Chapter 14

(Language Class)

In the Language Class at school, our teacher is Professor Salvatore. He begins the class with a warm greeting, saying, "My dear students! How ARE you all today? Feeling good, I hope? Je m'appelle Salvatore. My name is Salvatore! Merci beaucoup! That is, thank you very much for your attention here in my class! I'm so heureux—or happy—for this chance to re-experience my younger days with you all!"

He continues with enthusiasm, "Do you know what 'Salvatore' means? It means 'savior'! So just imagine I'm here to SAVE you from spooooky new languages. Haha! Funny, no? That's right! My classes will teach you about various languages from different regions. You may say 'Good morning!' or 'Hello!' as a greeting, but people from elsewhere may say 'Bonjour!' or 'Salut!' I've heard there's even a popular streamer out there who smashes several languages together and says, ''Ello, 'ello, hola! Ciao and bonjour!''"

I wonder, "Is he mentioning Iono, the famous live-streamer, as it is her catchphrase?"

Serena whispers back, "I have no idea."

Professor Salvatore continues, "There are so many regions out there in the world, and each can have their own unique languages! Gracias, merci, xièxie, arigato, danke—these all have the same meaning! Can you guess what it is?"

I raise my hand and venture a guess, "Thank you?"

Salvatore rewards me with a warm smile, "Waouh! Florian, was it? Bravo! That's correct! And speaking up is important in language learning, too! Gracias, merci, xièxie—these words all mean "thank you." I guess some of you probably knew at least one of those! Despite meaning the same thing, their lengths and sounds are all different! Isn't that interesting?"

The insight certainly catches my attention. Salvatore continues, "And now, apropos of nothing, let me give you all one of my wise words of advice! When you travel abroad, you should try to speak the local language as much as you can—even if you can't speak it very well! I'm sure your willingness to try will make the people you meet très heureux—very happy! Honestly, from my experience, just being able to say "hello," "delicious," and "thank you" in the local language will get you pretty far. For everything else, just pretend you're Mr. Mime and gesture away!"

As the bell rings, Salvatore sighs, "Oh! There's that pesky bell. I guess that's all the time we have for today! Well, adios! Mata ne! À la prochaine! See you later, everyone!"

After class, we decide to pay a visit to Professor Salvatore in his office.

"Oh! Florian and Juliana! Did you come all the way here to the staff room just to see me?" Salvatore exclaims with a welcoming smile.

"We sure did," Serena confirms.

"Hahaha! Seems I've finally made it into the hearts of my students! That makes me très happy! After all, like I said in class, communication is very important! If there's anything you're confused about in class, or if you're having trouble here at the academy...you can always come here and tell me, ton ami Salvatore—your friend Salvatore, that is! Ouais!" Salvatore says with warmth in his voice.

As we leave Professor Salvatore's office, I can't help but smile, knowing we have a true friend and mentor in him.

(Biology Class 2)

At the front, Professor Jacq stands with a beaming smile, his eyes twinkling behind round glasses.

"Hello, hello. I hope everyone's ready to learn some new things today!" Professor Jacq's voice rings out clear and cheerful, instantly capturing the attention of the class. There's a murmur of assent, and a few students nod enthusiastically.

"Did you all try letting your Pokémon out as I taught you in our last class?" Jacq asks, leaning slightly forward with a look of genuine curiosity. Several hands shoot up, including me and Serena, and a chorus of affirming responses fills the room.

"Walking along with your Pokémon lets you see how unique and cute they all are. I'd also highly recommend picnics for when you want to spend some quality time together with the Pokémon in your party. You can get them all around the table to make sandwiches and play—it's really a lot of fun!" Jacq's enthusiasm is infectious, and even the more reserved students can't help but smile.

"If you want to learn more about making food, Mr. Saguaro's class is the best place to go! Now, sometimes, while you're enjoying a picnic with your Pokémon..." Jacq's tone shifts, hinting at a mystery. The class leans in, intrigued. "You may find something very, VERY important in the basket next to your table!"

The room goes silent, everyone hanging on to his next words. "This very important something is what Pokémon are born from. Let's all say it together!" Jacq encourages, his excitement palpable.

The class shouts in unison, "Eggs!"

Jacq claps his hands, delighted. "Phew! You all got it right! The very important something I'm talking about is...a Pokémon Egg! It's not clear where these Eggs come from, but they're probably placed in the basket rather stealthily by the Pokémon at the picnic. Walking around with an Egg will help warm it, which allows it to hatch. Eggs won't warm up by sitting in Boxes, though. You need to have them in your party!"

"And here's one more super important thing I'd like you to remember about Eggs. Pokémon entrust us with their Eggs because they believe in us! So, I sure would be happy to see you all being responsible parents for your little Pokémon Eggs!" Jacq concludes with a bright smile, his eyes sweeping over the class.

Just as he's about to continue, the bell rings, signaling the end of the class.

"Whoops. My most important point came right as the bell rang. Well, see you all next time, I guess!" Jacq says with a chuckle, his cheerful demeanor undiminished.

As the students file out, chatting excitedly about Pokémon Eggs and picnics, the air fills with a sense of adventure and responsibility – a perfect blend of learning and wonder that Professor Jacq always brings to his Biology class.

