged, he stopped asking that years ago.
Luna laughed and everybody turned to look at her-" the tone in the way Harry said it as if it was normal for him to just be dropping things in crime scenes."
" Didn't all Death Eaters know how to conjure it?"- Ron asked
Dumbledore spoke-" According to our Intel, Voldemort delegated tasks, not everyone had a dark mark, not everybody knew how to conjure the Dark it, and not everyone had the..."- he paused-" the privilege of taking down a target."
Mr. Crouch stared back, his face somehow sharpened, each line upon it more deeply etched. There was no pity in his gaze. (…) she disobeyed me. This means clothes."
" You would think you would like to keep her to make sure that she didn't talk."
Augusta spoke-" And that is how I know you haven't researched Elf Magic, Miss Granger. elves have existed for hundreds of years, which has allowed some wizards to modify their existence, elves need a bond to survive they need the magic of a wizard to exist."—she looked directly at Hermione—" Of course with the years, that magical Bond has diminished depending on the elf, I'm sure winky is a family elf like Kreacher whose family has been passed from generation to generation, Crouch knew that by giving her clothes she wouldn't survive long and that even free he had her loyalty."
" that's sick, it's wrong in many ways it's barbaric."
" I agree dear that's why Dobby is quite particular, his magic must be new or not so inbreed. But yet he still searched for a bond when he decided to go to work at Hogwarts."
said Ron, frowning. "I mean . . . it's still only a shape in the sky. . . ."
Ron defended-" it's not like all of these details are for everybody to know, we grew up listening very little about the war, and perhaps if Binns taught something other than goblin wars we might know more about it but we always hear the same thing, it was dark times."
"Because you didn't need to"-Molly said her voice thick-" they are not good memories."
Ron looked at her-" I know mom."
Amelia said-" it's not so simple to talk about those years, especially because everything changed so quickly, one moment, we thought we were winning and the next he was everywhere and you couldn't trust anyone and you're right Mr. Weasley, Susan didn't know what that Mark was either and it was once on top of her house."
Harry was startled, realizing that, that mark had been on his home as well.
It scared the Death Eaters away the moment they saw it.
Snape spoke-" It scared them, since the dark Lord's fall no one has dared to conjure or even say it. They weren't expecting it, and they knew that whoever conjured it, wouldn't be happy with them."
Harry nodded in agreement-" he reprimanded them, he said that there were always signs of him and that no one had come to his aide."
three days — he had awoken with his scar burning. And tonight, for the first time in thirteen years, Lord Voldemort's mark had appeared in the sky. What did these things mean?
Harry felt guilty, maybe he should have paid more attention to the signs maybe he should have talked about this with Dumbledore. But if tried to remember why he couldn't approach to Headmaster it all came to the same thing he was feeling right now, because he didn't want to be a bother. But there was no need to talk about it to anyone since in the end he would have to be the one doing everything.
" This is why Mr. Potter needed someone to trust, you had to leave an open Channel for him to communicate with you Dumbledore. I don't believe you would have been able to do something and might have been as confused as him but at least more people would have been aware."
Dumbledore gave Amelia a small nod as he realized the mistake he had made with Harry. Leaving him with his aunt hadn't necessarily meant leaving him uncommunicated it was a failure on his part, something he would apologize for once he spoke with Harry.
CHAPTER TEN- MAYHEM AT THE MINISTRY
Mrs. Weasley, who had evidently been waiting for them in the front yard, came running toward them.
Molly shook her head-" I still remember the fear, the paper had an image of the mark, and it explained that some people had been caught underneath it. I couldn't stop thinking about all of you."
Tonks said-" I suppose you didn't know about the patronus as messages?"
That got the attention of the Teenager, especially Harry he didn't know he could do that and he turned to Remus, he would have to ask him later.
Arthur denied-"No, I was in fully on the order the first time the Burrow was just used for emergencies and mostly by my brothers-in-law."
"We need to find better ways to communicate quickly, imagine all those people that were there from other countries these poor families have to wait for an owl."
And to everybody's surprise, she seized Fred and George and pulled them both into such a tight hug that their heads banged together.
Said the woman breaking into tears-" I was so sorry about the way we said goodbye and why was everybody surprised I hugged my children?"
The twins shared a look-" We were fine Mom."
Rita Skeeter."
"Ha"- Hermione said-" it's interesting how everything falls into place, I read the prophet every morning and I had never paid attention to Rita's name, and yet this year when we met her someone is pointing her out."
"This is one of those things divination studies"-
Hermione made a face.
" That woman has a problem with anyone that can give her a story, I've never met anyone nosier in my life."- Hagrid said-" and I'm friends with Harry"
Harry gave him an offended look while some had a small laugh.
