Sartorius was sitting at a table doing a tarot reading, and he had flipped over The Fool and The Hierophant. "These cards represent Jaden and Aster. Someday, they will affect my destiny. But then what of the third card?" Sartorius wondered before he turned it over, revealing The Strength.

"This card represents a power that cannot be swayed. Are the cards saying there is someone else who will influence my destiny? Duel Academy… You may be a far more interesting place than I had initially imagined," Sartorius contemplated. Later, Hassleberry was asleep in Jaden's room dreaming about dinosaurs when he rolled over and fell out of his bunk, crashing to the floor.

He rubbed the back of his head in pain, but when looked up, he saw Sartorius casually sitting in a chair in the room. Hassleberry told him to identify himself, but Sartorius just asked if he was in Jaden's room. Hassleberry asked why he wanted to see Jaden, and Sartorius wondered if the one in front of him represented the Strength card.

Hassleberry asked Sartorius to identify himself and his purpose, and Sartorius introduced himself, saying he managed professional duelists. "As in the 'Master Sartorius' Chazz raves on about? The head of the Society of Light?" Hassleberry asked, and when Sartorius asked what he was getting at, Hassleberry said that he brainwashed Chazz, although he didn't think Chazz had much of a brain to begin with, but now half the school was in on his scheme.

"I haven't done anything to them. What they do is of their own free will," Sartorius informed, but Hassleberry said he also knew that Sartorius tried to break Jaden's connections with his duel spirits and bring him into the Society of Light before saying he wouldn't let Sartorius hurt his friends, his eyes changing to that of a T-Rex's.

"What is this incredible power rising from his body? Interesting," Sartorius thought to himself before challenging Hassleberry to a duel. Hassleberry asked Sartorius if he would dissolve his society if he lost, and he said that while he wouldn't do that, he would ask Hassleberry's friends to consider leaving.

Hassleberry agreed to the duel, and the two went outside to have their match. Meanwhile, Jaden, Syrus, and Dorothy were walking back to the red dorm and Jaden and Syrus were carrying bags of draw bread. "After buying all that draw bread, will you have enough money Jaden?" Dorothy asked, and Syrus said when he asked him that, Jaden wouldn't answer him. Jaden said that after buying all the bread he had, he was sure to find the prize.

He stopped when he looked ahead and saw Aster standing a ways from the red dorm. Jaden asked Aster what brought him to the red dorm, and Aster said he saw someone surprising heading towards it. He motioned to the side and they saw Sartorius and Hassleberry about to duel. Jaden asked who was standing near Hassleberry, and Aster said it was his manager.

"And by the looks of things, I'd say he's about to duel your friend," Aster pointed out, and Jaden asked Dorothy to hold his bag while he went to help Hassleberry. Aster wondered why Sartorius was here in person, grabbing one of Jaden's draw breads and opening.

Dorothy tried to tell him off, but he bit into the sandwich, seeing he had pulled the golden eggwich. "Alright, let's duel!" Hassleberry challenged as he started his duel disk, but Sartorius seemed to be having trouble. Hassleberry asked if something was wrong, and Sartorius apologized before asking how to start it.

Hassleberry told him to press the button on the side, and Sartorius did as instructed, starting the duel disk. "I see. It is my first time using this device. I look forward to many things about it. Many things indeed," Sartorius said, but Hassleberry just thought Sartorius was full of it before re-issuing his challenge.

Hassleberry: 4000 LP

Sartorius: 4000 LP

"I'll go first. I draw! Giant Rex, front and center!" Hassleberry declared.

Level 4/Earth/Dinosaur

ATK 2000/DEF 1200

Sartorius was surprised Hassleberry played a monster with 2000 attack points on the first turn, and Hassleberry just ended his turn. "Wait, you've gotta call off this duel! Do you have any idea who he is?" Jaden asked as he ran up to his friend. "Of course, that's why I accepted. I'm gonna beat the pants off this guy and send him and his society packin'," Hassleberry assured before Sartorius started his turn and summoned Arcana Force I - The Magician in attack mode.

Level 4/Light/Fairy

ATK 1100/DEF 1100

The monster's card appeared above it and began to turn. Hassleberry asked what was going on, but Sartorius just smiled. "Destiny has already been decided. But fortune and misfortune are two sides of the same coin. In other words, they can change instantly, with a moment's reversal. When you say the word 'Stop', the card will stop turning, and depending on whether it lands upside-down or right-side up, my monster will gain an appropriate effect.

Hassleberry said for it to stop, and the card stopped turning and landed upright, Sartorius explaining that since it did, The Magician's attack points would be doubled during the turn a spell card was activated. Hassleberry said he just got bad luck, and Sartorius asked him what he thought destiny was, and Hassleberry said it was just about whether you get lucky or not.

"I suppose that is the only way you can understand it. But all of our futures are determined by the Wheel of Fortune. For instance… Take the extinction of those dinosaurs you love so much," Sartorius noted, but Hassleberry said they hadn't gone extinct because they live on in him.