(Math Class)

Tyme, the teacher, stands at the front of the classroom with an easy smile and a sparkle in her eye. "Hello, everyone. Let's have a fun class today," she greets, her voice bright and inviting.

She looks around the room, her gaze meeting each student's. "Tell me, do you all enjoy shopping? Buying tasty bread or choosing new clothes—even just window shopping is so much fun!"

The students nod, some more enthusiastically than others. Tyme's love for the topic is infectious. "In today's class, I'd like to use shopping—one of my own favorite hobbies, mind you—to teach you all about math!" Tyme announces, and there's a ripple of curiosity through the class.

"I'm sure everyone here has visited a Poké Mart at least once. They sell all sorts of Pokémon items! Poké Balls are one of the many useful items you can find there. They cost 200 dollars each," she explains, her hands gesturing to emphasize her points.

"Now then, I'd like you all to do some thinking with me here! One Poké Ball is 200 dollars. If you had 2000 dollars and bought as many Poké Balls as you could afford, how many would you receive?" Tyme poses the question, her eyes scanning the class for their reactions.

The room buzzes with whispers and calculations, some would've guessed the answer is 10. Serena hesitantly raises her hand, "Eleven?"

Tyme beams at her, "That's correct! Well done, Juliana. With 2000 dollars, you can afford to purchase a maximum of 10 Poké Balls... However! If you purchase 10 or more of any one type of Poké Ball... You will also receive one Premier Ball—a special white ball—as a bonus! So the correct answer is, in fact, 11! It sure is nice to get a little bonus like that on a shopping trip, isn't it?"

The students murmur among themselves, impressed with the twist in the question. Just as Tyme is about to continue, the bell rings, signaling the end of the class.

"Oh, my. Is that the bell? I suppose that's all for now. What a shame... I'm looking forward to seeing you all in the next class. I hope you're looking forward to it, too!" Tyme says with a hint of regret, her enthusiasm for teaching evident.

(Battle Studies)

The school courtyard buzzes with life, a perfect outdoor setting for Dendra's energetic lesson. The sky is clear and blue, and the sun casts a warm glow over the students gathered around Dendra, who stands confidently in the center, her presence commanding attention.

"Another day, another round of battle study! Osu! Let's get right to it!" Dendra shouts, her voice echoing across the open space. The students, seated on the grass or standing in small clusters, turn their full attention to her, their faces bright with anticipation.

"Is everyone excited about the Treasure Hunt?!" Dendra asks, her eyes sweeping across the eager faces. "It's always a great adventure! You get to take on Gyms, go to new places, and run all over the place with your partner Pokémon!"

Excitement ripples through the crowd, some students nodding vigorously, others exchanging looks of shared enthusiasm. "And, while you're running around out there, I'll bet you'll come across some big, shining crystals fairly often as well," Dendra continues, her hands gesturing as if she's painting the scene in the air.

"These crystals are actually collections of Terastal energy that's seeped up out of the ground! You can check out these crystals to battle Tera Pokémon with your friends or other Trainers in a group of four. We call those battles...Tera Raid Battles! The Tera Pokémon you'll face off against in Tera Raid Battles are crazy tough! They sometimes act differently than regular Pokémon, so you'll need to be on your guard!" The students listen intently, their imaginations fueled by her descriptions.

"Luckily, Trainers can also use a special action in Tera Raid Battles. It's called cheering!" Dendra's voice carries a note of excitement. She explains the three types of cheers with animated gestures, clearly passionate about the subject.

"The third cheer restores HP for all ally Pokémon. What do you think it is?" Dendra poses the question, her gaze challenging the students.

Confident in my knowledge of Tera Raid battles, I respond, "Heal Up?"

"That's right! Maybe I should make YOU the battle teacher, huh, new kid?!" Dendra exclaims, her laughter ringing out, drawing smiles from the students. "The third and final cheer is "Heal up!" It's a real powerhouse, with the ability to both restore HP and cure status conditions! You can cheer up to three times during a single Tera Raid Battle. Also, cheering uses up a turn in battle, so you won't be able to have your Pokémon use any of their moves when you cheer!" The students listen, nodding and murmuring among themselves, clearly intrigued.

"In conclusion! Try everything at your disposal! If nothing seems to be working, try cheering on your allies! Providing support for your team can sometimes open up a new realm of possibilities!" Dendra concludes, her voice imbued with enthusiasm and encouragement.

Just as she's gearing up for a more hands-on demonstration, the bell rings, its sound carrying clearly through the courtyard.

"Aw, man! I was just about to suggest we do some hands-on practice to really drive the point home, but I guess we're out of time... Class is over for now! Take care, you little rascals!" Dendra says, a mix of disappointment and fondness in her voice.

The students disperse from the courtyard, chatting excitedly about Tera Raid Battles and the tactics they've learned, inspired by Dendra's lively lesson under the open sky.

"Looks like we did learn a lot," I sigh after taking a lot of classes.

"Yeah, how about we continue our treasure hunt tomorrow? Where are we going then?" Serena asks.

"How about exploring the West Province Area 1? There's a Team Star Base and an Open Sky Titan over there," Drandon suggests.

"That sounds like a great idea," Luke adds, wrapping up our conversation with excitement building for our next adventure.
