A friend of mine recently fell in love with the manga Rosario Vampire and convinced me to read it with her. She absolutely loves it and requested that I write this story on her behalf. We're good buds and it seemed fun, so why not! Because it is written by the two of us, updates will be less frequent than my other stories and thus won't be in the rotation. More likely this is a temporary home for this story, should my friend decide to create her own account. Until then it is on here.

For the sake of saving time and easing possible disappointments here are some things to expect. If you wish to be completely free from any previews, feel free to skip to the chapter's opening:

Changes to Tsukune Aono and other characters: Expect a more confident and emotionally strong character. There are changes to his background to help flesh him out as a character, rather than a typical harem protagonist and with those changes comes an effect on Tsukune as a person. He will struggle to accept and grow in his relationships. As for other characters, they too will be expanded upon a little bit to further develop them from the tropes they embody. This is not a character acting OC, but rather characters acting a bit in regard to their backstories and history more logically. I admit, there will be some expansions that create differences in these characters, but I hope that I have remained true to their core as people. The comedy and romance are still there, with a depth of seriousness and exploration added.

Polyamory: This is not a Harem story. To me, a harem story is effectively one dude who has multiple relationships, and everyone is magically ok with it and it's just about sex. Not all Harem stories follow this pattern but enough do that I prefer not to use the term in this story (though technically that is what this is). This is a journey, an exploration into the idea of creating a genuine poly relationship filled with, yes physical, but also emotional depths. That there is more to a relationship than just what the body can bring. Hopefully, I do this justice and with respect.

Yukari: Fuck no. Don't care, don't bitch. Yukari is not part of the relationship, nor will she be when she is older. She is a 12-year-old who is struggling emotionally both due to puberty and being alone surrounded by monsters and stuff. Expect an exploration of her attitude. No Yukari bashing though, she's a witch so expect some pretty sweet magic. But yea, no sexual harassment up in this story. Consent bitches.

Canon Events: Canon events will occur. But as usual, I'll be putting my own spin on things and how they develop. Keeps things interesting. If you want a religious following of canon events…just read the damn manga. We know what this is folks, no need to pretend otherwise.

Exploration of Monster culture and the acceptance of other beliefs: Tsukune, as a human, will have different values than his companions. He has to learn to accept them as they have to learn to accept him.

Romance and Action in equal measure: Tsukune will be in a progressive relationship. That means no 100-plus chapters of dick all happening. I hate that. It works for Shonen but for something that has romance in its tag Rosario Vampire was severely lacking in the earlier segments (but damn does it get good later). It will question the stereotypical role of a man protecting a woman and Tsukune coming to terms with it, only for it to rear its head again when Tsukune gains strength. What role does he play in their relationship? Does he need to have a role in the first place? Is he a man because he can protect his "women"? Is he an asshole because he believes that is expected of him? Things will be interesting, no doubt. I guess this story may also explore the concepts of masculinity, femininity, and all that exists between and beyond. Though that isn't something me and my friend had specific goals of exploring. As such, take it as you will.

Timeline: The current year will be the background for the manga. I know it takes place years ago but the truth of the matter is that the manga was always set in a "modern setting" not necessarily in the 2000s just because. This is just for certain technologies and other such things, not that important in the grand scheme of things. Don't need a witch hunt because Tsukune has an iPhone or something.

Lastly, Tsukune Aono becomes a monster: I may have Tsukune become a different sort of monster than a Vampire. It will not be something absurd like a demi-god. I have two avenues but unlike my other stories, this will be a personal choice. No voting. Not going to lie, it is likely the vampire route, almost overwhelmingly so, but Tsukune will have abilities long before that point and his development may change my mind. Curious? Well, read on and find out.

Also, this story will jump from perspectives. People seem to really like how I've done the personal perspective and the narrative perspective intertwined. I'm not entirely seamless with it yet but the experiment with that continues in this series. So please, any criticisms are always welcome. Unlike Legends of the Strawhats, this story will mostly be told in the narrators P.O.V. So please, any criticisms are always welcome.

As always, FUCK CANON

Rosario Vampire Supernatural Love:

-Narrator's P.O.V-

Tsukune, a young man of fifteen years, waved goodbye to his parents. Today was the day that he started his life as a high school student. It was a momentous day for any school-going child…though admittedly for the young Tsukune, it was also a sombre one. The bus doors opened as Tsukune's stepfather opened the bus's compartments for his other bags. The larger man winked as he mouthed "I packed it". Tsukune smiled at the man before boarding. Shifting through his backpack Tsukune got out his headphones. He went to thank the driver and damn near shit a brick.

"GAH!"

The bus driver, whose face was obscured by an impossible darkness, was smoking heavily on a cigar. The man's laugh echoed through the bus, tinged by a lifetime of smoking. The heavy smoke merely added to the driver's…mystique.

"Find your seat, youngin. Can't have you being flung around the bus!"

The man personified the creepy but Tsukune found his voice, refusing to be rude.

"Sorry about that sir, wasn't expecting…well…"

"I get you youngin, find your seat."

Grimacing at the guilt he felt, Tsukune did just that. Tsukune went to find a seat. Going to the middle of the bus, Tsukune began bobbing his head to the music. He made sure to see his parents' faces at least one more time, waving goodbye. The drive to the school was filled with equal parts of excitement and anxiety. Even his favourite songs, both domestic and foreign, did little to ease his mood. Watching his town slowly disappear into the distance only made the young man ruminate on how this came to be. On how a young man like him had to attend school way out in the country. The boy sighed, remembering everything about this whole situation. How he got here was relatively simple, if a bit depressing. You see-

"We're here."

Tsukune stilled, stopping his music. He blinked, looking around. He was in a completely different area. He took out his phone, eyes widening at the time.

"How" he muttered, "it was barely thirty minutes!"

"I'm that good!" chuckled the bus driver. He turned to the boy, his eyes nothing but pools of light hidden beneath a veil of shadow.

"Bullshit," thought Tsukune.

