"I'll make the first move! Draw!" Ao studied his hand, then made his move. "I activate the Field Spell, A Legendary Ocean! Next, I'll Normal Summon Breaker the Magical Warrior and Set a backrow. Your turn."
"Alright!" exclaimed Taza excitedly. "It's unfortunate your deck seems to want its Field Spell in play, since I have this! I activate Terraforming, allowing me to add my own Field Spell from my deck to my hand! I'll search and activate Necrovalley, taking your Field Spell out of the equation! Next, I'll Normal Summon Gravekeeper's Spear Soldier! His Attack goes up to 2000 thanks to Necrovalley, so he'll take out your Spear Soldier! Next, I'll Set two backrows and pass the turn."
Ao: 7900 Life Points.
Taza: 8000 Life Points.
"My turn! Draw! So, you think that just because you got your Field Spell up that you can beat me? Well, how about this? I activate Graceful Charity, drawing three cards and discarding two. Next, I Summon the mighty Tribe-Infecting Virus and activate its effect, discarding a card to destroy all monsters on the field of a type of my choosing! Naturally, I'm going with Spellcasters."
"I'll activate Torrential Tribute! If my monster is gonna die, then I'll take yours down with it!"
"Not if my Solemn Judgment has anything to say about it! Now, my Virus attacks you directly! I'll end my turn here."
Ao: 3950 Life Points.
Taza: 6400 Life Points.
"Draw! I'll Set a monster and a backrow and end my turn!"
"Alright, my turn! During my Standby Phase, the Sinister Serpent I discarded returns to my hand! Next, I activate Nobleman of Crossout! Your Set monster is removed from play, and since that Gravekeeper's Guard is a Flip monster, all other copies of it are removed from your deck as well!"
"Well, shit, that ain't good at all."
"Not for you. Now, I Normal Summon Lekunga, and both my monsters attack you directly! That'll be my turn."
"Good. During your End Phase, I activate my Trap Card, Rite of Spirit! I can Special Summon a Gravekeeper from my Graveyard regardless of Necrovalley's presence on the field! Welcome back, Spear Soldier!"
Ao: 3950 Life Points.
Taza: 3100 Life Points.
"Now it's my turn! Draw! I Normal Summon Gravekeeper's Assailant! Spear Soldier will attack your Virus, and Assailant will take out Lekunga! I'll Set a backrow and end my turn."
Ao: 3250 Life Points.
Taza: 3100 Life Points.
"Draw! I Set a monster and a backrow and end my turn!"
Taza smiled. He knew he had Ao on the defensive. "Draw! Spear Soldier, attack the Set monster!"
"I open my Trap, Mirror Force!"
"Good try, but no! I activate both my Set Cards, two copies of Book of Moon to flip my monsters facedown!"
"Protecting your monsters, eh? Not a bad move."
"Thanks! In my second Main Phase, I'll flip up my Assailant since he didn't attack, then I'll Set a backrow and pass turn!"
"My turn! Draw!" Ao chuckled upon seeing his draw for turn. "Bad news, you're not the only one with this neat little Spell! I activate Terraforming to get myself another Legendary Ocean! Now that your Necrovalley is gone, I tribute my Set Sinister Serpent to Summon Levia Dragon - Daedalus, and activate its effect, sacrificing my Ocean to destroy all other cards on the field!"
"I activate my Trap, Ring of Destruction, destroying your Dragon and dealing us both 2600 damage!"
"Well, seems we're both out of cards and low on Life Points. Guess it all comes down to whoever draws a monster first. Your move."
Ao: 650 Life Points.
Taza: 500 Life Points.
"Draw!" Taza looked over at his card slowly. He smiled. "You're right, it does come down to whoever draws a monster first. I Normal Summon Gravekeeper's Assailant and attack you directly."
Ao: 0 Life Points.
Taza: 500 Life Points.
Ao shrugged. "Oh well, it was a good run while it lasted. Sorry, boss, looks like they were too much for me." He calmly removed his Duel Disk, setting it on the ground and walking away.