"A lovely sentiment. Sad, but lovely. Personification of the Strength Card, behold your destiny. Regard this card. I activate the spell card Future Vision. Now I can look at cards from the top of your deck until I find a monster card, and if that monster has the same type as your Giant Rex, then all the cards I looked at go back to the top of your deck in the same order and you gain 1000 life points," Sartorius explained.

"I wonder what lies in your future. A warrior perhaps? Or maybe a spellcaster. Or possibly an insect," Sartorius said, but Hassleberry assured him it would be a dinosaur as he handed the man his deck. Sartorius looked through Hassleberry's deck, seeing his New Ultra Evolution spell and his Ultimate Tyranno.

Hassleberry: 5000 LP

"What's with him? He went out of his way to give Hassleberry life points," Jaden noted, but Aster said that wasn't all he did, as not only did he get to see the cards Hassleberry will draw next, but since he used a spell card, the Magician's attack points double because of its effect.

Magician: 1100-2200 ATK

"Now Magician, attack Giant Rex! Arcana Magic!" Sartorius ordered as a bright light shone from his monster as a green fog enveloped the field, and when it touched Giant Rex, he was instantly destroyed.

Hassleberry: 4800 LP

Sartorius then placed two cards down and ended his turn, causing Magician's attack points to return to normal. "It's about time. My move! I summon Archeonys in attack mode!" Hassleberry declared.

Level 3/Wind/Winged Beast

ATK 300/DEF 1300

Hassleberry activated his New Ultra Evolution spell card, and Sartorius pointed out that since he was using a spell card, Magician's effect activated.

Magician: 1100-2200 ATK

"Maybe, but thanks to my spell card, by sacrificin' a winged beast on my field, I can special summon a dinosaur from my hand. Archeonys, you are dismissed. Now Dark Tyranno, report for duty!" Hassleberry declared.

Level 7/Earth/Dinosaur

ATK 2600/DEF 1800

"Even with his points doubled, you Magician can't beat my dinosaur. Now, attack that Magician!" Hassleberry ordered as Dark Tyranno ran forward and slammed his tail into Sartorius' monster, destroying it.

Sartorius: 3600 LP

"Well Mr Destiny, looks like you didn't see that coming. Maybe next time you should spend less time talking and more time defending yourself from me, 'cause I'm packin' the strength of a dinosaur!" Hassleberry declared, and Syrus commented that Hassleberry also had the brains of a dinosaur, but Hassleberry told him he heard the comment before ending his turn.

"Very well. I draw. And I play the Pentacle of Ace spell card. Like before, you say stop," Sartorius informed, and when Hassleberry did, it landed right-side up, Sartorius explaining that since it did, he could draw a card and gain 500 life points.

Sartorius: 4100 LP

Hassleberry said Sartorius was certainly lucky today, but Sartorius told him that Destiny guides all men equally. "I summon Arcana Force VII - The Chariot in attack mode," he declared.

Level 4/Light/Fairy

ATK 1700/DEF 1700

Hassleberry shouted for it to stop, but this time it landed upside-down. "Due to its reverse effect, if it is destroyed in battle, the Chariot will summon itself to your field. I'll now have The Chariot attack your Dark Tyranno," Sartorius explained, but Syrus and Jaden were confused why he would do that.

"Sartorius knows the future, so he knows exactly what he's doing. Your friend doesn't stand a chance," Aster warned. His monster shot beams of energy from its cannons, but Dark Tyranno hit the beams with his tail, deflecting them back at Chariot.

Sartorius: 3200 LP

"Since Chariot was destroyed, it revives to your side of the field," Sartorius reminded, and when he said for it to stop, it landed up-side down again. "Was there even a point to that? If it gets destroyed, then we're right back where we started. Maybe you should stick to managing and leave the dueling to those of us with skill," Hassleberry taunted, but Sartorius shrugged it off.

"This might change your mind. I play the spell Suit of Sword X. If my card lands upside down, then all monsters on my field will be destroyed, but if it lands right-side up, then all your monsters will be destroyed," Sartorius explained before Hassleberry could rush him.

Hassleberry tried to time it to land in his favor, but he botched it and the card landed upright, Hassleberry lamenting his back luck. A bright light flashed from the spell and both of Hassleberry's monsters were destroyed. "And now I play the trap Ace of Wand. If it lands right side up, you gain life points equal to the combined attack points of the monsters that were just destroyed. However, should the card land in reverse, you will instead take that many points as damage," Sartorius explained.

Syrus noted that Chariot had 1700 attack points and Dark Tyranno had 2600, so combined that would be 4300 points. "By explaining the effect, Hassleberry won't be able to resist trying to guess the future. He can't escape from the Wheel of Fortune Sartorius turns," Aster commented. "Well, what's the matter? You're the one in control right now," Sartorius, and Hassleberry shouted for it to stop, the card landing upside-down.