Either way, the boy went to get off, if only to get away from the eerie grin of the bus driver. As he moved past the driver, the man couldn't help but have the final word.

"Now to be careful there boy. Yokai Academy is filled with monsters!"

"Yokai Academy" muttered Tsukune "who on earth names a school that way."

At first, Tsukune had assumed his parents had been scammed. Yet, the truth was apparent after some research and paperwork. After a few days, the young man found himself enrolled in Yokai Academy. The uniform had been delivered with him on a scholarship of all things. No matter where he searched Tsukune could only find that Yokai Academy was a real, albeit highly selective, school.

It must have been due to that peculiarity that Tsukune was even given a scholarship in the first place. After all, how does a delinquent like him got such a thing was beyond Tsukune. The young man put his hands in his pocket, raising his eyebrows at the…décor of the place. It was in one word, creepy. Hell, this entire situation was nothing but creepy. Tsukune blinked as he looked a the desecrated trees, the barren landscape, and…were those tombstones?

"…They really went all in on the themes" he muttered. "Weird but fun".

There was only one path and so Tsukune took it. The sound of animals kept Tsukune company, though they were unlike any animals he'd ever heard. He would normally just listen to music again but honestly…he'd rather keep his ears open, just in case.

"I hope the whole school isn't like this all the time," he muttered. "I would hate to just be looking at this all the time."

It was deary and depressing. Still, there was a sense of adventure here that Tsukune was enjoying. It was so vastly different than home. He could swear that he still heard the echoing of a bicycle. The sound of someone screaming behind…wait.

"LOOK OUT!"

Tsukune turned, only to find a tire aimed right at his face. The boy moved, evoking every ounce of physical might he had to dodge. His bags and luggage that he was dragging along were thrown to the side.

"WAIT FOR A MIN-GRK!"

The bike struck him right in the shoulder, a small metal piece digging through his collarbone. It hurt like a mother but thankfully the girl was quick enough not to put her weight on it. That did lead to an interesting dilemma though. Tsukune blinked at the girl on top of him, his face feeling flushed. The way her lips glistened captivated the boy, but he swallowed. Now is not the time to be a creep…not that such a time existed in the first place.

"You alright?" asked Tsukune.

"Dumbass!" he thought "she just fell on you! Of course, she's not alright!"

The girl lifted her head further, revealing a face so beautiful and perfect that Tsukune was a bit concerned.

"…Am I dreaming" he muttered.

The girl blinked.

"Are you alright? I'm so sorry I didn't mean to crash into you!"

Tsukune blinked again. Her hair was pink of all things. But her eyes were mesmerizing and her face…dear god she was stunning. It took all of Tsukune's willpower not to stare. He was better than that…he hoped.

"it's fine" smiled Tsukune, moving to get up. "Are you ok though?"

The girl smiled brightly.

"I'm ok, just dropped all my stuff."

Tsukune helped without a second thought, getting everything, she needed. He noticed that she was wearing a large Rosary. It was intricate and beautiful. The fact it was between her breasts was erased from his conscious thought. He wasn't a lecher.

"That's a beautiful rosary. I don't think I've seen anything like it."

"The whole choker ensemble is a bit odd, but everyone has their own tastes."

The girl smiled.

"Thank you! It's something I must always keep on!"

The jovial nature of her statement made Tsukune curious.

"Oh? Why's that?"

"Oh, it prevents me from becoming a scary vampire!"

Tsukune blinked. Tsukune blinked as Moka stuck her tongue out. It was like she was joking…no she had to be joking.

"…what?"

The girl smiled more, seemingly unaware of Tsukune's deepening concerns of her mental health.

"My name's Moka, what's yours?"

"uh…it's Tsukune."

Tsukune had a habit of introducing himself by his first name thanks to John. When he was in school or in his town it was easy to revert back to proper Japanese. But here? It just left his mind without a thought, especially when Moka introduced herself by her first name…or at least he hoped was her first name. God, the last name Moka would suck.

"So" smiled Tsukune "are you a first year?"

Moka grinned widely and Tsukune saw her fangs. He blinked, staring at the unusual teeth. They weren't fake.

"The hell?" thought Tsukune.

"I am! Are you a first year as well Tsukune?"

"Yea…you sure you're ok? You're looking a little red?"

Moka nodded, her breathing becoming heavy. Tsukune followed her line of sight to his neck. He noticed there was some blood on his shirt, a scrape from the bike bleeding through.

"Oh, man. I'm sorry! I didn't know you had hemophobia…is that the right word for being scared of."

CHAPUU.

"Blood?"

He could hear her gulp down his blood. It was being sucked in gently and with only a pinch of pain. He almost tried to move but Tsukune could feel the underlying strength in this girl's arms. She held him softly, almost reverently as she absentmindedly sucked his blood. Tsukune blinked as the girl separated from him. Her eyes aglow like someone had eaten the greatest meal.

"AH! That was fantastic!"

Moka blinked as she returned to the world, her face going pale. She looked at Tsukune's shell shocked face.

"OH MY GOD! I'm so sorry! That, I mean, I shouldn't of. OH my god!"

Tsukune blinked again and touched his neck.

"You…drank my blood."

Moka grimaced and nodded.

"You're…an actual vampire?"

She nodded again.

"….cool."

Moka blinked.

"…really?"

"Of course," smiled Tsukune, a strange sense of calm swimming down his chest.

"After all, this is a dream" he thought "might as well roll with it. I mean a few hours bus ride being done in thirty minutes? I obviously dozed off!"

Tsukune kept laughing and laughing…and laughing. Moka became more and more uncomfortable at the instability of laughter. Tsukune finally had enough and threw his bag (somewhat gently) onto the ground. His calm was gone now, obviously.

"BULLSHIT!"

Moka jumped, a grimace on her face. Unbeknownst to either of them a single crimson eye opened on the rosary, narrowed.

"THIS AIN'T NO DREAM!" yelled Tsukune in English.

Moka blinked, being bilingual herself.

"…um…no it's not."

"So you're telling me you're a vampire!"

