Sister Fanfic: A Grand Order of Heroes

Grima couldn't help but let out a whistle as he stared at the devastation left by Karna's final attack.

"Wow, talk about going out with a bang."

Even from this far away, the sheer heat that emanated from the explosion was enough to make the air humid from all the water contained inside the forest evaporating into the atmosphere.

"Grima. I know you are The Fell Dragon, but please keep your comments to yourself. You are being insensitive." Grima scoffed at Marth's scolding him from admiring the devestation before him.

Suddenly a bright flash of light appeared near the middle of the camp. Everyone in the resistance raised their weapons in a flash, believing it to be an enemy attack, but to their relief, it was just Gudao and his group.

"Is everyone ok?! Romani told us an army of Demon God pillars ambushed you!" Then he looked around and his flight or fight response dulled, "Wait, where are they?"

Grima decided to speak before anyone else could give him a rundown of the situation. He was the one in charge of taking care of them, so he decided it was his duty to say something.

"You missed the fireworks." Unfortunately for everyone involved, his explanation only made things more confusing for everyone.

"Fireworks? What do you mean?" Gudao asked with furrowed brows.

Unlike Grima, Marth had no patience for such wordplay and said, "he means the giant explosion that was caused by Karna releasing his noble phantasm"

Gudao blinked for a moment before looking at the ground dejectedly, "oh." Then he immediately lifted his head up, as if he remembered something, "Wait, where is grail?!"

Marth reached for his belt and untied the chalice from it. Then he walled up to Gudao and gave it to him. The young master reached up and grabbed it, and as soon as he did, the world shook.

"The singularity has been resolved," Romani said over the comms, then he looked at Gudao and gave him a somber look, "You know what to do Gudao." With that piece said, Romani's figure disappeared.

It was at this time that the surrounding heroic spirits began to fade, seeing this Gudao nearly panicked because he had forgotten something crucial. He hadn't asked them if they were willing to join them yet.

"Do any of you wish to join us? We could use the help."

The slowly dissipating servants looked between each other and to his disappointment, many shook their heads.

"As much as I would love to join you, sadly, I must go down with my ship," Edison said as he looked to his army, who were confused about what was happening to them.

"Same goes for me, I can't exactly leave him behind by himself after all we went through." Helena said as she stood next to Edison, "But feel free to summon us from Chaldea. I am sure other copies of us will answer the call for help."

Gudao nodded in understanding, he wasn't so vain as to demand others make contracts with him. Heroic spirits were their own people, and he respected that. He turned to Beta and Sita.

The latter nodded her head, "I will go, you have gone above and beyond to help my husband and I to reunite. And while my husband left me, he did not leave me alone. He entruusted me in your capable hands. Therefore, I would be honored to join your cause." Sita then turned to Beta and when Gudao looked at the boy, he was surprised to see him shake his head.

"Sorry, but I can't." Beta said, hearing Sita's slight gasp made it clear she was not expecting this outcome either.

"May I ask why not?" Gudao asked the young boy.

"The circumstances that led me to this singularity were abnormal, a loophole if you will. I have a contract I must fulfill, one that cannot be undone until the proper time." an apologetic looking Beta turned to his companion Sita, who looked like she was just struck in the stomach with a hammer, "Sorry Sita, but I will be going on ahead."

Seeing Sita's conflicted expression worried Gudao that she would change her mind, but thankfully that didn't seem to be the case as she understood his reasoning and gave him a hug.

Deciding to let those two have some time to say goodbye, he finally turned to Billy and Robin.

"Ah shoot, how can I say no to them puppy dog eyes? Count me in." Billy the Kid then turned to Lyn," Plus, I'm sure that Miss Lyn will be lonely without me." He winked at her, which only caused Lyn to cross her arms and to look away with a huff.

"Do what you want." However, based on her tone, it was obvious she was glad he was tagging along. Which was ironic considering how much she hated him when they first met.

"Well then, let's get this over with, I am losing transperancy as we speak," Robin Hood said as he extended his hand, which caused Gudao to hastily return the handshake.

From there, he carefully broke the temporary contracts before quickly renewing them with a permanent one.

First was Robin Hood, then Sita, and finally, it was Billy's turn.

Just before their hands touched, something happened that he had not been prepared for. A familiar growling sound rang in his ears.

A cold sweat fell down Gudao's spine as he barely managed to look up and he froze. Two beady yellow demonic eyes were staring into his soul. Those eyes filled with so much hate, anger, and vengeance.

The wolf that had managed to escape their grasp appeared once again and it had just ambushed them again.

Gudao felt like a deer staring at headlights, completely still despite the huge mass of fur headed his way from above the treetops.

How had it managed to avoid everyone? Had it been following them all this time? Those were the thoughts that ran through his mind as he saw the wolf aiming its teeth at his neck.

Luckily for him, and unfortunately for the wolf, he was pushed out of the way by the nearest servant, which happened to be Billy.

Gudao looked at the scene in horror, as he saw Billy get his throat ripped from his neck.

"BILLY!" Lyn's shriek caused the camp to grow tense as they too were caught off guard by the seemingly random attack.

