The next afternoon, Professor Sycamore roused Lysandre from his catnap under the sun. "Can we go for a little fly around the region?" Professor Sycamore asked, hoping to receive a positive response. "Maybe later." Lysandre replied, curling up again. Despite the ambiguous reply, Professor Sycamore still held out hope.
Later, he asked Lysandre again and this time, he agreed. "So how do I ride you?" Professor Sycamore started, attempting to climb on Lysandre's shoulders. "Professor, what are you doing?" he replied. "You know those people that ride Noivern and Charizard, right?" Professor Sycamore asked. Lysandre nodded before realising what his friend meant. "I think we should go outside for this. There's more space for me to stretch my wings and I don't want to destroy my house." Lysandre's friend agreed before both of them went outside. Once there, Lysandre turned his head towards Professor Sycamore. "Are you all set?" he asked. "I'm always ready!" Lysandre's friend replied.
Satisfied, Lysandre flapped his wings and prepared to fly, Professor Sycamore clinging onto Lysandre's fur for dear life. After a minute, Lysandre and his friend were airborne. From Lysandre's perspective, Lumiose City looked small, yet filled with life. He soon flew over parts of the Kalos region. He passed over the Glittering Cave, Pokémon Village, Parfum Palace, and Geosenge Town and at each stop, Professor Sycamore made statements of wonder and excitement. After all, it was a perfect night for flying. Not too cold, not too warm. The sunset creating beautiful streaks of colour across the sky. The wind ruffling his hair, and in all of this, he began to cry tears of joy. "This is the best night of my life!" he shouted at the top of his lungs, and in response, Lysandre began to roar triumphantly.
After two hours of flying, Lysandre and Professor Sycamore rested on the roof of the Pokémon League and watched the sunset. "Lysandre," Professor Sycamore started. "Thank you for giving me the best night of my life. It feels like I travelled through more of this region in this time than when I travelled on foot!" Lysandre replied with an "I'm glad I was able to give you the best night of your life. I had the best night of my life as well." Professor Sycamore then hugged Lysandre joyfully. "I love you!" he said, tears prickling the corners of his eyes. For the rest of the night, Lysandre and Professor Sycamore sat and watched the sun go down and the moon rise up.
The next morning, Professor Sycamore woke up and waited for Lysandre to wake up. From where they both slept and sat, the sky was painted in brilliant shades of red, orange, yellow, blue, and purple and when Lysandre woke up, the colours of the sky reflected off his black scales, giving him an iridescent coat. "Good morning, my draconic friend!" Professor Sycamore said, putting a hand on Lysandre's ruffled hair. In response, Lysandre purred drowsily and smiled. "Morning, Professor. Should we head back now?" he asked, his voice husky from sleep. "That would be a wonderful idea." Professor Sycamore replied and soon enough, he and Lysandre headed back to Lumiose City, laughing and talking all the while.