"Um…yes?"

"That this school is what? A school for monsters!?"

Moka nodded.

"Wait" she said "you say that as if you aren't one?"

"I'M NOT!"

Moka blinked. Tsukune blinked. The two became paler as she pointed at him.

"OH MY GOD!" She yelled.

"RIGHT!?"

"I/YOU SHOULDN'T BE HERE!" they yelled at each other.

Tsukune breathed and pawed at his neck.

"I had my blood sucked by vampire!?"

Moka squeezed into herself. Ready for the words that always came.

"…so…am I going to become a vampire or something?"

Moka blinked.

"…what?"

"I mean that's your thing right? A vampire bites someone and they turn into a vampire?"

"…it…well it doesn't work that way."

"Really?"

"Really."

"Oh, thank god. No offence but I like the sun!"

"Oh, we can walk in the sun. I mean it's a little uncomfortable but nothing some special sunblock can't cure."

"Wait seriously?"

Moka nodded, feeling hope surge as Tsukune blinked.

"What about crosses?"

Moka rose an eyebrow.

"Right stupid question. Wooden spikes?"

She shook her head.

"Garlic?"

"Smells awful. I hate it."

"….huh. Ok…and the whole…blood sucking thing. You uh…I'm not like your snack box right?"

Moka blinked and blushed. She shook her head rapidly.

"NO NO NO NO! I would never! You're…you're my first. I…you're blood smells amazing! So good I kind of lost control! Oh, I'm making it out to be like you're a snack! I mean you are, but you aren't I AHH!"

Tsukune's face hardened up at her tone. Moka's small blush increased as she looked away. She took a minute to collect herself and shyly looked at him. There was an apprehension there…a sort of fear that Tsukune was familiar with. His face softened, urging Moka to explain.

"I've never…fed on someone alive before. I've smelled blood before but yours…it was just so good it was irresistible! I promise I would never do something like that without permission at least! Please forgive me!"

The girl bowed and Tsukune couldn't help but sigh.

"Right" he muttered, "I get it."

"You do."

"Not even remotely. But look. If you wanted to kill me, you would have done it already. Don't you have voodoo powers? You know, something to mess with my memories and whatnot?"

"Well not me personally" smiled Moka "but I think I get what you mean. Most of my power is locked behind this rosary, sealed away so as not to harm others."

Tsukune blinked and stared at her rosary. He locked eyes with Moka, pointing at it.

"That thing?"

"Mm Hmm!"

"Locks your powers?"

"That's right!"

"…why?"

"Well…it makes it easier to make friends if everyone isn't so afraid."

Tsukune felt an arrow in his heart.

"Let's be completely straight here" his thoughts rambled "if she wasn't half as cute as she was, you'd be losing your damn mind! THIS IS A FUCKING VAMPIRE!? But…she's a cute vampire…one who apologized…and…"

Tsukune looked at Moka's empty expression in her eyes.

"…she's lonely. Damn it, why am I such a sucker for a pretty face."?"

"Well, I guess it worked!" said Tsukune, trying to be more upbeat "I'll be your friend!"

"….really" whispered Moka.

"Really. I admit, I don't belong here but if the monsters here are half as nice as you, I'll think I'll live."

His smile died as Moka's fell, her expression straining a bit.

"….I'm fucking dead aren't I?"

"Well," trailed Moka awkwardly.

-1 hour later-

"WELCOME CLASS TO YOKAI ACADEMY!" smiled their teacher.

Tsukune stared at the teacher blankly. Her ears and tail are on full display.

"…the Cat women exist," thought Tsukune "…and I have the irresistible urge to pet those ears. Too bad she would likely murder me, or worse."

Tsukune looked around the classroom. They all seemed like normal humans. But it was all a disguise.

"Here you will be learning how to co-exist with humans!" smiled the Neko-woman "and the first step to that is maintaining your human disguises! Looking good everyone!"

The room shuddered as most of the class transformed into a variety of dangerous and outright horrific creatures. One of them was a damn Mind Flayer looking thing for god's sake! Tsukune shivered. But there was one man who stayed in a mostly human form.

"He! Why on earth do we need to even stay human looking, teach? We can just take what we want! So many women to sample and eat!"

Tsukune stared at the man, his eyes narrowed in utter disdain. He turned to Moka who was beside him, his look of disbelief locking onto her outright disgusted expression.

"He's for real", isn't he?" Tsukune whispered.

Moka nodded sadly.

"None of that mister!" said the teacher "we all have to learn to co-exist in our beautiful world together or we risk dying together instead!"

Tsukune rose his hand. The teacher smiled at him, and he asked, with a stronger voice than he expected "what would happen if a human attended this school, just…curious you know. I mean we talk about co-existence but I don't think I've seen a human anywhere?"

The teacher smiled broadly.

"Of course, not silly! The human's are not ready for the truth!"

"That makes sense" thought Tsukune.

"Besides, any human on campus is killed immediately!"

"THE FUCK!?" thought Tsukune.

Even Moka's eyes were wide with a bit of terror. Whatever else the teacher was saying was ignored. The rest of her class was a blur. He couldn't hear, couldn't see. It took Moka dragging him into the hallways for him to snap out of it. Thankfully he had blanked out, or he would have been crushed by the overwhelming pressure from the male students. One watched the two leave, his expression lecherous.

In the hallways alone, Moka began rubbing Tsukune's back. Tsukune, while appreciative, didn't exactly like being babied. But he ran with it.

"I'm going to die" he whispered.

Moka blushed a bit as she gripped his hand. But her expression was fierce and solemn.

"I won't let that happen."

Tsukune felt warm…but a part of him was wondering if that was because he was just a blood bag to her.

"No," thought Tsukune "remember those assholes back home. They kept talking like they knew who my mom and John were. They assumed like you are now. Be careful…but don't be an asshole."

Trust was earned and the way Moka had apologized and was seemingly distraught about the whole affair made Tsukune trust her, for now. He nodded at her, a small smile on his face. He relaxed into her hand. It hurt to see Moka smile more at the action. It made Tsukune wonder what she was thinking at this moment.