"Shiro!" growled Chairo. "You're up. Don't. Fail. Me. Or. Else."
"My holy light will shine down upon these heathens and cast judgment."
"Noroi. Your turn, kid," said Enzo. "Show these assholes what you got."
"With pleasure," replied Noroi with a smirk.
"May my divine light bathe your wretched soul and cleanse you," said Shiro.
"Divine light? You think too highly of yourself," retorted Noroi, raising his Duel Disk. "Admittedly, you may have a point about my soul being wretched, but I don't think that's for some weird zealot to decide. Let's Duel!"
Shiro raised his Duel Disk, the holo system engaged, and they began. Shiro drew his opening five, and his sixth for the turn.
"I activate the effect of my Thunder Dragon, discarding it to add two more copies of it to my hand! Next, I Normal Summon Ninja Grandmaster Sasuke and activate my Field Spell, Luminous Spark! I'll Set two backrow and end my turn!"
"Light monsters gain 500 Attack, eh?" remarked Noroi. He checked his opening hand and smiled. "Fine by me. Draw!"
Call of the Haunted. Perfect! Drawing another monster would have been less than ideal here. "I Normal Summon Blade Knight, then Set four in my backrow! Now that I only have one card left in my hand, Blade Knight gets a 400 point boost on top of the boost from Luminous Spark! Now, Blade Knight will attack your Ninja!"
"Not so fast! I activate the Trap, Phoenix Wing Wind Blast! I discard one of my Thunder Dragons to send that Blade Knight back to the top of your deck!"
"Alright, fine by me. You'll have to deal with it next turn anyway, so that'll end my turn."
"During your End Phase, I activate my other Set card, MST, and I'll target your leftmost backrow card!"
"You hit my Trap Dustshoot, not that I could use it right now anyways."
"Alright, my turn. Draw! First, I Normal Summon Asura Priest! Then, I remove my two Thunder Dragons in my grave from play to bring out Soul of Purity and Light! Now, Asura Priest will attack you directly!"
"I activate my Trap, Dust Tornado, destroying your Field Spell!"
"Fine. Even without the stat boost, this will still be a lot of damage! Asura Priest attacks you directly, followed by my Sasuke, and then Soul of Purity and Light!"
"I activate Book of Moon to flip your Soul facedown!"
"So you saved yourself from taking some damage. You will still be judged soon enough. During my End Phase, Asura Priest returns to my hand. Your move."
Shiro: 8000 Life Points.
Noroi: 4500 Life Points.
"My turn!"
"Yes, draw that Blade Knight again. Not that he'll do you much good here."
Noroi didn't want to admit it, but this zealot was right. Soul's effect gave his monsters a 300 Attack reduction during his Battle Phase, so even trying to run it over with Blade Knight would do little good since that debuff would apply as soon as it flipped, and it would be 100 Defense higher than Blade Knight's Attack. Thankfully, offense wasn't his only option, thanks to a new card he'd added in the previous night.
"Who said Blade Knight was the only monster I opened up with? I Normal Summon Zombyra the Dark! With 2100 Attack Points, none of your monsters can get past him!"
Shiro scowled. He hadn't been counting on that. "Not yet, at least. We'll see what my next draw has to say about that."
"Go ahead, it's your turn."
"Not attacking while you have the chance?"
"You know as well as I do that every time Zombyra destroys a monster, he loses 200 Attack. Getting rid of your Sasuke only to have him get run down by Soul doesn't sound like the best move, so I'll end my turn."
"Very well. Draw!"
Noroi waited with bated breath. No doubt Shiro had some way to answer a simple beatstick in his deck somewhere, and if he drew it, he'd be at a huge disadvantage.
"Lucky you. I flip up my Soul of Purity and Light and end my turn."
"Draw!" Noroi's luck held. "I activate Reinforcement of the Army, and add Exiled Force from my deck to my hand! Next, I'll Normal Summon it and activate its effect, Tributing it to destroy your Soul of Purity and Light!"
"Shit!" seethed Shiro. "That's bad."
"Swearing? That's not very holy of you, friend. Now, Zombyra will attack your Sasuke!"