The wolf put his massive paw on Billy's frame and pulled, ripping flesh from Billy's spiritual body. The small trickle of magical energy that he had been losing quickly turned into a flurry of magical golden balls of light.

The beast was unsatisfied with his kill and turned to his true target once more. His bloody maws itching to render human flesh from its bone. However, before it could pounce again, it felt a painful explosion hit his underbelly.

It whined in pain as Billy used the last bit of his power to activate his noble phantasm. Unfortunately, all it did was piss the animal off as it finished the downed cowboy off by smashing his head into a paste with its massive paw.

Gudao stared at the scene in shock and a glob of bile climbed to his throat at the display of ultra-violence before his eyes.

The beast took that as a moment of weakness and immediately charged at the distraught master, only for a loud clap to deafen its enhanced senses as a bright flash of lightning struck its body, completely paralyzing it.

It was one of Edison's attacks that had landed.

"You foul beast! How dare you kill one of my comrades! For my last decree as Presiking, I sentence you to death by electrocution!" Edison roared at the wolf, who growled as it took the brunt of the attack and shakily got back up to its feet. Despite the danger posed by Edison, it continued to glare at Gudao.

"Gudao stand back!" Edison roared as it stared down the beast who had attacked his allies, under his watch. Yet, the beast still refused to acknowledge Edison and continued attempting to murder Gudao.

Romani, seeing the wolf doing its best to kill their last master, gave the order to rayshift Gudao back to Chaldea.

Gudao's vision turned white, and the last thing he saw was the vengeful eyes of the wolf as it had tried and failed to rip his throat out.

"Are you sure you should be walking now Mash?" Corrin asked Mash with worry as they walked out of the infirmary.

"I'm fine Corrin, Mash Kyrielight is ready for the next mission!" Mash said with enthusiasm in her voice, but Corrin couldn't help but feel skeptical.

It had been a few days since they had completed the 5th singularity.

Gudao had nearly died when the wolf that had stalked them lunged at him, but they had been lucky Chaldea had managed to pull him out before he was attacked. Then, if that wasn't bad enough. Mash collapsed out of nowhere. She had recovered after a day but she was still advised to stay in bed for a few more days.

Today was the last day Romani ordered her to stay where she was and she was only here to pick her up on her way to see Gudao.

"If you say so, but try and take it easy anyway, we still have a bit of time before we dive into the next singularity."

"Of course."

Mash and Corrin make it to Gudao's room and knock. Unfortunately, it seemed like he wasn't in his room.

"Hmm, I wonder where he is," Corrin wondered.

Mashu chose at that moment to check his connection with Gudao, at least that is what Corrin thought as Mashu and a bunch of the other heroic spirits get this far-off look whenever they are communicating mentally.

"He's in the gym, working off some stress." Mashu stated, "he said we can come over, he's almost done."

"Great, let's go then," Corrin said before she paused and noticed Mashu wasn't following behind her.

"Something the matter?"

"Has anyone seen Lyn anywhere? I haven't seen her since we came back," the young girl said with a somber tone in her tone of voice.

"She's still been sulking in her room," Corrin told her.

"Ah, I see," Mashu said but eventually they walked towards the training room together. Suddenly, Corrin spoke up.

"Mash. How do you guys do it? How can you just move on after meeting so many allies and friends, only for them to end up going away and never coming back."

Mashu took a moment to properly formulate a response. She forgot that, unlike the Fujimaru twins, herself, and everyone else in Chaldea, this is the Hero Summon's first singularity.

"I had gotten so used to waking up every morning and greeting Geronimo and the others, so being here just feels… surreal."

"Yeah, I know what you mean, all of us went through a lot of what you are feeling at first."

Corrin was used to saying goodbye to comrades after death, but seeing them come back after watching them be brutally murdered, acting as a complete stranger who didn't remember what happened to them or what they meant to you… it was different.

"I still remember all the days and nights we spent with the heroic spirits, no, our friends when we wandered from place to place while trying to restore the Human Order. The time I spent with them was precious and I was depressed for a while when their singularities ended.

But, I know that despite the fact the resummoned heroes don't remember us, I still keep their memories in my heart. Even if we never meet again, so long as we remember them, they will never truly vanish."

That was rather heartwarming.

Geez, look at her, being all negative when a meek girl like Mash is showing such a strong resolve and optimism during this tragedy.

Yet despite being aware of this fact, "I just hope Lyn doesn't relapse too hard when the time comes to resummon Billy. "

"I agree, but if she does, we can always be there for her," Mashu then looked like she remembered something, " Oh! We should go invite Lyn for some Ice cream! Doctor Roman said it always helps whenever you feel down!"

"Doesn't that just apply to breakups?" Corrin asked with a bit of skepticism in her voice.

"No? I am not sure, but it wouldn't hurt to try!" Mash said with a glint of determination in her eye.

Corrin shook her head and said, "Okay, lets go cheer up Lyn then, after we go pick up Ritsuka."

"Right!"

Author's Note: And that is the end of the sidestory. I had not planned for it to have turned out like this, originally I was going to blitz through the singularities and Books with a chapter or four, but this got out of hand when I really got into it.

Only the final omake left, hopefully I can get it done over the weekend. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for reading!