"Thanks" he whispered.

The rest of the day's classes just droned on in the background. He couldn't even focus, the reality of the situation slowly sinking in more and more. He barely even noticed when Moka brought him to the roof. During lunch.

"Are you ok?" she asked awkwardly.

"Oh you know…getting through it" muttered Tsukune "nothing like learning all the monsters you heard about growing up are real…actually you ok with me saying that? It's not like a racist term or something right?"

Moka's smile grew a bit brighter as she shook her head. A soft expression as she explained.

"Um…well in Japan a more appropriate term would be Yokai, though that's just a nicer way of saying the same thing really."

"Yokai" muttered Tsukune "I'll go with that. You ok?"

Moka jumped, a look of disbelief on her face.

"Me?"

"Yea you. You're basically hiding a fugitive."

Moka bit her lip and looked away. Tsukune got up, having been sitting all this time. He began pacing, his thoughts spiralling further and further down a darker hole.

"I mean, you're a Yokai. You should be reporting me! I should be dead! I'm surrounded by monsters who want to EAT me…well humans but you get the point!"

Tsukune looked at Moka "You've done nothing to have me mistrust you. But…come on. I need something a bit more than my blood is irresistible. I'm…I'm freaking out here."

Moka clasped her hands. She saw the way Tsukune was getting antsier. She bit her lip and sighed.

"I…I don't like humans."

"Uh…ok."

Moka scowled a bit more, the memories fresh in her head.

"I went to a human school before here and they…they were not kind".

Tsukune could see that. Especially if she was as open to other people about her nature as she was to him. They most likely thought her a Chuuni or something and bullied the beautiful girl…vampire. Was there a term for that? Couldn't be vampiress could it?

"DAMNIT ME FOCUS" thought Tsukune.

The boy though had his own experiences. His own dark memories of the cruelty of others. Tsukune chuckled and moved to stand beside Moka. It was funny. In a way she experienced something similar to himself…it made her feel so much more human.

"Tell me about it, people can suck." smiled Tsukune, looking over the edge of the fence.

Moka blinked.

"What was their thing about you?" asked Tsukune "if you don't mind me asking?"

"It was always different things. It was my hair at first, then my rosary, and then they started calling me a Chunni when I tried to be open with who I thought was a friend."

"Yea, sounds about right. Superficial stuff…though maybe telling a normal person you're a vampire isn't exactly the best idea? Isn't there a whole secrecy thing going on?"

Moka blushed heavily.

"I…they were my first friend."

"Now I have the sudden urge to punch whoever that was," thought Tsukune.

"Well, you're not alone in that. It's not the same but I was bullied a bit too. The kids back at my school always teased me about the fact my dad died, and my mom got together with John."

Moka blinked.

"What? Why?"

"Because John was from Norway. He was a tall blonde blue-eyed man in Japan. He stood out. Most didn't care really but for the few that did …it mattered. Mattered enough that they wanted me to know all about it. It shouldn't matter…but it really made me pissed off anyways. Got in a lot of fights with them. Can't do that here though, not against…well anything."

Moka cringed.

Tsukune smiled.

"I won't lie," Moka muttered, "A lot of the monsters here are not pleasant. Most would kill you with barely any effort. Befriending anyone here is…a task" admitted Moka.

"I don't know about that. I made a friend in you, didn't I?"

Moka smiled. It was at this moment that Tsukune's stomach growled.

"Damnit, now I'm hungry."

"You can be hungry" smiled Moka "at a time like this?"

"Apparently. I want to go home."

Moka looked down but she strengthened her resolve.

"I understand."

Tsukune smiled at her.
"You wanted me to stay?"

Moka smiled.

"Kind of? I mean I get why you must go but…you're nice to talk to."

"Thanks…I think. The worst part is I don't think I can leave even if I want to."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean how did you get here?"

"Oh, I travelled by bus!"

"Uhhuh…where is that bus now?"

"I…oh."

"Yea. Doubt the bus comes here that often. The worst part is if I want to leave, I have to transfer! Far as I'm aware it's illegal for me to not be enrolled in a school. Explain that to my parents and the school without revealing that I'm completely human! I mean what happens if I tell them? Would they kill me and my parents!?"

Moka shivered a bit. She watched as Tsukune slowly devolved into a spiralling mess. She slowly turned to him and hugged him softly. Tsukune froze a bit but eventually returned the hug.

"It will be ok," said Moka.
"…how can you be sure?"

"I'm not…but I don't like seeing you like this."

She breathed in the scent and shivered a bit. Even now he smelled immensely tasty. Moka closed her eyes and shook her head. His blood was still on his shirt, tantalizing her with its smell. Before Tsukune could say anything Moka moved a distance away, turning away from him.
"I'm sorry" said Moka, her eyes closed "but…"

"…you're hungry."

She blushed and looked down, ashamed.
"I…you're not food. You're my friend but I keep looking at you and thinking about your blood and!"

Tsukune rubbed his neck, a little uncomfortable, but he persevered.

"You know I think the same thing. That I'm just your juice box or whatever."

Moka flinched.

"But the truth is…if you weren't here I'm sure I would have broken down or done something very stupid."

She looked at Tsukune.

"Really?"

"Really. It's really stupid why though."

She tilted her head and Tsukune laughed.

"Men don't break down in front of women."

"PFFT!"

Tsukune laughed with her.

"I thought you'd get a laugh out of that."

Tsukune knelt in front of Moka and smiled.

"If you want my blood, just ask."

Moka shivered a bit, a blush spreading across her face.

"That's…no…I mean."

"Look" said Tsukune "I'm not going to pretend I understand…any of this. But I trust you…you promise you won't take too much?"

Moka looked at him, her eyes wide.

"…you're scared."

"I've been scared for a while now. But you are too. Maybe I'll die in an hour…maybe I'll die from you. But right now I see my friend struggling and maybe a bit of my blood can help. The only thing I can do really."

"You're insane."