— you know, Wormtail. I can't remember all of it now, but they were plotting to kill . . . someone." He had teetered for a moment on the verge of saying "me," but couldn't bring himself to make Hermione look any more horrified than she already did. "It was only a dream," said Ron bracingly. "Just a nightmare." "Yeah, but was it, though?" said Harry,
" It's sweet how you don't want to bother them but bottling it all up isn't good, and if you can't talk about it with those who lived it with you who are you going to talk about it with?"-Tonks said
" What do you think are those dreams Harry."- Bill asked if it was Harry who was going to bring it up he was going to take advantage of it.
Harry said non-plus-" visions."
Remus and Sirius frowned; it was Remus who voiced it- " From Voldemort's mind? As if he shows them to you?"
"No"- Harry said-" when he has a strong emotion, sometimes I can feel it, so maybe dreams work the same way."
" When he's losing control."- Bill agreed-" I'm going to be honest I was already thinking about that but I didn't want to say anything for fear of scaring you, we need to work in your occlumency with urgency."
Harry gave Bill a strange look. -" Why?... Do you think that if I can see in his mind he's going to be able to see in mine?"
Dumbledore interjected- " I don't believe Voldemort knows about this connection just yet."
Harry turned to him with a frown-" So you already had this suspicion?"
"Not until Arthur was attacked."
Harry gave him a curt nod and leaned back into the couch lost in thought.
Bill caught Remus's gaze and made a small hand gesture that said later. Remus nodded.
said Ron, his expression clearing. "I bet Sirius'll know what to do!"
" With no means to offend Sirius-" Kingsley said-" this must give you an idea of how little trust the adults around these kids have given them. How could Sirius help them, he hasn't been able to help himself."
Sirus felt a sort of pride in how much these children trusted him, but he also felt guilt and inadequate, he was broken and weak he knew that he had served Harry some help that year but what about this one, he had locked himself in his despair and pain and forgot about the boy…again.
Remus was feeling like being punched while he was down and he knew he deserved it he had given his back on Harry, he could have tried to maintain contact, and could have reached out once he found out that Harry was in the tournament, but he had been more afraid for himself.
Luna told Ron and Hermione-"You realize Harry is a person right, Hermione you are reprimanding Ron for trying to tell Harry what to do but you are implying that you know how he is feeling. Nobody has asked him what he wants."
"Harry can talk."
" I don't think Harry knows that."
Well, Father feels he's got to make up for his mistake at the match, doesn't he?" said Percy.
Ted said to help Harry out of the uncomfortable situation-" Why is the ministry always in chaos, just pay the damages of the burning tent it has to be registered."
Percy internally flinched at his tone A pang of regret was starting to appear. He had been so focused on his ambitions, on proving his worth, that he hadn't realized how rude he was being to his parents.
"Now look here, Hermione!" said Percy. "A high-ranking Ministry official like Mr. Crouch deserves unswerving obedience from his servants —"
"You are lucky Hermione didn't slap you like she did Malfoy"—
"Maybe it would have sat him right"—she said looking at Percy.
Percy didn't react he was lost in thought at hearing himself, he hadn't realized this was how he sounded, when had he …this was him, but it didn't sound like him. He swallowed feeling suddenly a little cold.
"Well, they're okay!" said Ron angrily, looking at Harry's robes. "Why couldn't I have some like that?" "Because . . . well, I had to get yours secondhand, and there wasn't a lot of choice!" said Mrs. Weasley, flushing.
Sirius realizing that the Weasleys had suffered enough exposure decided to change the Awkward Moment and turned to Harry-" That's right the yule ball was this year and I just realized we haven't had a chat"
Harry turned to look at him confused-"What?"
"You know the chat for the broom closets."- he laughed at the horrifying expression on his God Son face
-" I don't need that chat"
Arthur chuckled-" I gave them that."
" so did we"- Bill pointed at him and Charlie
Ron murmured-" it would have been better if you would have told us how to get the girls in the first place."
"Ronnie we can't do everything for you."
Dumbledore announced that it was the end of the chapter- " we should probably take a few minutes."
Hello guys, sorry for the delay but here it is.
If you have anything from this book you wish for me to pay attention to, tell me in the comments because, well GOF is very long It has thirty-seven chapters so we have a long way. And some chapters are just full of unnecessary information that doesn't have to be directly quoted.
Another news is a have been publishing this story in A03, i have fixed many grammar errors and information from the books I got wrong but it's only up to chapter 10. Check A03 if you prefer it there though my catching up with my stories is a little slow. I do have a story I will be publishing here in a few days called The Marauders Read a story, it's another reading of the book, and I like to believe is different since we have other characters and Lily and James as young parents.
Please review and remember I do this for fun.