Hassleberry: 500 LP

Sartorius ended his turn, and Hassleberry was starting to doubt himself. "This is bad. At this rate, I can't win. I don't believe in destiny, but I…," he thought to himself, but Jaden shouted for him not to listen. "He's trying to psych you out! If you buy into all his destiny talk, then you've already lost. The only way to get through this is to trust yourself. You can still win! After all, don't you have the strength of a dinosaur?" Jaden asked, and that was the pep talk Hassleberry needed.

"That's right. It's my move. I draw! The dinosaurs… The dinosaur DNA inside me… They haven't abandoned me yet!" Hassleberry shouted as his eyes changed and he pulled a card from his hand, summoning his Dyna Base in attack mode.

Level 4/Earth/Machine

ATK 0/DEF 2100

"Due to its special ability, I can sacrifice it and the Ultimate Tyranno in my hand in order to summon Dyna Tank from my extra deck!"

Level 7/Earth/Machine

ATK ?/DEF 2100

"And due to Dyna Tank's special ability, it gains all the attack points of the monster I sacrificed, and Ultimate Tyranno had 3000 attack points," Hassleberry pointed out.

Tank: ?-3000 ATK

"Now Dyna Tank, attack directly with Dinotech Rush!" Hassleberry ordered as his monster opened its mouth before firing a stream of flames at Sartorius.

Sartorius: 200 LP

Hassleberry then ended his turn, Syrus and Jaden telling him to keep up the pressure. "I wouldn't celebrate just yet. It's my turn. I activate the Necro Sacrifice spell card. With it, I can select up to two monsters in my graveyard and summon them to your side of the field, but you choose what battle mode they are in. I choose Arcana Force VII - The Chariot," Sartorius declared, and Hassleberry chose attack mode.

Sartorius called for the card to stop and it landed upside-down. Jaden wondered why Sartorius summoned a monster to Hassleberry's field, and Sartorius explained that it was so he could summon his Arcana Force VIII - The Strength without having to tribute monsters.

Level 5/Light/Fairy

ATK 1800/DEF 1800

"If it lands upright, I gain control of one of your monsters, but if it lands reversed, you gain control of all my other monsters," Sartorius explained, and when Hassleberry said "stop", it landed upright. Sartorius said that since it landed upright, he was taking control of Dyna Tank, but Hassleberry revealed that Dyna Tank had an effect of his own, and that when it's targeted by a card effect, it turns the effect back on its opponent, meaning that Hassleberry gains control of The Strength, the monster vanishing before reappearing on his field.

Hassleberry thanked Sartorius for the monster, but Sartorius said not to thank him just yet. "Just as a single mistake can send an entire life crashing down, a single card can turn the entire duel against you. I activate the Reversal of Fate trap card. With it, every monster on the field with Arcana Force in its name changes from right side up to upside down and vice versa. And since Strength is now applying its reverse effect, I gain control of all your monsters apart from it," Sartorius explained.

Dyna Tank and Chariot vanished before reappearing on Sartorius' side of the field. Sartorius ordered to Dyna Tank to attack and it unleashed its attack on The Strength, destroying it and knocked Hassleberry to the ground.

Hassleberry: 0 LP

Winner: Sartorius

Jaden and Syrus shouted for their friend, but Sartorius assured Hassleberry this was meant to happen. "Everything in your life has brought you here. Every decision has carried you to this very moment. A pathway of light will soon stretch out before you," Sartorius said, and when Jaden and Syrus tried to run to Hassleberry, Sartorius turned to them, his eyes glowing, and the two found themselves unable to move.

"That was some duel. Amazing tactics soldier," Hassleberry complimented, and Syrus was worried he had joined Sartorius. "Not on your life son. I may have lost this time, but you can bet it won't happen again next time," Hassleberry assured, and Sartorius said this was impossible, as no one could resist the power of the light.

"I ain't just anybody. Take a look at this," Hassleberry said as he rolled up his pant leg, revealing a long scar along his left leg. "A few years ago, I was digging up a dinosaur fossil when I got caught in a landslide and broke my leg. In order to save my leg, the doctors replaced the bone with one of the dinosaur bones I had dug up. When that happened, dinosaur DNA mixed with mine, and made me stronger than your average Joe," Hassleberry informed.

Syrus asked if that was even possible, and Jaden said that while he wasn't sure, it made for a good story at the very least. "I may have lost, but I ain't joinin' your little club," Hassleberry said, and Sartorius just turned and left without another word. Jaden asked Hassleberry if he was alright, and Hassleberry said he was fine before apologizing for giving them a scare.

The next day, the students were gathered in the lecture hall by Crowler to give an announcement. "Alright, settle down. Now, we have a new student joining us, so please give him a warm welcome," Crowler requested, and Jaden asked if he thought they were in elementary school, Hassleberry saying one of them was, Syrus immediately catching on to the insult.

"Now, I welcome Duel Academy's newest student, Sartorius Kumar, who will be joining as a third-year student," Crowler introduced as the man stepped onto the stage, leaving Jaden wondering what Sartorius was planning.