"Yup."

Moka leaned in, her cheeks blazed in a searing red. For a moment Tsukune swore her eyes shone a faint red hue. She licked his neck, lost in her own little world.

"I promise I won't take too much" she whispered.

Tsukune felt a shiver down his back as she bit. Her hand began rubbing along his back, trailing her fingers across his spine. She didn't even seem aware, lost in a world of flavour that Tsukune would never understand.

"Jesus, is it supposed to be this erotic!?"

It was only a few gulps, and it was over…it was until Moka licked his wound though. The freezing touch of her tongue freaked him out a bit.

"YIKES!"

Tsukune jumped back, gripping his neck.

"THAT WAS FREEZING!"

Moka chuckled.

"A little vampire trick. It helps numb the pain."

"YOU CAN DO THAT!?"

Moka nodded.

"That's…really weird but kind of cool actually."

Moka rolled her eyes at his pun and hugged him tightly. He wheezed slightly at the pressure.

"I promise Tsukune…I won't let anything happen to you. We'll figure this out."

Tsukune nodded, giving her a hug back.

"Sorry if I seem a bit reluctant to believe you but…this is still a lot."

Moka smiled.

"Then let's take your mind off it! I'm pretty sure there's something here that can help."

"Really?"

Moka nodded, her bright smile easing Tsukune's mood a little. Eh, he was already foot deep in it, might as well jump all in.

"You know what, why not! Show me what this school's got."

Moka proved to be just as breathtaking as she was terrifying. It was scary, being so close to something out of myth. But Tsukune was not the cowardly sort and Moka had become a lifeline in this situation, a light in the darkness. He followed her down the stairs smiling at her happiness and joy. The cafeteria proved to be…unexpectedly modern. There was food there that Tsukune could easily eat. The lunch lady was also a sweetheart, cooing at Tsukune like he was her grandkid. She was some kind of cow monster. The gym was huge and was a building way off to the side. The sea was…concerning, but Tsukune found that there was little to dampen his mood at this point.

"Supposedly there's a little town of sorts off campus we can go to, though that's in the later half of the year," said Moka with a brittle smile.

"…hey," said Tsukune "who knows. Maybe I'm stuck here. Might get to see it!"

Moka laughed. The two of them were now outside the school and were currently at a Cemetery.

"But I got to ask…the hell is up with all the tombstones?"

Moka frowned a bit.
"What? I think it adds to the ambiance."

"That has to be the most stereotypical vampiric thing I've ever heard."

"Hey!"

Tsukune laughed aloud, smiling as he ate away at some kind of…insect thing. It was boiled and prepared in some fashion. Moka swore that they were tasty and so Tsukune gave it a try. Moka watched as he ate another part with a loud crunch.

"This is actually pretty good" smiled Tsukune "not my uh…preferred food though."

Moka smiled and it slowly lost its light as a thought came to her.

"Tsukune…can I ask you a question?"

"Hmm?"

"You asked me earlier why I was trying to help you."

"Uh hun."

Crunch.

"So…why are you so…open about this…about me?"

"You mean aside from the fact you're the only monster, er Yokai, here who I can remotely trust my life and safety to?"

Moka nodded.

"Well…remember when I told you about my own experiences?"

"Well, yes, it wasn't that long ago?"

"Jeez, just checking" sighed Tsukune. He wiped off his uniform with a few pat-downs.

"They bullied me because my mom was dating and eventually married a foreigner. His name is John. He's about as foreign looking as you can get. He's tall, has blonde hair, grows a beard, and has bright blue eyes. Basically, the opposite of anyone in my town. He always struggled to try to acclimate to my people's culture…but he never stopped trying. He still makes mistakes, but he learns from them."

Tsukune got up from the tombstone that he was sitting on. Putting his hands into his pockets, Tsukune looked up to the sky. At least that was somewhat normal.

"I wasn't close to him for a while. He was just a guy my mom moved in with. I didn't dislike him or anything. He never tried to replace my dad. Actually, he made it a point to visit my dad's grave with me…even made space for my mom's shrine to him. He always felt uncomfortable about it, I could tell. but he did it for her. Anyways, when I was ten, he took my mother and me on a trip to Norway, to see his family."

Tsukune grimaced.

"I…wasn't exactly the most stellar passenger. The whole trip was done by boat and was meant to be a summer experience. A family adventure he called it. For me it sucked…I didn't try learning anything he offered to teach me. When we finally arrived in Norway I thought the people were weird and talked funny. I treated them like they were outsiders. My mom rolled with it but even she was uncomfortable. Sometimes."

Tsukune smiled.

"Then he took me to a tavern."

At Moka's confusion, Tsukune explained.

"Uh…like a bar, restaurant, and hotel mixed into one."

"I know what it is, I'm just shocked they still exist!"

Tsukune smiled.

"I was awkward at first but they started to play music and John belted out his violin and…it was like magic."

Tsukune laughed, his eyes a little teary.

"The way his brother hefted me onto his shoulders and danced around…the way his grandmother doted on me and…the way they were patient with me."

Tsukune turned to look at Moka.

"I was a brat back than. But I saw that there's more to this world than just the place I live. That no one culture is better or worse than the other. I found a family in Norway, just as they found a family in me. It was awkward and difficult…but I've come to realize I was lucky to have two dads in my life. The one that I was born from…and the one that found me."

Tsukune placed his hand on Moka's shoulder and smiled.

"I swore to myself never to assume something about someone again. That I wouldn't let my first instinct be my judge…It's not always easy, I admit."

Moka smiled softly.

"It's a beautiful story. Is that why you wanted to join Yokai Academy?"

Moka blinked and shook her head, a red blush forming.

"I'm sorry that was a stupid question!"

Tsukune sighed.

"At least I'd be prepared if that was the case! No I…well I'm not exactly allowed to attend the institutions around my town."

"Why?"

"Well…I may be…banned….for fighting and delinquency."

"….pardon?"

"Yea…I may or may not have gotten in a fight with the wrong people from time to time and it came back to haunt me. My mother found a flyer for this school and I was accepted on a scholarship."