Noroi could have used Call of the Haunted to revive Exiled Force and use its effect again, but he decided he'd rather save that in case a bigger problem came up down the line.
"Your turn!"
Shiro: 7700 Life Points.
Noroi: 4500 Life Points.
"Draw! I'll Set a monster and pass the turn!"
"Got you on the defensive now, huh? That didn't take much."
"Just take your turn, heathen."
"Fine, fine. Draw!" That would be a useful card later on, but for now, it was time to deploy the card that had already been sitting in hand.
"I Normal Summon Blade Knight! He'll get his 400 Attack boost since I only have one card in hand, and now Zombyra will attack your Set monster!"
"When Shining Angel dies, I can Special Summon a Light monster from my deck in Attack Position, as long as it doesn't have more than 1500 Attack, including another Shining Angel!"
"Fine, then. Blade Knight will attack your new Angel."
"With this Angel's effect, I'll bring out D.D. Warrior Lady!"
"Alright, then. I'll end my turn."
Shiro: 7200 Life Points.
Noroi: 4500 Life Points.
"My turn! Draw! I Normal Summon Freed the Brave Wanderer and activate his effect! By removing two Light monsters in my grave from play, I can destroy any monster on the field with higher Attack than Freed! Say goodbye to Blade Knight! Now, Battle Phase! Warrior Lady will crash into Zombyra! I may take some damage, but it will trigger her effect to remove both of them from play! Then, Freed will attack you directly!"
"I activate my final Trap Card, Call of the Haunted! With it, I'll revive my Blade Knight!"
"Damn. I can only use Freed's effect once per turn, so I have to let you go now."
Shiro: 7000 Life Points.
Noroi: 4500 Life Points.
"Draw! I Normal Summon Don Zaloog and enter my Battle Phase!"
"Don Zaloog?! Oh no."
"Ah, you're familiar! Good. Blade Knight takes down Freed, then Don Zaloog will attack you directly! Now that he's dealt you damage, I get to discard a random card from your hand! I think I'll go for the center card!"
"Bad luck! You hit my Thunder Dragon!"
"Shit. Oh, well. Had to take the chance. I'll Set a backrow and end my turn."
Shiro: 6700 Life Points.
Noroi: 4500 Life Points.
"My turn! I activate Heavy Storm, destroying all Spell and Trap Cards on the field, and since Call of the Haunted is destroyed, so is your Blade Knight! Next, I'll Summon Asura Priest again, and attack your Don Zaloog! That's my turn, and Asura Priest will once again return to my hand."
Shiro: 6700 Life Points.
Noroi: 4200 Life Points.
Noroi was in a tight spot. He had gone from having all the momentum in his favor to relying solely on the top card of his deck. "Draw!" Thankfully, the top card of his deck was a pretty sweet one. "I remove from play Don Zaloog and Blade Knight from my Graveyard to Special Summon the mighty Chaos Sorcerer, and attack you directly! Your move."
Shiro: 4400 Life Points.
Noroi: 4200 Life Points.
"Chaos Sorcerer. That's annoying. Draw! I'll Set a monster and end my turn."
"My turn! Draw! I activate Delinquent Duo, paying 1000 Life Points to rip the last two cards out of your hand! Next, Chaos Sorcerer attacks your Set monster!
"My third and final Shining Angel's effect triggers, allowing me to bring forth Theban Nightmare!"
"What the hell is that?!"
"Glad you asked, you filthy heathen! While Theban Nightmare has a baseline Attack stat of 1500, that number is doubled while I have no backrow cards and no cards in hand! Your Delinquent Duo completely backfired, and now I have a monster capable of destroying your Sorcerer!"
"Shit. I can't use Sorcerer's effect the turn he attacks, so I have to end my turn."
Shiro: 4400 Life Points.
Noroi: 3200 Life Points.
"Draw! I Normal Summon Mirage Dragon to maintain Theban Nightmare's Attack boost! Now, it will take down your Chaos Sorcerer! Then, Mirage Dragon attacks you directly!"