Moka stared at me blankly.

"That's…"

"Highly suspicious I know. At least the school's legit."

"But Tsukune, Yokai Academy wouldn't…it wouldn't have a flyer?"

"I figured. You think somethings up?"

"…maybe? Then again, I'm not rightly sure…"

Moka stiffened.

"Tsukune you need to go."

"What why?"

"Tsukune, shit."

Tsukune blinked at such a pretty girl saying such a dirty word…but when he turned he saw why.

-Tsukune's P.O.V-

It was the guy from class, his smug expression wide and his body filled with swagger. He had a sick grin on his face and for a moment I was worried he had figured it out. But no, if he did he wouldn't be walking towards us like this. He'd be out for the kill… then again that was kind of an assumption there wasn't it?
"Well well…I have to say you were hard to find, pretty bird. It's Moka Akashiya, right?"

"…it is" muttered Moka, moving in front of me slowly.

A large part me of me hated it. The idea of a woman getting in front of me to protect me just…rubbed me the wrong way. It was supposed to be the other way around.

"Man…you are hot!"

I rose my eyebrows at the audacity of this dude. The amount of confidence he had was impressive, I'd give him that. Moka's grimace told me all she wanted from this man…and it was nothing.

"What do you want?" I asked.

The guy grinned.

"The name's Saizo Komiya, and I gotta ask…why are you sticking with the weakling here? I can barely smell a thing off this meat bag."

I knew logically that this asshole was…well he was dead on. If monsters were like anything in the shows and movies, I was likely weaker than this guy by a large margin. Still…I was pissed…I looked at Moka, a raised eyebrow. Still…I was pissed. Still…I looked at Moka, a raised eyebrow. She gave me a nod. It urked me to no end but…if she had it handled I'd let her handle it.

"Who I spend my time with is no concern of yours. Leave us alone Komiya."

The man scowled, his multiple piercings giving him a twisted kind of look.

"I'm just telling you the facts. Look, lets make this easy. Become my woman, Moka."

I stared at him. He seemed to notice this as he glared right at me.

"What do you want dick face."

….dear god.

"Are…are you real right now?"

Saizo blinked.

"I mean it" I said "are you for real or is this all some elaborate prank of some kind. Because if you think Moka or any woman for that matter will respond to "hey, be my woman" than you're literally retarded. What were you raised by Neanderthals?"

"The fuck is a neanderthal?" growled Saizo.

I rolled my eyes.

"Look, dude. Just…go away."

The words were coming out of my mouth faster than my brain could scream stop. I was always a stubborn dickhead, even when I didn't want to be.
"You're seriously telling me to go away?" laughed Saizo "you?"

"She's not interested and, in my experience, an interested partner is a better partner no?"

"She doesn't have to be an interested dumbass."

I felt a chill go down my spine. No...that couldn't have been what he meant?

"The rule of the strong versus the weak. I gave her a chance…but it's about time she experiences a real man! "

"….ok do you just go on to find these responses or what?"

DAMNIT ME!

"RAGGGHHH!"

Moka turned to me, watching my expression as I saw the man morph into a grotesque thing.

"Tsukune you need to run!"

I turned to Moka, my eyes wide.

"You insane? Hell no! I'm not leaving you here alone."

"You can't do anything here!"

"I can be emotional support! Or something!? I ain't leaving without you. If we run, we run together!"

"You're not going anywhere!"

I turned to see the guy and….holy fuck. It was bad. If you thought monster…than this guy was the poster boy. A tower of rippling muscle and teeth. Still…vaguely humanoid though.

"Finally, some fun!" growled Saizo.

Moka grimaced, gripping her Rosary. To my surprise, the rosary didn't come off as Saizo slowly made his way to us.

"Does he think he's intimidating us or something" I whispered to Moka "because I admit…I'm freaked out…what are you doing!"

"The rosary seals most of my power" grimaced Moka "I need it off if I want to fight off Saizo!"

"…wait you can't take that thing off yourself!?"

"Of course not!"

"NOT OF COURSE NOT!? THAT'S A MASSIVE DESIGN FLAW! WHO BUILT THAT SHIT!?"

-Someplace else-

In the director's office the principal Mikogami scowled. He along with the bus driver were watching the proceedings.

"Disrespectful shit" he muttered.

The bus driver cackled as he watched.

"He's not exactly wrong ya know! To them, this looks like no one is keeping an eye on them!"

Mikogami sighed rubbing his eyes under his hood.

"Yes yes, now just keep watch will you? We need to move in if things go for the worst."

"What makes you so certain the boy can release her seal?" asked the bus driver.

"Nothing except intuition. When I happened to stumble across his mother I felt…something. I felt hope. Most stay away from me but that woman attempted to help even me with my little test. It seems her kindness rubbed of to her son…even if he's a disrespectful turd."

"HA! So just a feeling Mikogami!"

"The child was never in danger.'

"He will be the longer he's here. But that's what you're counting on isn't it?"

"To become a bridge between humans and monsters Tsukune Aono must be aware of the dangers that mosntersmonsters present to human kind. It would be ridiculous to assign someone as a diplomat who didn't even know that much."

"You're excuses suck you sadistic bastard. Just admit you're having fun screwing with the kid!"

Mikogami's monstrous grin widened a great deal and the two laughed over their shared entertainment.

-With Tsukune and Moka. Tsukune's P.O.V-

Moka tried unsuccessfully to pull the rosary off as Saizo leapt at them. I grabbed Moka and ran to the side, dodging Saizo's bullrush. I let Moka down and gave her a look.

"How do you know you can't take him? You almost broke my ribs with a hug! I'm sure you could take him!"

"It's…look monsters can sense each other's energy. His is greater than mine while I'm in my sealed state!"

"Oh that's just great!"

"I'm sorry!"

"Hey, this aint your fault…but it does suck."

Moka nodded, scowling as I picked up a random branch. She was glared at me a bit, finally letting go of her Rosary.

"What are you doing?"

I smirked.

"I ain't leaving."

"Are you insane!? He could kill you!"

"Yup and I'm currently shitting my drawers about it."

Moka must have saw how twitchy I was. I had to admit this was…horrifying in a way. I've fought agaisnt other people but I could feel it…the difference. There was a sense of finality in this encounter. We had to separate as Saizo struck out again. He went straight for Moka, ignoring me entirely. I scowled…and than smirked.

"…Jesus Christ you look like a testicle with teeth!"

Saizo stilled, his eyes being shadowed as even Moka stared at me aghast. Saizo turned to me, his eyes almost glowing in anger.

"What! He does! I mean look at him!? What are you compensating for asshole!'

I turned to Moka.

"Find a teacher" I whispered.

Her eyes widened.
"Are insane!"

I started to book it as soon as the guy roared, his anger forcused on me.

"What did you call me you weakling!"

"A pair of balls with teeth! You heard me asshole! What are you some kind of Ogre!?"

"YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH OGRES BITCH!?"

I turned with a grin, dodging as Saizo obliterated a fucking with a swing of his meaty arms.

"I bet your mom wish she shallowed you!"

Saizo's veins bulged out and he mindlessly struck out at me. He reared back and slammed both of his hands into the ground. It must have been the adrenaline but as strong as Saizo was…he was slow. Practicable in a way. With a thought, I rushed forward and slammed my branch into his head. He groaned in pain as the branch broke into pieces. But I had underestimated him. Not a second later he had his hand around me. I flayed helplessly as I gripped the jagged broken branch in my hands. He brought my in close, steam erupting from his mouth.

"I'm going to enioy eating you!"

"FUCK OFF!"

I stabbed the branch into his throat. It barely went in an inch or two…but that was all it took. He threw me away, HARD, and I slammed into a tree. He shook his head, his neck wound healing almost instantly.

"Oh fuck off" I wheezed "that's not fair at all!"

Saizo rushed forward. It was beautiful, the flying knee that Moka did. She had rushed from seemingly nowhere and slammed both knees into Saizo's face. The man went flying to the side but seemed no worse for wear…though I had to admit. Her hit look like it hurt a lot of a lot more than mine did. Moka rushed to me, her eyes teary.

"You idiot! What did you think you were doing!"

"I…was buying you time…to get a teacher?"

"I don't know where they'd be after school!"

"….oh…fair point."

"Are you ok?"

I wheezed.

"…sorry."

She tried to lift me but I saw Saizo up and ready for more. I tried pushing against her.

"I'm slowing you down, just go!"

"I'm not leaving you!"
"He'll do a lot worse to you than he'll do to me! Just get out of here!"

Moka scowled. Her eyes flashing red for a moment.

"No."

I stared at her Rosary. She blinked at me as Saizo began laughing.

"Tsukune?"

"Why won't this thing come off!"

I gripped it and it plopped off with nary an issue. The two of us blinked at each other in shock. I stared at the rosary. For a moment it seemed like nothing was happening.

"Well…that's disappoint-GRK!"

The explosion of whatever kind of energy was flowing off Moka blew agaisnt my face like a hurricane. It was hard to keep my eyes open as Moka shifted me into a princess carry of all things. The transformation ended and I stared at this…new Moka. She was bigger…or perhaps it just felt that way. Her hair was now silver and her eyes were slit and red. Her entire demeanor was different. I swallowed, trying to control my uh…rather inappropriate thoughts.

"Mommy anyone?"

SHUT UP BRAIN!

Moko looked down at me and sighed.
"You must be Moka's pet?"

"Well fuck you too" I growled.

The new Moka blinked, almost aghast at my tone.

"You dare?" she whispered.

"Hey, the one who dared was that asshole!"

I pointed at him like I was a child telling on someone. It felt both demeaning and intoxicating at the same time. I hated guys like this and detested them. But…well usually I was the one doing the ass beatings. Moka stared at me and I saw the briefest little smile. It was weird though that she was acting so differently.

"So…you."

Saizo fell to his knees. To me, it was suffocating…this power she wielded. I couldn't believe that the sweet little Moka was hiding such a beast! God damn!

"The pinnacle of monsters" whimpered Saizo "the vampire! I DIDN'T KNOW!"

Moka dropped me without concern, making me wheeze from the impact. It was like she teleported, her legs now more muscular.

"Know your place" she growled, her voice filled with power. One moment Saizo was there…the next her foot buried itself into his face so hard I heard his skull crack. Yet Moka made it seem like it was just a light kick. I kreened my head, watching the distance Saizo flew. I sighed in relief but grimaced in pain. My damn chest was on fire. Moka turned her blood-red eyes to me and I felt both fear and…well no small amount of arousal. She was beautiful, one way or the other. I lifted her Rosary.

"I think you'll want this."

Moka rose an eyebrow, slowly but gracefully making her way toward me. As she got closer, I tried to get up. I was able to do so with Moka's unexpected assistance.

"Thanks for the save" I hissed, handing her the rosary "I can see why you seal yourself away. You're a beast!"

Moka rose an eyebrow.

"Oh?"

I smiled.

"I don't mean it like that. It's…it's like a saying. It means that someone is impressive."

Moka's smile was wide as she leaned in closer. She sniffed my neck, her red eyes locking into mine. I stared into them and found myself enthralled by them. They were beautiful, much in the same way a tiger was beautiful and dangerous.

"It would seem Saizo is not the only one that doesn't know his place."

I sighed.

"Do I get the kick too?"

Moka smirked.

"No…Outer was right…you are an odd one."

"Say what now?"

Moka tapped her rosary.

"There are two of us. One the outer Moka, the other is me."

I stared at her. I couldn't even comprehend…I couldn't even understand how something like that was livable? This…inner moka seemed to understand my thoughts, her face scowling into displeasure.

"Is that…pity? From a lesser like you?"

"What else can I do but pity you" I whispered "no one deserves to be caged. Not like that. Is Moka…at least a part of you? Or something?"