"Damn. Just when I thought this was going in my favor."
"I told you that you would be judged. Now, take your turn, you dirty heathen."
"Seriously, man, the religious zealotry is getting on my last fucking nerve."
Shiro: 4400 Life Points.
Noroi: 900 Life Points.
"Draw! I activate the Spell Premature Burial! I'll pay 800 Life Points to revive my Chaos Sorcerer, and activate his effect to remove Theban Nightmare from play!"
"No! Damn you!"
"Again with the swearing? I get it. It must be frustrating to have this 'filthy heathen' constantly throwing a wrench in your gameplan. I end my turn."
Shiro: 4400 Life Points.
Noroi: 100 Life Points.
"Whatever. Your Life Points are so low a stiff breeze could cost you the Duel! Draw! I activate Pot of Greed to draw 2 more cards! Then, I'll Set a monster and remove Theban Nightmare and D.D. Warrior Lady from my grave to Special Summon another Soul of Purity and Light in Defense Position! Then, I'll switch Mirage Dragon to Defense and end my turn."
"Walling up since you're not finding an answer? Makes sense," teased Noroi.
"I'll still beat you, don't you worry. It just might take a little longer than I thought is all."
"Yeah, okay. My turn! Chaos Sorcerer will use his effect to remove Soul of Purity and Light! Then, I'll Set a backrow and end my turn."
"Draw! I activate another copy of Luminous Spark, granting all Light monsters 500 extra Attack points! I end my turn."
"Draw! I activate Reinforcement of the Army, allowing me to add Mystic Swordsman Lv2 to my hand! I'll Summon it and have Chaos Sorcerer remove Mirage Dragon from play! Then, my Swordsman will attack your last monster, and since it's facedown, Mystic Swordsman automatically destroys it without flipping it! Now that you've got no monsters left to defend yourself, you'll be wide open next turn! Go ahead."
"I draw, and the card I drew is the Spell Card, Snatch Steal! I'll equip it to your Chaos Sorcerer and gain control of it!"
"Not so fast! I activate the Trap, Solemn Judgment! By paying half my Life Points, I'll negate and destroy your Spell!"
"Dammit! I have no cards left, so my turn is over."
Shiro: 4400 Life Points.
Noroi: 50 Life Points.
"You do realize, if I draw a monster, it's all over, right?" asked Noroi.
"Just take your damn turn."
"Fine, shit. Draw!" Noroi smiled. "It's over. I Normal Summon another Blade Knight. Now, all three of my monsters attack you for game!"
Shiro: 0 Life Points.
Noroi: 50 Life Points.
"I'm sorry, sir," said Shiro, turning and bowing to Chairo. "My holy light has failed to subdue this apostate."
"Enough of your stupid religious bullshit!" roared Chairo, leaping down from the top of the steps and bringing his fist down on the back of Shiro's head, knocking him unconscious immediately. "You incompetent piece of shit! How could you lose to a damn teenager! You're a fucking disgrace to the Dustshoots and to Dueling!" he kicked Shiro in the gut, knocking him aside. "Alright, you brat! You got what you wanted! So get over here and Duel me!"
Tatsumaki stood. "It's about damn time I got to do something. I was getting bored standing by and watching my crewmates rock your gang's shit. Seriously, most of those Duels were like watching Mohammed Ali fight a boxing match against a toddler! This is the oh so fearsome Dustshoot Gang? What a bunch of pathetic losers! And I guess that makes you the Head Loser!"
Chairo had had enough of this brat's trash talk. "How about I just beat you down with my fists instead of my cards? That'll shut you up!"
Tatsumaki saw that one coming and pulled his knife. "For one, I have this. For two, it'd be nine against one. You're alone now, remember? You might be tough, but can you really take on all of us at once in a brawl?"
Chairo stepped back a bit, and Tatsumaki smirked. He was in the power seat, psychologically speaking. If he could keep rattling Chairo and using shit talk to frustrate him, the Duel was basically already won.
"Now, let's get this over with, so the Dustshoot Gang can be put to rest, permanently."