Inner Moka blinked and tilted her head.

"Odd…but acceptable. You will take care of outer Moka for me, yes?"

"….hell no."

Moka's eyes narrowed but I was firm.

"I can't take care of shit! She's stronger than me! Fuck she'll be taking care of me! Look at me!"

I watched as this inner Moka began laughing. It was a slow but tingling laugh. One that brought all kinds of shivers down my back.

"So you do understand your place. Yet, you constantly push it. You are…an interesting human Tsukune."

"Wait…you're aware?"

Inner Moka smiled deviously.
"When I want to be. Do not hurt outer Moka…or we will have words. I promise you, there are ways around the Rosary's safeguards."

I sighed in relief.

"Oh, thank God. I mean, I thought it was nuts to permanently seal your power like that."

"A little will leak out when she feels she is in danger."

"….the hell that was like the worst kind of danger a woman could be in!"

Inner Moka sighed.

"You are a fool it seems. She was more concerned about you."

"….oh….that's…"

"Stupid?" muttered Inner Moka "perhaps. She has grown quite attached to you and I admit, your willingness to stand even in the face of such odds has given you a bit of my respect. You are still a lesser though…so remember your place and I won't have to deal with you. Understood!"

"Understood!" I said.

Her aura was deafening. Bearing down on me like a god. But…as different as this Moka was…I felt concern. They were connected. Perhaps not the same, but shared some central core or something.

"I promise I'll be safe" I said "and make sure Moka is safe. Though…how safe that can be with a human in this school I don't know."

Moka rose an eyebrow.

"I have to be stronger" I muttered "not like that will do much though."

"Perhaps…perhaps nownot. There is no sin in being weak…the sin lies in staying that way."

Inner Moka smiled. It was a hard and savage thing, but a smile none the less.

"I like you."

"….say what now?"

Before I could even blink Inner Moka bit into my neck. It was a degree more brutal than before, like she didn't know her own strength. I felt a surge of energy echo through my torso and I shivered. I stared at the silver Moka. Yet, as the energy surged in my it also disappeared. I felt weaker than I've ever been in a long time…but my chest didn't hurt.

"The hell?"

Moka grinned.

"My scent will be on you. That should deter some of the weaker monsters here."

"….the hell!?"

Moka grinned, licking her ruby lips.
"I thought Outer was a fool but she was not wrong. Your blood is excellent. Your body is not weak either…for a human."

"uh…thanks?"

"You have earned my protection for now human…DO. NOT. WASTE IT."

I blinked.

"You think I pulled the rosary?"

Inner Moka nodded, placing it almost on the circle.

"I do. However you did it, I know not."

"You want me around in case Moka needs me?"

"Your masculine desire to feel useful is useless here. Even without you Moka is rarely in danger."

Ouch.

"Fair point" I muttered "…do you mind if I ask a question?"

"Very well."

This…inner Moka kept the rosary close to her chest but did not link it back.

"What did you do? My chest feels a lot better?"

"A form of blood magic. I accelerated the healing process for your body as much as I could safely. I am an amateur at it, so I am required to be in physical contact with your blood."

"…that was magic? Damn, that's awesome."

Inner Moka rose an eyebrow as I started grinning.

"You….you are weird?"

"Says the girl with multiple personalities?"

Inner Moka gave him a droll stare and raised an eyebrow.

"You are not afraid?"

"Oh, I'm confused but afraid? No. If you wanted me dead I'd be dead. Besides. You're Moka, just badass Moka."

Inner Moka blinked. For the briefest moment, I swore I saw an awkward expression. But it was cooled before I could be certain.

"….odd. Good-bye lesser."

"Hurtful. My name is Tsukune."

"…you've yet to earn the right for me to address you so casually."

"Ow."

Inner Moka smiled, one that was notably warmer. Her eyes shuttered close as her hair turned pink. Her eyes fluttered open again, the red gone and replaced with emerald green.

"Tsukune! You're ok! I…well…"

"…so…there are two of you?"

"….basically."

"…damn that must suck."

"I admit it…comes with its own problems. No! Are you ok?"

"Oh, yea I'm fine" I said, patting down my shirt "Whatever your Inner super sayian did heal my ribs…somewhat. Still feel tender."

Moka blinked and tilted her head.

"Super Sayian?"

"You've never watched Dragonball Z?"

She shook her head.

"Sailor Moon?"

Nope.

"Bleach?"

She shook her head.

"Naruto?"

Another shake.

"Come on at least you've watched One Piece or something! Those are the most popular anime!"

"….anime?"

"…dear god child. Human society has failed you. Leave it to me, we'll find your favourite anime or manga!"

"What's a manga?"

Deep within me I felt the countless fellow nerds weep at her response.

"This weekend we're watching anime damnit. No excuse!"

"What about school?"

"What about it!? I need some stress relief damnit!"

Moka couldn't help herself it seems. She started laughing. It was a beautiful sound that made my heart skip a beat. I've never felt this way about a girl before but Moka was making me feel things I never thought I would, in all honesty. Funny how it had to be a vampire girl of all things? I decided to make a move on…save for one issue. My legs? They didn't listen.

"….why can't I move?"

Moka blushed.

"Are you ok!?"

"I…I feel really weak?"

"Oh…that's normal. I think?"

She hefted me up like I was a child, holding me in a princess carry. I pouted like the child I was and crossed my arms.
"I did not consent to this."

Moka gave a cheeky smile, her eyes bright.

"Too bad. We're going to the medical bay."

"….Moka…"

"….Oh my gosh I'm sorry!"

"Take me to my dorm room…or whatever. Pretty sure they loaded all my stuff into that room."

"Still can't believe you lucked out and got that room all to yourself" smiled Moka "I was expecting you to have to bunk with someone. It's easier to sneak you in since your room's so close to the roof!"

"Yea…. lucky" I muttered.

The girl hefted me away, my pride dying and crumbling into little pieces as she effortlessly carried me. Have you ever been the damsel in distress? Take it from me, it's a bittersweet experience.
